Is this true or just another case of thing, thing japan
>>22266652Thing, thing JapanThey're good, I've had them, but it's nothing to particularly write home about. Bourdain just tried to make everything seem mystical and profound.
>>22266666
>>22266667this. I've had them in Japan for what was it like under $2? at that price it makes sense. but they sell for like $4.50 here.
>>22266652the target audience for convenience stores in japan is literally everyone, they're clean and literally everywhere so people of all walks of life go in there to get something to eat cus they're so busy7-11 in the US is pretty much only frequented by addicts and the utter dregs of society, the workers rarely speak english and look utterly miserable like they're all indentured dubai slaves that haven't slept in days, outside of dense urban cores, you have to drive to go to one and if you can drive, you can go to a real store that sells real food and not the day old overpriced shit 7-11 calls "food"
>>22266652Basically when you're big in Japan tonight, big in Japan be tight, big in Japan ooh the eastern sea's so blue.
>>22266830This. When I was a degenerate addict and alcoholic I would walk to nearby 7/11 at 2 or 3 in the morning for late night munchies. There were always prostitutes and pimps and other unsavory characters loitering in the parking lot doing their business. A few times I went in so fucked up I didn't remember and the clerks would laugh at me the next I went in and make a snide remark like "you had fun night yesterday, boss, hahaha". Once I went after drinking and eating an eighth of shrooms completely blacked out and had no idea I even went to 7/11 that night. The Indian clerk laughed his ass off at me the next time I went and was trying to tell me how big my pupils were and how fucked up and unable to talk and walk properly I was. He demonstrated a zombie shuffle and opened his eyes as wide as they would go like the classic clingy gf meme and started moaning and shuffling around like a zombie. I was very embarrassed. Oh yeah, a few people were killed in the parking lot of that 7/11 over the years I was going there. And on the ground outside the store I found a bag with a few Vicodin and another time I found a bag with a bunch of Klonopin and an OC 80. I threw the OC 80 away because I was scared of ODing but I did the Vics and Kpins. This was like 20 years ago so I didn't worry about fake pressed pills or fent contamination. Ground scores used to be good finds. Now I wouldn't trust anything I found.
>>222666527 eleven here tried to sell these. Marketed them with road signs like they were some incredible thing. The ad looked disgusting.
It's like famichiki where it's good but nothing truly amazing. Better than in the states but then people use 7/11 in japan the way people here use grocery stores so it better be better than one of our gas stations.
>>22266652don't worry soon jap land will have lots of pajeets then there will no longer be Thing japan it will be think indian just like the rest of the world and it's shit teir items :)
>>22266652It's better than what you'd find in an American gas station, but that's not saying much
>>22266652I don't like egg salad, and I don't think Japanese egg salad would change my opinion on that.
>>22266652Why would I ever have an egg salad sandwich from anywhere?
>>22266652"Thing, Japan" is just Americans discovering that other countries exist and the people there have actual standards.
>>22266652nips put msg in it
>>22267121>egg sandwich >:|>egg sandwich with egg :D
>>22266652what's the quality difference? does the japanese egg salad contain eggs rather than Eggs™? is the bread free of HFCS and synthetic protein agglomerates? during assembly, was the sandwich not finger fucked by a mystery meat minority with hepatitis and multiple criminal convictions?
>>22266853God damn what a read
qdvyuewfjnw3
Weebs who come here act like these crust cut-off child sandwiches are the second coming of Escoffier. They're OK. nothing more.

>>22266853I have a similar experience but with q White Castle on the corner where I used to catch the bus.
>>22266853lol haha that's funny but clerks don't really remember you when you go in shitfaced, right? they see all sorts of people, there's no way they'd remember you haha
>>22266673thats because japan is a poor country now. in bong land my petrol station sells an egg salad sandwich for £4, looks like an in-between of op's pic but more chopped up egg. a rip off but its a petrol station, thats expected.
>>22266673The ones over here aren't even good
>>22266990had it with cress? thats the classic english egg salad
>>22266853On one hand, this is the kind of post I come here for, such a cool story. On the other hand, fucking hell.
>>22266652Didn't Bourdain kill himself with pillows of love?
>>22266830I've written about this before, but it's also that Japan just generally has a higher quality floor for everything, people won't put up with trash quality just because it's from a convenience store or whatever. I've always found it interesting that, unlike pretty much everywhere else in the world, places around major tourist sites in Japan actually tend to be quite good too, probably for the same reason - unless it's one of those places that almost exclusively attracts Western tourists, and then you get trash like the Robot Restaurant. >>22267532Depends on the place, if it's an indie liquor store or whatever they definitely do. My old neighborhood friends and I knew the usual evening counter guy at my corner store pretty well and I'm not one to really get that fucked up but I'd go in there all the time and get regailed with stories of how fucked up one of them was when he came in the previous night or whatever.
>>22266667>Bourdain just tried to make everything seem mystical and profoundYeh but it's hilarious watching normies eat up his opioid babble.
>>22266652>Thing>Thing Japan>Thing Japan that Uncle Tony the pedophile protecting drug addict has endorsed
>>22268042She's a dirty, smelly, hairy lesbian
>>22268052>I've always found it interesting that, unlike pretty much everywhere else in the world, places around major tourist sites in Japan actually tend to be quite good tooI was also surprised that price gouging depending on location wasn't really a thing. Like the 7/11 literally in front of the airport boarding gates sell stuff at the exact same price as any random one in Tokyo. There's meme stuff that cost an arm (these fancy melons, Kobe beef, etc.) but pretty much everywhere you can get cheap and good food.
>>22268065UGH!
>>22266853New pasta just dropped
>>22266652>thing JapanWhy do retards get so hung up by this? Yes, if things are nice, clean, organized, safe, and most importantly, not a complete shithole, things in that place tend to be objectively better.
>>22268341because it points to the current state of the west and the 'people' that caused its decline. leftists hate and have no answer to this
>>22266652overrated. you can buy these things in the us now too, and nyc/portland/gay area food carts now use "sando" as a generic term for any sort of sandwich to upcharge and make it sound "trendy"
>>22267159based chinamenBoredain was a good storyteller/narrator or whatever, but always sensationalized everything.
>>22266667Isn't this the one that got attached to a post on /sp/ due to an issue with the website?
>>22268405That rings a bell, yeah
>>22266834This is the best post
>>22268341Also it hurts my feelings when they attack Japan.
>>22266652>no crust>factory line tier toast on par with american "cheese" productsA case of immense faggotry is what it is.
>>22266652Used to crush these bad boys and a famichiki just about every day when I lived there. The ham sandwiches were pretty meh.I miss the counter girls. They had a great sense of humor, remembered my cigarette brand, and used to call me Poketto-san because I never used a bag and threw everything in my jacket pockets.>Ohaiyo Poketto-san!Now here in burgerstan its just a rehash of watching carbon copies of >>22266853 loitering around and asking if i got fifty cent or a cigarette in between nodding off while the flock camera blairs out authoritative threats under flickering nightmare lighting7/11, japan is a beacon of light and hope. Its just miserable and filthy here. I want to go back.
>>22266652It's a $2 sandwich you can eat in 1 bite with misleading packaging (all the filling is pushed to the front)
