Is it a gimmick manual or the future for manual driven cars?
total gimmick, would have been better to just give it a sequential lever
QRF for those of us that stopped caring about Ferrarislop years ago?
>>29135049It's an automatic but with a fake "manual" gated shifter to send electronic signals to the trans for when to shift. Basically like a racing sim setup.
>>29135111americans would hate this but it seems like something that would be popular in europe. european enthusiast don't like manuals.
>>29135111Is this because no human can manually shift through the gears fast enough?
>>29135135The Ferrari guy on Chris Harris's review basically said that.
>>29135049>>29135111it's transmission by wire.
>>29135111Oh, so just like a modern fighter plane joystick? Yeah, that's for fags.
>>29135118It might also save car manufacturers money down the line. They can make sports cars Auto/Manual at once without having two different production cars. It would also preserve value better, as the future market is bigger than for just auto or manual. Harry seemed to have enjoyed the manual gearbox.
>>29135111Why not just have a paddle shifter?
>>29135138That was a cool video
>>29135118Nigger you are 99% automatic, gtfo with your babble
>>29135193Not with enthusiast which is what my post is about, retard.
>>29135111Very gay
>>29135111It has a clutch pedal as well
>>29135015Any videos of it being driven by someone besides some limp wristed tech tag that can't shift for shit?
>>29135687Harry Metcalfe did a good video
>>29135111As far as I understand the tech, the clutch pedal also controls the clutches inside the DCT, so pedal position will correspond to the actual position of the clutch, just no mechanical linkage. For instance you can raise the clutch pedal to the bite point and the car will crawl forward like an actual manual.
>>29135015I've tried having this conversation but 4chan just isn't mature enough for it. It's such a fascinating moral dilemma but no one here can form thoughts more sophisticated than "fake and gay you'll never be a real manual"
>>29135784intellectual discussions are gay. if you're not just following your gut and acting instinctively in 2026 you're not going to make it.
>>29135816So you don't criticize women and leftists for being irrational and letting their emotions dictate their decisions? Just making sure you're being fair and balanced.
>>29135818midwit take, stop replying to me fag.
>>29135843This reaction means you were in fact a leftist woman. Just proves my point that there can't be a real conversation on this website.
>>29135848>wah argue with me i need to feel smartlol
>>29135880Makes sense that you think discussion and argument are synonyms.
>>29135884ok you win the "discussion" lol do you feel good now
>>29135687https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EhWUY5bCLX4As usual Harry glazes the shit outta Ferrari
>>29135892Of course not. I was already despondent at the state of the board and you only drove the point home even further. What is even the point of this place if you can't have a simple conversation about a new car? Why are you and people like you so adverse to talking to someone about something, yet you go to a place designed to talk to people about things?
>>29135764>For instance you can raise the clutch pedal to the bite point and the car will crawl forward like an actual manual.Yes he does it in this video>>29135191I think the engine even "dies" if you raise the clutch all the way up.
>>29135901
can i disengage the clutch and rev up to the limiter while rolling?
>>29135924"TheDrive" did a clutch dump burnout in one, so presumably yes.
>>29135898I just said not a limp wristed faggot, if this dude actually snatched the shifter 1 time he'd pull a muscle or something. The fact you even suggest Harry for anything besides overall boomer impression of a car means you can't shift for shit either, you may be able to actuate a clutch and get down the road but you fundamentally can't shift.
>>29135970Cool it Senna. COOL IT
>>29135135Yes. Retards will cope and seethe but it's true for all new high performance cars.
Yall bitching about little details of a car you could never afford. Like you'll ever have anything better than the 200k mile ford Taurus your dad gave you to commute to your McDonald's/Walmart job
>>29138951The reason why it's interesting is eventually this will trickle down to normal cars, just like disc brakes, DCTs, turbos, DGI etc. It's irrelevant right now on a new $750k Ferrari but it will be more relevant in 10 years when it's an option on a GTI or Mustang
>>29135204there are no mutt enthusiasts
It's a DCT in a drag because >actual manuel would require crashtesting that particular car variation which is insanely expensive >making manuels not explode at 700+ hp is expensive>making the manuel autotragic on demand is HIGHLY attractive to normalfags (who actually buy those cars)>better for emissionsfaggotry So basically "real" mechanical manuels won't return. This is literally the only thing you could hope for in the future.
I think the real question is why they don't do this for every DCT car if it's just a case of adding an extra switch
>>29139210It's a lot more complex than "adding an extra switch"
>>29139100i agree, which is why europe cannot be car enthusiast.
>>29135015This is humiliating. Driving a modern car is humiliating. I would be immensely embarrassed if seen driving any car made after 2020. I would rather drive my dad's car. I would rather it be KNOWN I was driving my dad's car. Holy shit.
It's a gimmick. Paddle shifters are true to their form. The optimal way to shift gears in an automatic transmission. Why complicate it?
>>29139252Because it's more fun. Would you rather drive an automatic car with paddle shifters or a manual car with a gated 6 speed?
