Should disabled people be allowed to drive?The comments of filled with people claiming that anyone with a disability should not be allowed to drive, and if they were ever in an accident with a disabled person they would kill them.Generally we have a very low skill requirement for driving anyway because we build a society that relies on having access to a car to even perform basic tasks. Imagine how difficult it would be to get around where you live right now without a vehicle, now imagine how much more difficult that would be if you were in some way disabled. There are many videos of people in wheelchairs being denied access to public transport because non-disable people say they were there first. I think it's just a case of people seeing a disabled person doing the same thing that they can do and feeling very self-conscious. As well as the constant infantialisation of disabled people. Maybe licenses should be more difficult to get in general, so that we can be sure that everyone driving a car is capable?

If you can competently operate your vehicle then you should be allowed to drive. If that means you need some contraption so you can use the throttle with your hands or steer with your tongue or whatever the fuck then so be it. The tests should be harder and more comprehensive though, at least in the US.
