Unfortunately, the harsh truth is this: if you are able to do anything that means you are good at nothing. When there are job listings for simple graphic work, they don’t want someone with 5+ years of experience. If they do want someone with 5 years of experience, they expect an expert in one particular niche. Today, no one even wants to spit in my direction. No one is looking for a 35-year-old guy who has done everything (but nothing specific) because they have 100 young, dynamic grads fresh out of college to choose from. The competition in the big city is just too strong. For the past 5 years, I’ve been working from home part-time, and somehow manage to pay the rent. The MS diagnosis broke me. Depression, no friends, far from family, always making excuses. If it weren’t for my wife earning well and help from my in-laws, I’d have nothing. It feels like everyone around me is doing fine, earning well, and building great careers - except me. I’m feeling down, I’m sick of this fucking city and its weather. Complete and total noob here. I'm trying to make an image with the phrase "Excuse me, who are you?" on three different lines, and the words "I AM" hidden in the negative space between the lines, so that the text could be read as either "Excuse me, who are you?" or "I AM who I AM". As you can see, it just looks like a jumbled mess. Either it's illegible, or the words "I AM" are completely invisible. The two "I AM"s are also not aligned, which is kind of a bummer. The fact that the I is a single straight line makes this really difficult. I also tried putting all the text on a single line, instead of three separate lines, but that didn't really work. For this type of "negative space" text to be legible, each letter has to be the the opposite of the previous letter, but since I want all three letters in "I AM" to be invisible, that's not really an option. Any advice here?

ai generated photos just look like the idea of a photo rather than a photo, like everything is slightly too resolved, no weird shadow from a bad angle, no moment where the light was almost right but not quite, just everything exactly where you'd want it which is how you know nobody was actually there, and the design ones especially have this quality where every surface is perfect and the coffee cup is always at the right distance from the laptop and the plant is never dying, and at first glance it reads as aspirational but after a second it just reads as empty, and i think what's missing is resistance, like real photos have stuff in them that wasn't planned and that unplanned stuff is actually most of what makes an image feel like it came from the world, and these don't have any of that, they came from an average of the world which is a completely different thing.

Why artists use anti-aliased brushes, figures, and lines when drawing cartoonish images with no complex shading? It creates endless problems for them, it slows them down, it's inefficient, etc. Wouldn't it be better to increase canvas size by 4x and draw with aliased brushes, figures, and lines, and then downsample it with FSAA algorithm during final render to get anti-aliased image? (Of course, vector would be even better, but let's talk about raster)

Is there any empirical evidence that AI menus and posters reduce profits and/or engagement? Is it too early to tell?

What do you guys think of Frutiger Aero?

I don't know quite how I do it, beyond feeling out the image, but I'm able to colour and shape theory my way into some abstract images. If fellow annons are interested just drop random images in this thread with "Edit this" or whatever and I'll edit them. Not claiming I'm the best at it but, sure. Optional: Attempt to sell me a vibe and I'll go for it. Even batshit requests. I'll try to match the mood. I'm not limited to any one pallet you'll see. I specifically use the image editing tool paint.net and have been for years, including to improve my own breakcore photography-- without extensions, without anything more or less other than to support other people because .pdn isn't a widely recognized layered image format, despite it needing to be. It's even how I create and draw (subpart) art. Would like some suggestions for environments similar to it without genAI garbage. Thanks to how precise I gotta control the image it usually passes through 10+ filters before producing a finalized handcrafted result, takes about around on average ~10 minutes of undoing, redoing, and filtering. It's an artistic process in of its own right I guess.

Whanever I try to copy multiple raster objects from inkscape, for whatever reason it ends up messing up the edges, why? It didn't do this before
