5 months of the old thread and not much has happened.Summer cons have been and gone and once again everything is fundamentally different. I don’t think we’llGo back to pre lockdown glory.Ho hum.Theres a few more bits and pieces before con season is over but I cba looking them up this time.

When anime cons became a proper thing in the 80s-00s attendees were expected to do work and support the con, either by running it, hosting events, volunteering etc. The expectation was that the more you went to cons the more involved you became to support the con/newer fans. Gen X/Millennials were used to making their own fun.Zoomers however expect to be passively entertained. Algorithms and instant dopamine hits mean that they don't want to put serious effort in for entertainment, they want it delivered. They'd rather turn up at a con and watch a panel than host one themselves. They want to be in a masquerade but not run one for anyone else.That just means that as the old guard retire there's no one to replace them. Why would a zoomer work their ass off to run an anime con when they can just turn up at an MCM? Cons struggle to fill the schedule with proper panels, let alone all the organisation to manage an entire con.Actual cons feel like they're sliding into extinction, replaced by soulless mega events. Feels bad desu.
It's been a week and half of the community still seems to be big mad at MCM London, we'll see those same people complaining now at May next year though

>ITT: Dating in the hobbySeems like there is a tough barrier to work through when it comes to trying to keep your partner within the hobby. My ex hated cosplay and anime and it has done nothing but drive me to want to date cosplayers, more to help them afford better cosplays and all that, as well as just enjoy cons together and all that stuff. All the apps try and say that you can narrow down your search, or apps like Boo, but it just ends up being normies who either catfish or ghost. Is there an actual place or app to use that isn't dog shit? At the same time I've found that cosplayers generally want to be left alone at cons while they do their thing.

It featured demons, cultists wicker men, and general folk horror enemies, had a good time. I've got a Warhammer fantasy event coming up as well, so need to finalise my kit for that. Kit wise, not much on the slate at the moment. Might try make some more camp accessories, and improve on my games box for any downtime I have. As the nights grow longer the number of games get thin on the ground, so it's nearly maintenance season.
