Gonna motivate myself into drawing daily so i am starting this thread for records. Today i did some elipses and boxes and peter griffin by memory as a treat.
/lwad/#2 Previous: >>7849114 I've obtained a prescription for (generic) Adderall and wanted to experiment on how it affected learning to draw. I opened this thread to document my progress and for everyone else's observation / amusement. My goal with this thread is to simply take an Adderall and draw for at least a couple hours a day and post the results. Realistically I may miss some days. The hope is to keep these threads ongoing until I'm either satisfied with the progress documented, or I crash out. Probable Questions: >Why? Whether or not medicating has a significant effects on learning, if it only has a partial effect on some related disciplines that go into drawing, or it arguably had no major effect at all, I want this thread to feed into any discussion as a case example. I also chose /ic/ since I know this board doesn't pull back punches. >Are you actually diagnosed with ADD / ADHD? Yes, ADD. I believe inattentive. Been diagnosed since 2003 but never treated long-term. >How old are you? 31. >Do you work? Yes. Full time with a very emotionally draining job. >Are you on the spectrum? Undiagnosed but I'm pretty sure. High functioning if so. >Are you Asian? No, white. >What is your drawing experience? I would doodle as a kid but dropped it in my mid-teens. I took and dropped a starter drawing class in college that was mostly figure studies. Good teacher but I had shit motivation. >What are your current struggles? Motivation to draw something that challenges me tends to be few and far between. Taking the medication out of prescribed times also jacked up my sleep schedule. >Thoughts so far? The medication does help focus, but it has a volatility where I can hyper-focus on distractions instead. Discipline and taking care of yourself are the two most important things. >What study materials are you going to use? Currently doing a sample-platter type stuff and studies. A few books on backlog. >What are your goals? To help a friend out with shared projects.

That one detail or piece that automatically makes you like a drawing or painting. I will always appreciate tri color/limited color drawings, they just appeal to me so good.
>go to gesture site >weird, stiff, unnatural poses that are boring why? why is it so tough to find one where they just load up images of athletes, dancers, random people in a natural state, or something fun? i know pinterest exists but the image quality is low and you either have to scrape boards or save stuff individually

It's been almost 10 years since I went down this path. When I began, it was 2018, and I was still a young teen who watched Steven Universe on the TV, and other shows. I had basically watched cartoons my whole life. So I knew, I wanted to make my own show one day. I had hope back then, because this was before AI, before streaming was massive, before every network I grew up on died. I have spent my entire art journey pushing myself. I started knowing nothing, but I just drew, I even made animations without understanding anything about animation at all. And through it all I have watched everything I knew and love come to crumble. 10 years later, I am in college. I'm okay at drawing, but I don't know why I am doing this. Teachers tell me the industry will recover, but I'm not sure. Am I doing this to make a series? That's what I wanted to do when I started, but where would I go when the networks don't exist anymore? Do I make it independently? I tried that... twice now, but making something on that scale simply isn't possible without a team or money. At this point, I've come to the conclusion that it's not possible. I might as well just make a webcomic instead of having my ideas realized as animation. The truth it, it saddens me. I feel like there is no place for me in the animation industry because people who have experience are always gonna have 1-up on me. Even in the indie space, I feel Glitch prioritzes hiring experience, not training the next generation of artists. So... at the end of all this, I'm not giving up. But, I realize there simply is no opportunities. There's nothing I can do about that either. I guess I'll just be a hermit comic artist that knows animation until things get better.
Did I do an alright job drawing her crushed flat? I know the backgrounds need a bit of work but more critique on the subject herself

>be chud incel artist >have interest in cute cartoony girls and such >draw mostly cute cartoony girls for myself but want some audience >can only attract fags and troons, the most insufferable audience >not attract the audience i do want Is it inevitable that if you draw cute shit you just get insufferable audiences, or am I doing something wrong?
For example, this artwork right here, seems to only use at the most 3 value. Light, shadow and the cast shadow. (4 if you count the subtle reflected light on the thigh it's own value) And the contrast, at least to my eyes, is low contrast. so how is what seems to be a simple, limited value, and low contrast shading still made it look pop out ?

/biz/fag here. Made 120K this year from trading, so I bought a Wacom Cintiq Pro 22 for 3K. I have never drawn before but I want to get into it. The endgoal is to retire and become a Manga artist full-time as a hobby. Have I made a mistake? Is an expensive tablet a good way to learn how to draw?
I took a long break from drawing (around 1–2 months) and came back to it today. Ive noticed that my drawing ability hasn't regressed, since I mostly did observational drawing before. (Ill admit that I'm much better at copying drawn objects and things than drawing from life) So, I'd say my strongest skill is copying. On the topic of 3D space, what's an alternative to Drawabox? I took that course around January this year, but I didn't feel like the lessons were sticking with me, so I quit due to a lack of improvement. It's not that I got tired of it. One of my goals is to be able to draw like the OPs image
How are the renders in this game supposed to be professional if they look so flat? Besides, where are her nipples supposed to be? Anyway, I've always thought this style of shading was awful, but it's the only thing I can get when I blend colors, and yet I hate it. Is there any way to improve these kinds of shadows and colors?

Currently learning all the basics like shading, anatomy, figure, gestures etc. but using real humans as /ic/ told me to. I guess my endgoal is to draw hot anime babes like the coomer I am. However, I am kind of turned off by digital drawing. I just love when you have a finished project that actually exists on paper as well as working with real materials. Is drawing hot anime babes feasible using traditional drawing or is it something that only really works digitally?
u have a 3d motherboard u can upgrade, and the bigger it is the more slots u have, in these slots u can place several parts with stats gains and skills, and abilities, some comaptible other not, or some u need to connect trough something before the whole bit makes sense, all the parts are 3d and u can choose where to place them like tetris, i wanna add this to my game
The general thread for Manga / manga-styled comic-making, manga-style illustration and related comic work. That said, everyone is welcome here. Support each other and talk about your work or the work of others that excites you. Inking, character design, paneling / layout, writing, planning, and other discussions are all welcome. how can I abandon all desires to continue with this soul sucking hobby? I cannot draw anything to save my life. in fact my art skills are regressing despite how much I invest into learning and practice.
Normies will get success by using Ai to make jewish arts, but my custom WWE cards (which I made before Ai) doesn't get a slight attention in the market
How is that pile of shit in the crotch area supposed to be a pubic region? Why are there such shitty artists who are actually professionals and end up producing this kind of garbage?
How do you positively affirm yourself that you arent a failure without deluding yourself when you make mistakes while drawing?
Okay so I got the autism bucks, now I dont need to work, how many hours a day should I grind? 5, 8, 10 like the japanese? Help
im in need of money but i dont like to part from my pieces. it disgusts me to sell them to buy usables, while i see more timelessness in keeping them. i am well aware they are not speacial and good and mean more to me than others. but i do think i need the money so my question is, how do you sell your work? how can i price them? what happened to you, once you sold them? also, critique my work pls.
where the hell am I supossed to get commissions on that isn't the shithole disboard that makes you read thousands of retarded rules with hidden morse codes and bullshit just to get you verified oh but then you need to wait at least 80 years and find a hidden key up your butthole to promote your commissions
>"The young generation, what are they doing? Just drawing endless pages of boxes and circles, over and over again!" >"It's like they're trapped in a, uhh, amazing digital circus."
I want to get into drawing, i am considering using a ballpoint pen and a notebook, the reason being that i don't want to invest in specialized tools on a hobby i may drop, i am pretty bad at drawing, any idea how i can start?
>you need to learn how to draw boxes and 3 dimensional shapes Ok I'll do drawab- >NO under NO CIRCUMSTANCES do you EVER follow drawabox it will make you HATE drawing and teach you NOTHING Ok so what's the next best thing?
1/9 I have a lot of grey pens and markers, and my idea was to put samples of them all on a sheet of paper and compare them on values and hues – you could use it as a buying guide to get just a few and still have a nice range of values. Note 1 – I'm located in Central Europe, and I buy my art stuff when I see it in physical stores, so plenty of stuff is missing, especially from the US. Feel free to post samples of your own markers. Note 2 – This is not an in-depth technical review. Everything is just based on my observations. Please note that there are a lot of subtle variations in hue, even if you have a 'neutral' or 'warm' grey. Note 3 – When I write 'bought open stock', I mean that these items are part of a much larger range of colours, sold in large sets, but also sold individually. 'Bought loose' means that to my knowledge there is only 1 or 2 greys and limited other colours, if any, besides black. REVIEW INTRO There is not a huge visible variety on how these pens and markers work. It's all inks, dyes and pigments, some waterproof and some not. The biggest differences are in tips (fine point, felt tip, synthetic brush), and of course value and hue. What is worth noting is that many brands suffer from the same problem – a clear difference between the colour on the cap and the actual colour of the ink. This difference can be annoying if you want to pick the right colour for your art. The first few posts will be just the pens with descriptions. At the end I'll post colour samples with comparisons. - PHOTO 1 MOLOTOW, Aqua Color Brush. These came in a set of 12 greys. There is a nice variation in values and hues. However, the colour of the cap versus actual ink colour is not so good, especially for what seems to me a premium brand. These markers are actually refillable. The tip is a spongey brush. The cool greys are quite bluish compared to all the other brands. Not Waterproof.
Every tutorial i've watched on character drawing so far, every artist basically goes "let's draw this character being happy" *draws happy pose*, "now what if we make him sad" *draws sad pose* and i'm like "...HOW??" He just draws it without explaining why the pose works, why this makes the character look sad or happy. Of course you can give the character a sad expression or a happy one, but there is more to it right? When i draw i often just don't know how i could even make the pose and expression really FEEL how i want to. My mind is blank and i scribble endlessly and just end up frustrated because i can't make it look right. Are there any guides or tutorials or even just keywords i can look up that can help me guide into the right path? I feel like almost every artist seems to know this fundamental *thing* but i don't.. Do you just gather a shit ton of references and try to copy and internalize them? And eventually you can just draw all of those poses and mix and match elements of them on a whim?
How many artists are using AI now adays to just draw over? I feel like I see alot of artists on twitter that have really awful lineweight, and have a style looks AI adjacent. Usually press on their account to find its like 5 months old Picrel unrelated, I was gonna post some artists I thought were tracers, but thatd be mean

https://kalapaint.app/ by ollylawson https://moko.art/ by marcbrunet Which drawing software do you think will come out on top?
I wish i could draw. I hate myself because i can't draw and i don't know how i'm supposed to learn how to draw. It makes me very sad every day :(
I'm so happy I can draw. I love myself and my art and every day is a step in the right direction because I'm always pushing myself to draw more things. I am so happy every day :D
I'm mainly a digital illustrator, and I'm thinking about uploading an AI-generated 3D model to Sketchfab, clearly tagged "Created With AI" and labeled as such everywhere I share it on my socmeds. Would you be fine with that, or does it feel off coming from someone who usually makes work by hand? And would it change your view if I rebuilt or retopologized the model myself afterward ?
I just started an art account, and have been posting my backlog of comics i never posted outside of 4chan. On reddit theyve been doing well, averaging around 4-5k, but I was getting nothing on twitter. Figured I'd make a fan comic for Merrivius and I saw that the moment he retweeted it, it went from like 3 views, to 6.5k likes https://x.com/a2ndsense/status/2114666771676549468 Is the best strat just to do fanart for bigger artists, as well as for popular games/ characters? I got a couple of games artists I wanna do art and comics for, and I figure I'll try and post a few of them before returning to the archive comics I have.
Hard Round brush thread please I need this. Especially if you anything saved with cooler tones and colors.
Every time I get a commission my mother gets a serious disease. It's like the Universe doesn't allow my mother in a world where I'm a pro artist. Am I just misinterpreting this? She always wanted me to go down the traditional path. Add emotional neglect and enabling my father's outbursts, and now I should pretend to care? Maybe this is the wrong board for this... Any thoughts on this?
Last time on /b/: >>955729551 Hey /ic/, anons, boob enthusiasts, and etc etc. I wanna draw a muscular, bara-style humanoid monster with a clock for a head, inspired by a well-known pizza chain from my country (and yes, I'm Spanish.). The inspiration comes from those viral TikTok trends featuring the mascot of a food stand called: El Buen Gallo. I thought it'd be funny to make my own version, but with a clock for a head and a massive fucking dick. I might take some inspiration from a character I've seen in Limbus Company, but I'm not a fan of the game, so don't crucify me. My plan is to start with an NSFW character reference sheet. I can't promise a full illustration anytime soon because my free time is limited. What do you think? Any suggestions for his outfit, body type, poses, or overall design? And if you're familiar with the monsterfucker niche, how would you make a clock-headed character look sexy? Should I go ahead with the character sheet? Give me your worst (or horniest) ideas. I've also got a bust illustration. It's not a full-body piece, but it should give you an idea of what I'm going for. I know I should post these kinds of questions in other threads, but since this is an art forum, I decided to try my luck. Sorry for spamming my questions.
https://youtu.be/_NAYAxOpfgs?si=xkTcfHCnpqy9NWhg Wait a minute, how did this nigga learn to draw this good? Where did he find the time between playing basketball, writing a rap song, and robbing a convenience store? I've been drawing for nearly 2 decades and I'm nowhere near this good.
Why do Japanese creatives love AI slop so much? Picrel is from one of the biggest living mangaka. Using AI slop as youtube thumbnails, really? And no Japanese in the comments called him out.
Can character designs end up too cartoonish to the point that they unintentionally clash with the tone of the story if the latter takes itself seriously enough?
I have no idea how to use this hellhole of a site, this is literally my first time actually trying to use it I just want general opinions and critiques on my art (I wanna see if I'm good enough for commissions if I ever get the motivation to lol) Woof

I need some advice on painting. Dunno why, but by just practice, I've come to the conclusion that you need the following textures in a digital painting. Need to review if my intuition is correct and these are enough for a digital painting. >AO layer It's a soft gradient, painted with a soft brush >Hard shadow It's basically a pen brush, meant to draw the toon shadows >Specular It's a toon shadow, but for the highlights of things like haird, oiled surfaces and metal >Inner lines These are drawing inner lines >Toon shader half This is like a 3D toon shadow but makes the shadows to be darker and blueish
I bought a sketchbook and a few pencils, I have a cheap Wacom tablet on the way as well as the Keys to Drawing book. I really want to draw. However, I am insanely scared that if I start drawing I won't get better. And then after hundreds of hours of drawing and trying to learn (fundamentals) I will still be shit. When I look at beginners, they can already draw a bit. My level is literally zero, I have no talent, nothing. I want to draw but I am too scared.
Artists need to stop putting their work online. We need to go back to meat space, irl events and local networking. Anything online is going to be scraped and used for ai training while we don't get anything for our labour. What is the point of uploading art now? To grow an audience? LOL the majority of traffic is now ai bots anyway, 4scams, plebbit, ig, fagbook, gooktok, are all majority bots now, dead internet theory is now reality. The future of the internet is ai bots and losers, normal people with healthy brains are going to wake up to the reality of the internet and leave. Artists need to stop uploading and start leaving. Just look at the current pathetic state of reddit, they got rid of viewing users post history and old reddit to make it harder to spot the bot. Companies are trying hard to make people not notice that their platforms are full of clankers. If Artists stop uploading work and just try to generate local networks and show in galleries instead then ai will have nothing to train on anymore. Human art will continue to innovate and thrive while ai slop will devolve into gibberish. Either way, regardless of what you do with your work you should value it as human made original work will be rare as more people lose the skills and discipline to practice art, don't give away your labour for free, it has value. It's not 2001 anymore, the old internet is dead.
Why do so many tutorials and teachers suggest drawing people using boxes to beginner artists if this isn't something artists actually do?
is there any site like vgen that guarantees that artists aren’t using AI or at the least allows you to filter out AI bs, but also lets you pay anonymously? i hate paypal giving my fucking government name to the third worlder that im paying to draw weird porn
What makes drawing such a unique skill that giving advice as an artist to a beginner is impossible? I have learned many skills in life and I could easily explain to a complete beginner how to get started/improve/give tips on things that helped me, and ive seen a lot of other skills where people can do the same thing but with drawing this is an unheard of concept. If you ask any artist, they will all tell you "i cant really give advice, all i can say is practice practice practice practice". Whats up with this? What exactly makes this skill so unique compared to others that giving advice or tips simply cannot be done? I'm the kind of person that needs tips or methods other people use that might work for me, but NO ONE seems to be able to provide the kind of advice thats normal with any other skill. Why?
