Does the stereotype of vans being associated with rapists have to do with how ugly American Vans are? The Dodge Ram Van, The Ford Econoline Van & the Chevrolet Vans are truly hideous. The Modern Day Van Market is dominated by the Ford Transit (designed by Ford Europe), the Dodge Ram Promaster (rebadged Fiat Ducato) & the Mercedes Benz Sprinter. These European Vans are much better looking & don't get hit with the same negative stereotype.

Land Rover single handedly stopped the Crossover Borg from destroying all old school offroad capable SUVs. The success of the Land Rover Defender caused Ford to resurrect the Bronco. The Defender also caused Toyota to refresh the Land Cruiser Prado to be boxier looking like the original Land Cruiser & also caused Toyota to bring the Land Cruiser back to the US Market. The Nissan Xterra is making a comeback as well, all thanks to the success of the Land Rover Defender!

How come Sedans, Station Wagons & SUVs keep getting longer & longer without increasing interior space while Vans & Minivans have remained the same length without reducing any interior space? Is the point of this to make all non-van vehicles impractical & worse in terms of handling to the point where everyone just has a van/minivan?

American Full-Size SUVs seem completely pointless. They're as long & cumbersome as Full Size Vans without having the cargo space of Full Size Vans. An SUV is supposed to give you slightly less cargo space & slightly worse gas mileage vs. a minivan in exchange for offroad capability & greater ground clearance. A 7 Seat Land Cruiser or 7 Seat Land Rover is a proper SUV.

Suzuki has officially taken the top spot as the UK’s most reliable car brand in the authoritative 2026 What Car? Reliability Survey. Climbing from third place the previous year, the Japanese manufacturer secured a stellar 97.8% reliability score, placing it a full 2% ahead of its nearest competitor. The extensive annual survey collected data from over 39,300 vehicle owners across 30 brands and 225 models, measuring real-world experiences with cars up to five years old. Suzuki also stood out for maintaining the lowest overall fault rate in the survey at just 10%.

Whats /o/s opinion on the Mercedes cle 53? I plan on getting a new car and my top 3 choices are the Mercedes, a BMW m4, and the corvette grand sport in that order. Mercedes has the best luxury but is the slowest of the 3. Still does 60 in less than 4 seconds. If the corvette had adaptive cruise control that would probably be my number 1 but to spend 100k on a car that doesn't have such a basic feature seems ridiculous. Not to mention too many angry poorfags will damage the corvette out of jealousy while ignoring the BMW and Mercedes despite them costing around the same. Whats your opinion?

Should disabled people be allowed to drive? The comments of filled with people claiming that anyone with a disability should not be allowed to drive, and if they were ever in an accident with a disabled person they would kill them. Generally we have a very low skill requirement for driving anyway because we build a society that relies on having access to a car to even perform basic tasks. Imagine how difficult it would be to get around where you live right now without a vehicle, now imagine how much more difficult that would be if you were in some way disabled. There are many videos of people in wheelchairs being denied access to public transport because non-disable people say they were there first. I think it's just a case of people seeing a disabled person doing the same thing that they can do and feeling very self-conscious. As well as the constant infantialisation of disabled people. Maybe licenses should be more difficult to get in general, so that we can be sure that everyone driving a car is capable?

    >Chinese automakers outsold Japanese rivals in Europe for the first time over a full quarter, underscoring how quickly brands like BYD Co. and Chery Automobile Co. are gaining ground in the region. >Registrations of Chinese-branded cars roughly doubled from a year earlier in the three months through September to make up 12.7% of total sales across the region, led by hybrids, according to market researcher Dataforce. That’s put them ahead of Japanese manufacturers including Toyota Motor Corp. at 11.9%. >While European manufacturers like Volkswagen AG and Renault SA still dominate the region, the speed of China’s surge has been a surprise. Five years ago, Chinese brands accounted for barely 1% of European sales. Japan’s automakers, by contrast, have spent decades building their position in Europe. Toyota has sold cars in the region since 1963 and now operates factories across the continent, while Nissan Motor Co. has produced vehicles at its Sunderland plant in the UK since 1986. https://archive.ph/1lFC3 https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2026-10-26/chinese-carmakers-overtake-japan-europe-byd-chery-toyota-nissan

Im planning to buy a R32 GTR in Japan next year, but instead of shipping it back to Germany I am planning to drive it home all the way by myself. My plan currently is driving it via China, (Kyrgyzstan), Kazakhstan, ferry it across the Caspian Sea to Azerbaijan in order to bypass Russia (ig no explanation needed why) then either to Turkey via Armenian Karabakh or via Georgia, then into Europe by either Transylvania or via West Balkans. Now the hot questions: A.Registration formalities: 1.Which country is responsible for issuing the export/import license? Country of origin (Japan) or country of destination (Germany). How long will the export license stay valid? 2.Will China accept temporary license plates of either country for transit? China is usually notorious for requiring temporary registration with „tourist plates“. Will they also issue such plates for temporary registered cars? B.Travel Route: 1. Which exit strategy for China? Xinjiang via Khorgas (the usual freight corridor exit point), or Tarim Basin via Torugart Pass or Nura Crossing into Kyrgyzstan? 2. Azerbijan entry: Is the Azerbaijani border open for foreign vehicles? They closed it in 2020 bc of Covid but have they opened it ever since. Bc if not I might have a problem (Russia transit is unsafe rn bc of fuel shortages and drone strikes along the Russian controlled Caspian coast) 3. Azerbaijan exit strategy: Is it safe enough to transit into Turkey via the Kharabakh and are the border crossings open? Or shall I better bypass via Georgia? 4.Europe route: Via the West Balkans or via Transylvania? Both are culturally rich places but I cannot decide which route yet For the whole B chapter: Which places along the whole route do you recommend visiting? The car will be overhauled mechanically prior to departure. Smaller repairs can be done by myself. I’ll buy the most necessary repair tools in one of those big box auto parts stores shrouded in legends by JDM enthusiasts like UP Garage.

Did you know if you buy a brand new car, and book it in for an immediate 200 point inspection with the main dealer before you've even bought it - just to make sure the factory didn't use a dodgy bit of plastic anywhere, and the engine sounds like a dream, then you drive it 1 mile out of the showroom it is actually guaranteed to catastrophically explode on the spot with no prior warning? There's also a small text clause in the warranty that specifically voids all coverage if it explodes in the precise way your car just did. They don't tell you this but it actually happens 100% of the time.

Do older cars and trucks just feel uh... more nimble? Zippier? Even if maybe they aren't as fast on paper? I test drove a 4th gen Tacoma today and my 2nd gen (2006) despite being a slow 4cyl with a 5 speed manual somehow feels better. I cannot put my finger on it. My old truck has considerably less power and the suspension is much bouncier. Yet it just feels perfect. I am happy and at peace with my old truck anons. I don't even think I would enjoy one of these new trucks if I was given one.

When will /o/ understand this fact? Auto tragic are only faster if all you care about is 0-60 times. Every single record was set in a manual because auto tragic can not predict what gear you need to be in on the touge. Is /o/ really so gay that it only cares about 0-60 in 2026? Eww

It's happening. Right now, you're reading this and at some level, behind some trim, under crome, along a window. RUST. It doesn't stop. It won't sleep. You know what they'll do for you? Right when it's most possible because of weather, for your car to get slammed into by a combination of shit driver and ice, they'll drop some nice SALT all over. Just shit it everywhere so Karens feel safe and RUST WINS. I hate rust. I hate rust on bolts when I try to do things. Fully 20% of all my garage deals in some way with rust or removing it. The most shitbox acceptable paint job from a chain spray shop that won't paint over your windows is about $3000. Why? RUST. FUCKING FUCK RUST. It literally targets the things I love most!

And even if I do find the damned thing how the fuck do i get it home if I need to drive my car to fucking go and get it? I certainly cant drive 2 cars at once and my wife doesnt drive. I drove a 911 Carrera S and a Corvette C8 Z06 back to back and aside from the exhaust note the driving experience was damn near identical. Small differences; 911 was more planted, Z06 was faster in a straight line but neither difference was all that significant. I think the C8 generation is going to go down as the greatest generation of corvettes, especially once the democrats sweep in 2026 and 2028 and the EPA makes it mandatory for us all to drive EVs or a 1.2L 4 cylinder. Actually they'll probably have us driving a fucking hit n' miss 1-banger hybrid econobox.

Stupid Questions That Do No Deserve Their Own Thread Old thread: >>29102887 (Dead)# Old thread: >>29074726 (Dead)# ————————— Long time no see, yeah, yeah, whatever. Help me out. I'm about to change oil and I realized that the last time I did, I put in the wrong one ! My notes say its ok but I didnt write down why, and I forgot. So maybe you fuckers can guide me. My owners manual says that alternatively to the recommended supra mazda original badass oil, I can also use 5W-30 or 0W-30 as long as they are ACEA C3. I did my homework and I know about the slight difference between 5W-30 and 0W-30. But the oil I used last year was .. 0W-30 ; ACEA A3/B3 , ACEA A3/B4 .. so not ACEA C3. Why was it ok to use that oil? How fucked am I? Should I iterate my challenge to the Nippon?

    >picrel Ferdinand Piech, responsible for leading the projects for the Bugatti Veyron, VW Phaeton, W8, V10 and Audi V12 TDI projects >Piëch has been described as being socially awkward and having an abrasive personality; some automotive journalists who have encountered Piëch described him as being uncomfortable to be around. >"Many of his CEO peers said they could not hold a normal conversation with him. Discussions could be punctuated with long stretches of unexplained silence. >Piëch was known as an aggressive and demanding manager, who set both lofty and extremely specific goals and standards for projects. He would often become personally involved in vehicle development, such as how he oversaw the development of the Audi 100's aerodynamics himself, keeping it secret from even Audi's top engineers to prevent any crucial details of the car's aerodynamic capabilities from leaking to competitors. >As Piëch rose to the top of Volkswagen in the late 1980s and early 1990s, then-CEO Carl Hahn took notice of Piëch's poor social skills and tried to position him as a technocrat kept behind closed doors.Hahn was particularly bothered by how Piëch behaved during a visit to the Yasukuni Shrine; while a Shinto priest was showing the shrine's collection of vintage swords, Piëch examined one and told the priest that it was a fake Subsequently, Hahn presented the Audi Avus quattro concept car himself at the 1991 Tokyo Motor Show and didn't allow Piëch to take part, which infuriated Piëch due to his extensive personal involvement in the Avus quattro's creation.

Why do you need a license to drive a car? Licensing obviously doesn't work. Most drivers are retards even with a license, and there's more than enough people driving unlicensed (or even suspended/revoked after having had a license before!) anyway.
