    Are these prices realistic?
    >>
    I'm charging 50 lol
    >>
I knew someone would post this lol

Anyway yes, the artist is a cute girl that posts hot selfies all the time which means that she can charge these prices, that she wouldn't be able to charge as an anonymous rando
    >>

You couldn't even pay me to pay for this art

art is worth whatever someone is willing to pay

If people are willing to pay those prices, then yeah, they're reasonable.

why do we live in this capitalist shithole where mediocre stuff like this is valued?

Nobody on Twitter is going to hire her put for professional prices it's reasonable I guess, I could see some Vtuber hiring her for merch or something. I'm sure if instead of Peach it was Pippa or anyone doing even half her numbers she could move enough prints and playmats to turn a profit.

unless she charges double for the rights instead of an extra thousand or two, even for such cases $9000 is the sort of price where you get told to fuck off unless you spent the last decade working on a video game everybody likes
    >>
She 100% created this thread. Don't feed the troll.

His eyebrows are fucked up as well and the skin color of his hands doesn't match the color of his arms and he made his forehead black instead of green. This is not a straight up AI gen but there's definitely foul play involved. Nobody makes this kind of mistakes unless they turn their minds off because they're painting over.
    >>
    >>8071645
If you can get away with it, sure.
Is it fair and are these artworks worth that amount? No
    >>
    >>8071703
$9000 really isn't that much depending on the complexity. I've been paid that much for a piece. It's about 2 months of work at basic bitch wages. You have to remember that companies, even relatively small ones, have profits in the millions. A couple thousand dollars is the kind of money that gets lost in the couch cushions.

I never got the issue with people having high rates? Art it's luxury they can ask for however much they want, if some fat chud is willing to pay for it then it's justified. Overcharging doesn't hurt the general arts commission population, low third word rates on the other hand
    >yeah I know she's a whore, yeah I know it's probably a psyop, etc etc.

i hate the retardbaiting meta but it is almost suspicious how incredibly well it works every single time and only for already established content shitters despite everyone doing it non-stop that even the average normie would get tired of it and stop interacting

yes, i am implying it's all staged, fake and organized
    >>
    >>8072287
Agree with you, if you are drawing/want to draw commissions yourself you need to be grateful to artists charging much more than you are. They effectively give you breathing room and lots of price, you are not forced to lower your prices. I know a few retards with 100 000+ followers that ask $60-100 per line art and $100-300 per painting, now they are actual morons that hurt themselves AND other artists
    >>
    YOU GUYS GET PAID?
    >>
interesting to see retard artists be opportunistic vultures about this by dogpiling and undercutting
were the likes worth it i wonder
    >>
I think the disconnect is these are much closer to industry prices but it's a private commission. I'm curious if otherwise /pro/ artists like this are having to shill to the wage cattle for comms now that industry is dead and clearly moving towards AI. Most likely they will have to drop prices, it's just not sustainable to expect private parties to pay this unless they are fine only having a few clients a year.

Check the artists other work, especially their trad sketches. They are far too skilled to be using AI for this. The paint video where they completely change the light source mid way through also makes it unlikely ai was involved.
    >>
    >>8072533
they usually teach instead, you can easily make 16,000 for a 10 week class and even more if you sell the recordings
riot splash artist courses are like 1000+ a seat
mentorships can go for 3000 a student
    >>
    >>8072533
Check Balenciaga, LV and other luxury items. It's brands larping as some 60yo underground textile masters sewing a custom item just for you, while in reality they are literally hiring sweatshop slaves in China/SEA/Bangladesh, then ship this stuff to Italy/France/whatever and slap the "Made in X" tag. The real price of a LV bag is below $100, they are mass produced in tens of thousands in mothefucking factories and still the brands manage to scam retards into paying custom prices for a mass produced garbage. It's more than possible to charge prices like this for dogsshit, it's all only a question of fame and marketing, you have to make the customers feel unique
    >>
    >>8072542
your comment is irrelevant mostly but also just not really true. Yes LVMH is a monopoly that has a history of using immigrant labor in the otherwise first world countries but you can check the profit margins on the big fashion houses, they really aren't that astronomical. Their stock prices would be higher if their margins were higher than 15-20% across their product lineup.

There's also just a simple logical counter to this, if making high fashion had such insane markup you are free to make your own fashion house, I mean you would be making hand over fist.
    >>
    >>8072539
I agree and pretty much every professional artist has supplemented their income with teaching for the last 150 years. Though you might be overestimating profit from teaching/mentorship, you can find 20 year disney veterans doing mentorship for $100/session, for whatever reason concept artists think they are gods greatest gift and charge 300+/session but I really don't see how anyone pays that when other better artists offer less.

Also the classes tend to be through a school so expect like 50% cut minimum going to the school. There's a reason why every storyboard/character designer rather just get a gig on a show, its higher income and guaranteed for 6 months.

My only point is that it seems pretty rough out there right now.
    >>
    >>8072546
You are genuinely retarded, the "margin" includes all the captured value a company has to pay to its overpriced management and the insane PR machine working overtime to peddle their garbage to masses, the money are inveted in making you buy garbage, not in the actual production of it
    >if making high fashion had such insane markup you are free to make your own fashion house, I mean you would be making hand over fist.
So you fully ignore that every Western pop-star has been shilling someone's fashion line or opening up her/his own? We have Kanye West with his retarded fashion line (the fuck a rapper knows about shoes), a dozen of American female singers selling """their""" make up or lingerie, we have basketball players on payroll of sports companies 24/7. To open a fashion house and keep it going you need fame and insane capital to pay for prostitutes advertising you, hence why big players dominate the market. It's a gatekept industry, just like absolutely no one in the histoy of /ic/ could sell a million dollar worth painting no matter how skilled one was, it's ALL about capital, PR and connections
    >>
    >aifags discover prices and chimp out about it
    >actual industry professionals chip in and say that studios would indeed pay those prices for that stuff
    >aifags pivot and start insisting that its actually not worth the prices because he used ai, source: trust me bro
    >artists immediately start cannibalising eachother to own le heckin ai, quote tweets with their own art telling people they'd accept pack of cigs for a commission
    >dunning krueger begs start to chip posing as a source of authority, add fuel to the fire by knowing nothing. blind leading the blind etc
Holy shit what a shitshow, I wonder if getting into the industry through social media is an option anymore given the current userbase
    >>
    >>8072554
Yes I was including things like rent, paying creative directors and marketing which all go into their operating expenses. While you are just looking at the raw cost of the leather and then making some wild extrapolation. But if you actually think a fashion house can run with no rent or marketing costs I'm really not the retarded one here.

The rest of your comment is irrelevant. High end fashion houses are created yearly and without the monopoly of LVMH behind them they typically have pretty low margins (10%) it's not an easy business to get into.
    >>
    >>8072558
I don't think a fashion house can run without marketing, you are the imbecilic monkey here that fails to read what I wrote. I said that the real value of an item is below $100, the rest is just imaginary numbers spent on brainwashing morons like you into buying said overrpriced garbage. And that's why fashion house of a noname will flop too, I addressed just that if you bothered to use your peanut-sized brain for once
    >>
    >>8072560
What the fuck does "the real value" mean if it doesn't mean the cost of the labor required to produce and sell it?
    >>
    >>8072560
Yes if you ignore everything that is required to get the clothing delivered to you (design + labor, marketing, rent) and just look at the raw material cost it is much lower, is that really what you are arguing? That's true of anything you buy.

The devil is in the details, if you legitimately think you can cut any of these costs and deliver a high quality fashion product to people you should start a business. Plenty of fashion houses start without celebrity endorsement, hell even bespoke tailors are pretty common and yea good luck getting a custom suit under 3k.
    >>
    >>8072562
The price of production of an item. The price spent on maketing is not real value of an item, you can inflate the marketing ""value"" to insane size, same as you can shrink it to nothing.
    >>8072563
That's not true of everything, when you can go to a clothing store and buy actual made in China shoes or clothes for $40 a pop most of the price paid is paid for actual production instead of marketing. When you pay a visit to Shein, you see mostly actual production cost with barely anything invested in brand marketing. The only marketing there is Shein itself, which is still not a proper production brand but just a retailer
    >>
    >>8072567
price of production (to use Marx/Smith's actual term) does include things like rent, interest on loans etc, these are typically taken out of the Gross Profit. So you aren't even using the term correctly. Also it's weird how you keep dropping rent and large portions of labor from your accounting, they are significant.

If you think you can make a high end brand with drop shipping then get loans and save up for 1-200k in capital and start a business.
    >>
    >>8072567
Dog in christ, you're on an art board and you think marketing is irrelevant.
    >>
