40k is way better than nft's and shitcoins. Bitcoin is still pretty much the only coin that actually did well over time, most people lost money on all that.

Painting is creative. It gets you off the computer and doing something with your hands. Tons of health benefits to slowing down and doing something creative, in this digital age.
40k is social, it gets you out of the house and meeting people in your city.
It's a physical object, so you can always display them in your home or give them as gifts or whatever you want.
They retain some amount of resell value, you can always sell stuff you messed up or change factions or whatever reason.

Come on, let's have a little perspective. 40k is much better than a lot of hobbies and it's also much better use of money compared to lots of common things people do. There are people who "go out drinking" and that's their weekend activity, and they spend hundreds on shit that just harms your body and may even cause you to make bad decisions and only lasts a few minutes. And let's not forget mindless phone games, that have no gameplay and ask for microtransactions constantly. A lot of normie "hobbies" are pretty shit once you actually stop and think. And they'll look down on nerdy stuff at the same time.

Active hobbies like biking or hiking or martial arts or weightlifting will always be the best, since they combine fitness and can include social elements and can be free/cheap, but tabletop gaming in general is pretty solid overall. As long as you have something else to exercise.

You don't except for a few things
    >Imperial Armies (Marines, Guard, Sisters, Custodes, AdMech, and Knights) can all take units from the Imperial Agents codex, up to a certain amount depending on the game size
    >The same is true for Knights in other Imperial armies (Including Agents)

    >Eldar/Dark Eldar have a soup thing called Ynnari that lets you take some units from both armies, but it's pretty shit in tabletop form
    >A few armies have Detachments that let them take units from other armies (ie: Knights have one that let them take AdMech stuff, Chaos Knights let them take Cultists from CSM, there's a Genestealers one that let them take Tyranid units, and so on)

Those are the only ways you can combine multiple armies together in 11th right now.

Fine. But still, "live" with a mortal family? Marines' lives are supposed to be only war! They kill, re-embark, train en route to the next battle and repeat.
There's no "going home" or "vacations". Technically they aren't even getting paid.

    The Nine Traitor Legions

The core of the Chaos Space Marines comes from the nine original legions that turned traitor:
    • Dedicated Cult Legions (Bound to a specific Chaos God):
    • World Eaters: Dedicated to Khorne (the God of Blood and War); masters of brutal close-quarters combat.
    • Death Guard: Dedicated to Nurgle (the God of Decay and Disease); hyper-resilient, plague-ridden warriors.
    • Thousand Sons: Dedicated to Tzeentch (the God of Sorcery and Change); heavily reliant on psychic mutation and warp sorcery.
    • Emperor’s Children: Dedicated to Slaanesh (the God of Excess and Sensation); driven by extreme sensory overload and perfectionism.
    • Chaos Undivided (Serving all four gods or independent ambition):
    • Black Legion: Formerly the Sons of Horus, now led by Abaddon the Despoiler.
    • Iron Warriors: Masters of brutal siege warfare and heavy machinery.
    • Night Lords: Terror-tactics specialists who weaponize fear.
    • Word Bearers: Zealoted religious fanatics who actively preach and spread worship of the Dark Gods.
    • Alpha Legion: Covert operatives focused on subversion, infiltration, and misdirection.

    >google AI is your friend
No it isn't. It is repeating Reddit/wikia results which are mostly repeated fanfictions from the unfun game of telephone we call Warhammer 40k lore.
I know trolls put fake lore into Warhammer 40k wikis. Some just for trolling. Others so their headcanon will be accidentally (because GW intern was tired or pressed for time) treated as canon thus becoming canon I think.
    >>
    >>98905615
Correct except that there are some explicit Night Lord, Iron Warrior and Red Corsairs models
You have to buy upgrade sprues or 3rd party generally, same as loyalist chapters if they want to be more than "green Ultramarines"
The difference between Black Legion Legionaries and Iron Warriors Legionaries is a paintjob, same as Ultramarine Intercessors vs. Salamanders.
    >>
    >>98905615
Black legion is the ultramarines equivalent for marketting and it's because
    >veterans of heresy and new renegades alike

    >>
    >>98905648
That's very true, I'm just confused about the concept of marines having free time. A person has a life outside of their job, but marines aren't really normal people. Closer to functional psychopaths who want death to the emperor's foes.

    >>98905662

Got my first set of contrast paints. Ended up getting the SP Speedpaint start set and a few choice Vallejo xpress colors. The Speedpaints were pretty straight forward to use, they behaved pretty predictably and the speedpaint medium is ok when using it with regular acrylics.
The Vallejo xpress colors were a little more difficult to work with, it has a little more body which is nice, dries slower, but at the same time you I found I had to be very fast with the application and wicking off any extra, or else it looks bad. Plays fine with the ap speedpaint medium. Going to get the Vallejo medium and see how that one works.

Still am not set on a color scheme for the nids. Test model solved nothing. Testing Drumond Smartstrip (a commercial grade "eco" paint striper) on it right now.

they did in the past, basically caused a civil war inside of the iron hands ( Gaudinian Heresy) basically a bunch of IH along with the former chapter master fell to slaanesh.

Under our current chapter Master kardan stronos he has tried to steer iron hands to accepting a healthy balance between man and machine ( also has been re-elected to chapter master for 300 years running even after resigning one time)

Marines actually spend a fair amount of time on "hobbies" depending on their culture, no one is forcing them to do anything really, the chapter masters are in charge. Blood Angels of course have their fine arts habit, Iron Hands and Sallies like forging, Space Wolves get sloshed and probably play beer pong, black templars likely spend a fair amount of time doing religious study and I'd bet several raven guards have shitty garage bands going. Sure they're generally autistic about war but it's not like the high lords are breathing down their neck about reaching a certain quota of fighting-hours or something. We just rarely see them do these hobbies "on screen" because that's not what draws anyone into the setting.

    >>98905565
They don’t “live” with them per se. they visit briefly when on downtime between campaigns if they’re lucky enough to have it. Strike cruiser swings by the homeworld for a few days to restock supplies and collect replacement marines/transferees. Might as well send the marines onboard home for a day or so to say hi, then it’s back to the endless slaughter. I did much the same with /mydudes/. Once a year they’d return it the homeworld and meet up with the other companies. It’s a planetary festival. They get 48hrs to do what they want. Veterans tend to stay apart and focus on religious reading or coordinate with the government. Regular brothers though get to go visit the family they came from. Because of the strain of things after the great rift they’ve changed it to 5 year intervals.

to me that is another downside with how with firstborns you were able to stage campaigns in those millenia with maybe the exception of tyranid and tau(and even then its argueable depending on exact millenium), but in current setting you are pretty much forced indomitus crusade and forward and giving the dogshit writers access to "recontextualize and explain" pretty much everything inbetween heresy and war of the beast.

Huh? But they are the chapter that famously chains their weapons to their vambraces, as if saying "my every waking hour is war".
I always saw IH and Sally forging as maintaining and upgrading their own gear, which freed the Techmarines' time so they could do research and create greater tech instead of being bogged down with routine maintenance.

    >We just rarely see them do these hobbies "on screen" because that's not what draws anyone into the setting.
My marines' serfs have lots of palace intrigue and state-building, but I'm not sure what the marines themselves would be doing. The closes to "rest" they get seems to be working security for pilgrims.

That's good to hear, I like vallejo's paints but I notice they tend to feel a little gummy. >>
    >>98905923
    >>98905929

Oh yeah here's how I found the best way to use it (pretty much what the instructions say). Whatever it is you're stripping, wet it down well with water, any excess just shake off, wipe away, or let it drip off off, but it should still be damp. Spread the stripper with your brush/tool. Should be on there everywhere thick. Then you have to let cover the object/area with some plastic or put the object in a tub or something where it won't dry out. This is important, you don't want that stuff drying out. For minis it looks like it really only needs 30minutes to work. In real world applications it can peel up a bunch of paint in couple hours. It's decent. Clean up with brush and water.
You'll need to clean the minis with soapy water or isopropyl before priming.

No, full on codex chapters have around 8 or so unique datasheets added to the regular range. Let's use EC as an example. They get their own codex with fulgrim, lucius, a generic marine lord or daemon prince with slaanesh statlineds and abilties, a generic greater demon datasheet, named greater demon datasheet and lesser demon data sheets, flawless blades and noise marines. That's only 8 unique datasheets but plenty enough to make your army full on slaanesh, plus you get access to all the csm datasheets you want instead of just the ones that GW cares enough to reprint into your codex.

    >>

Finecast was a thing because GW wanted to phase out metal without getting rid of the molds. Problem was the quality control.

You could always tell early fine cast formula with later stuff when they dropped the name entirely and fixed their resin formula.
But I won't lie, I do like a lot of the resin aged miniatures that came out, once they had the good formula of course.

Because there was an autistic french guy who designed them for minimum wage based on his personal converted army which is why nurgle gets vehicles like the poop tank and the shartacopter and two kinds of terminators and plague marines are basically a tactical squad with their snot blaster guy and guys with icons and guns and swords and a ton of hero characters to buff your dudes.

The other armies got phoned in. EC technically got it 'better' since they don't reuse stuff from other lines like tranny sons and actually got cool stuff instead of cultists like khorne. But still sucked.
