Depression meals to keep the stomach full.Starting with the humble tuna casserole.

>chicken/vegetable bake>chili-mac>noodles w/ butter, milk, cheese for sauce>hobo scramble (eggs, potatoes, cheese, butter, onions, etc) w/ hot sauce on top>Salisbury steak w/gravy
I know it's cliche, but I love the classic chicken breast, rice, and broccoli dinner. Really easy to make. You can vary it up a lot depending on how you season the chicken. The rice can be plain white with butter, cheesy rice, you can use the drippings from the chicken on the rice, or you can make it Asian style and use sweet n sour sauce on the chicken and rice. 3 ingredients can turn into 7-10 unique dishes

>>22268593>humble>tunapick one.tuna is too strong of a horrendous flavor to be humble.
>>22268636When it's in a casserole the flavor mellows out a ton. Tuna casserole is actually rather bland.
>>22268664Gotta toss the 'basco on it even the most bland tuna casserole is gold
>>22268675I use Louisiana hot sauce with my tuna casserole. But yeah, I love the stuff. I didn't necessarily mean "bland" in a negative way.
>>22268610>hobo style eggsFucking HELL yeah
>>22268636Nigmei, boy.
>>22268593ketchup and pasta
For me it was rice and pinto beans with a peanut sauce on top consisting of PB, soy sauce, sriracha, garlic, brown sugar and maybe 1 or 2 other thingsI actually kinda yearn for it every now and then even though I'm no longer jobless
>>22268593actually cooking something disqualifies it from being a depression meal
>>22268593One of my favorite comfort foods just so happens to be one the cheapest things you can make: Southern fried cabbage. Just a bit of onion, a strip or two of bacon and a head of cabbage and you can feed an entire household for just a couple dollars. I don't like it because it's cheap. It's simply delicious. Cabbage fried in pork fat and onions... I mean, if you don't like that then something is wrong with you.
>>22268705This is pretty damn close to this korean dish I made once, fried cabbage frittersTurns out basically everybody has a version of this and it is indeed really damn good
>>22268705that does sound pretty good, think i'd want to add garlic though
>>22268723It does have garlic. Figured that kind of goes without saying, like the salt.
