pic was very very very bad. so bad that it mostly saved trek from kurtzman. so it a way it was almost good

>>224021753I haven’t seen the internet mourn a celebrity this hard since…Dolly Parton and Tim Curry a month ago.
I always liked how chunky the Constellation class saucer isTNG-era saucers that taper off to be just one deck high at the rim never made much sense to me
>Is suffering from Irumodic Syndrome wants one last mission with his old friendsTurns out the real Patrick Stewart has been dealing with Alzheimer's for some time gets one last season with his old friendsWild stuff
>>224022433Get used to it, we have a decade or two of celebrities dying off at an intense rate before we slam into the great wall of the Internet which killed off the concept of the celebrity for good

I saw someone on twitter say their friend met Stewart at some event and did the Vulcan hand sign at him and Stewart flipped him off. They tried to frame it as him being a dick but there weren't even any Vulcan main characters in TNG

I'm not a Star Trek lore expert, someone help me out.Why would a Com badge make you and the other person that has it unblockable? Do these somehow allow you to go invisible or immaterial?
>>224022934janeway as ripley was a kino 'sode. voyagers premise as we all know was wasted, but the singled out episodes can be extremely fun. and the main cast is interesting to me, as its not just a retread of what was before, ita slightly different.
>VOYAGER'S PREMISE
I've been watching the TNG before bed for months and last night I just couldn't do it.
>>224018588I'm not really into 1/6. There's a Ro Laren 1/6 scale figure but she looks like a gorilla like all Ro Laren figures, plus with Exo-6 you can't really pose them or the clothes will start to stretch and wrinkle. After putting up with Diamond's Ro Laren shaped brick of a figure I have no interest in paying north of $300 for another statue. Nacelle says they're going to make figures of everyone ever, even Gene and Lucille Ball, but at six characters a year it's going to take a while. The big problem with Star Trek as a toy line is all the main characters look the same, they're all wearing the same clothes, and all the villains look dumb as shit or dated as hell and realistically can't sell on their own. A $20 blokees or gundam type Starfleet officer kit with a basic body and you can use different heads and hands would be really cool. Three or four Starfleet officer type bodies for each era, TOS, TNG, DSN/VOY, and kits for Klingons, Romulans, Borg, and Ferengi for bad guys. Then sell hero packs where you can get the bridge crew heads and hands all together and use them on the Starfleet body kits. You could do Andorian packs, Bajoran, Vulcan, etc. Instead of fucking around with making Picards and Kirks to people who already have those characters, sell a line where people can make their own crews and away teams.
>>224024132Communication of tactical data to avoid confronting the enemy's defenses. It's still dumb since you know, every Starfleet officer has a com badge issued.
>>224024408Legitimately good idea. Make a male and female version of each Starfleet uniform and then just sell hands, heads and accessories to put on them.
>>224024132they lock on to comm badges for the transporter. sometimes someone will attach their badge to something they want transported.
What happened to star trek?
>>224024651One of the main reasons Star Wars can thrive is the army builder factor where the Stormtroopers are always sold out because fuckers buy 100 at a time to line up in rows, it's what keeps lines like GI Joe alive. Each bridge crew is seven figures, but then after that it falls off pretty hard.If every wave had a theme like the Romulan War and the army builder figure was some Romulan kits with era appropriate Starfleet officer bucks, a couple Romulan warriors, a Romulan captain, Shinzon, a Reman, etc. Then a Klingon wave, a Borg wave with a queen, maybe get weird and do stuff like the TOS episode with Lord Garth and his manic pixie Orion bitch so you can get some sexy aliens in there.Star Trek as a franchise died yesterday. There's only so many times they can go back to the well and release another Kirk and Picard and hope it gains enough interest to fuel the line forever. It won't, 30 years later there won't ever be the kind of sales like Playmates had when the actual shows were on the air.Instead a stronger play is to reframe the perspective on the franchise from trying to land another solid iconic timeless crew everyone and their mother will love and open it up to the fans. That's what Star Wars did with the books and video games and lego kits. As a franchise it's completely fucking disgusting and repulsive, so instead of trying to win people over, letting people do what they want with the universe is a stronger play for survival and maybe even success.
>>224024883Do kids even play with toys? It's all ipads and tablets.
>>224025051That's the twist. You don't sell them as toys, you sell them as poseable model kits. You appeal to both toy collectors and model kit fans and trigger that same dopamine rush lego people and minis gamers are always chasing. Make it yours, make it unique, make it better than everyone else.It isn't just a fancy toy an adult is justifying to themselves while normies ask if kids like toys, you make it a hobby that empowers and validates the consumer. And the whole time they're cumming and pissing and shitting while putting the kit together they're thinking about where that next $20 fix is going to come from. And you can keep those prices low because you're only paying for production and packaging, no paint apps or assembly costs, literally just pop the sprues out of the molds and toss them in a box that costs more than the plastic. It's what I'd do if I were an eccentric millionaire funding a Trek line. We're still blessed to have Nacelle knocking out Ro Laren and Selar figures. The kit thing could just be like a side hustle between yearly main wave releases.
>>224025434I never thought of him as shifty looking.
>landthis is a troll, right
>>224025515what the hell is this stuff?
>>224025598Star Trek is in Magic the Gathering now

Oh, I see I derailed the thread a bit by bringing up that com badge card.Well, let me just post one more, then. I love the design of this card. Some really silly shit could happen off of it. Every keeps saying "Picard was the best captain" but I don't think that stacks up and it's knee-jerk to Stewart dying. Give it a few weeks and the consensus will switch back to the best being Michael Burnham.

first day without Picard being alive feels weird
forced myself through PIC S3E1. The writing is full of pseudodrama all around. No star fleet officer or captain would talk like they did. The junkie lady was the worst in that regard. I'll continue tomorrow but i guess it'll be more modernist writing thats just hot air. no tension or stakes, i feel nothing while watching the screen. And its a shame to see the actors and VFX wasted like this. expectedly its not as dogshit as the previous seasons, but still far from good nor Star Trek. I wonder of we'll ever see Trek again. Thanks for reading my blog
>>224027779Worf, when the Barrel fell.
>>224027237Lursa, no. B'Etor? Daily, nightly, and ever so rightly.
>>224027746nah, many people genuinely think that and always have. there was a time I had only seen TNG and I would have died on that hill simply because I couldn't imagine how anyone could be better but once you get to know the other captains you really understand how lacking Picard really is.
>>224022307WoK is a great movie and so is The Seven Percent Solution and Time After Time. Nicholas Meyer is kino in human form. This is not up for debate.
>>224027746Did she ever actually make captain? I tapped out halfway through S2.
No one will remember nuTrek. No one will ever talk about nuTrek once it's gone. nuTrek will have left no cultural impact.
>>224027948>"Guinan's hawking souvenirs now?">"Ugh, it's for Frontier Day.">"How come you have so many Enterprise-Ds?">"Oh, the fat ones? No one wants those.">"You better leave the bottle. You hear that, Jean-Luc? "No one wants the fat ones." That's "Galaxy-class" to you, young lady." Do they think this sounds so clever? Do the writers huff their own farts when they put this in?
Of all the cast members who’ve died, the deaths of Spock/Nimoy and Picard/Steward genuinely bring me down.I don’t know why exactly. Those two characters left the biggest impression on me perhaps.
>>224023435Reg already ate it.
>>224028213it's so sloppy and inelegant. complete lack of grace
>>224028217Because they are aspirational characters
>>224028217Its good that Stewart was in so many shows. It would take a long time to re-watch them all. So it will be like he’s not gone. For Nimoy I really just like the TOS movies. There is still time for Shatner to make one more appearance as Kirk. It probably won’t happen though.
Brian Blessed never guest starring on TNG as a Klingon is one of the great crimes of our age
>>224028528another legend.

Was Patrick Stewart more right to stay affiliated with Trek and fall into Nu Trek sloppa or was Avery Brooks right to stay far away and protect your legacy?
>>224021753Sticky?
>>224029329SFA must have BEGGED him to cameo in the DS9 episode. He refused so they settled for Cirroc Lofton. And he made the right decision too.
>>224029170>magapedeYou are so brain broken.
>>224029329Avery Brooks wasn't protecting his legacy he was just too demanding for nutrek producers. Look, what Patrick Stewart did was have one last go round with his beloved castmates. That's all he and the rest of the TNG cast care about. In their old age they got the band back together, cried, laughed and got paid. They did it for themselves and frankly they deserved it. I will never begrudge them for that, just direct your hatred towards Kurtzman's incompetent regime.
New mandela effect: his name is actually Patrick HEWES Stewart
>>224029329Avery was right, but I just don't think he cared to return.Stewart had no problem wrecking the legacy of Picard and TNG.
>>224029404>too demanding for nutrek producersi.e. he had even a single shred of dignity.
>>224029052>>224029170Imagine if Patrick Stewart could re-do "Tapestry" in the Picard show>Picard now an old ensign>Troi is captain of the Enterprise>"Oy, it's so wonderful that a female retard like Troi is in charge. It's about damn time I say. We need more Ferengi and Cardassians on the Enterprise too"
>>224029452i.e. no you fucking retard
Patrick Stewart was a feminist and a socialist because he grew up seeing his dad beat his mother and when the cops would come they would blame his mom and he's a socialist because it was due to public programs that he had the opportunities to become an actor
>>224029543>a socialist because he grew up seeing his dad beat his mother and when the cops would come they would blame his momSo now socialists want more police action against criminals like Stewart's dad?
>>224029543Pretty reasonable.
>>224029170I’m tired of people pretending Star Trek was always political. Old Trek was about a strong captain commanding a government-owned spaceship in a moneyless society with universal healthcare. NORMAL AMERICAN VALUES.Now suddenly every episode has to be about “understanding other cultures.” Why? Run the numbers. How much dilithium are these planets contributing? We’re providing security for the entire quadrant and the Vulcans won’t even say Merry Christmas.Picard would absolutely support Trump if the writers let him think for himself. Every scene suggesting otherwise is Hollywood putting words in his mouth. The scenes that agree with me are his actual personality. And don’t bring up the Ferengi. That’s different. Their problems come from BAD capitalism. Our capitalism would work perfectly if we arrested everyone undermining it.Anyway, I miss when Trek imagined a better future instead of constantly suggesting we should change something.
>>224029523it must be a hard pill to swallow that the people who portrayed your childhood heros are nothing more than soulless cretins who will literally do or say anything for a paycheck no matter how retarded and terrible it is. I'm truly sorry you have to live in a world where Star Trek Picard was made and forced you to become aware of that reality and fact of life, but calling me a retard isn't going to change that.
>>224029565he later learned that his father was most likely suffering from shell shock/PTSD from being in the war and Stewart instead of disowning his father actually went on to support and advocate for charities for both battered women AND veterans. he was a better person than you'll ever be.
>>224029565He’s a feminist because he saw what his mom went through to raise him. And female domestic violence victims used to not be taken seriously the way male DV victims aren’t now.
It's sad that Patrick Stewart is dead and the resident trolling /pol/tard just uses it as ammo to continue shitposting. I would honestly fucking kill this slime in a Star Trek episode. You could screenshot it.
>>224028528Blessed should have played Chancellor K'mpec. The dude who played him was already a Klingon in Star Trek V anyway.
idk why but fat Klingons are extra based. K'mpec and the restaurant guy on DS9 are awesome.
Why is Data even serving on a starship in the first place? He is some super rare one-of-a-kind sentient android that Starfleet stumbled upon & activated. How was his legal status not questioned during starfleet admittance or graduation/rank assignment. I would think he would already be legal property of Starfleet before ‘measure of a man’
>>224029787>Why is Data even serving on a starship in the first place?Because he graduated from Starfleet Academy like anyone else>How was his legal status not questioned during starfleet admittance or graduation/rank assignment.Because Starfleet doesn't regard any of their students as literal property or equipmentThe only reason this became an issue was because there was suddenly some guy who asserted he had the right to kill Data and study his brain.
>>224029884Also didn’t have bad blood with Dr. Soong and wanted to kill his son for revenge?
The guy that played this character just died like a few days ago.

>>224032561i think its more of just picard's own personal optimism mixed with a smidgen of arrogance that he's displayed before. everyone else across the franchise in starfleet is consistently portrayed as "wanting more" and never quite being content with any utopia handed to them, whether it was general prestige, a better post and the pride that comes with, and just hungrily clawing their way to accessing nicer things in general

something I really hate is how a mentally primitive violent mongoloid race of aliens has advanced technology that they supposedly developed on their own. it literally makes no sense. yes I'm talking about the Hirogen
>>224034697Who invented the pointy stick, but the Hunters?
>>224034725hunting is for survival these retards are just larping and doing it for the "thrill" or whatever. at least the Hunters from DS9 actually treated it as a game and didn't base their entite identity as a species around it

>>224033186From the way the episode was playing out, I thought the title was gonna refer to the potential Universal Panacea that Tracey was madly pursuing at the expense of hundreds of thousands of Yang lives, and that the "ending" revealing that the Kohms are merely long-lived on a genetic level and the environment is virus-free due to the previous civilization killing itself via biological warfare was a really genius way to go about resolving things. The tragedy of lacking knowledge or foresight, the unexpected presence of a disease from a society composed entirely of carriers living in a planet-sized immunization tank. Once the Yangs captured Kirk & Tracey duking it out in that village, I thought the finale was gonna be some high-level diplomacy to find the guy he shared a cell with and have him vouch for him to the Yang leader. Then Kirk had this completely out of nowhere flash of realization about their names immediately before they trot out OLD GLORY. Oh my GOD these parallel Earths never make any fucking sense. And we spend the entire second half of the episode on the Pledge of Allegiance, Spock's portrait in the bible, a neat fight scene that would've been better in "Friday's Child", and the Constitution propped up as the greatest planetary charter in the entire galaxy. I didn't hate any of it, far from it, but it's so completely out of phase with the entire lead-up that it feels like Gene Roddenberry had no clue how to finish the story or stretch it out to fit a full hour, so he just decided to say "We want peace with the commies, but they gotta fly our flag". Like, it doesn't matter that Kirk says "this document applies to everyone or it doesn't work" at the end, because Gene spent the entire episode vilifying the Kohms as irredeemable.Anyway, Bones mentions that the virus the Exeter crew died to is very similar to one developed on Earth in the 1990s during the time of Germ Warfare, and I wonder if this had any overlap with the Eugenics Wars.
>>224034855If you're a Great enough man, you only need one name. Like Alexander. Or Napoleon.
>>224034953>spent the entire episode vilifying the Kohms as irredeemable.Oh also, funny how Chekov wasn't in this one. How differently would that finale had gone if he'd been in the room with Kirk reading the American Declaration of Independence?

>>224036412Thanks. Eventually I want to keep making more. Right now the holodeck is the only Trek stuff I have out, and a shelf for the Kotobukiya officers, plus Elvira riding an Excelsior class ship.
>>224036161hey man that's the peakest peak trek you're watching
I would Olivia d'abo in that episode
Why did they have to kill Ro...
>>224037556It subverted your expectations.
her silence speaks volumes
>>224037556why did they have picard and ro wait 30 years to reconcilewhy did they have picard swear at her in bajoran, that's fucking stupid
Wait no. Not Olivia, I'm talking about this chick. Damn, senior moment.
>Picard has it all over Kirk. He's poised and measured and doesn't wear a cheap rug. Rather, he accepts even baldness with a quiet cool that says, "I am in command. You are safe with me. I will cradle you in my arms "through any crisis in any galaxy. "
>>224038143>Gene be like "USA is so fuckin awesome, aliens on another planet invented their own, entirely on their own! Because every based civilisation is destined to became the awesomeness that is America! USA, USA, USA!"Ah yes, what a genius episode, truly it was robbed by not getting Emmy for script and story.
alright guys, only 2 episodes of Lower Decks left and then it is onto Picard.
>>224038220>cartoonKys
>>224038260you ungerstand that TAS is a cartoon right?
>>224038194WE THE PEOPLENah, fuckin love that episode. Sure, it's weird that there's a bunch of Earth's or Earth-like's out there, and seemingly no near perfect duplicates of other alien planets, from a logical perspective. But logic is for Vulkans, so who fuckin cares?USA USA USA!
>>224022433Dont forget Peter Cullin.
>>224038260Lower Decks has been good. They actually didn't rely on Cameos. They developed their own characters.
>>224038220>>224038283I like to leave it on while I dilate.
>>224038191>Picard>"cradle you in my arms"yeah nah you obviously didn't even watch TNG
The person I want to cuddle and watch Trek with while it is cozy winter and snowing outside;Tall Red Haired Woman with pale skin, fweckles, prominent front teeth, and prominent clavicle. She is home in the shape of a person. I love her.
>>224038283It had potential but the tone doesn't fit. All of the>You guys mean so much to me! stuff gets tiring. I think both SNW and LD could have been much better with different tones.
I'm not even including Star Trek Discovery in my watch of NuTrek.Only Lower Decks, Picard, and Strange New Worlds.
Did anyone on TNG ever tell Picaed "You're wrong fuck you I will not comply" in response to being given an order?
>>224021753Goodbye, my king
>>224038271>another cartoon Kys less rudely
>>224021753I just heard about Patrick StewartFuck man
Also, woke. Woke trek is not trek. It's pedotrek.
>>224038665>Woke trek is not trek.So no trek is trek. Got it.
>be bajor>literally have time travel>dont undo the occupation
how do the holodeck safeties allow obrien to dislocate his shoulder?cant say he kayaks with the safeties off. he is clearly not qualified for the rapids he chooses. he wouldnt be that irresponsible
>>224038883>Starfleet Time Agents detects it>Stops them from stopping the occupation, so they can keep Bajor in check
Lower Decks is finished. Now onto Picard. Then Strange New Worlds.

>Seven gets raped by some random scumbag alien>Even though they can literally read her memories everyone gaslights her that it didn't happen grim episode
>>224038945Safeties can't exactly stop you from randomly tripping and faceplanting into the ground either, it can understand and react to only so much of what you might do
this is our first Halloween without Patrick Stewart :(
>>>/wsg/6262145
>>224039173actually I don't really understand the end of this episode because Kovin was literally flipping out and so hysterical he blew himself up even when he was being told they thought he was innocent and just wanted to wrap up the investigation. he thought it was some kind of trap and apparently would rather die than stop running? he acted like you would expect if he actually was guilty of the crime. who the fuck would hear "we're dropping the charges" and go "i don't beliveve you" and then commit suicide if they were innocent? so I don't understand why everyone is feeling so much guilt and the Doctor is having an existential crisis just because there was plausible doubt in this situation. they actually DID NOT determine he didn't do it, all they found is evidence that supports his story of the phaser blast but didn't disprove Seven's claims either. I don't get how tears are being shed over this piece of shit
>>224039383>Kovinthought you said Keevan
>>224039383he explained earlier that his life would be ruined by the allegation.
>>224036133>complete opposite So you're implying he's a retarded...agrarian?
>>224038972based time police
>>224039426It's obvious to me in retrospect that the Vorta ears looking a bit like a cobra's hood sets the unconscious seeds of viewing them as treacherous snakes, scheming eunuchs

>>224039315What did Patrick Stewart have to do with Halloween?
>>224040097Never attribute to a character's incompetence that which can be adequately explained by the steady increase in writers' stupidity
You're welcomehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IjvYiSDJujA
>>224040097Not Archer, but Phlox by pulling shit out of his ass, that I guess never went on record, since it was not mentioned ever again.
does anyone else listen to "faith of the heart" before doing something big/crazy?
if quarks holodeck programs can fit into a fountain pen why do they need the memory sticks at all? theres not a shoebox worth of space upstairs to keep them all plugged in?
>>224040571Like watching Enterprise? Yeah, because skipping intros and credits is the coward's way out
>>224021753He was the man as Picard and Xavier, but lets be honest. He got a bit faggy in his later years
alright. I'm watching Picard now. Got a cup of coffee with Almond Milk and also a Tofu Scramble whole wheat wrap with sauteed Kale.Lower Decks was great.
>>224034953I wonder if you noticed that Captain Tracy was played by the same actor who played Simon Van Gelder.
yes we know you're trans you don't have to keep reminding us
Wow. Picard put Milk in his Tea and I have Almond Milk in my Coffee right now. This is wild.

>>224036161more and more im convinced that, especially after reading through the sticky thread, most "pic s3 was acually good!" folks are the most casual of casuals who maybe watched 3-4 episodes and first contact and let rlm tell them what the show is like
>>224040832tng is the causals' trek
>>224040845I agree somewhat but it takes engrossing yourself in all 178 episodes to truly appreciate it and realize exactly where the movies and Picard show fucked upNormies won't do that they just watch Best of Both Worlds and MAYBE Darmok (and being filtered by Darmok)
alright. I'm watching Picard S1 E1 and there are already esoteric references which seem like they're speaking to me.
>>224040941I clap when they reference things from the wiki
<3
>>224040900Speaking of>>>/a/291973554
Watching Picard is cozy. Seeing Patrick Stewart. It doesn't have to be perfect, I'm glad to see him on the screen.I like the aesthetic of Elves and Villas that I'm seeing right now. It is Esoteric.
>>224040941Hello, I am the voices, I command you to stop watching Picard, and instead only watch good Star Trek like TNG, DS9, and lets plays over the adventure games. If you do not obey me you will fall into a hole.
Daily reminder the TOS is the only good star trek
>>224041147I am the Highest Authority. The Black Sun.There are no Gods above me. I'm at the point in my watch order where it is time for Picard. I watched TOS, TOS Movies, TNG, DS9, VOY, The TNG Movies, and Lower Decks. After Picard I will watch Strange New Worlds. Then I will watch ENT (3rd rewatch of ENT.)
why didn't Shatner ever direct any Trek episodes, like Frakes has?
>>224041068https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E-KP3GcTt44Weird or what? <3https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t4A-Ml8YHyM
>>224041162Honestly, I'm flirting with this ranking order;TNG > VOY >= DS9 > TOS
>>224041232You are now Enlightened.
>>224041217He wasn’t cast in any of them, why would he care? This is a guy who made an entire documentary just so he could talk about himself.
>>224041232For me its TOS Uber Alles
>>224041265>makes a documentary so he can talk about himselfYou mean like 78% of programs since the 1930s? XD silly anon, women love boys
>>224041129yep this is the take away normies get, they can't understand it, they're filtered
>>224040752I did notice he looked familiar, but I didn't realize it was Morgan Woodward until I read the Memory-Alpha article afterwards. I do think he gives another great performance, but I also think that they could've done more with him if they hadn't spent so much time with the Yangs, and also that the lines they give him during the impromptu tribunal aren't as good as the ones from earlier on. He genuinely believes in the validity of his cause because he has yet to learn that it was all for absolutely nothing, which is a great way to make Starfleet villainous. Then when the jig is up, he becomes completely self-serving and spins the most desperate fabrications that only work because the Yangs are so primitive, and while he's great in that manic way it's just not as deep. It probably also has something to do with the direction, but on this show the lighting follows the mood of the script, not vice versa.
>>224041265he's directed three documentaries about Star Trek but never returned to the franchise to direct any shows. he's clearly still interested in Trek. he's interviewed the other Captain actors and seemed genuinely curious about them and their series.
Honestly, I'm flirting with this ranking order;SNW >= LD = PRO >> PIC >>> DSC
Honestly, I'm flirting with this ranking order;ANH = ESB >= ROTS > ROTJ
Actors have to graduate from Paramount's in house director school and then they assign you random episodes to direct. They don't just let you do it because you're a cool guy and you asked
>>224041363Yeah but the nazis were good also the SS were cool
TOS for the plotsTNG for the characters DS9 for the storyVOY for the setting
>>224041223https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bJ7YaDxidbkhe belonged in the stars. <3
>>224041414What about the movies? Personally Wrath of Khan was funny
>>224041532The Voyage Home was funny. Wrath of Khan was not funny
