>£10 for a bin-lid plate with choice of roast beef/chicken/gammon/lamb/pork or a mix thereof and unlimited veggies, roast potatoes, stuffing, gravy etc etcThis place is sacred to UK society and I don't think we talk about it enough. I'm not pretending it's haute cuisine but I am saying bloody well done. True fans know about the ridiculous £6 Toby Carvery unlimited breakfast too.
Gerrit down yer lad. It's righted many a hangover.
>>22262215>HOME OF THE ROASTNobody ever roasted meat before Toby came along?
>>22262242It's gallows humour. Toby died after getting locked in one of his walk in ovens. He literally is (or was, rather; RIP Tobes) The Roast. By all accounts, he was delicious. Perfect crackling.
>>22262215>£10 for a bin-lid plateHave a spare bed for the Fortnight?I'm comin over!!
>>22262269You lying son of a bitch
>>22262219In my town this would cost 50 dollars
>>22262359>AI sourcepoisoned well
>>22262361Im sorry friend
>>22262242They roast and serve meat for 10ish hours a day, 7 days a week and provide all the accompaniments. So it's not outlandish to call themselves the home of the roast. Just to help you out, your reading comprehension is clearly below par, they didn't say that they were the inventor / creator of the roast. If you can explain why you thought "home" meant originator, I can help you.
>>22262219Blimey, all that for a tenner?
>>22262219Cyoar
Saw a wog family first time in me Tobey Cs last week, lads
>>22262219Would, for a tenner
>>22262242I think adding “CAR PARK” lets them get away with it>>22262432>>22262539Agreed, need a place like this by me right now
>>22262215>Toby CarveryBeen a long time since I've been to one but they are pretty good. You pay your money and a guy will carve your meat for you(you can have all of them if you want) and then you just shuffle your tray along and help yourself to a wide section of veg, stuffing, yorkies, etc.Something else that might surprise Americans, is that if you are 16 you can drink too (only if you have an over 18 with you).
>>22262521Good thing assimilation innit

>>22262521Anglicisation in progress. They'll be white before you know it
>>22263142>>22263161>Responding to a yank in earnest.Utter fucking faggots. Little sycophant uncle Toms. How does American leather taste?
>>22263164Meds. Now.
>>22262215isnt this the place where Gordan Rmasey made them literally pave their tarmack/pavement/parking lot with like grease from the hoods or some shit?
>>22262215>HOME OF THE ROAST CAR PARK
I've seen a bunch of UK foodtubers review Toby Carvery and they all say it sucks now. >>22263932I don't think so. He went to a carvery called The Priory. It's a good episode of UK Kitchen Nightmares
>>22264073>I've seen a bunch of UK foodtubersI would take some of these You-tubers with a pinch of salt, some of them leave bad reviews because the owners refuse to play their silly games, like comping their meal of giving huge discounts.
>>22262215American anon here. I just checked out Toby's website and honestly the food looks and sounds pretty good. I like how you can customize everything. It seems like this is what Golden Corral wants to do but fails at horribly. UK anons, what is it like? Is it the quality of an established mom and pop place? Fast food tier? Somewhere in between?
>>22265012ok but when I looked around on youtube why did I find thishttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AaGBiBW1fdUexplain yourselves
>>22262215>Full meal for £10Beautiful
>>22265012Yeah it's alright mate. Like it's not going to be an artisanal roast but it's nice enough and there's loads of it
Why are you eating a carvery like you're stuck in the fucking 70s?
>>22266593>YOU CANT LIKE THIS KIND OF FOOD BECAUSE IT EXISTED PREVIOUSLY shut the fuck up ya fuckin idiot>>22265137Oh cool. That plate just looks like Thanksgiving. If we had one in the USA i would try it
>>22262219What is that bacon wrapped around?
>>22266705They're called sausages. It must be an old picture (if it even is a Toby) because nowadays they do chipolatas and you have to pay extra.
>>22266710So Vienna sausages?
>>22266718No, real sausages, "cocktail sausages".
>>22266705>What is that bacon wrapped around?Cocktail sausages . . .it's what we Brits call pigs in blankets.
>>22266610Roasts and thanksgiving dinners aren't all that different from what I can tell. Main difference seems to be that Thanksgiving has more gourds, more cranberry sauce and Turkey is the only meat
>>22266710>>22266722What is their seasoning like?
>>22267473They are usually just normal pork sausages - only smaller.
>>22267470Yeah and we also dont do the Yorkshire puddings. Actually during Christmas my aunt makes them for that dinner. Some people do ham on Thanksgiving, and ive also had pheasant and duck too. Turkey is usually the main meat though, youre right. Either way a big plate like that is very comforting.
>>22267518What's Christmas dinner like for you guys? Is it a bigger or smaller feast than Thanksgiving? You guys usually eat ham right?
>>22267788Depends on the family. My family is huge so both Thanksgiving and Christmas are big dinners. For Christmas we dont do turkey. Normally my aunt does a crown roast of pork. Or maybe some steaks; london broil and ribeye are favorites. And crab legs/lobster sometimes too. Along with tons of vegetables and good quality bread. Cornbread makes an appearance too sometimes. We have had ham too but it's not the most frequent thing. Usually 2-3 of the meats are present because my family gatherings easily reach 40-50 people.
>>22267788>>22267849Thanksgiving is a MUCH bigger deal in my family. I have a very wealthy uncle and he usually hosts a huge thanksgiving thing at his huge $10M+ house and invites pretty much the whole extended family, now that most of my cousins are married and have kids it's like 40+ people and a whole 10 foot long table full of self-serve food. Christmas was always much smaller for us, just my parents and brother plus maybe 1-2 guests, and it's always been a more conventional multi-course meal served at the table. We usually do beef, often a standing rib roast.
