What happened to all the sporty affordable USA cars like in the past? Did the corporations all just give up and become Chineseslop after 2008? Where's the high-performance sporty machines that youth are supposed to be enjoying? The dangerous two-door machines with responsive engines? The affordable sporty cars? Gone? Absolutely sad state Amerigoys. Even Detroit gave up Dodge to become Canadaslop. Wtf happened? The world used to emulate American cars in the past- is that really it today?

Base model rental spec 4cyl auto Mustangs are literally faster than every GT model from 15 years ago and back.
    >Where's the high-performance sporty machines that youth are supposed to be enjoying?
The "youths" seem to enjoy those V8 Mopars, which got stupidly killed off yet seem to somehow be returning due to demand. In more general terms however, modern youths and Americans in general are now poor, with the state of the world making everything turn more towards the jack of all trade type of vehicles that modern cuckovers are perceived to be.
I know you say "high-performance sporty machines", but if you look, we don't even have the economy-focused sporty machines anymore either. You used to be able to get coupe versions of econoboxes that would at least have the look of a fun, sportier car with econocar efficiency, but even those have died off in favor of more CUVslop. We're also many decades past the age of getting a warehouse job with a firm handshake right out of high school and being able to afford a brand new V8 muscle car within a year.
    >$20k could've gotten you your choice of any of picrel
    >>
    >>29132659
You can throw a whipple on a $10k Mustang and have a pretty fucking fast car for a youth. It's also cheap to make trucks fast these days.
    >>
Literally every modern car is faster than an 80s sports car unless it is electronically governed to not do so. It doesn't matter to kids.

    >front wheel drive loving millennials
Millenials are the ones wanting the sporty machines, dummy. You mean Gen X and Boomers? Last I remember Millenials are the ones making car content today.

Your video describes exactly how millennials allowed for 4 cylinder gookscrap to become the new norm

keep coping that we don't play with V8's, V10's and V12's now, grandpa. Italian and German machines as well. While you don't even own the old machines you talk and dream about, but can't afford KEK

There is a resurgence of these around here. I wonder if they understand that Dodge isn't an American brand anymore

The FWD cancer was already in place when GM decided to release the abortion known as the J-body in 1982, which somehow survived until 2005. The best that generation would have gotten was the FWD Cobalt SS.

yeah like GM wasn't the one who pioneered boring FWD econo crap boxes during a time when everyone else around the world were making fun, rear-wheel-drive cars. No wonder you dont see these forgettable cars driving around today

    >Millenials are the ones wanting the sporty machines
they aren't. it's the boomers buying them. the boomers are the only reason we even have manual sports cars. Millennials only want front wheel drive asian stuff.
    >>29132733
but you could still get tons of RWD options in the 80s. again, boomers were the only ones keeping these platforms alive. the FWD shit was for younger people.
    >>

    >they aren't. it's the boomers buying them. the boomers are the only reason we even have manual sports cars. Millennials only want front wheel drive asian stuff.
Millenials -want- them, but cannot afford them. The Toyoburu FRS, Miata, Mustang, Elantra N, is basically what OP and several others are describing. Inexpensive, fun, "sporty", big aftermarket, entry level, and can all be made to go pretty fast.
10 years ago when everyone was rolling in hellcats, Raptors, TRXs, Mercs, BMWs, etc is because of 0% financing. Now that young people have to finance their car at 6% or higher for 7 years, and car prices for anything with serious power starts at $60k young people kinda don't care about cars. They see it as a rich man's game.
I'd suggest this is even further evidenced by ANY shitbox with 100k miles is still 50% the price of a brand new one. Either they buy an unreliable clapped out shitbox for insane money, or incur a decade of debt for something kinda fun.

This was still kinda true in the 80s and 90s, however since USED cars basically were worth scrap value over 75k miles, the fun stuff was cheap, but still a bit of a shitbox.

    >What happened to all the sporty affordable USA cars like in the past?
'08 Market crash limited personal income.
'12 CAFE standards imposed heavy fees on small cars, killing most off. Sport compacts became rare and small trucks stopped existing after those regs.
Crossovers were considered "light trucks" by CAFE standards, so why produce small vehicles for the US market if they cost more than crossovers after CAFE fees?
    That's what happened.

What was the alternative? The legit drag strips were shut down by the time we were old enough to have performance cars and street drags were a ticket to jail time and a crushed car instead of the slap on the wrist that boomers got. Twisty back roads and canyons were all we had left and Japan was the only country making cars that were good for it and affordable to a late-teens/early-20s guy.

A mustang with a manual starts at $48k.
American sporty cars are long gone.
There's no camaro. Everything is an SUV other than the Mustang (again, $50k if you want the lowest trim in manual).
    It's dead.

I rented a new Mustang with all sorts of bells and whistles... holy shit, that was one of the most dangerous fucking cars I've ever driven. I fished tailed at least three times from the rental lot to my house. I know you're going to say I'm a faggot and fair game, maybe. But I drive like a little old lady and wasn't trying to do anything fun with it. I'm not trying to wreck this fucking thing first thing on the way home from the lot.

The mustang had so many bells and whistle, it was honestly overwhelming. If I drove it for awhile maybe I'd get used to it. But it was that faux man stuff where it's like hyper unnecessary "luxury" trying to appeal to men and justify the sticker price.

I didn't experience another experience like the fish tailed for the first of that four day trip with that car. But by far the scariest car I've ever driven. If I was a younger man with that car, I would be dead. One of the worst handling pieces of shit I've ever experienced.
