Why didn't their cars have any success in USA?
    >>
    >>29136167
too weird, crap build quality, and inconsistent parts availability
    >>
As far as France goes. From my minimal understanding they didn't have good sales, parts, and repairs distribution in the murricas. Few dealerships, not much advertising. They were also apparently unreliable back when they were sold here and parts were probably difficult to get.
    >>
    >>29136167
Because americans are mentally retarded. It's simple as, really.
    >>
    >>29136176
us has a higher average iq than both of those countries though. probably a greater percentage of white people too haha.
    >>
    >>29136174
French engineering is from the planet Neptune. they have some absolutely nonsensical and arcane ways of designing a car.
    >>
    >>29136167
they didn't take the US market seriously; it was mostly opportunistic money-making for them
    >>
    >>29136167
Stellantis is very popular in the USA.
    >>
    >>29136191
    Delete this, now.
    >>
    >>29136167
Americans think the French are fags.
    >>
    This is just dum.
    >>
    >>29136177
    this is absolute bollocks
    >>
    >>29136167
It's not that italian cars aren't successful in the US, they are, as long as it's a supercar. As for regular cars, Fiats are too small and too cheap (and they'll be rebadged as Dodge/Jeep anyways), Alfa Romeo never figured out this whole reliability thing and they hate manufacturing cars outside of Italy, Maserati is too confused about itself to actually sell cars, and Lancia haven't produced a single worthwhile car since the 90s. The french is another history, the way their cars are developed would never work in the US, both because they're weird, and because french tax laws are utterly retarded and killed the chance of anything with an engine bigger than a V6 from being developed
    >>
    >>29136191
You weren't supposed to point that out.
    >>
    >>29136191
only the american branch of them is.
    >>
    >>29136167
Because manufacturers like peugeot make daily driver cars with outwardly hostile mechanical design considerations which make them a fucking pain to work on a lot of the time. Fiats work well enough... in europe. Driving small city hatchbacks in the US of A has massively diminishing returns. They make compact commuters, but that's it, and that's not enough for the average US buyer.
    >>
what France and Italy could not do that Germany, Sweden, and Japan did do was make cars that were designed well and did not use Rube Goldberg engineering tricks
    >>
    >IS THAT THANG SMALLA THAN A MOTHERFUCKIN GREMLIN???
    >MAH ONKLE HE DIED DRINK DRIVIN A DODGE OMNI BACK INNA DAY
    >IMA NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVIN NOTHIN SMALLA THAN A F-250 Y'ALL HEAR ME
    >DAS RITE
    >t. Average mutt
    >>
    >>29136167
Bro name one Italian or French car that isn't a complete gay ass little egg shaped and McDonald's strutted cuckbox. Hard mode, no ferraris or laborgheenys
    >>
Forgot to add twingy gets a pass but nothing else
    >>
    >>29137216
    >G*rm cars not using Rube Goldberg engineering
This is a troll, right? Also Mazda and Mitsubishi prove Japan isn't immune to it.
    >>
    >>29136167
For the most part, they were too expensive for what they were. They could've cut manufacturing cost if they had plants in NA like the Japs and Germans, but since they were on the Allied side, they felt that they could just coast on vibes for the next generation. Ultimately this just makes for miserable products not worth the price by the time the Xers matured.
    >>
    >>29137331
    >Italy
    >Allied side
    Uh...
    >>
    >>29136174
they also cost the same as a bmw/mercedes without the brand cachet or luxury and they were unreliable where they couldnt compete with japanese cars

    >>29137243
even the worst mazda/mitsu still has decent bearings and seals and parts, rotary being the exception
    >>
Welp, you tried, guys. Unfortunately, the emphasis is on "tried."
    >>
they're meme cars in Europe even, junk for poors
    >>
    >>29137343
this looks like some sort of weird corolla with an early fox body mustang's notch back.
    >>
    >>29137343
one time back in the 80s this Puerto Rican douchebag used car salesman tried to sell my mother one of these turds. she took it for a test drive and was like this is crap i'll pass. mf-er really tried to do the hard sell too like "aw come on lady, you don't know what you're talking about. this is the best car in its class you can buy."
    >>
    >>29137343
there was also the Renault Fuego, which...ha ha that was pretty bad
    >>
    >>29137337
    >people still thinking Italy was Mussolini all the way through the war.

You clearly have internet access. Use it to be a better person.
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Italian_campaign_(World_War_II)
    >>
    >>29136167
The big 3 (automaking countries) already cover
    >reliable
    >luxury
    >value
So there was no demand for yet more brands that had weird designs and parts and few dealerships
    >>
    >>29137434
Big two you mean? (Germany and Japan) I sure hope you don't include burgermobiles in there.
    >>
Your average American wouldn't fit in a panda
    >>
    >>29137436
burgermobiles are what people buy for value, value meaning number of features relative to price, with size and horsepower being features that are important to many burgers
    >>
    >>29137434
for similar reasons British cars also never quite made it here
    >>
French engineering is way too out there.
    >>
Fiat got into the US of A through Jeep, they just don't know it yet.
    >>
    >>29137441
Britain could sell premium brands like RR but their average shitboxes went over like a lead balloon.
    >>
German manufacturers always admired American land yachts and strove to emulate them and Japan had cheap reliable small cars but the French just do everything very weird because they're contrarians for the sake of it.
    >>
Europeans can’t build anything that isn’t retarded, gay, or insanely expensive.
    >>
    french
completely opposite mindset to america regarding
    >race
    >urbanization
    >transportation
    >car design

    Italy
surprisingly similar approach to car design and desirability, but they are too prideful and arrogant to either recognize or admit that the US is an advertising-based market and that people will not automatically know and seek out their products
    >>
    >>29136167
When they tried to break into the US market the main demographic for new car sales were war veterans that spent literal years listening to the people from said places lament about how they hate their own vehicles and wish they could have US stuff because it sucked less by a gigantic margin.
Couple this to the fact that every segment that they would try to compete in they made worse cars than the worst US cars also by a gigantic margin.
Add to this part scarcity and now you have 0 want for the American public to want to learn how to work on them.
Literally the only reason why nipnop nigmobiles even caught on was because they were so dirt ass cheap they could afford to lose across the board until they didn't.
Now go blame Japan for stealing Europe's market share for 40 years until Euronigs figured out cloth insulation is just a good way to maintain plausible deniability for "We're too dumb to make plastic wire casings" every time their cars caught on fire which was daily.
    >>
    >>29137448
even back in the 1920s it was said that Mercedes made a better Packard than Packard. they were making copypastes of American luxury boats at that time.
    >>
    >>29137216
    Germans
    >Actually went to the US to see what they liked, also advertised heavily to yuppies
    Japanese
    >actually went into the US to see what they liked
    Swiss
    >just made a good product to begin with and priced competitively
French, Italians, every other part of europe
    >WHAT THEY SHOULD LIKE OUR CARS BECAUSE WE MADE THEM, NO THEY DON'T NEED REPLACEMENT PARTS, NO YOU DON'T NEED ADVERTISING, THEY SHOULD BE GREATFUL
    >>
    >>29137459
I didn't know the swiss made cars
    >>
    >>29137461
    Yes
    >>
    >>29137459
    same with bongs lol
    >>
    >>29137459
and South Korea...lol offering cheap crap and ez loans to poors
    >>
my dad had a Plymouth Cricket in high school, it broke down every other week and getting parts shipped from the UK was slow
    >>
    >>29136167
Both of these countries are usually associated with art, not engineering prowess.
    >>
    >>29137472
South Korea learned that just becoming a parts bin for their cars allows them to corner the desperate retard market of the destitute poor. Of course now they are realizing what nissan realized and that getting known for garbage makes retards self conscious and eventually run to another brand
    >>
what we've consistently learned is Americans will buy European premium cars for the snob appeal but VW aside their shitboxes never succeed here
    >>
    >>29137509
even then we never get the shitbox trim level M-B and BMWs
    >>
    >>29137436
    Why would you include germany?
    >>
    >>29137774
this is probably USA stats where German cars only last as long as the warranty
    >>
    >>29136167
    >Never advertise in the US.
Most people in the US never heard of an alfa
