Why does Lexus use these retarded lug nuts?
A 60 degree taper is perfection, no need for anything else
    >>
Because they're better than you and they know it.
    >>
    >>29135420
It's the alternative to machining and inserting steel tapered seats inserts into your aluminium wheels.
Pretty much all aluminium wheels used to use shank wheel nuts back in the day when alu was first becoming popular.
    >>
    >>29135426
    >inserting steel tapered seats inserts into your aluminium wheels.
I've changed wheels on likely thousands of cars
& And I have never seen that before.
    >>
    >>29135449
Show me your magical aluminium wheels which don't take shank nuts but also somehow don't have hardened steel taper inserts.
You were probably just too stupid to notice them.

    This is news to me.
    Interesting.

    >Show me your magical aluminium wheels which don't take shank nut
    Pic related
    Although I know a $1,000 wheel isn't exactly common.
    But they do exist.
    >>
    >>29135452
    Forgot pic.
    >>
    >>29135522
Most WELD wheels take shank nuts so I don't know whats up with that one

I've been road racing with them for years and years
    60 degree taper life.

I want more threads showing though.
1-2 threads past the lug makes boomers freak out even if it doesn't violate their rules.
    >>
    >>29135566
Show me what the seat looks like then
    >>
    >>29135420
the taper's only there to nudge the wheel into position as the lugnut is tightened, all lexus and toyota wheels are hub-centric. Lug-centric is objectively inferior.
    >>
mcdonalds ass lugcentric trash send that shit to carmax
    >>
    >>29135452
I’ve been working on cars my entire life and scrapped like 100 sets of alloy rims and only ever run into 2 sets of rims that had steel inserts, most don’t, I check every rim with a magnet too so the scrap yard can’t fuck my rates up
    >>
    >>29135593
    See
    >>29135522

    >>29135626
Lug centric makes sense on race cars though.
No hub centric wheel is gonna fit larger hub bearing sizes on our cars.
That and it's way easier to find (real) forged wheels as lug centric.

    >>29135635
& Those lugs are off a double wishbone car.
    >>
    >>29135790
wow that's a really cool story dogfucker and yet you haven't shown a closeup of the seats on any of those wheels because you'd probably prove yourself wrong
    >>
    >>29135936
you see how I posted a high resolution close up so that you could actually see wtf is going on with the seat? >>29135538
    >>
    >>29135943
I literally check every wheel with a magnet so the scrap yard can’t Jew me, like I said I’ve only seen it on 2 sets and I simply use a hammer and chisel to knock em out
    >>
    >>29135973
Those are some very compelling words you've written dogfucker but for some strange reason you still won't post pictures of these mythical aluminium wheels without hardened steel seats.

    >>
    >>29136414
I got 1.10 per lb last time I went, call every scrap place and ask for a price on alloy wheels, make sure you get a price, write it down, they will often give you one price over the phone and a different price in person, if they try and do that tell them you called ahead of time and got a price that was more, also make sure there’s no valve stems or steel inserts(Kek) I crush the wheels in my log splitter and the tire falls right off the rim, some places have different rates for crushed wheels vs whole wheels so make sure they don’t try and Jew you on that too
    >>
    >>29136163
Any reason you chose to avoid actually putting it in the hole where it would get stuck to the steel insert dogfucker?

You see a dogfucker tell the thread miatas don't have steel inserts, then you see a miata wheel posted with steel inserts and the dogfucker change the subject and you think to yourself "wow that dogfucker really proved his point!"?
You see a dogfucker tell the thread BBS wheels don't steel inserts, then you see original BMW BBS wheels posted with their steel inserts and the dogfucker never brings up his BBS wheels again you think to yourself "dogfuckers rule!"?

Brudda. Just because your one wheelset was one way doesn't mean the rest are. Steel inserts on ally wheels are very uncommon.
