it became impossible to buy beef jerky in the store where I live, so I'm considering ordering from amazon. the problem is that I don't know which brands are good and had good jerky and bad jerky in the past. My wife’s mother is visiting, and Tuesday night she’s cooking us a carp. It’s a tasty fish, I have nothing against it. But because it’s supposedly filled with impurities, she buys it live. And for three days it’s been swimming up and down in my bathtub. Up. And down. And I hate it. I can’t stand the sight of it... moving its gills. I haven’t had a bath for three days. I can’t go home until the carp is asleep. Because if I see it swimming, I’ll kill it.

I'm trying to get into fish. Well not 'into' into, I already like a good salmon or tilapia filet. But I want something that's got some heft to it, that goes well with rice and roasted vegetables. I know tuna steak is pretty legit, but I want something where if I were to eat it daily it wouldn't slowly kill me. I currently eat frozen hamburgers, pork sandwiches and whatnot from the gas station that I partially thaw under my ass while I work, so I figure I can't get much worse. Pic related is the kind of thing I'd like to have, just not tuna all the time. I love a good cucumber medley.

Experimented with something tonight and while I would not call it a success, it's also not a failure. I think I'm onto something here. Much more experimentation is needed. You know those dehydrated onions McDonald's uses on its smaller burgers? I partially rehydrated them in water and then finished the rehydration in boiling butter. The idea was that this would make a flavored butter topping for steak. I used unsalted butter. This turned out to be the wrong choice. Also I can taste to much of the water and I think I used too much of the onions. Next time I will try using salted butter, less onions, and less water. That is all.

I had a mcrib for the first time today. It was alright, the sauce was okay tasting, sweet and smoky with an offtaste you expect from fast food sauces, pork patty equally mediocre, it was at least moist and had some pork flavor, and the pickles and onions give it some texture and tang, but overall it's not that great. just can't believe mcrib has so much mythos and passion just because it's a regular limited time offering. if they made this a regular menu item it would be gone within 1-2 quarters

I tried Gin and Red Bull and I have to say. Vodka and Red Bull is plainly better. White monster ultra and gin is simply better. Tonic and Gin is simply better. I think anything is better than Gin and Red Bull, it's like I mostly taste red bull because of how well red bull masks the taste of gin. I have to add a lot of it and it's a bit like the two just don't mix as well. With Vodka and red bull the vodka amplifies the candy flavors with it's bitterness. It's like I've crafted an unholy combination that shouldn't ever be allowed to exist in this universe. I apologize to the universe for making this drink, this combination shouldn't be allowed to exist. I know I bought a shitty gin that probably isn't from UK, but the other one was from USA and I couldn't stomach this idea. Maybe if it was a whisky in place of sctoch like some affordable Jack Daniels tennessy or smthn.

Is it wrong to kind of want to go eat at fast casual places every month or two? I mean like at places where I can't quite make certain foods as good as they can? I get berated at times from my SO for wanting to eat out now and then. I don't want to go to those places because I'm lazy, it's because I can't cook stuff in that fashion well or it doesn't come out tasting like it does when I eat there. So is it OK if you do primarily cook and make meals at home to sometimes want to try eating out at other restaurants. Not fancy restaurants, just regular restaurants?

The fundamental premise of Raising Cane's is mayonnaise. Their "famous sauce" is largely mayonnaise. Their chicken is deliberately undersalted, so you can dip it in the mayonnaise. The fries are served without ketchup by default, with the understanding that you are going to dip it in mayonnaise sauce. Even the bread is given suggestively as a tool to help you finish off the mayo sauce. Rounding out the meal is a cole slaw with a few pieces of lettuce and cabbage, and you guessed it -- more mayonnaise. When you go to Raising Cane's, you are in fact going there to eat mayonnaise.
