Just saw on a livestream and one of the people that was at NYCC said that the leaks we've seen (I guess 3 waves, if Batman/Robin, All In Flash, and John Stewart are the next wave, though no BAF shown, so who knows) was only 1/6 of what Mattel actually showed. I can't imagine that means there were 60 more plus interspersed BAFs figures shown... but I guess there was a lot more there. Too bad a bit more didn't leak, but I guess I'm glad we got some at least.

i heard something about some guy accidentally saying on a post-con post that the highest tier stuff costs around 34.99. can't remember where i read it though so you'll have to take my word for it (which would mean it's about the same as the wwe stuff, and cheaper than the marvel legends equivalent to boot.)
    >>
    >>11921555
Legends are in trouble. They aren't going to be able to keep exploiting their customers when most already have big Marvel collections but can now swap to DC and build out there

    >>11921145
that TV show has raised Hal's star power among normies exponentially, even more than the peak Johns era since only big fucking nerds read comics. A ton of people loved his performance and think Hal is a cool character now.

    >>
    >>11921602
It's rather naive to think there isn't a lot of cross over between Marvel and DC audiences. You may not like DC but many others do.
    >>
    >>11921567
    >>11921607
I'm sure many want both, or at least the A-listers of one or the other to supplement their comic universe of choice, but at the same time I doubt just because there's a cheaper option, even if someone like DC more than Marvel, that they won't still buy the Marvel character they want from Hasbro, even if overpriced. Who else is going to make some ROM, or Crystar, or Acroyear (in 6", there are others out there getting released, amusingly) or other more notable characters that aren't quite notable enough for Mafex or others to touch. Will they buy less and shift their focus? Maybe, but I doubt Hasbro is losing any sleep over it, if anything they're excited for DC to start getting made in the same scale, as now it may attract DC fans to supplement their collection with similarly sized characters like a Wolverine or Spider-Man.

I just went to a mall my mom used to take me to that had KB Toys, Sbarro's, Hot Topic, GameStop, and three book stores, plus a bunch of clothing stores.
Hot Topic is the only store still open, everything else is just a locked gate.
The only McFarlanes my Walmart has are a Starman Jack, Superman with red eyes, and some Savage Dragons.

I think part of the reason I liked collecting DC Multiverse was the chance that there might be something new on the shelves, even if it was vampire shit it was still cool to look at.

Star Wars has a smaller shelf space than Jurassic Park now. Wild shit.
    >>
    >>11921650
    Did Mom buy you lunch?
    >>
    >>11921567
This is such a bullshit thought process. I buy $100 imports of DC characters alongside my Marvel Legends. I still will be buying $100 imports of DC characters because I'm just that deep in to it already, but I will be getting stuff from Mattel to accompany my Mafex figs. And it's not going to stop me from buying Legends. Only brand warring faggots like yourself try to push this idea that people are buying one or the other.
    >>
    >>11921650
It seems like all joyful, good stores with happy memories vanished and got replaced by soulless Targets and filthy Walmarts.
    >>
    >>11921660
But it will cut back on people's senseless purchasing, anon. Like if you go for Mattel's DC and get a few figures a month, you get regular figures there, you won't feel the need to buy every little Legend to scratch the buying itch. You can ignore all those weird alt look Cyclops and Wolverines they keep shitting out and only buy when there is a space that needs filled.
    >>
    >>11921663
No it won't. How broke are you that you can't fathom someone being able to afford both? Also, why are you acting like this isn't currently happening right now with McFarlane and Legends? Stop being a brand warring retard and trying to start shit for no reason. You deserve to be bullied in real life for being such a fuck.

    >Like if you go for Mattel's DC and get a few figures a month, you get regular figures there, you won't feel the need to buy every little Legend to scratch the buying itch
How little impulse control do you have that you have a "buying itch"? Are you actually buying shit you don't care about for the sake of buying something? Are you a fucking woman? Holy shit. I recently got a bunch of new toys but prior to that I went almost two months without getting anything new. I buy a toy because I want a plastic representation of a character in that particular outfit. Not because I have money burning a while in my pocket. Grow up.

    >You can ignore all those weird alt look Cyclops and Wolverines they keep shitting out and only buy when there is a space that needs filled.
Fuck you. I'm not some casual faggot who only pretends to be into these IPs for some imaginary Internet clout. I buy the alt looks of Cyclops because I want a Jim Lee look, an Astonosh8ng X-Men look, a New X-Men look. Don't presume everyone else is some casual bitch because you only pretend to like these characters. Again, fuck right off, your opinion is worth less than nothing.

Nah I bought her pizza last night. I told her Raven is supposed to arrive today or tomorrow and she's hyped. She used to make Barbie scale dioramas and likes just looking at toys and cool stuff, whenever I tell her it was a toy shipment by the time I get there the box is opened and she's been looking at it on the kitchen counter.
Explaining Doomsday, Superman Red/Blue, and Hush Catwoman when I'd just picked up Arkham Catwoman and Batman Returns Catwoman was tough.

    >>11921661
Even Target is shitty now. They used to have restaurant space in stores and I remember eating hot dogs with my grandma. Now it's just a wall of salads and juice by the front door.

I'm thinking about this stuff because Mattel is ramping up for a huge release but like, where? Amazon? Walmart is shuffling the toy section over by the flowers and car parts away from the food where most foot traffic is. They've dedicated a finite number of shelves to toys and realistically there isn't room for pegwarmers like Black Lantern. At most they're only going to get one or two cases per store and that number can't grow, they have to hope each wave sells out before stores order more product.
McFarlane figured out the market cap on adults buying toys and completely ignored the kid market because kids don't want toys anymore. Mattel's plan sounds big but realistically there isn't space or the market to sustain their ambitions.

The days are nearly over of the joy of just walking into an aisle and being surprised. They should be though. When normies are introduced to a character the first time, it's important not to totally fuck up the character so that people don't have that first impression as their main reference point. Or if you are going to make significant changes then it should be to make the character way cooler, like Blade, the Wesley Snipes version is nothing like his original comic counter-part, but it's such an improvement it works.

If you don't realize this is the show's attempt at doing Emerald Twilight and GL Rebirth then you're a fake fan. Swap Kyle out for John, reveal in a season or two that the reason 2016 Hal was so abrasive and different from his 2006 version was because of a yellow fear bug crawling up his ass and then being him back and you have Johns Rebirth storyline. Come on guys. You can't be this casual.
    >>
I hope the new Legacy and Ultimate line stays consistent with how they differ in quality to justify the extra pricing. It's frustrating how McFarlane's collectors line has major inconsistences with giving characters extra stuff whilst still charging $35, yet some of the standard releases have better paint, accessories, and overall sculpt than them.
    >>
    >>11921834
Do you want me to tell you the logic behind what is a standard McFarlane DCMV release and what is a McFarlane CE? There is a rubric. It's not accessory count or paint or sculpt or new tooling. It's that they think people will pay $35 for the figure. That's it.
    >>
    >>11921778
I think people like that version of Hal because he isn't insane like John and every other character in that show. The only reason we kept watching was in the hope there'd be a Hal episode and we'd get to see him do a bunch of awesome Green Lantern stuff. lol.

    >>11921821
Fuck the Lanterns show. In a sane world that dogshit is never getting another season and everyone involved is banned from doing anything creative for life. It isn't just an awful Green Lanterns show, it's one of the worst shows ever made.
Stop rationalizing it, stop making defenses for it or saying, "Well in the next season..." No. Fuck it. Kill it. There is no excuse for the amount of money pissed away on a show that goes nowhere and does nothing but piss on Hal and make John a delusional schizo who thinks the birds are watching him.
I'm so fucking pissed I got tricked into watching that shit.

    >It may not be a good adaptation but clearly this is what they're going for.
Intention counts for dick when you fuck up the execution. Tommy Wiseau wanted The Room to be the next American classic, the intention was for it to be a grand emotional epic, but that doesn't make The Room a good film.
If they wanted to do Emerald Twilight, then they should have fucking done Emerald Twilight, but they didn't because that's not what they wanted to do, they wanted to do a True Detective rip-off and use it to shit on Hal Jordan and shuffle him off the board to bring in John Stewart, because the writers don't give a shit about Hal Jordan or Green Lantern at all, they saw that there was one black guy who had the mantle of Green Lantern and decided that it was good opportunity to bring in race politics because that's all Hollywood knows how to write anymore, and because outside of the Justice League cartoon (which is the only time John Stewart has been an interesting character), Stewart is always written as "whitey don't care about the black man."

    >they saw that there was one black guy who had the mantle of Green Lantern and decided that it was good opportunity to bring in race politics because that's all Hollywood knows how to write anymore, and because outside of the Justice League cartoon (which is the only time John Stewart has been an interesting character), Stewart is always written as "whitey don't care about the black man."
The funny thing is, John was introduced as a "whitey don't care about the black man" rabid Black Panther type battling apartheid, and had nothing but resentment for Hal and Ollie's attempts to help. This was during the GL & GA Hard Traveling Heroes proto-woke era where they were tackling REAL SOCIAL ISSUES, with Hal being the conservative strawman and Ollie being, you know, Ollie. Of course, this was the era before nuance was dead and The Message™ was everything, so Hal was allowed to be right sometimes, Ollie was allowed to be wrong, and they usually wound up still being friends at the end of the issue. John, for his part, was extremely entertaining as the borderline psychotic craKKKA-hating firebrand, but you weren't supposed to think he was right, you were just supposed to understand why he was the way he was, and he and Hal would understand each other better by the end of the issue.

This was all ultimately discarded for the soldier boy persona we knew for the longest time, which is fine. Guy's iconic dickass portrayal was a retcon too, and nobody minds that. But I feel confident that the original John would spit in Lanterns John's face and call him a faggot. You could get away with that back then.
    >>
    >>11921883
Was it an actual retcon or was it more that Guy got brain damage because he got hit by a bus? Does that count as a retcon or as "character development"? Regardless. You're ultimately right and it never doesn't make me laugh to think Guy Gardner is the way he is because of a severe head trauma.

can any of you give an actual example of this tv show “shitting on Hal”? or how it’s “woke”? as some other actual DC fans have stated, John Stewart being Green Lantern alone doesn’t qualify. DC has largely shit on Hal since emerald twilight and pushed John as the replacement so that’s not even anything new.
make your case. I’m not watching that shit but I’m curious.
    >>

    >>
    >>11921949
I haven't watched the whole thing but apparently John merely existing shits on Hal. Despite literally everyone loving the performance of Hal's actor. If you think he's gone for good you're stupid. Simple as. As for being woke, only thing I can see is the Stewart's blame them being black for John's dad being passed over as the Lantern for Hal. But then John has always been about race since his inception so I'm not really bothered by it that much. It's a bit heavy handed in the show but that suits John's early character.

The biggest problem the show has isn't Hal or Kyle, it's the setting. Why are we doing a True Detective/Yellowstone style mystery on some random town on Kansas? All they had to do was make it space Kansas and have Kyle Chandler wear the fuckong costume for more than two minutes and you guys would be happy.

I know there's a new company partly run by NECA that seems to be made up of properties they acquired when diamond select went out of business, I know NECA's artists prefer to work in that 7 inch American collector scale that Diamond, NECA, and McFarlane are all associated with. I know that though those figures can be articulated they prioritize sculpt and paint over engineering. My conclusions were presented as being absolute, I'll admit, I could have started both sentences in my post with "probably" but I feel that I was posting in good faith. Do you?

I wasn't sure about her at first but she's really grown on me. There's some interesting stuff happening with the shoulders and hips where she has more rotation than other female McFarlanes.
God damn a Phantom Lady would be so easy to make and if she had this kind of articulation she'd be perfect.

You'd be surprised how hard it is to find just bare arms and legs in the year of our lord two thousand and twenty six without resorting to those Jap coomer figures with the squishy boobs.
I even bought one of those squishy boobs Jab figures, two of them actually because the boob size was listed as large and extra large or something and I wasn't sure by the pics which would look better in person. But the problem with squishy doll boobs is they crack when you paint them so you have to make doll clothes, and I fucking hate 1/10 scale doll clothes.
    >>
    >>11922540
The Cowl Oni might be the right size. She has firm tits, not a soft plastic and they're famously paintable.

There's also the Fury body which is definitely 1/10 compatible.

Instead of soft goods you could use acrylic or resin clay.
    >>
    File: phantomlady.png (261 KB, 834x775)
    261 KB PNG
    >>11922575
Those are interesting suggestions. Oni would be almost perfect except for those hip joints, but it's close. Fury's hips are a little too wide. I know she seems like a coomer character but she's actually a detective who hunts nazis and serial killers for sport so she needs to be a balance between sexy and tough.
Some hero out there on cults3d made a Phantom Lady head. I could repaint a Raven cloak, so really I'm just making a swimsuit and a belt.
It'd be easy, but it's easier for someone else like McFarlane to just pay tens of thousands of dollars for a production run at the eleventh hour and repaint some blank bucks really quick, for me specifically.
If I do it on my own it'd be like a lifetime process where I spend a decade alone just sanding and refining the wrinkles in her suit, selling off my precious McFarlanes to buy a cabin in the woods where I can spend all my time whittling away at this all-consuming obsession.

Well its always nice to hear that mcfarlane puts out a figure where their hip rotation actually partly works. There is so many where it's hindered. It's basically built into every figure but for some reason they dont sculpt with it in mind

    >>
    >>11923320
The point is to always have a Batman on the horizon because he is an entry point. Personally I wouldn’t mind getting multiple of characters as long as they actually look different. So far all 3 Batman figures I’ve seen from the line are different enough to get.
    >>
    >>11923342

    >>
    >>11923353
    >The only thing that got ai’d was the Superman head.
NTA, but the problem is that even if the intention and prompt is just to swap out the head, AI rebuilds the entire image, so it gives the entire thing a "smear" of AI. It also has softened or changed details on the figures, like Wonder Woman has an extra seam on the belt and her cape is posed differently, the alternate hands for Batman are now just blobs, and Superman's knees are just random lines, also the shadows are blurred on all of them.

If they hit 25, have BaFs, and wired capes, along with extra hands/head, the value would be incredible. Don't want to jinx it but if the base figure is good, which it looks to be pretty solid, even 30 wouldnt feel like a ripoff.

Oh that's right, I forgot, any character or person published by DC can be posted in the DC general. Which is why you keep posting the same pictures of your shitty display. Boy I'm sure glad McFarlane has us covered with all his sports figures. I really wanted a figure of Ndamukong Suh after he helped the Justice League that time.

Same with Michael Strahan. Now I just need a good Justin Tuck figure.

I don't know, but there are plenty of custom recipes to make your very own DC Comics character Colonel Sanders. And you can use Mattel wrestling figures as the base, so they'll fit in with the new line, and you can just throw out all the shitty McFarlane figures and upgrade!

It's not even entirely Trump's fault that prices are going up. The tariffs didn't help, but that's more of a store thing, companies like Hasbro just want to put prices up because they promised their investors infinite growth, and they use whatever the current thing is as an excuse. They'll blame oil prices, manufacturing costs, environmental restrictions, inflation, whatever, the price just needs to go up to increase the bottom line, and they'll do it as much as the market will tolerate.

    >>
    >>11924483
There's no way they're going to be less than $30 when Star Wars and GI Joe are asking for that for their six inch lines. Turns out Todd was right about doing everything he could to keep prices as low as possible for us. DC Multiverse chads are sitting pretty with the ultimate collection that Mattel babies are trying to copy for the same price but with an inch less of figure.

The only line of figures at a reasonable price for low income collectors is blokees, and their quality is quickly surpassing imports like mafex. If DC Gen can't afford Mattel toys then they should be buying blokees, it's just that simple.

    50 individual figures total.
BAFs don’t count and neither do duplicates of army builders. The only exception to my rule are lanterns. They are their own thing.
    >>
    >>11924641
Ok. Just buy what you want like normal people do and stop worrying about some arbitrary number you came up with.
    >>
    >>11924530
Mattel is the only current company I know of that made toys based only on unused concept art. MotU h'sd some obscure stuff in the movie and its toylines too. It's obviously different teams but I'm sure that's a good sign for glup shitto enjoyers
    >>
    >>11924649
Nothing wrong with limiting himself. Doesn't mean that once he hits 50 he stops buying, just that he'll keep 50. And rules can change, you can already see all those extra caveats in there, so who's to say teambuilding won't change the total or be exempt. Shelf space is also a definite concern, and 50 figures is a lot of space.

    >>11924641
Yeah after going buck wild with Mcfarlanes over the years and now at the end of the line being a able to sit back and look at everything it’s apparent I not only bought too much I was just buying shit to buy it sometimes. I don’t even like the majority of it. I’m in the process of unloading everything but my main justice league and mega figs. I need to sit down and make a wishlist and stick to that and like you set general rules. I don’t think I’ll ever try to build a classic justice league again for one. I think titans are going to be my main priority this go around and grabbing only my favorite leaguers. I am worried they’ll get me with BAFs but I’ll just sell the figures from the wave I don’t want instead of keeping it in a bin.
    >>
    >>11924689
    >>11924697

We all have problems where do you think you are.jpg lol.

I'm thankful I'm really picky or at least try to be and only chose my favourites from each line out of everything I collect. The problem is sometimes I love everything and sometimes I collect too many toys at once it evens out anyways. Out of everything shown I'm just getting WW and Hal. Maybe the two Supermans if his face looks better and maybe Black Lightning after that...

But once that 'completionist' thing sets in I'm fucked. Or a BAFs get me. Which I think is happening as I'm typing so fuck.

    >I need to sit down and make a wishlist and stick to that and like you set general

That's what I do and it helps me a lot. Because I regularly go through it and prune my wishlist until I get things that I know will most likely be my favourites. Although I go a bit nuts re adding things I removed and deleting them again sometimes.

Roughly planning shelves in advance helps cause I'm less likely to box it or sell it. Finding some sort of theme especially mixing lines for a display is really fun for me. (Like I'm getting an Atom to go with a ML Acroyear if ever make him as random. And a shelf for magic users/fantasy charaters/sword characters sorcery characters can go on so WW can go with He-man, etc)
    >>
Out of everything we’ve seen what are (You) buying

I’ve got no interest whatsoever in absolute dog shit.

So far I’m in for the mongul wave and all in Batman and Flash. I would get Stewart but after lanterns that’s not happening.
    >>
    >>11924746
*if they ever make him as a random example.

Also I hope they do Adam West or 60s cartoon Batman to go with Jada Scooby Doo. Warlord for heman etc etc. I'm so excited we finally have smaller DC toys so now.

Defense wins championships son. I'd watch an early morning news program with Suh and Lynch as hosts, maybe have Aaron Rogers do weather or op ed pieces.
I got my Harley today, anyone else get her or has everyone just stopped buying DCMV altogether? After the vault releases of Cyborg Superman and Power Girl I may be done and that's kinda sad in a way. First Motu closed up their vintage focused Origins figures and now the DC License is expiring for McFarlane Toys.

I have Cyborg Superman and three Power Girls as my last DC preorders so far. Absolute Superman would be cool but I'm not going to pay Chinese smugglers if he's an instant sell-out. I realized I don't really need the Collector's Edition Mr. Freeze since most of my DC stuff is just going into storage until I think of a theme to cycle them out and I have a pretty firm no Bat movies rule, but it was Arnie and I like Arnie more than Batman.
It's bittersweet. It'd be cool to see it keep going but it's also fun having followed a complete line from beginning to end and having figures I didn't get to spend much time with that end up back on the shelf.
Plus I might go back and fill out some teams like the JSA. I have a feeling that Grundy and GL pack is going to go for pretty cheap in the long run. Guys like Jay Garrick will show up on ebay for cheap when figure-of-the-week impulse buyers get a new version from Mattel.
I have the important ones that I absolutely need and now I get to rummage at antique shops for stuff that turns up and slowly open figures I've been keeping mint, like tonight I set Selina free.
