Smartest and most convenient shit ever, it removes the mechanical effort of actuating a high pressure multi plate clutch directly. This allows the rider to focus on precise actuation without fatigue. Go Honda.

Soviets had semi-automatic clutches back in the 60s, a very simple mechanism of a single cam connected to the sihfter rod.

The advantage of a mechanical linkage was that it'd pretty much always work.

Automating the clutch is extremely gay, and should be subject to the same laws crossbow hunting was once widely and wisely subject to - if you have some sort of actual documented physical ailment that prevents you from actuating the clutch with your foot or with your hand, then you can have an automated clutch.

I’m really loving the striple, it feels like a cheat code for everything
You can just reach your desired speed for a corner in a few seconds, if you wanna come in extra hot you can pull a 60-0 in no time so there’s less stress about overcooking it. Parts of the road I’d lose traction on before are just mild bumps now, I feel glued to the ground at all times.
It never feels like I’m pushing the bike past what it’s comfortable doing, it’s always happy to do whatever I ask of it.
I still gotta get a new front tire because this one is 9 years old and square so it sorta feels like steering a supermoto with how wide I have to keep arms to maintain pressure and keep extra focus ok how the tire feels, it’s slipped on me twice now.
Found out the previous owner swapped the gearing from 16/46 to 15/47 so gas mileage has been pretty shitty but I’m having fun with it until I change it back

    >good body positioning
Tbf for street riding the position used by the fastest riders (at least here) is usually something close to old school racing positions where the chest is over the tank and the lower body is shifted over.
Control is king and you’re a lot faster when you’re able to quickly brake, steer, and accelerate without moving your whole body as well as being able to more deftly address traction loss
    >>29137956
Right? I was really convinced this bike was overhyped but when I started looking into livable middleweight bikes for myself I was shocked by just how much it knocks out every other bike in its class
    >>
    >>29137951
Crutches, why can't you just shift-lock and back it in
    >>
    >>29137958
Same here. I gave it a test ride at a dealer more out of curiosity than anything else (I was there to look at a speed twin originally) and I was blown away with how nice it felt. I didn't want to look at anything else after that and ended up buying a used one just a couple weeks later.
    >>
    >>29137969
Haha, the test ride blew me away too. Triumph is really gung ho about all their dealers offering test rides and I can see why.
Was honestly shocked when I showed up and the dealer just gave me the key and told me which direction is more fun then told me he’ll “see me when I’m back”
The only bike I’ve ever ridden that I liked more than my FZ6, couldn’t stop thinking about it for like 2 months after the fact. This thing is fuck ugly but goddamn if it isn’t a barrel of fun
    >>

Oh man, i saw some asshole with a salvage h2 motor, no headers, and doing a bump test with ignition after peeling it out, you just see the worst timing and blue fireballs overheating everything, and it skips a beat like every 1000rpm very noticably
Thats what passes for SHE RUNS GOOD TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT, fucking nonsensical

I also come from the anecdotal experience of trying to teach my friens how to ride and im pretty sure theres no hope at this point of him being too stubborn and or stupid to abandon the boomer wisdom of absolutely zero applicability to two wheels
But nope, since he had riding fundamentals of equivalent 4 maybe 6 riding hours on a two stroke dirtbike which his cousin limited him to third gear only, that equates to decades of years riding fundamentals
I cannot get him to see through the most modest of fundamentals of clutch controls and ive tried everything- only thing left is a new set of clutchplatea or for sake of simplicity in the fix, an oil change with something better than the former bike's owner of royal purple
Im thinking thia guy is never going to get his actual license before either his health croaks or the alcohol takes him, or he just says fuck it and gets in an inevitable crash because hes the type that saw one boomer newscast say SPEEDING LE BAD and now its programmed into his psyche he can never spees in the city- despite that being your advantage and a life saving skill of say, avoidance and maneuverability
Seriously, his low speed maneuvers are so shit- at first i was accusing the boomer exam lasy the first time he failed, but now i have seen the exact same things repeated to his test failure notes- deapite objections, recording his riding, asking him to do drills repeatedly which he might zing one of the 4 he cares to attempt
Absolute lack of effort, yeah shes right, this guy should not be on the road without some kind of major overhaul; like 3 fucking wheels and all the safety equipment in the universe type

At first I hated the idea of it, but after learning more about it, E-clutch is basically an upgrade on quickshifter, you can still customize it later on the bike so it just behaves like one instead of going full scooter. There's even also a mode for you to not be a tard and stall the engine on 1st gear, it sets on neutral kinda like a scooter, and then you can just give it gas and goes on first right away. Helps with rush hour traffic for burgers that arent allowed to filter, lmao.

Yeah man you totally get it, kinda strange how few anons are on this frequency when it was just common sense back then
It's gotten worse because people don't read primary sources or get off their high horse to practice the more tedious aspects to riding. The mechanical ignorance is akin to the magic box theory where people have no comprehension to how a thing works mechanically yet have expectations for said thing to do XYZ demands.

It's a combination of laziness and ignorance wrapped in a cerebral poindexter-like inferiority complex like this dweeb >>29138190

'It's like an upgrade to the thing that does everything for you'
Like this goober talks like he's playing a video game instead of riding a motorcycle.

Task saturation is a myth past a certain engineering/design point. If you can't use your hands and feet in tandem then you lack the human hardware required to ride on 2 wheels.
    >>
    >>29138215
Also social media totally filled the new bloods heads with shit and their mental sponges got soaked with frothy piss (tiktok, ig, shorts, the new moto culture stuff etc)

The point of a slipper clutch is to free up brain power during hard braking and downshifting into a corner. That's about it. Auto blippers are similar, not having to fuck with the throttle lets your right hand solely focus on brake pressure.
    >>
    >>29138232
I'm not advocating that everybody should just embrace these and forget the old techniques, but less mental load = less fatigue = more laps put down safely and more learning and improvement achieved safely.

    >free up brain power
    >Yeah, use LESS of your mind to corner
Anon, all a slipper clutch does is prevent the rear wheel from locking up when YOU FAIL TO DOWNSHIFT CORRECTLY
It's a buffer for failure, not an enhancement for cornering or whatever silly brain load meme you're yapping about (if your brain shits the bed for cornering, let alone high stakes limit pushing track riding. Then you shouldn't be on 2 wheels. No amount of tech will save you from yourself and no amount of tech will mask your lack of foundational skills)

    >>
    >>29138249
If i'm spending 20% focus on line selection, 65% on brake application + braking point choice, and 10% on banging 2-3 downshifts and slipping the clutch by hand into a hairpin on a hard braking zone after a straight, that's 15% focus I could have devoted to line choice and/or braking point and trail braking. All of the guys with slippers racing supermoto are faster than the ones without. It doesn't matter as much on a dry track, but on an even slightly wet or dirty one, it helps keep the rear end in a *controlled* slide instead of chirping or otherwise excessively slowing the back tire. The FS450, Desmo 450, and 450SMR all come from the factory with adjustable slipper clutches because everybody converting motocross bikes back in the day was spending extra to install an aftermarket slipper anyway.

It's ok pastanon, Honda e-clutch is just a fancy auto+quickshift combo, as for me, I stopped hating on it since its just not for me. I am already good with the clutch alone on my KTM without upgrades because I refuse to give money to any motherfucker for stuff they already locked me on it, and if I had it I still highly doubt I would use quickshifter on a fucking ADV bike, if it was a RC on a track, probably would help, but it just ain't my thing. As for eurocucks brands doing this shit I sincerely hope they get the source code leaked and reverse engineered with shit like claude AI, its for this reason I got still respect for Suzuki making the GSX-R like it is still with all the old shit desu, electronics should be for maintenance troubleshooting and ABS.

As for retards buying e-clutch Hondas and crashing, I just see it as a win because these fuckers indeed will be filming it and putting it on tiktok instead of taking lessons, when I had my few last sessions my teacher even made me ride with just hand on the throttle doing hard turns, no left hand allowed, helped out a lot in learning how to balance and lean the bike. I'm saving up to get an Enduro bike later, ideally something like WR250, YZ gets objected since I don't have a truck to tow so it has to be street legal, and I'm not a cityboy, like (You)

    >>
    >>29138534
They are sickeningly expensive. I'd probably get an older GS, V-Strom or Tenere for touring. If you drop it when you're offroading it won't matter. Your 500 would probably get irritating on the highway being smaller displacement.
    >>

You can tell the anti e-clutch autist in an American, the kind of rider that takes his bike out once or twice every week between May and September. Stays garaged all the time otherwise, and barely accumulates anything more than 2-3k mi/year.

If you actually ride your bike daily in addition to using it recreationally, then the e-clutch is a very nice thing. Stop and go becomes a lot easier, especially when returning home tired after a hard day's work, not having to fuck around with a clutch is a nice thing.

I've only test ridden an NX500 with eclutch, but it's everything Honda claims to be. In a similar vein, that's the reason why I own a 300cc beater Chink scooter for commuting to work and all other errands. The fully automatic transmission is great for this usage, and the underseat storage + top case is enough to hold a week's groceries or store the helmet+rain gear in it.

You specifically said literbike to get out of talking about the VFR lineup, aka the best sounding and actually comfortable sport tourers ever.

AJP PR7 may be a better way to go. I know you aren't asking for recs, but I don't have any experience with the trannyslap other than what people have told me. It's a fine adv, more road oriented, and bullet proof as any honda. But performance wise it's not very competetive

Offroading in public is illegal. You can offroad on private property and "offroad" on dirt public roads. Trans Euro Trail is 100k km of such an "offroad" track, enough for you and your grandchildren to try.

Cagies slip clutches too. Often too much. My gf used to ride the clutch with a few hundred rpm at every red light until I literally shouted at her.

    >>29139079
Gooks only do their best to not appear rude. Do not trust the yellow devil.
    >>
    >>29139076
There's an optimal point of slip/go that people autistically go on about that can save the cluch thousands of miles but you can slip as much as you want. You'll probably break it but you can do it.
    >>
    >>29139076
Slip it. A small blip on the throttle, start releasing the clutch, converting the stored kinetic energy on the flywheel to forward motion past the engine's idle speed at first gear, and then reapply throttle.
It becomes second nature after sometime, so much that you can take off on level ground without even touching the throttle. And on inclines, you won't have to use the handbrake, quick transition from brake to gas and proper throttle application results in taking off with minimal clutch slipping smoothly.
Do note that clutch wear is a function of temperature created on it during extended slipping with high RPM, normal takeoffs create almost no wear to the clutch. Motorcycles, due to the nature of their multiplate clutches that are cooled in oil, almost never wear their clutches, it's the reason slow speed technical riding keeps the engine at steady RPM, and you use the clutch lever to control power to the rear wheel as needed (clutch in to tighten your curve, clutch out to straighten up).

Anon can you explain to me the logic. Why would you want to buy GSX-8R with pisstwin if there's Gixxers with 650, 750 and 1000 cc and proper engines? Like what should happen to your life so that you open a local marketplace and look specifically for 8R?

The 8 series really makes no sense.

In my shithole, it's engine is to big to be lams bike. So no beginner buyers.

Power it sits in the dumbest place, especially when you make bikes in same capacity.

In technology they do has a thumbs up for what it has.

Price it falls flat. For an extra $4K AUD you can get GSX-S 1000 and most people when they get their unrestricted licence they will just go for the bike they want.

Probably the reason they made the SV7.

Maybe people liked their SV650 they had a long time ago but wanted something with a more modern frame, better brakes, but otherwise similar riding characteristics? This shouldn't be that hard to understand.

Heated grips randomly started working again today.
    After months of them not-working.
I even tested continuity earlier in the month and there was no continuity on the left grip.
But now they both work fine.

Maybe the grips were calling me a bitch for trying to use them in 10C weather.
