Anyone consider the no-food diet in their culinary journey? the way it works is you stop eating and save money and also lose weight. it's basically a win-win
>overnight fastingFor most people that's just called sleeping.
>>22265686I’m a food fiend so I hit a wall quickly with restriction
>>22265686I dabble in longer term periodic fasting. To make a long story short, I kind of discovered it on accident and starting reading about it and found the data re: longer fasts to be compelling. A medically supervised ( think health spa) kind of multi day fast has been popular in some eastern euro counties for a long time so there is a mountian of quality data on it. I find it to be helpful. Its usually a pretty intresting experiance mentally. It also makes me feel pretty amped up and changes my thinking a little bit while in the fast state.Really turns up the volume of my internal monolog. It makes me need less sleep but feel extremely rested in the mornings. And I get a ton of stuff done. Kind of a nervous stimulant energy. I even studied for a securities law exam and it went so well I considered fasting out for the actual exam. After breaking the fast I feel an intense sensation of relief and relaxation and my diet has noticeable residual effect for a time. Basically after the fast all I Want to eat is lean protien, raw veggies, nuts, and fruit. Overly sweet, starchy, or fatty foods are repulsive to me for a few days, and after they stop being repellent they are still really easy to avoid. I typically do 3 days. But have gone as long as 6. I have experimented with different frequencies but keep coming back to once a month as a good interval. And at least 2 full days as a minimum period. Any less than that seems like a waste of effort. The first day does fucking suck but it gets alot better. In fact I usually go to bed on Monday night feeling pretty shitty then wake up Tuesday morning feeling like some kind of high powered mutant. 5 or 6 days and you start getting into strange territory, but 2 or 3 days is not long enough to carry any real risks or require special procedures.
>>22265686I get very nauseous when I'm hungry and it makes IF hell for me. What do?
>>22265828There are some fat fucks out there that regular get up for midnight snacks
>>22265686Easiest way is to develop gallstones so eating anything containing fat means high chance you're doing to be in excruciating pain for the following 5+ hours.
>>22265928Same. After like 12 hours I start feeling sick
>>22265930My Aunt's partner gets up in the middle of the night and makes a chocolate milkshake every night. He's a dickhead though
>>22265977> Easiest way is to develop gallstones so eating anything containing fat means high chance you're doing to be in excruciating pain for the following 5+ hours.I was doing IF for a while and developed gallstones. Would occasionally have an attack until I stopped it altogether. Nothing since.
I do 1500cal/day when dieting as one meal around 1pm of 900-1100cal and the rest I have late at night, usually around or after midnight.
>>22265989>partnerDid they meet at the O.K. Corral?
I did one meal a day for a long time. Not sure how healthy it is but I was in great shape at the time and never had anything bad happen. Now I usually eat 1-2 meals per day. Sometimes I will fast more than 24h but I don't plan it, it's just that if I'm not hungry I don't eat.
>>22265909>5 or 6 days and you start getting into strange territoryfunny reading this on my 18th day of a water fast
>>22265686easiest diet cause you can still eat like a fat fuck, just with more time in between
>>22266095How can someone fast for that long without feeling sick/pissed constantly?
>>22266157i have fat that the body can burn to get energy. lost 23 pounds so farwhy would i feel sick when i have enough energy?
>>22266176Anytime I try fasting, I start feeling sick a few days in.
>>22266179third day is the toughest one. it's mostly mental thing and once you get over it its a breeze
>>22265928Drink carrot juice. Little beet kvass as well.
>>22265686Basically what I do is eat a meal and then I don't eat for several hours until it's time for the next meal.
>>22265686I've been fasting for 3 days then eating for 1 day (and not that dirty, stuff like chicken breast, pork loin, beans, etc. but plenty of it until well-satiated) for about a year. I've lost 165 lbs. No GLP-1. It just fits with my mental illnesses. I love eating to satiety and I love looking forward to cooking and eating. If I tried to eat like 1500 cals a day, even in one meal, with no full satiety ever I'd go nuts. I'm 196cm tall so I can probably queue up more digestion than average so maybe it's easier.
>>22265686Not how it works.Longer fasting to our stone age body is a hunger period. Uh oh, the hunters did not have any luck, who knows when the next portion will come.It leads to the body holding on to its reserves for dear life. Once food becomes available it then starts storing some extra reserves for the next hunger period. The first weight loss is water.Only if it's short enough so ot does not look like a dangerous hunger period that won't happen, but then it also has basically no effect, it's like calling the 90+% of overall time that you do not spend eating something "fasting".
>>22265686I could eat one meal a day quite easily and I don't know why I don't.
>>22265867there is an adaptation period but afterwards its pretty easy
>>22265867If there's such a thing as a food fiend I am one and fasting is the only way I can restrict calories enough to be able to eat to satiety at maintenance or below maintenance calories. E.g. I can eat a small breakfast then a big meal in the evening every other day and hit 4K calories, and fast the other day for a 2K average.
>>22266450Existing research counters this almost entirely. Specifically, cellular regulation via autophagy doesn't even start being meaningful in most people until more than 18 hours of fasting. It's most likely that modern eating dogma is another sacrificial lamb upon the altar of corporate greed and personal ego and many unusual behaviors globally can be traced back to this with compounded interest.
>>22266603>>22266623Maybe I’ll give it a shot again, I do like how much better food tastes after a fast day
>>22266450common bullshit repeated about fasting. your body doesn't enter starvation mode for several weeks. you don't have the willpower to last that long.
>>22265686OMAD is kingOMAD using cheap high satiety foods (potatoes, oats) is emperor
>>22265998Most likely your diet changed because you are a retard who thinks he needs to eat "greens" every day and you were eating a proportionately higher amount of spinach
>>22265686I have two days of restricted calories but high protein, and then one day of maintenance for my goal weight. Three times a day I have a really leisurely jog outside for ten minutes in order to get 30min of zone II cardio daily. The most strenuous thing I do is a 15min mobility routine in the morning.Once I reach my goal weight, I'm going to 80/20 it and just make sure that 80% of my maintenance caloric intake is the protein and micro-nutrients I need and then 20% reserved for whatever goyslop I want.
>>22265686I just eat from 12 to 8. It works for me. I don't get hungry or need food before or after that.I just do it because I enjoy it, not for any other reason.
>>22265686I do this because im really lazy and have no good food in the house so I just dont eat sometimes.
>>22267591Omad is trash, ADF is supreme
>>22267654technically correct but long term it's unsustainable
>>22267779only for weaklings that hate not eating more than they love eating a lot
>>22265686One time I tried intermittent fasting and I had to call it off after like a week, even though it was supposed to last for a year because I was so miserable and on the verge of collapsing. I was dizzy and out of breath everywhere I went. I lost the weight, but it wasn't worth it. I don't know how people do this.
>>22266450This supposed hunger mode only starts when you haven't eaten anything in well over two days. Not eating for a day or two was completely normal in pre-history. Gorging yourself on 6000 calories once you actually caught something on day three is just as natural. In fatties, that sort of binge eating goes on every day.
>>22265686Yeah, I tried it a few times. Once I hit the 36 hour mark my feelings of hunger went away.Unfortunately I have a nasty untreatable parasitic infection, and at the 48 hour mark my nose started dripping blood because apparently fasting makes my immune system worse. So I can't fast for the long term.
>>22270219>I have a nasty untreatable parasitic infectionno you don't
