Most of those were released by McFarlane Toys in some form or fashion but it'd be a pain in the ass to go hunting for all of them now. Some people might recommend just waiting for Mattel but uh, Mattel looks like Happy Meal toys so it's between hunting for figures that might be marked up to triple their retail value vs settling for dollar store versions you don't know will ever get made.

There's a new Arkham Batman on shelves now and a Power Girl coming out in a couple weeks. Out of your list I'd recommend picking up the original release of the Fleischer Supes by McFarlane with the wired cape. There's a discount version at Ross right now but I think it's wireless.

    >>
For anyone buying those $50 chase McFarlanes at bbts, I just have to wonder what went wrong in their life that led them to that point.
    >>
    >>11925055
Now we know why he was back handedly dissing mcfarlane figures during his latest reveal vids. He has Mattel waiting in the wings to send him free figgies.
    >>
    >>11925118
To be fair, it's absolutely warranted to shit on McFarts. I don't blame him. The only ones who still defend them have sunk cost fallacy.
    >>
    >>11925118
The whole Mattel release is so forced. When their baby toys dropped this place was flooded by one or two people spamming these things, then it immediately stopped completely. Pretty sure dhunter lurks here, probably a couple other reviewers because there aren't a ton of places to discuss toys that aren't heavily restricted. None of their discussion is about how cool they think the figure is or how much they enjoy it, it's almost like they only post about that crap because they get free children's toys and ad revenue.
    >>
    >>11925122
    Keep coping Todd
    >>
    >>11925122
    >then it immediately stopped completely
Because there hasn’t been another wave yet. You’re such a whiny faggot dude.
    >>
    >>11925120
True it's warranted but influencers getting inside info and free samples kept it more restrained while it seemed mcfarlane was holding the license indefinitely.
    >>
    >>11925124
To keep using dhunter as an example, the average Todd figure gets between 2-6 thousand views. His Mattel stuff is barely breaking 1 thousand views.
It's the same ratio across the line for all reviewers. Customers just don't care about Mattel reviews.
    >>
    >>11925132
This would be fascinating if it was legacy reviews. But legacy isn't out yet, so it's core no one cares about besides a few who prefer toy toys and not collector toys
    >>
    >>11925132
Who fucking cares? Why are you retards just incapable of buying and enjoying the toys you want and ignoring the shit you don't? I hate McFarts, skipped the whole line pretty much, but you don't see me coming in here and crashing out about them being discussed.

We'll see how the numbers play out. Right now Mattel is trying really hard to hype the community and they're getting less traction than reviews for Black Condor lmao

    >>11925135
I'm continuing a conversation and replying to a point someone else was making about how inorganic reviews are because they're getting free toys. This isn't about who's better, it's about the fact a dwindling market shows less interest in Mattel's entire waves of toys than they do about Black Condor regardless of how many free toys they send to influencers
    >>
    >>11925055
Mattel needs to work a bit on the torso movement to get a bit more range out of their figures, Chronicles has the same issue. Another is their chest sculpts, they're restricting the movement of the arms. I'm really tired of the notched elbows and knees, but they don't generally seem like they're too much of a pain.
    >>
    >>11924955
    >Those are all pretty cool

    nICE pun
    >>
    >>11925137
If you need some dribbling retard on the internet to tell you whether or not a figure is good, you are probably too low IQ for toy collecting. Tbqh, I don't really watch reviews, if I need to see the transformation sequence, or check the accessories or something, maybe I'll check one out, but by and by, I don't need a clown on YouTube to tell me if they think a figure is good or not. I do see merit in watching a review for objective facts like quality control, articulation range, and other such things, but beyond that, you don't need some sperg gushing or hating a figure to determine if you want it or not, so who cares if they get it for free?
    >>
    >>11925149
    >Mattel needs to work a bit on the torso movement to get a bit more range out of their figures, Chronicles has the same issue
To be honest, I am starting to think this is just a consequence of switching to ball joints in the torso and waists. They just don't get that great of range compared to a crunch. And before someone tries to shill Jada or Storm or some other company, see >>11923271. It's just the slightly more limited range a ball joint gives you, but you can bend in any direction. So it has it's positives and negatives.
    >>
    >>11925158
Ryu is blocked by sculpt. Chun Li is much better for an early sf jada figure

Anthony blown out. Confirmed ugly ML archaic ab crunches are superior to even well designed double ballpegs. Toybiz was rihht, justice for Toybiz.

    >>
    >>11925158
i'm okay with either way, personally. they both work for what they do
    >>
    >>11925158
So yes a standard ab crunch will usually get a deeper bend just because of the way it's cut, but a ball torso and waist in tandem can definitely do just as good. It depends on how the socket is shaped, as well as the size of the ball. Look at an AY or SexyIce for pretty much the best a double ball peg can do, and it's not because the articulation style is any different, it's entirely because of how it's cut and the size of the ball. Same applies to the necks for a barbell there.
    >>
    >>11925275
Yeah, you're correct. I'm just highlighting that the limited torso crunch you see in most domestic brands is because of the limited ball joints in the torso. AY Spidey 2.0 can almost hit a 90 degree angle with how they designed his torso. But at the same time, AYs cost like $85 minimum nowadays.
    >>
I've never needed more ab crunch, and I never will.

To be fair, the kinda person who buys Inart (or Mafex or Figuarts even) isn't their target audience. It's the kind of person who buys McFarlane and Marvel Legands.
    >>
    >>11925647
It's really weird how you guys can't fathom the fact that most people who buy imports also supplement their collections with domestic figures. I collect Mafex stuff but I plan on getting Mattel stuff to go along with it. I do the same for Marvel figs and Marvel Legends. I'm not loyal to any one brand and you'd have to be massively autistic to be.
    >>
    >>11925658
NTA but domestics can't really mesh with the house style of an Amazing Yamaguchi. Maybe Mafex as its generic enough in many cases.
    >>
    >>11925149
They need to work on their shitty sculpts. Even MOTU Origins was patchy, and Masterverse, Chronicles, and what we've seen of their DC stuff is just ass.
    >>
    >>11925496
This is the final retail version that will be shipping. We’re getting what we saw leaked at nycc ready to ship on January 1st. This all comes from toyshiz comments on the video.
    >>
Oh and expect hush Batman to be shipping soon
    >>
    >>11925720
    from who?
    >>
    >>11925749
He means the Mattel Creations set, but I'd wonder why you think that. I'd have to think they'll likewise have to wait until at least Jan 1 to send them out.
    >>
    >>11925750
The deluxe price point is what’s making it able to ship out while Todd still holds the license. That’s also the reason it was the only thing they were legally allowed to show at nycc.
    >>
    >>11925769
Adding to this it’s the reason it’s $100. It would’ve been priced at $80 otherwise but Mattel wanted to show people what they had coming and wanted to be able to get in people’s hands. Everything that’s dropping on January 1st is what was originally going to start coming out in July beside the kids line before Todd got an extension.
    >>
    >>11925769
    >The deluxe price point
Is that really how this works? That was the logic behind McFarlane's The Joker figures too, though I'm pretty sure those were a lot more than 100usd. And surely there have to be some caveats, what then would stop Mattel from putting out multiple figure bundles at 100+ or something, like if they sold all of wave 1 w/ Bane as a pricey bundle.
    >>
The reason everyone that was at the nycc “press” event is saying get ready is because Mattel already has half a years worth of product ready because of the extension granted to Todd. That doesn’t mean all of the 60+ items are all finished sitting in shipping containers here. What this means for us as consumers is we will not have any preorder delays ever with this line because of the runway the production was given.
    >>
    >>11925771
Mattel knows they’ll make more money with desirable BAFs and it keeps the line healthy. Believe it or not they actually want the line to succeed and have a team that’s made an amazing roadmap for the line. There will never be a figure that is locked in a Mattel creations exclusive. Things like dioramas and props are different tho.
    >>

    bullshit lies
    >>
    >>11925775
    Okay.
    >>
    >>11925775
I’ll correct myself there should be no preorder delays from production ever. Obviously nobody can guarantee no delay from overseas shipping but like I said they are so far ahead we should never notice as customers. Retailers are already being sent stock right now.
    >>
    >>11925780
    >Retailers are already being sent stock right now.
99% probability things get leaked if that's the case.

    >>11925774
They'd still obviously sell wave 1 at retail, but if it was really just item cost they could sell a "preview wave" at a premium right now if they wanted to.

I also don't believe that there won't be characters and looks locked behind creations or exclusives.
    >>
I'm honestly excited, Mattel's stuff has had really good distribution in my country and the prices have been good, so if they keep it up for the Legacy line I am probably getting the whole Absolute Wave
    >>

I’m repeating what I heard from a retailer that spoke with a Mattel rep. The hush Batman diorama is a good example of what would be on there. >>
    >>11925896
Mattel's line nor ML are true 1/12, so if the figure's are relatively accurate to each other, that's what's important. I'm saying a 6'2 person next to a 5'10 person, a 4" difference, would look about like those 2, not that one Peter is 5.83" and Bruce is 6.17".
    >>
    >>11925909
You shouldn't take doubt in an anonymous board as people harping on your or anything, it's hard to believe randoms, especially when there have been people claiming to be insiders on the DC thread and just spreading nonsense.

Also I'm not sure I follow what you're saying, you're suggesting that figures won't be MC exclusives, but instead dioramas or props? That's pretty hard to believe, desu. For Hush Batman, if the logic is that there will be an Ultimate of him down the line, I buy that, but I can't imagine every random niche character could end up at retail if they're sold online. And like you said A-M would not likely be something that could be sold outside of the online space. Maybe some online retailers would carry it, if that somehow counts as a caveat.

Keep coping and seething while I drop some actual knowledge on this thread. You "insiders" talking to a generic "Canadian retailer" are completely out of your depth. I actually have the direct line to what Mattel is executing with this DC license, and the swagger I’m bringing to the table is backed by concrete reality, not hypothetical guesswork. Let's address the flagship elephant in the room: the DC Premium Batman: Hush Rooftop Bat-Signal Diorama Set that just dropped on Mattel Creations for $100. If you think the entire master universe line is going to be locked behind an online paywall, you’re dead wrong. Mattel is playing the long game. The high-end, gimmick-heavy pieces like the electronic Bat-Signal with built-in ultrasonic foggers are built for the direct-to-consumer crowd. But standard, deeply desired comic figures? They are absolutely hitting brick-and-mortar retail shelves. More importantly, let's talk about scale, because some of you are completely lost trying to normalize bad math. Saying "relative accuracy is all that matters" is pure loser talk popularized by years of oversized, wonky lines. The industry standard dictates a true, dedicated 6-to-6.5-inch 1:12 scale baseline.Mattel is intentionally aligning their new DC Core and premium collector lines right out of the gate with this exact footprint. Why? Because a 6-inch scale means absolute shelf harmony. True collectors want their Batman to stand perfectly proportioned next to an imported mafex or standard retail Marvel Legends without looking like a giant freak. Precision scaling isn't a recommendation; it is the entire foundation of a successful universe. Bookmark this post and check back in when the 2027 lines roll out.

The last Phantom Lady action figure was released in 2002. The last statue/bust was in 2009. Do you remember where you were during 9/11? Because that's when Phantom Lady was coming off assembly lines in China.

Companies have won and lost the license and mined for obscure literal who's for over two decades now. The closest I probably got to a new figure was whoever at McFarlane loved Starman and was making characters from that series, but they fucked around and followed insane logic toy company logic where the less desirables are made first so they had to make Black Condor before Phantom Lady.

Now sex appeal is a cultural taboo so the odds of someone like Mattel making a Phantom Lady are pretty much zero. Even if they did, they'd probably go with Stormy Knight instead of Sandra Knight, and anyone other than Sandra Knight or Dee Tyler as PL is a hard pass.

It's so many gay ass hoops to jump through that I have no realistic hope of anyone making her, except maybe Todd releasing a public domain version as part of his Elite series. BBTS might go for it with their new crowdfunding platform. Plus Mattel's house style is fucking repulsive so even if they made her it'd just be a massive disappointment.

This confirms the JLU figures (Booster Gold, Deadshot and Wonder Woman) will be from the animated cartoon and not the current comic run. Anyways, I'm really excited for this JLU Batman. The sculpt looks really close to his animation model and the cut outs don't seem to compromise the figure. They can keep reusing this buck for other male JLU characters since they all share the same model. Such a big improvement from mcfarlane.

You're not wrong since he's meant to be bigger than usual in the comic but at the same time, I kinda don't mind it because having him at average Batman height makes it easier to have his bigger villains like Bane and Joker tower over him. I think I'll actually stick with Mattel for this since I don't really like the Absolute verse enough to go all-in on the imports.

I don't much care for Absolute Brainiac, but it seems like he's important. Ra's was Superrman's first major villain in the book so I get his inclusion. We didn't really need 3 versions of Superman, though the armor is cool enough. I assume only one of the blue or black will have the BAF piece, and the other will have some extra accessory, maybe Steel's hammer to recreate this.

Since the first wave included Hawkman who's more of a Superman character (at this time), I guess there's no guarantee a Wonder Woman wave would necessarily only feature WW characters. I'd think the armored look along with the unarmored WW would make sense, but otherwise I'm not sure what else they might pick from her universe. Otherwise there's Black Adam, more Bat characters. There's always Zatanna. BAF could be her skeletal Pegasus.

Sad, if true. I started a POL because one of vault pre-orders finally came in, and there's one other, so that's $54-55 + tax. I might add one extra of another vault figure and I will probably pick up a few of the sale items. Because it's all over-priced plastic junk not worth the retail, even a 50-70% discounted item is still $9-$13 so I will hit $100 in shitty McFart but that's purely because it's DC and the particular characters.
Todd's shat out about 8-10 DC figures every 30 or so days if you count vault, Super Friends, Ross Exclusives, Super Powers, and other Retro items like BTAS, but I can barely bring myself to have purchased about 10-15 of them and so of those I regret and plan to flip once I can, like Zatanna.

i think its pretty sad that the ideal company in making toys is DC Direct, yet nobody cared to buy their toys due to confusion about their lines.
    >>
    >>11927880
I bought them. They were pretty good for the time. They're a bit dated imo by today's standards but they're alright. I was just futzing with Green Lantern the other day. It'll be good to get updates though with more modern range of motion.
    >>
    >>11927492
    >And why display the packaging at all if it isn't remotely finished?
It's weird considering we've seen more or less fully developed packaging from the leaks from TF.
    >>
    >>11927864
I want to love hasbro toys but their art direction is so bad, they have a weird hard on for realism that just doesn't mesh well with comic book characters. Atleast mattel is getting it right by not sticking to one art style. The MvC2 line is a great example of how hasbro just refuses to change their style to fit the actual art style of the game they're basing it on.
    >>
    >>11927893
    >They're a bit dated imo by today's standards
i really hate the way people say this, because today's standards are basically the standards that existed in 2005, before HAsbro took over. Even then, the engineering from bck then offered better range of motion.

Also, two waist joints plus drop down hips was better than Hasbro's current standards and the paint was also many times better. So the only thing that was really missing on them was the inner shoulder joints.

Pic related is why i never bothered to buy most of what McFarlane offered and why i'm not going to bother buying Mattel's mediocrity. These are nearly perfect, except for Batman being too small and that's why i've bought Mezco's.

I think what HAsbro is doing is fine. They're just following in the footsteps of Toy Biz, who used to make cartoon versions for cartoon lines, but used the Marvel Legends toyline to genericize their characters. REalistic characters fit in with other realistic characters, and there's hundreds of different realistic lines every year, whereas some cartoon or comic version would only be able to fit in with the same style of cARtoon or comic.

And I'll bring up DC Direct again, who had multiple lines just to make ONE artist's version of the characters.
DC Direct was the ideal toy maker, who could give everyone what they wanted. And they had the best sculptors in the industry, who could do near perfect 1:1 renditions.

Where the fuck are those sculptors now? ProbABly going to waste.

It's not about how much Batman there is, it's about how many other characters we get as well, and the fact that they've already shown a Black Lightning bodes very well.
    >>
    >>11927935
While the articulation scheme is solid, the range is lacking in places and they could do with a few additions like thigh swivels and butterfly joints of some kind. The torso range on them is just a tad limited imo, like I said I was just playing around with my Icons GL like a week ago while listening to a podcast. Some stuff just felt a little antiquated when compared to like a modern GI Joe or something. And that's fine, they're over a decade old. Nothing wrong with that. I still have that Damian on my shelf and would be using that Babs if I didn't miss her when she was at my LCS. I only replaced Batman and Nightwing with the Mafex figs because they're just better figs, but at also like 3x the cost so it is what it is. They're far from perfect, but they're certainly good figures still.
    >>
    >>11927971
    >the Mafex figs because they're just better figs
    oof.
the articulation might be better, but they looked too much like the cheapo DCUC figures, complete with generic oversized beefcake bodies and ugly glossy plastics.
Neither ofthem look like Jim Lee style, but Batman made a good enough generic batman. Nightwing was supposed to be more lithe than how Mafex mde him, with their super exaggerated shoulders.

Also, if you had sold your Icons Nightwing a couple of years ago, you'd be able to buy a Mafex from his resale value. He's only going for $60 now, which is surprising, considering how great he still looks.

Also also, only the first Icons were a bit limited. Everything else was ML range or better later on.
    >>
    >>11927994
Ok, that doesn't make anything else I said untrue though. And I don't sell my toys because the return I never worth the hassle of mailing it out and I'm not a broke faggot that needs to sell my stuff to buy more stuff.

    >>11928123
we'll see how well the line goes.

We rarely had DC threads from 2009 til 2019, until it was announced that Mattel lost the DC license, and then we had a couple to rejoice that they finally lost the license.
When McFarlane started releasing their DC figures, we had one every week or thereabout, and everyone was posting about their toys.

So if Mattel's line does well, the DC thread should remain on the front page like it has been on almost daily basis since 2020 and dozens of anons posting their toys.
And i mean, after the launch hype, because even Hasbro's OVerwatch line managed to get a pretty big following for its first few months here on /toy/ and that line bombed pretty fast.
    >>
    >>11928126
Most have left do to VF shitposting. Activity here will never be a good barometer for the successfulness of a line. Perfect example would be Mattel’s kids line. It is selling like hotcakes but if you listen to retards here nobody is buying them.
    >>
    >>11928131
It's a pretty good barometer, especially with who it matters (us). Nobody gives a shit about kiddyshit lines.

You can look at how "well" Mattel's DC lines sold, because they kept making them year after year and were in almsot every store (with tons of pegwarming and clearances). But suddenly, the next year the line's name changed. And then another year. And another. All while barely anyone ever talked about Mattel's DC lines. Finally someone other than MAttel broke the news that MAttel lost the license.
No one ever announces that a line is doing poorly, but things like that are a big hint.

    >It is selling like hotcakes
    How do you know?
Again, go see Hasbro's Overwatch release or Jazware's 6" Fortnite line and how massive they seemed at first. IT's hard for people like us to know how well a line is selling, especially initially.
And again, we all saw how Mattel took all the poor sales for years, hoping shit would improve with the next movie or the next tv show or the movie after the next one. They never wanted to lose the license even at the end, despite WB stripping the license away from them due to poor sales, because the license was very important to their stock holders.
    >>
    >>11928139
Motu has considerable digital pegwarmers. (I don't really see it in stores) but they're still heavily promoting that. I guess maybe enough sells through that some stinkers are tolerated?
    >>
    >>11928143
so does GI Joe Classified, which is almost a Ross exclusive since 2021, given how nearly everything gets dumped at these surplus/discount stores.

Personally, i think shit like that is only there to act as a placeholder, because of how hard it is to get retailers to pick up a toyline. So Hasbro and MAttel are probably paying for the peg space or giving really deep discounts so that when the next movie/cartoon/video game comes out, they don't have to negotiate to get picked up again.
They just deal with really low sales or are happy to break even in the mean time.

This also cockblocks other toy companies from releasing their own shit too. So it has an added benefit of not allowing competition to get their own toylines on shelves.
    >>
Unironically the McFarlane is better than the Mattel Hush figure despite the pinned joints.
    >>
    >>11928139
This dying board of less than 200 users is absolutely not a barometer for how good a line is doing. Half of those less than 200 users don't even buy the toys they incessantly whine about.

    >Again, go see Hasbro's Overwatch release or Jazware's 6" Fortnite line and how massive they seemed at first. IT's hard for people like us to know how well a line is selling, especially initially.
Based on how quickly that first assortment sold out of say it was fairly popular, at least that first wave where people were trying out the line. I've never seen the next wave in store though. The hype for the new collector line is pretty high, even around here, despite the usual detractors.

And this general is dead and essentially one guy talking to himself about Phantom Lady. Honestly, I've learned that most of the time, 4chan tends to be wrong about whatever they're kevetching about and, more often than not, taking the opposite stance that they usually hold tends to be correct. So if they say something sucks for X reason, it probably doesn't. Not sure why you're so insistent on the opinions of others incluencing you, think for yourself and form your own opinions. You don't need 4chan to do it for you.

That's true, but it counts for dick when it comes to toys. Rule of thumb is when it comes to action figures, girls and blacks don't sell. Sometimes you can get girls off the pegs if you're dealing with a big name like Wonder Woman, or the girl is associated with a big name like Batgirl/Supergirl. John Stewart makes sense because Green Lantern branding and he just got that new show, but Black Lighting is way more obscure. It took McFarlane three years to do a Black Lightning, and even then they only did the one.

    >That doesn't even really make sense either considering store planograms are made months in advance.
Of course it doesn't make sense, because what does "considering store planograms are made months in advance" even mean?
You don't seem to understand how retail works.
How do you think Toy Fair even works? Toy companies go there to advertise their wares, making deals, many many months before their products get to the shelves. So those toylines that get clearanced and dump at discounters act as placeholders [a] YEAR[S] ahead of time, to ensure nothing popular takes their place at major retailers.
It prevents new products to show up, wholly or partially, and keeps Hasbro/Mattel's IP on shelves and on the forefront of people's attentions, so that they don't have to start all over again in raising a attention when they try to restart with a new movie/cartoon/vidya/etc.

    >>11928153
    >Based on how quickly that first assortment sold out
How do you know this? Do you work for NPD? At a distribution center? Work as a district manager who has access to numbers at a wide scale?
Or are you just looking at some random store, who remembers how poorly Mattel's shit shelf warmed and ordered 5 of each figure, thus "sold out" at a microscale, not understanding distribution centers may have a billion of unsold stock that won't show up until 10 months from now?
NAh, you're probably just a dumbshit who's just disagreeing just to shit up the place.
Again, it's impossible for us to know how well something sells until the line actually bombs and/or starts showing up enmass at discounters and/or /toy/ forgetting the line exists 6 months after the intiial hype

You know, that anon IS a fuckwit, BUT there are enough similarities with the figure, that if they changed the forearms to give the JLU Bats shorter gloves, changed the belt, and thickened the legs to get away from the classic 90s/00s Timm leg style, Mattel could turn it into a passable enough Caped Crusader Batman. Of course no-one would buy it because no-one liked Caped Crusader, but it could be done.

The increasing price is getting to be a bit much, especially with the lack of accessories from the past few releases. I was really feeling it was Ra's, would it have killed them to include a coat of some kind? Anyway at least stuff like Wonder Woman looks to be a bit more worthwhile price wise.

I'm in somewhat of the same boat anon. I skipped McFarts for a number of reasons including the scale not fitting in with the rest of my collection, me not liking Todd's particular house style, and just being frustrated by certain design decisions, so I too skipped them. Currently my DC collection is a mix of Mafex Bat stuff and Icons. They work well enough for now, but I can't wait to start adding in Mattel stuff. Out of everything leaked, I think I'm most anticipating that new Hal. It looked like exactly what I want in a Hal Jordan figure. For $28 figures, they look pretty good, and I'm interested to see more of the Ultimates. A little disappointed with the Killing Joke Batman using the shitty recolor suit colors though.

why are toy reviewers such sellouts?
also is this $100 travesty the only way to get their hush batman? did they say anything about a single release?
    >>
    >>11929422
What are you expecting from a review? If people are positive about things and about what they've seen, surely that doesn't automatically make them sellouts. I've only seen a couple looks at it and it seems that most recognize the limitations, but also seem to acknowledge that from what they've seen and were told, that Mattel is already improving things for upcoming figures.

Anyway, from the leaks we've seen, we've not seen anything of a Hush Batman painted in this way in other releases. But I don't think you should be particularly worried about a pretty generic Batman design, it'll show up again at some point in some form or another.
    >>
    >>11929422
They haven't said outright, but they implied that you shouldn't rush out to get the Hush set if you don't want the diorama. Many are interpreting that as they're doing a standalone Hush figure and that makes sense, I don't see why they wouldn't.

The new Raven somehow feels a lot more satisfying than the first one, despite the fact it's mostly the same mold. Mattel can ship them as samples to people since they aren't receiving payment for them. They just can't ship paid for product to the pubic before the Jan 1 date. That's pretty standard with these types of licensing deals.
    >>
    >>11929425

So I got my first Premier figure, saw Batman and Robin and grabbed Batman for fun. They are a solid bit of fun, definitely cheap. If I could alternate them a bit, replace the waist cut with a ball and socket, and remove the boot swivel (if we need to retain the number of PoA) and give them ankles, even just the old DCUC style disc ankle joint. I'll probably grab Superman if I see him, maybe others if I ever see them at a nice discount. GL would be a good one for the constructs.

They did sculpt her some new thighs (and shoulders?) so that really helps. It's one of the last McFarlane figures I'm happy to get as I'm waiting for Mattel's stuff.
    >>
They seem to have botched Arisia and Star Sapphire which I guess is par for the course on McFarlane females, despite the exceptions like that 2nd Raven. Star Sapphire's design just doesn't work with the McFarlane articulation style so the painted on look for her suit looks cheap, headsculpt looks bored. Arisia, same for her chest, headsculpt is hard to see well in the in hand pics but doesn't look too great.
    >>
    >>11929852
    We didn't ask.
    >>
    >>11929860
They seem to have done a fine job on the Absolute figures which is no surprise since they were forced to make entirely new sculpts for them. Absolute Batman looks especially huge and bulky and WW and Supes look like they stepped right out of the comic.
    >>
    >>11929862
Oh okay. Didn't ask about that either.
    >>
    >>11929863
As for the rest of the in-hand pics, the Soranik Natu figure seems to have a headsculpt that is fit for a Seven of Nine custom once repainted for some reason. The body used is rather boring though. Mary Shazam looks comically huge at the hips so I don't think it's buyable. Although the face looks nice. So many mixed bag figures at McFarlane Toys.

Val Zod is on the best Superman body McFarlane ever did so that's good for Val Zod fans I guess. The Elite Clark Kent looks totally not worth the price.

And that appears to be the end of the line for the DC Multiverse line. It went out as it came in, flaws and all. Sometimes beautiful, sometimes deeply flawed. Some high highs and the deepest lows. Wasn't DC Multiverse a lot like...life?

    >>
    >>11930201

... but what height is that spiderman?

Also, the people talking about Marvel being 6.5 scale don't own any toys or know anything about Marvel, because Hasbro still tries to make their toys 1:12 scale. The scale issue only happens when they use Captain America and Thor bodies on 6" and under characters.
    Too much reuse.

As for Mattel, their shit was never 1:12. Who knows about the upcoming line, but there's a reason why most people ignored their lines from 2007 til 2019. Almost no cross over buyers, becasue shit was too oversized.
    In scale with nothing.
    >>
    >>11930253
    >the people talking about Marvel being 6.5 scale don't own any toys or know anything about Marvel, because Hasbro still tries to make their toys 1:12 scale
ML has been notoriously creeping up in size though, and a lot of modern comic MLs do scale around 6.5 inches than true 1/12 scale as with their Star Wars BS and GI Joe Classified line. Also using the old Bucky Cap body mold as a point of comparison is a moot point when a lot of modern MLs scale slightly larger than the proportions seen on that body mold.
    >>
    >>11930232
then they would be lying, wouldn't they? if the box doesn't say 1/12, then it's not 1/12. it would be non-scale. these companies aren't retarded enough to put themselves in frivolous lawsuits over false marketing. if you have a functioning brain, you can verify it yourself by measuring the figures and doing the math. none of these companies actually have the balls to do actual 1/12 figures. even jap ones. only some chinese brands do it and even Inart was caught lying

    >>
    >>11930272
Holy shit you are so fucking autistic. Not LITERALLY 1/12 down to the millimeter. It's a general 1/12 scale all these companies use. Hasbro has been using the closer to accurate scale for Star Wars and some MCU figures, then the more exaggerated scale that has most males creeping up to 6.5" tall for the superhero comic Marvel Legends scale. That superhero scale that's a little larger than 1/12 but not quite something like 1/14 is what Mattel is doing.
    >>
    >>11930270
Like i said, they reuse too much shit, but it certainly isn't 6.5" or 1:11 scale.

    >>11930274
so what's the height on those spidermans?
And i think being exactly 5.84" would be extremely anal, since 100.6% of lines that say that they're whatever scale are ever that accurate. So as long as they're around a forehead of a difference off, i think that's accurate enough. So the two on the left would be okay, despite their difference and the two on the right being the same character is ok despite the height difference. Left pair and right pair are bsically two different characters though, bsed on height.

I think when they're THIS (pic) much off that i think it matters. Flash here is not only just taller, but his girth is also too thick. The scAle is noticeably off.
And Mattel's Hush Batman looks to be another scale just like pic. Will the rest of the line be too?

    >being exactly 5.84" would be extremely anal
then dont call 1/12 retard call it 6 inch like it is. i dont understand why you faggots are insecure with non-scale figures not being 1/12 to the point that you HAVE to pretend they are 1/12 when they fucking arent. calling 6inch like it actually is would be infinitely more convenient because thats what non-scale figures usually go for

So you have no idea how big an inch is, because you're a dirty foreigner.
You don't know how big any of the figures that were posted, because you can't afford them like a third worlder.
And you think toys can only be considered part of a scale, if they're perfectly accurate, when 100.99% of toy companies and most model companies can't/don't/won't?

I'd tell you to get meds so you don't continue sperging out on /toy/, but you can't afford that either.

I mean, by your own autistic standards, you can't call them 6" nor 6.5" scale either, because height varies as much as it does from 1:12 scale.
Since you're a third worlder who's a newfag to this hobby, you don't understand that first worlders in the US understand "scale" to be an estimate to where a toyline would actually fit in. This how this rule has worked since the 80s and probably before i was born. This is why the old 3.75" Star Wars figures have been conjsidered 1:18 scale, along with the modern 1:18 Star Wars figures that are larger than the 3.75" line.

In short, you're a retarded Rashid who latched onto the definition of scale because you're a poorfag who can't afford the toys you're trying to talk about and just want something to argue anything because you're lonely and unimportant.

    >>11930425
    >if its 6 inches call it 6 inches if its 6.5 inches call it 6.5 inches
but it's neither, rashid. That's part of my point, because you're obsessed over the scale being exact, when nearly every single line has been a estimation that just fits into 1:12 scale.

Again, if you weren't a thirld worlder and owned any of these figures, you'd understand that. If you by some miracle you own something, put a ruler next to 8 figures and notice some will even be under 6". And sometimes a figure will measure out how hes supposed to, or close enough.
Again, even scale models do the same shit. Exactness is exceedingly rare, but you wouldn't know this, because you're just a third worlder who doesn't own toys nor models and thinks scale lines are ever exact.

you have no argument but ignorant misconceptions, hence me knowing you're a dirty third worlder.

Flash himself shouldn't be body builder HUEG, because he's just some scientist guy who got his speed powers by an accident. The problem with Flash is that he's using a Superman body, which is still HUEG when compared to DC/Marvel/Mafex/etc sculptors, because that's just 4H's style.
So because of 4H (a studio of sculptors) the entire DC line didn't fit in with a ton of other superhero toylines, especially because the body reuse was ridiculous.

That reuse is why so many people shit on Mattel, so that's a big fear when it comes to their upcoming DC line, because will they continue misappropiate body reuse in ways that McFarlane and Marvel have never approached? Given their current lines, it's a probably.
    >>
    >>11930478
McFarlane got pretty egregious on reuse in the last 2 years. No idea how bad Matt will be as the line goes on though.
    >>
    >>11930485
McFarlane was slightly better than Hasbro, which isn't saying much, but Mattel is the King Cheapo of body reuse.
As far as I've noticed, there's a ton of reuse in their current HeMan and wrestling lines.

You really need to not base your opinion on decades old figures that have really no relevance anymore. If the company is still this bad, you should at least post more recent examples, it would help your argument. Even if you're right, I'm less inclined to believe you because of your decades old example.
    >>
    >>11930488
We all know how bad Mattel was. It's just a question of how the DC line will be going forward. It's possible it'll be just as bad just with newer bucks, but it'll take some waves to see. The start will always be them trying to lure people in and put their best foot forward. But over time we'll see.

    yep
Did they learn their lesson when the license was stripped away from them?
I think it'll take almost two years for it to be clear on whether or not they do. ... if they're like Hasbro or McFarlane. If they continue being King Cheapo, it'll take less than a year.

go to any Target or Walmart and you can see it for yourself.
I'd love to buy the HeMan shit, but everytime i see how samefag their bodies look, i can't give them any of my money for being that cheap.
Even when I see their shit at Ross, where i know that they've taken a loss, i can't pull the trigger.

One of the few Mattel things I've bought are the Jurassic Park stuff, because not only did they produce a rare military vehicle that's in 1:18, but it's actually wholly brand new molded stuff. So i paid up... and bought a couple more once they went to Ross.
Mattel can be good when they try.

    >Just because you say something doesn't make it true
The sun rose today. The sky is blue. I've seen Mattel's HeMan and wrestling lines in stores and it's full of samefag bodies.

Shit like that is self evident and you only need to go outside to realize it.

And i won't post any examples, because i have no idea what they're even called. There's been a billion HeMan and wrestling dudes released since 1984. Since i don't know the specific names for subline #324 for 2026 (possibly 2025/2024 for the Ross stuff), I'll get a literal million results and I'm not going to bother researching that shit when i don't even bother to buy them after a little scrutiny.

And expecting me to come up with comparisons is inane, especially since shit like I've posted is actually rare to find today. Shit that i actually care a lot about, because fanboys like to research shit that they love.
Maybe it's common to find comparisons in videos, but fuck if im going to scrub through a dozen videos just to prove to someone who doesn't go outside that rain is wet.
How wet is it? Well, that's the only question when it comes to Mattel learning their lesson after being desperate for boys licenses when their stock dropped.

pic is one of the very few images I've saved of HeMan toys, not even meant for comparison sake, yet it shows exactly what i've been talking about. It's like throwing a dart into the air and winning something just for hitting the floor. bounces count.

    >>11930628
NTA but why are people upset about Mattel using the same buck for multiple characters? It makes sense for comic characters and it keeps cost down. Just come up with a variety of Bucks, buff male, skinny male, suit, voluptuous female, slim female, kid male, kid female. With that, some clever part-swapping and overlays you can cover basically every superhero. Which frees up budget for doing fancier specialised figures.
    >>
    >>11930635
    1. People are upset because it looks cheap.
    2. [...] the body doesn't fit the character (see the flash comparison image)
    3. [...] scale creep happens
    4. [...]the character looks worse because the pieces don't always fit together.
    -4a: head is too small/big
    -4b: arms/legs/torso/etc have gaps
    -4c: legs/arms/torso/etc are too long
-4d: .... do you get the point? I can go on for literal pages on why reuse is hated.
And if enough new bucks are made, the more likely an old hated buck is retired.

But since Mattel reused shit so often, we rarely had DC threads when the yhad the licese. More DC threads were made in each year of McFarlane/Spinmaster having the license than were made in 5 years of Mattel's reign. That's how much people hated/didn'tgive a fuck when Mattel was in charge.

    >Which frees up budget for doing fancier specialised figures.
Or you know, don't be a cheapass and the price you're already paying covers that fancier specialized figure like many lines already do.
Mattel is bottom of the barrel when it comes to doing fancier specialized figures too, because Hasbro, Jazwares, McFarlane, and many more spend more on their figures at all times AND also do that fancier figure more often.

pic is something only oldfags would get
    >>
    >>11930635
    >Which frees up budget for doing fancier specialised figures.
Problem is, because these are corporations, that won't occur. Instead they'll just keep reusing the same 6 bodies for everything to max profits.
    >>
    >>11930642
Okay, but literally all of those same issues have happened with Hasbro in the time that they've had the Marvel Legends license. In fact things like scale creep became a serious problem with the MCU figures a few years back when the new Caps and Thors were standing a full head taller than the earlier figures. And it's only more recent that they've been putting more effort into making new bodies, and that too is causing scaling issues because they keep making newer figures which while definitely nicer, end up making older figures look like shit and fucking up your display, case and point Hulk and Abomination, they keep putting out a Hulk, then an abomination, then a bigger Hulk, and if you get it you need to get a new Abomination. Look at the MvC Juggernaut they just put out, that thing is fucking huge, and you know they're gonna put out a Hulk that big soon as well. But the price increases are not reflective of the figure, that new Doc Samson is a lot of re-use from Luke Cage, it only comes with an alternate head and hands, and fuck all paint, but it costs almost as much as the Professor Hulk.

All that said, I don't give a shit about re-use so long as the figures look good, I never bothered with Mattel's DC Classics because I didn't like the sculpt, but toy sculpting has come a long way since then and the new Mattel Premier Superman shits all over the old DC Classics.

    >>11930628
I'm not even saying you're wrong, just that you do a shit job at backing up your claims. I guess a five year old image is better than a 10+ year old one, but again, it would really help your cause more if you did a little googling and came up with examples from more recent. Again, not even saying you're wrong, I'm trying to help you.
    >>
    >>11930659
    >same issues
same issues, but a lot less often because they use way more bodies, hence the Marvel Legend General being a mainstay and one of the most popular Generals on /toy/.
Marvel toys in general are popular at retail, and it isn't just because of the movies, because literal whos from the comics are made all the time and the line remains popular year round because of that.

Whereas DC... well, who gave a shit about these horrible toys. There's a reason there were more DC threads in 2019 than in 3 years before it and that was mostly to spit on Mattel and hype up the upcoming figures from Mcfarlane and spinmaster

And jus so you know, Hasbro's ML line suffered in sales when they took over for Toy Biz, because they lowered teh budget and sales crashed hard enough for them to actually cancel the ML line. Hasbro eventually learned that they needed to do better.

    > toy sculpting has come a long way since then
    In what way?
the only thing that's really improved is that it's a bit faster and they can see how pieces fit together before approving the molds in China.
    >>
    >>11930679
You're not going to convince me that Marvel toys are somehow innately more popular than DC ones. It's that the DC product put out has been deeply flawed for a long time, with Mattel and then McFarlane. Hasbro's MLs are flawed, but not to the extent that Mattel's old DCMV was that just looked like cheap throwaway garbage or that McFarlane is with the weird scale, sometimes totally screwed up articulation where the figure can't even crunch forward or can't move its ankles due to a hard overlay covering the joint or characters just looking plain unappealing.
    >>
    >>11930676
I would have to think he's thinking of Origins and WWE Superstars or Masters of the WWE Universe. In terms of the collector lines, there was zero re-use between Masterverse, and now Chronicles, and any of the WWE Elite/Ultimate figures.

He's almost certainly thinking of Masterverse (which is supposedly a collector line) and there is a good deal of reuse in Masterverse. They also swapped away from a female buck that used double jointed elbows to single jointed. It has not even 90 degree range which is going backwards. Here's an example of arm and leg reuse.

i literally said the opposite, hence saying literal whos from the comics selling better than MAttel's crummy shit, despite MAttel's crummy shit being based on more popular characters.

Kids are smart enough to know how bad something like this is, especially when you have other figures that are better made hangng two pegs away.

I mean, there's a reason why McFarlane's DC line sold so well, despite being exactly the same characters.

    >>11930679
    >In what way?
I should probably have said engineering, rather than specifically sculpt, because sculpting and articulation are constant balancing act. Toy Biz Marvel Legends had a lot of detail, but fucking horrendous looking articulation, digital sculpting allows for far more seemless integration of articulation, it also lets digital scanning do a better job of translating things like actor likenesses into figure form.
There is a trade-off, the style de jour is realism, compared to the early 00s where massive amounts of detail and stylisation were preferred, which I do miss to an extent, but the consistency of style makes for easier presentation on the shelf.
Consider these two Superman figures, 2003 on the left 2026 on the right. Both standard retail figures aimed at kids, left would have been sculpted with a physical medium like clay or wax, then the articulation added after, every joint with the exception of the shoulders is a hinge or swivel, and it can barely move, the elbows bend to maybe 30 degrees, they also move different amounts because the sculpt is not symmetrical. I still like it, it's a gorgeous figure, but the new Mattel one destroys it in almost every regard, better proportions, better articulation, it's just a better toy.

Why are we seeing so much more of this lately though from even Hasbro? McFarlane has been doing it for years but now even MLs are getting poorly done joints where they just cut the sculpt and don't attempt to make it look natural at all.

In fact, that 2026 figure looks worse than 2001 figures from Toy Biz.

Seriously, do you know how bad it was to see so many DC toys out there and not buying shit becasue the ylooked like shit? It's like watching your high school sweetheart making out with the janitor and then pooping out ugly bAbies every year.

And engineering really hasn't improved either since 2003... well, except for Mattel, because Mattel continues being outmodded like a 210lb 60 year old janitor who hates the internet and still uses landline instead of owning cellular phone of any sort.
    >>
    >>11930695
Oh, I took it to mean reuse between the two lines, given that there was a pic of He-Man and DKR Bats.
    >>
    >>11930708
Because the joints are supposed to look best when the figure is standing straight. Not saying that the straight cut isn't kinda ugly, but it's really only noticeable on larger figures, and it provides the greatest range of motion.
The other issue you face is if you don't have some flat areas in a joint, then it will let you over-extend the joint in directions you don't want it to which will eventually destroy the figure.
