It's been 15 years since Obama Motors killed Pontiac, post your fondest memories with themFor me it's seeing a really cool 4th gen firebird every day omw to high school which was quite a rare sight in eastern europe
>>29138637>pontiacDead>SaturnDeadAnd yet somehow Buick survived
The saying never meet your heroes is true, but man, fuck, if there was ever a generation 2 of the Solstice/Sky, those would have been amazing cars. The generation 1s really followed "bring the concept car to life" a bit too closely and had a lot of dumb design decisions, but they drove great at speed.
happy 100th pontaic.... there's 2 months left.. maybe GM has a surprise revival coming soon...
>>29138647the only thing that would get me to care about any dead car brand getting revived would be if they sold new cars for under 20k starting MSRP because i'm broke as fuck, but i know damn well if there's gonna be a brand revival in current decade it's gonna be to make it some EV-only brand with a starting lineup of 2 different crossover models and a light SUV and nothing else
>>29138653is that what buick is doing now? how the mighty have fallen
>>29138637>post your fondest memoriesI painted this 59 myself and drove it to college. When this pic was taken I'd already sold it and was driving the purple chevy behind.
>>29138654>look up buick 2027 lineup>FOUR (4) different crossovers of varying size and NOTHING else
>>29138637>83 years and it was only relevant in the 60s and 80s
>>29138640>And yet somehow Buick survivedit's just there to keep UAW workers employed
>>29138640China reaaaaly likes Buick
It was a rebadge commuter slop company even when I was a kid. Sure, you had the WS6 but those were unobtanium and now even the most basic V8 ones are fucking impossible to find.I press S to spit on graveSS
>>29138647>he wants a brand to be revived as yet another cuckover dumping groundTell us your IQ anon.
>>29138874how was Pontiac relevant in the 80s?
>>29138879GM also had some sentimental attachment to Buick and didn't want to part with it because it had historically been their favorite division and was one of the founding makes when the company was founded in 1909.
>>29138637it was just a Chevy with edgier trim and interiors
>>29138637Bob Lutz said Pontiac hadn't turned a profit since the Clinton years.
>>29138654>>29138672>Rebadged Trax>Rebadged Equinox>Rebadged Trailblazer
>>29138654don't cry for Buick, it died before you were born. the Grand National was the epitaph on the tombstone.
>>29138637it was a senior Chevy for most of its existence, so, whatever, man

>>29139060^This.
>>29138891CONFIRMED CHINA LOVES BBC(BIG BUICK CARS)
>>29138637Always liked this thing
>>29138640>And yet somehow Buick survived>somehow Buick survived>And yet somehow>somehowBeen telling you fags for 15 years now. It's because Buick was (and still is) profitable and Pontiac and Saturn were not. It's not a fucking mystery.
>>29139024>>29138647This pile of shit is literally ground zero for the current crossover plague. Do you really want to see more of it?
>>29139084BIG BILL HELL'S BUICK
>>29138637>post your fondest memories with themHas and continues to save me from walking in winter. I love driving nice and slow at night during snowstorms in my warm and comfortable box.>>29138669GOBLESS>>29139064GOBLESS
>>29139220The Grand Cherokee and other unibody 90s SUVs were crossovers before that.
>>29139182See >>29139039Pontiac was just an expansion make created in the 1920s and had never been that important outside the DeLorean era; it was more expendable than Buick.
>>29139061Pontiac had I8 engines until 1955 because Buick cockblocked their planned V8 launch in 53.
>>29139300the original (pre-55) scheme was that it was "senior" Chevy, had a one inch longer wheelbase, and an optional I8. remember that Oldsmobile and Cadillac got modernized OHV V8s first, in 1949 and the other makes not for a few more years. Oldsmobile sixes disappeared in 49 and Pontiac sixes by 52 due to scanty sales (about 30% of total volume). Also Pontiac was a nonentity until Bunkie Knudsen revived it, the make had a nearly anonymous image and was described as being "a car for a middle-aged high school principal." it was Harley Earl's least favorite of the five GM makes.
>>29139304in the 1920s only Cadillac had an eight, a flathead V8 as V8s were their gimmick while the lower GM makes had I4s or I6s but over the decade the fours were dropped and the I6 made the base engine so eventually the middle divisions got I8s to distinguish them from Chevy, while Cadillac had exclusively V8s. Buick got an I8 in 1931 and lost its sixes. Pontiac and Oldsmobile got I8s a year later but theirs were flatheads and not OHV like Buick's because the latter's gimmick was OHV engines.
