    >The world of Sevenboroughs is of paramount importance to the imperium's efforts in the Nordica Sector
    >for where most Knight worlds hold one or two houses, Sevenboroughs holds 4
    >and indeed few knights can claim to be equal to those that ride to the many battlefronts across the beleaguered imperium from Sevenboroughs, for by all definitions the world should not hold civilization
    >not since the Lions' home world of Caliban has a world been untamed and brutal towards those that live there

    >caves in which one might seek shelter from prowling hunting manticores or feral cast out beastmen are as likely to hold twin-headed Dire Bears or rock gnawing troglogoths able to surpass even noble ogryn in size and match them in wits
    >sea serpents and bog octopuss harass sea traders moving between the Emerald isle and the mainland, or even simply to travel from the rocky shores of the black shores of Dunwitch to the frozen docks of the bloodsea
    >not to mention the ever-present thread of savage orks whose threat is never truly routed

    /TG/ DEVELOPED A GAME
IT IS PLAYABLE. IT HAS BEEN PLAYED.
EXPEDITION is a ~1880s era, Jules Verne-inspired retro-futurist, underground blood soaked adventurescape.
It is a Skirmish wargame. Two players with their own expeditions, on a hexgrid map, explore & fight each other for victory and profit.

3 versions of the rules exist, 2 of which have been playtested. The main one is 2e, to be found:

My thoughts, in no particular order or format, are as follows:
-Them drawing on incorrect interpretations of earlier practice makes sense and is fitting
-Vulcan is probably better than Lucifer unless we want an explicitly satanist angle.
-For my own part, I would rather have diana/vulcan called something more abstract like The Darkness and The Fire or something like that. Giving them human(ish) names just doesn't work for me although I can't exactly articulate why.
-Having Vulcan be believed to be the INNR SVN also both makes sense to me and doesn't in a way I can't yet wrap my head around. I think this part works as-is though at least, so long as the Vulcanists aren't worshiping the INNR SVN but instead its sons/jailers/wranglers. Fearful reverence on the other hand makes perfect sense
    -Pulling from Freemasonry is great
-Layers exist retroactively? I thought that instead each layer falls down piecemeal into the place of the ones below it over time (See how Paris/Hokkaido/Istanbul all fell down 1-2 layers as the cycle starts to turn in our own time)
-I like the building a new layer angle, especially since it can connect to the Piransi guys. It does reinforce the idea that the Vulcanists want to capture more volcanos though since I'd assume you need more than Stromboli to build a whole new layer
-Having the "Build a new layer to become the lords of it" be the public facing idea is interesting, but I think it would work better as a first-step initiation truth. The lore we've seen for the public/peasant face of Vulcanism in the past has been a sort of Bacchanal paganism and I would like that aspect to stay around at least a little. We could have it so once you join the cult officially you get initiated into the new layer lordship idea, and then the further up you go the more you learn about the Supreme Being
-Same note with Janus not being my favourite as a name compared to something more general like the Supreme Being or The Light
    >>
    >>98906415
    >Continued:
-The high-level philosopgy of the pursuit of power kind of overlaps with Lemuria, so emphasizing the truthseeking and attempted ascension to Volcano Spirit aspect I think would be good, especially in connection with the Freemason ideas

Let me know what you think
    >>
I spent a lot of time today working on the Main Rule book, specifically the Structures, finishing some, reformating all and adding the newest ones, I see no reason to scatter them across books.
    > "What do you mean I lost because you built a church and sat your Army Priest in it, what kind of wargame is this? ARG 2e ANON I HATE YOU"
    But remember, Christ loves you.
For the Barricades I would like to explore picrel, you build them on 3 sides of a hex, and they only provide their bonus if the attack originates from over. I'd probably do something similar for Fortified Walls?

If the Civ games can have cultural, economic, and religious victories I don't see why we can't.

Or was that Spore I'm thinking of?

Barricades being directional makes sense, but fortified walls also give you elevation so for them I'm not sure. Would you be able to also put a building on a hex with a barricade in this case? It could allow for custom-built forts in a tighter footprint.
    >>
    >>98907004
    >Or was that Spore I'm thinking of?
I think you are right either way, although I have to admit I've never been good enough at Spores to get beyond the early civilization stage.
I see what you mean with Fortified Walls, if anything they should be more like tracks, maybe just 3 hex across.
    >>98907004
    >Would you be able to also put a building on a hex with a barricade in this case? It could allow for custom-built forts in a tighter footprint.
Yes! The new format for Structures will also make it clearer which ones you can build without occupying a whole hex as well, if they change the hex type, etc. (Picrel is still unfinished, I want to fix a few things with it already, and spreads across 3 pages in the rule book, but once I'm done, it'll be made into a template for the game on which each building's tokens will be placed, so, despite being a lot, it should be easy to use and parse through.)

    >>
    >How does necromancy work in your setting
Like all other magic, you roll 1d4+INT to see how many spells you can cast that day, and then you gotta pass the casting check or it fizzles.
    >How powerful are necromancers in your setting?
Up to lvl 12 I guess but there's no hard cap.
    >>
    >>98903986
Shoving the souls of the deceased into various objects to reforge said objects into humanoid living things. Everything sapient that isn't a human is the product (directly or indirectly) of some necromancer shoving someone's soul into something that didn't have one.

Despite phrasing above, 'object' as defined above includes absolutely anything that isn't currently occupied by a soul. Since the results of the process are sapient things and do not necessarily have any particular loyalty to their creator, the use of corpses as vessels is common to make the resuscitated individual compliant with indentured servitude or slavery, as walking corpses remain pretty unpopular in society at large.

Despite aesthetics during (and sometimes after), even the most foul looking of these creatures are alive, though they retain many of the physical qualities of their body despite being twisted into humanoid form. Corpses become what would resemble the undead of other settings, non-living material becomes something akin to a golem or elemental, et cetera.
    >>
    >>98903986
had this artist never seen a skeleton before wtf
    >>
    >>98903986
Almost all magic draws from the Ethereal Plane (a buffer realm between the Prime Material and the infernal planes, and the place from which dreams emanate). When a corpse is animated, a small portion of Ethereal energy is siphoned off and imbued upon it; the corpse recalls and emulates the sensation of mortal locomotion. When spells like Speak With Dead are cast, you aren't actually speaking with the soul of the departed, but a simulacrum of compiled dreams formed from the foam of residual memories floating adrift upon the surface of the mercurial Ethereal Sea.

    Selvala - Big Stompy

This is the OSR WF thread. This is a for a special group of OSR games, along with OSR-adjacent and retro games. You can talk about all OSR (Pre Wotc D&D, & retroclones) & OSR-adjacent (Mork Borg, SWN etc) games without distinction here, except for ACKS. ACKS is specifically excluded, along with all ACKS-like games and the other Autarch products.

ACKS is being excluded because its fans have a tendency to be disruptive. If you want to talk about ACKS, do so elsewhere.

Bit of a session report here.
    >Stellar Ventures
Was quite good! I have little Cube rails reference, but our first game at 3p took us merely 2h, and I'm confident you could get it down to sub 90 min which is pretty great. Can't tell all that much otherwise because the game obviously needs multiple plays to grasp the finer details, we made lots of mistakes. I AM a bit apprehensive about the game becoming rather scripted after a time by its nature amd I'd have liked a bit more...economic tricks, taking control away from someone seems rather rare and if it happens someone likely made a grave mistake? I did like it quite a bit. Not extremely ethusiastic about it but very statisfied.
    >Spooktacular
Gave it yet another chance because I desperately want to love this game, this time with full playercount. And, predictably, if was merely okayish. It really wants to be played with quick turns and little analysis, especially because there's no real planning ahead because the boardstate changes so fundamentally each turn. Want to love this way more than I can, it's just a very well presented 6/10 and if people start to overthink their turns the game suffers massively.

    >Modern Art
Always a hoot. Still getting these holy shit what are you doing moments when two people get into a bidding war or someone thinking themselves clever for making 9k net off a painting whilst handing yoir opponent 120k. I love the 92 version (Karl Gitter > all) but I do wish the other artists had better or just more interesting atwork. Calling crypto a scam is always fun ofc
    >>
Appreciate the responses I got on >>98896797
, but captcha is making it PITA to respond to everyone.

I went with Feed The Kraken, it was a good pick as even I who am not a fan of social deduction had an enjoyable time, plus it was with a crowd that doesn't play games much (we even managed to play it twice). FTK makes social deduction more of a board game-ish experience rather than the usual look at the card for your role these games offer.

I'm still having itchy fingers for Dune Imperium: Uprising or Clank!: Catacombs, but I'm hesitant if I actually want to play these or do I just enjoy the idea of playing them. I'm leaning more towards Clank! as I really disliked in the original Dune the moment where someone goes "lol fuck you" revealing intrigue card out of nowhere and losing you the game. Then again, I hated moments when someone in Clank! gets lucky with the market or purges their bad cards very early on.

No idea what I would cull to free up the space either, both boxes are quite large and the game would need to be in the upper half of the shelf for me to be satisfied with its layout. I'd maybe cull Pandemic for Clank!, but it's removal does not free up enough space unfortunately.
    >>
    >>98906752
    >Dune Imperium: Uprising
I think there are better cutthroat low VP games, although I've only played this once although I will again tomorrow.

    >Clank! Catacombs
the rng in the tiles really downplays the rng in the market so it's not as painful when someone gets 3 boots or whatever. catacombs is always a guess as to who won where clank! it was merely an exercise to add up the VPs. also if you have a friend who never makes it out of the depths in Clank! then catacombs also seems to be a cure for that.

If you want a deckbuilder that is better than either where you get to pitfight your opponents go for Arctic Scavengers +Recon +HQ

If you want Stellar Ventures but less stupid you should check out either Chicago Express or a proper 18XX. ChEx removes all the unnecessary fluff and leaves only the "you're broke, try to pull yourself up by the bootstraps" element; while 18XX actually let you leverage the train rusting to kill unprepared players, unlike in Stellar Ventures where Cargo is just a tax on your company.

You may have noticed, if you have two eyes and a brain, that the sentiment for GW has shifted to largely negative in recent years. Constant price hikes on products that have not largely increased in production costs and were being sold at quadruple digit percent profit margins. Rattlecans filled with more propellant than paint and glue bottles cutting in size but increasing in price and a massive shift to turning their products into simplified, competitive games.

This had the diehard heavy user enthusiast upset for a few years now but in the last year even their light user who would splurge on fomo big box releases but little else every other year have soured. To the degree for the first time since covid the stocks for GW are being shorted and losing value rather than growing.

Internally this has been expected for a while and in the last quarter there has been a massive internal shift around products. Necromunda rpg for example was shut down not because of some Cursed City style printing issues but because leadership asked why print another Necromunda product line when they already have on they can put that time and resources into.

The recent Space Marine cull was symptom of this internal shift. Seen as a painful but necessary step to rework away from the "T-Sports strategy" that has alienated existing customers and not brought in the competitive tabletop game in the numbers it was intended to.

After Christmas and starting largely in 2027 we are going to see a massive shift in GW to try and rebrand Warhammer as a whole back to a hobby and livestyle product over competitive toy lines. Wether this will move the needle is anybodies guess as players are leaving in not insignificant numbers for newer games like Starcraft or Gundam Assemble.

A pretty circumstantial issue really. Thats mainly in the shitty bretonnia book that is universally hated by the community.

Most of the TOW expansion of the AoTE has been decent imo, with not much of that being the case at all.

You mean it’s been non fucking existent, which yeah, it’s probably for the best, considering how fucking boring the cahtayan and now niggaharian plot lines are.

    >why are you even thinking of it in terms of builds
    I could answer that.
It's cause we know what the powers on offer do and anons all have their own idea for an OP as fuck build they could make combining certain techniques.
It's a reminder to anons of the reality. Their "OP Build" is barely a fraction of the power held by they guy giving it to you.
Then remember that guy you're barely a fraction of is a chump compared to the Real powerful people in the setting.

yeah, that's normal. it's a 20k and loner tax because apparently the guys who make blood bowl hate teams with lower tv and don't want star players in naf games. it's always stupid how overcoasted most stars and inducements are

This is a question about painting/uniforms, but don't all Uruk-Hai under Saruman's control bear the mark of the white hand? (and technically an S rune on their helmets which the movies and consequently GW miniatures omitted if I'm not mistaken.)
GW's studio miniatures seem to only have the hand on captains and heroes. A basic warrior from the plastic box from the promo pictures with a hand painted on his shield stands in as captain in the old rules manual.
Whereas Weta/Peter Jackson's films have slightly more involved markings in general and some - like this guy in the picture here - have red mixed into their markings (and Berserkers are technically covered in blood, but that is probably technically less of a marking and more to do with their ritual to work themselves into a frenzy).

Reason I'm asking is because between the book, the films and adaption by gw on "official" paint schemes I don't see a clear pattern and want to avoid a faux pas.
Another example: In the books the orcs are all supposed to have the red eye of sauron on their shields, the movie version is a lot more ragtag. But it looks better to paint it on the minis anyway imo.

I think painting handprints on every single Uruk would look neat. Do people just not do it because it's more work or is there another reason that I'm unaware of? Like a convention of unit markings or something? Lurtz has the handprint on his face so you can tell him apart in the movie obviously, but we never get to see much of the chain of command, but this picture had me wondering.

No, you use your best save against all three. Normally that'll be your regular armor save because hardly anyone has invulnerable saves. But against, say, an AP -3 weapon, your armor save will be useless so if you have an invulnerable you'll want to use it.

This is a general for everything 3D printed relating to /tg/ from sci-fi, fantasy, historicals, fantasy football, and more! Share your printed minis, terrain, print fails, 3d modelling, printing advice, works in progress, or anything else /tg/-related to 3D printing.

    >DO:
    - Post pics of your prints be they fails or triumphs
    - Keep discussion/photos about tabletop games only
    - Post your resin/printer/settings for faster advice
    - Help your fellow anons with advice

    >TRY TO:
    - Remember that this general is monitored by GWendolin and her lawyers
    - Not make a new thread until old one dies
    - Not encourage namefags, tripfags, fumefags and coomers
    - Not spoonfeed
    - Not war over Filament/Resin consoles
    - Keep your model pics naked (no paint/undercoat only)

When removing supports once a small piece catapulted off and nailed my right in the eye. So yes, some manner of eye protection (doesn't exactly have to be ballistic grade) can be nice to have.

This is more or less accurate. Hell, you don't even "need" all of this stuff. When I got started I used two empty pickle jars for washing (one clean, one dirty) and that served me well enough for years. I also didn't bother with ventilation until I wanted to shoot lacquer through my airbrush in the winter, so I rigged up a spray booth out of a grow tent and an inline fan (the exact Vevor in your pic actually, it moves more air than any other 4" fan that I've ever seen) and put two of my three printers in there because why not? I run the duct out with my dryer's duct. Let me know if you want some pics to give you ideas. The one thing that I'd add are that disposable surfaces are your friend in keeping things clean.
    >p100 filter
Will do nothing to protect you from resin or IPA. You need an organic vapor cartridge, which may or may not be combined with a P100. Bear in mind that these cartridges use activated charcoal and have a finite lifespan that begins decreasing the moment that you open the packaging, whether or not you're breathing through it.
    >elegoo abs-like
Elegoo ABS-like is a good starter resin because it's dirt cheap and it's real thin, which means that it's easy to work with. Don't be fooled by the "ABS-like" name, that's simply a marketing term that every manufacturer slaps on their resin these days, no matter how shitty it is. It's nothing like ABS, particularly if you over cure it like the manufacturer's instructions tell you to. I won't personally use it for gaming pieces any more because it's too fragile. Even when cut with some Tenacious it's borderline. Once you've got your work flow figured out and your settings dialed in, I highly recommend stepping up to a better resin after your Elegoo runs out.
    >but everyone here says they're great!
Most of the people here don't play games with their minis. A good number of them don't even own printers. Be very careful with any advice that you receive here.
    >>
    >>98906457
I did 9-10% tenacious in elegoo abs-like 3.0 and it's a noticeable improvement but can still break when dropped, just lower chance. Anycubic abs-like 2.0 is the other dirt cheap resin atm, and with 15% tenacious I feel it's quite drop resistant at that level, and quite cheap still. I usually printer much larger stuff than minis, eg 1:6 figures and props, so dont tend to game with them, but I do make and test their stress limits and give them to other people.

By chance is there a 3D printing resin out there that is resilient enough to have a good chance to survive the drop from table to a hard floor? I'm new to 3D printing if STL hoarding doesn't count for anything.
Generally I'm looking for a starter resin that will just work on it's own before I go into mixes.
Tenacious looks a bit too expensive for starting resin before I learn to get the ropes done.
