But. For real. Has anyone made a GTA clone in rpg maker?
>>4145006GTA was a top down scroller (if you don’t remember)
>>4144954Two-month self imposed Halloween game jam. Pretty epic. : )
>>4144820Like what?
>>4145570Argon hasn't been out long. 2-3 weeks? But it's a big leap forward. I've had models make mock-up database entries before. But you always had to do it in baby steps. They weren't smart enough to assign appropriate icon ids from a sheet. And stats were chosen at random. But Argon can look at the icon sheet and pick out the right elemental icons for elemental skills. >Argon + Antigravity It can create an entirely new database of actors, classes, items, skills, equipment, enemies, and troops with balanced stats ranging from level 1-99. 1 prompt, it's done in like 10-20minutes. It can also create a map with the tilesets. But it's usage isn't unlimited, so I wouldn't recommend it. A year or 2 ago I vibecoded this mindmap thing for RPG Maker. It was super basic. It places nodes, you type in names, you add a picture. You connect the nodes with lines. There was a lot to be desired, but I was satisfied with the fact it only took an afternoon. Argon took that and added like 100x more QoL features. I'm always telling people how foolish it is to ask artists to make generator parts, when the artist can just draw the character for you. Well, that's where I'm at with AI. I had it make a tool, so I can manually create a mindmap myself. But it can just do it itself. Give it a transcript of a game or movie, it'll plot out all the characters and relationships for you in under a minute.
At what point did you realize that the best style of RPG is the Ultima perspective?
>>4130518Play Ultima IV then Ultima V. There is no game like Ultima V, sadly.
>>4129212Is that actually what Zelda 2's overworld looks like? Jesus that's bad.
>>4070176Never, since I always knew this.
>>4088518I still play this game in dosbox-x. janky and crashes often but I keep coming back to it.
>>4117341another game I still play. imo the 80s and 90s of computing/console just have a certain tier of awesome. I spend too much time in koei games just dinking around or trying things.
We now know everything possible to know about Pool of Radiance. No thread yet?
>>4144489Wow, that's a whole lot of shit I aint readin.
>>4143915>>4143939What the fuck are you guys talking about? This is such a dumb fuck take I swear. I mean lets think about it for a second, extrapolate: At what age should you change how you talk? What should they say? How should they speak? What vocabulary? Does everyone you know talk like that? Do you talk like that? Do your parents or people you know talk in an old fashioned way? By that logic does that mean you should get off the internet too? Should you; upon reaching 30 suddenly take up news papers, and playing chess in the park? No more video games, just eggs and oatmeal and going to bed at 8pm? Or does your definition of maturity cease at simply 'fancy words = mature'. It also extends to yourself, do you feel that you NEED to do this in order to prove something to others that you're mature? Because then that's more of a YOU issue.
>>4144489Okay, but mald is really dumb, it ain't owning no libs. Really, positioning yourself counter to your enemies just means they inform your behavior, you enslave yourself to them.>>4144902>takeRetarded word for opinion.See, you should really avoid newspeak, because it's liable to calcify your thoughts. Like look how everything is "peak" to kids now, they can't really describe things with any granularity. This isn't some trick or conspiracy, it's that popular lingo is automatically conducive to the lowest common denominator. Beware irony.
>>4144902> eggs and oatmeal and going to bed at 8pm?This, but more like 9-10 pm
meh...waiting for forgotten realms unlimited adventures to be updated and the archive sites added to make super frua games without tedious methods to mod it. still play frua and fuck around playing modules.
Now that Daggerfall has been modded to be an MMORPG is it good?
>>4142252Yeah and they made Cyrodill an open air pvp zone. What a blunder. They also added microtransaction. Seems that they want to chase the PoE crowd. But they<ll never be able to balance PvP nor make a satisfying "loot threadmill" PvE experience with compeltely overhauling how the skill system work.
>>4142609>They also added microtransactionUh oh
>>4142950Yeah they are very close to reciveing some very friendly messages from Bethesda
>>4140672>Playing an elder scrolls game
>>4140906andyfall and various tweaks and graphics patches for the game in OG and quests say otherwise.
Post dev progress on your non-RPGMaker games. How's (You)r game going, anon?
>>4142286Where's your game. Just curious if you have one.
>>4142871Does anyone?
>>4143169I do. And by modern standards it was nearly totally handcrafted. However, if you've been paying attention, AI has gotten really good at programming. And really fast. If you don't use it, you can still make games obviously, but everyone else will make 3 games to your 1. I thought my next game would take 2 years. Now I think I can do 95% of it in 3-5 months.
whoa I didn't know there was an rpg dev thread here, neatI just finished this bad boy up, it's my first shot at a JRPG style game in GB StudioIt could probably use some balancing and tweaks here and there, but it's playable from start to finish.https://ralphnemesis.itch.io/project-sugarplumI took some inspiration from Unlimited SaGa for the board game movement (and light SaGa and SMT inspiration for the systems).
>>4143488>but everyone else will make 3 games to your 1.Ah, yes, quantity. Let's flood steam with even more AI slop. It will be good for everyone. Not just the shareholders and grifters.
Gears/Saga/Blade Genesis trailer imminent

>>4141621You only knew this girl for a single trailer and you already want her to be pregnant?
>>4142865Male instinct. Just human condition being what it is, I guess.
what did takahashi mean by this
So far the following balance tweaks and polishes will be in the next patch:>Morton has his ultimate item, the Puzzle Box>Papineau gets several defensive/healing and offensive skills that use cleaning items in your inventory>Calm Dan buffed, and the start of a stream gets more viewers based on how well the previous one did, however Beg For Money will reduce the maximum amount of viewers you can get>Dan's quest will permanently increase viewership>Sophie has increased ballistics and critical hit chance when hiding, and the damage of special marbles scales with level>Ambush will do more damage depending on how many status effects the target has>Coral Slingshot added to the flooded apartment: +45 ballistics and additional luck>All marble locations in the overworld will give special marbles in addition to normal ones, including the new slingshot in the flooded apartment>Hellen's Soul Feast will only target enemies, and both it and Soul Drain will be stronger>Massacre no longer removes the stalk status from enemies>Fallow Will will make weapon skills cost more STM>Unmask has been buffed to only hurt, confuse (40%), and stalk (80%) enemies, but costs 4 STM>Hellen is immune to the Soulless status>Grim Harvest does more damage, correctly applying the HP-reliant damage with the max health instead of the halved max health when the skill is usedComment too long. >>4145542He is bro tier like many psychos you recruit or otherwise befriend.
>>4145569lyle and spine belong in a category of their own when it comes to companions. at best the other companions have tried to kill you or will try if you piss them off enough (hellen, leigh, phillipe, spider, etc), but those two threaten supernaturally bad fates that go beyond mere death
>>4145581I would argue that Phil and perhaps even Spider fit in the latter category
>>4145583nah with phil you're just eaten and a fungus monster is spat out in your likeness. spider is trying to save you from literal infinite suffering by destroying your soul, which may be bad but it's not "and when the pain comes, it comes all at once. and it never ends" kinda bad
>>4145586>you're just eaten and a fungus monster is spat out in your likenessThere's a sidequest specifically highlighting why this is so cruel.
JRPG Fanart Thread>No NSFW>No AI

Bump
I'm enjoying the FUCK out of CK3 right now. Tribal start, custom ruler, made a CONFEDERATION got some rare 'chievement on 4% have, there was a serial killer who was killing people for years, couldn't figure out who it was and couldn't stop him... it was my champion/master of hunt and I found out when he KILLED MY FUCKING WIFE lol good thing I already had 7 kids and now I can form alliances with a new wife so I banish his ass.Crazy little game. Very underrated. Apparently you can laugh to death? lol...
>>4132329So here we are 20 years later. Cancerous, but still kickin'. Took some time to gather the lands due to realm laws, but once the inevitable crown authority faction from succession popped, it was an easy thing to grab a few more territories to form Germany, aka the true Third Reich. Jews haven't invaded our lands yet, so they're gonna avoid that rather "unfortunate" point in history for now. funny thing is that as soon as i became king of germany, the Emperor proceeded to give me half his kingdom without any arguments, but lucky for him i like to larp as a loyal vassal.
>>4132946>69lolalso 24k troops, holy shit, I can't get above 11k or something, but I am starting from nothing so idk what I'm even doing
>>4134692yeah, anything in the HRE is fairly ezmode, since you're relatively safe from outside expansion and can expand inside as long as crown authority isn't too high. i wasn't sure i was going to get as good a result as i did with that guy, but his son is turning out even better than him. and of course, i'm the emperor now, so we've entered a new age. As strong as I am, though, France is united and the Byzantine Empire didn't have to deal with the Mongols, so they've been expanding too. 51k is a lot, but it's about the same as they can pull, so the future is gonna get nasty.
>>4134842Crazy, I'm fighting battles in the "early" start I'm on my 2nd generation, it will be like 7k vs 6k soldiers and I thought that was a lot.Do you guys ever use the AI to fight or do you turn it off?
>>4140415i fight all battles manually. you always want to select an army and hover over the province to see your battle advantage before you move in to attack an enemy. it can easily make or break your army, so you have to choose your battles wisely, which the AI rarely ever does. if your advantage is poor, just wait awhile for the enemy to run out of supplies so they get a debuff. if you absolutely must attack an army with a huge disadvantage (like you're about to lose a war), that's the only way to even the playing field. otherwise i like to just wait awhile for the AI to take attrition damage from sieging before i rush one of their armies for the kill.
>Ah yes, ‘LLMs.’ The supposedly intelligent machines allegedly capable of replacing every knowledge worker. We have dismissed that claim.
>>4136812>indie dev to make a spiritual successor (it won't happen)My nigga, Exodus is exactly that, even has some ex-ME devs IIRC
>>4137406>No aliensWhat's the point?
>>4136812Good they can't keep dragging out the franchise to make more slop with it.

>2026>haven't played trails since 2020 >thank you shitposting frenzy>don't come back since rean isn't number one>back to 2026>on X browsing browning shit>find this>https://x.com/sd36011169/status/2113831939606183950What the fuck did this bitch do to chad coldsteel
>>4139575>What the fuck did this bitch do to chad coldsteelAurelia hasn't done anything to Rean. Only thing that happened was in CS3 when she got in the hot tub with the girls and claimed she could make Rean hers.In a memory door short VN in Reverie, Rean's family was visiting a hot springs in Longlai (friends of the Schwarzers) when at midnight Rean decided to go for a walk into the mountains. He got accosted by ninjas and fought a new secret ELOB disciple called Shizuna, who wields a demonic magick sword and knows an exclusive branch of the ELOB called the Zeroth blade or something like that. She breaks Rean's mass produced tachi in two, tells Rean that she is working for the Calvardian government and that this is a restricted area, and then Rean leaves without a fuss. 4chan Trails fans memed for a couple years that Shizuna had "beaten" Rean. The Kai no Kiseki animated OP teased a Rean vs Shizuna rematch, but it never happened and Shizuna is off somewhere else by the climax. So it's a vs subplot (or imagined) subplot that went nowhere. Neither Rean nor Shizuna care in universe. Some people think he will get a new magic sword called Laevatain in the next game, but it seems like grasping at straws like the "Olivier/Elise/Jusis will become the 7th Awakener" speculation during the CS era where all of the popular answers were wrong.
Haha...
>>4139588Anelace could beat them both of course
How would you design an rpg where each npc is a real character and has it's town story?Let's say I want to make an island with like 3 towns and 512 npcs. How would you make it?My plan was wirting like archetypes and pre planned story chapters, something like writing 10 stories of 10 chapters, and then randomizing the details across the npcs.Like Story 5 + Episode 8 plus the character sttats means, he will behave like Lancer type 3 and use agressive type 2 dialogs.
>>4144729yes, but the issue is I want hundreds of stories. So, the solution is a procedural system that combines pre fixed stuff.I think.
>>4144690>>4144731No one will read your procedurally generated slop. Even the best attempts in procedurally generated storytelling (Caves of Qud, Dwarf Fortress) suck cock and arse, and no one actually reads the generated text. If you're not a pussy, you will handcraft your world. If you can't do that, being a creative is not for you, and you should get a real job.
>only 512 NPCs, presumably with no voice actingYou could write the dialogue of 10 NPCs/evening, and be done in 6 weeks. Why are you so lazy? Handcrafting everything would have been feasible even with 5120 NPCs.
>>4144763>>4144765I mean handcrafting 10 stories with 10 chapters, and making like 10 types of dialog, then just picking the dialog that correlates to the combination.
>>4144777You are replying to a schizo
There was recently a huge sale on the Atelier series on Steam, anyone else pick up a shit ton of games? I bought the entire Dusk, Arland, and Ryza DX series. Playing through Firis right now, 100%'d Sophie a month ago.>QOTT: What did Gust mean by this?

How huge will karia end up being in the game?
>>4139441the games are designed to be replayed anon
You know they got a lot of fun games huh?I like the character designs too
>>4144764that's a very anachronistic thing to assume. double demon fang didn't become an extension arte like that until Destiny R. it was a standalone arte for multiple games before that.
>>4145033>didn't become an extension arte like that until Destiny RIt kind of was already one in Tempest.
>>4145041ah true I didn't realize Tempest came out a month before Destiny R
>>4145033It's just the way it's described. "After using sonic blade releases 2 extra blades". It made me think it implied you use Sonic blade first and then twin sonic blade to unleash the extra blade rather than what it actually meant that it's sonic blade with extra strikes
>>4143933Does Lailah count? She's had like dozens of other shepherds over the centuries (and maybe potentially idk who-knows-really fucked Artorius and gave birth to Laphi before reincarnating)
