You roll 1d20 and compare it to your THAC0, then compare it to enemy's Armor Class. So if your THAC0 is 15, that means in order to hit an enemy with 0 Armor Class, you need to roll a 15 or higher. If the enemy has an armor class of 5, you need to roll at least a 10. On the topic of Pool of Radiance. This shit was released on Steam today. Made able by the guys who released TOEE on Steam last year. How the fuck did the boomers in charge think this was a step forward from the Infinity Engine? JFC it looks horrendous. Any of you played this? Not just the re-release, but the original. What was you thoughts on it?
>>4134815Yes, I beat it some years ago. Bought the disc on ebay, patched it, and it ran fine. The low quality is because it wasn't by a major RPG dev like Black Isle or Bioware or SSI. Aside from the obviously bad graphics, it is extremely mediocre, with very repetitive encounter design. Once you've seen a few of the encounters and encounter types to expect, you've seen the game. I've played worse. It is like a 5/10, didn't hate it.

Whenever I replay this in the future, I'm going to try one of the alternate versions. I realized my hangup about no character export doesn't matter because I can just use companion to recreate my characters in the next game.Amiga is just the DOS game with better graphics. NES is more interesting though. It arguably has better graphics. Less colors, but cool sprites, and it has music, though I imagine that gets annoying. Kind of want to try it out.
