>>98893383I sort of do something similar. I enjoy making characters, but having a character that's able to do more than stand on their own and reasonably take out the rest of the roster is a guilty pleasure, even if I never actually do any real fighting against other builds. Haven't had hang ups on it however if there was a few builds it couldn't beat, it'd take an MP entirely about competitive choices to make me give up posting it.

Where are all the others? Who are they?
>>98895372Again, just because people disagree with each other doesn't mean that either of them are shitposters. Sometimes they are, but not always. Sometimes anons are just autistic and refuse to engage each other genuinely.

>>98900395>builds that are desperately trying to be the main character.Of course they try to be the main character, that's the whole point. They are all the main character. Why would anyone make a build that isn't even the main character of its own story? We have NPCs for the other roles.
>>98900433A hero's journey starts from humble beginnings. What you failed to recognize is that trying to be the main character and being the main character are two entirely different things. The former is cringe. The latter is just a description of who holds the narrative focus.
>>98900451>Humble Beginnings>I start writhing and screaming, it takes three men to restrain me while another injects me with sleepytime juice.
>>98900451The structure of most cyoas doesn't favor humble beginnings. By the sheer amount of skills and powers builds are granted, it makes more sense for them to have previous interactions with the setting and have the setting react to than, rather than being nameless strugglers who have yet to come into their roles. It's also easier for MP. It's easier to write a relationship chart entry for a build who's known and popular in their niche, It's easier to have characters seek each other within a story because of reputation, instead of struggling to think "what would my build know about this rando" or being bogged down by constant introductions.

Hopefully I found a good balance. He's learning how to care about people, he'll get better, maybe. Dealing with Laurie in particular reminds him of how his sister used to be, so one hand he's used to it, on the other he's trying really hard to not just project her on Laurie and act too familiar.>she already thinks her 30% percentage provided by Triangulum chance to explode everything with mercury is quite bad, so 70% is unacceptable for a High Mage! He's happy to try but for him that was already a pretty big imrovement. >>98895921This was a very interesting conclusion to the small arc. I liked how she handled her small trauma, and how it shows she's really unused to real combat and its consequences. The fight itself was also fun, her best attempt at cooperation clashing with Yen-ti's more individualistic and impulsive style. I'm curious if she's going to try and reconcile with Yen-ti, or if she's just going to pretend it never happened. I also found it really funny how she decided to just throw caution to the wind when sleep deprived and asked someone who to her was a dangerous criminal for help, it felt very much like a fever dream kind of thing. The ending with the statue was hopefully a good character growth moment for her, it's the second time in a week that she gets tricked and grabbed by the throat. She can't even be blamed too much for falling for it this time at least, it was more believable even if a bit supicious. Perseus is a fun guy, and his power is interesting. Lorus was very on point as far as I'm concerned. He would have been debating if it was the case to just teleport away when she first bumped into him. Imprisonement is a touchy subject for him, and he would be very mad if he knew just how ungrateful Angela was, about blow up the whole temple level of mad. He will ask about how it went, but because of his unstable sense of time it will happen when she least expects it, weeks or even months after the fact unless she brings it up first. The whole experiment was fun, the rain and the volontary explosion, if she did't hug him then he was about to attack again, after all she asked to kill it and it was clearly still alive, he assumed he did something wrong. I particularly liked the description of his dimensional magic, very whimsical.

What was his ratio of spoiling to nagging? How would Primula react to the entire situation?>He's happy to tryThat's more than enough for her! After my own piece Laurie thinks he's not so bad of a guy, so she'd try to invite him as a lab assistant in her experiments whenever he's not busy with a job.>>98902150>I'm curious if she's going to try and reconcile with Yen-ti, or if she's just going to pretend it never happened.I plan for her to try to avoid him until they're forced to team up again in another job, and then they can repair the relationship.>I also found it really funny how she decided to just throw caution to the wind when sleep deprived and asked someone who to her was a dangerous criminal for help, it felt very much like a fever dream kind of thingAsking a dangerous criminal to grow a fungus that is immortal and can potentially grow infinitely, right next to a city, mind you. She was truly at her mental limits there.>The ending with the statue was hopefully a good character growth moment for her, it's the second time in a week that she gets tricked and grabbed by the throat. Yeah this entire mini-arc was meant to be full of trickery for her, part 1 she was distracted and duped by some thieves, part 2 there was Belladonna, and part 3 was Angela. So after this she's going to be a bit more suspicious.>Lorus was very on point as far as I'm concerned.Glad I did him justice!
>>98902289>Well, how did he usually act with his sister? He was a very doting brother, and didn't really have to nag at her, mostly because she was always a well behaved child. He read her books, watched from afar as she played in the garden while he was reading, got her everything she wanted when they walked around town. It would have been very bad for her being spoiled so much, but she is smart, so that kinda made up for it. He used to pat her head, but no matter how similar Laurie is in personality, her phisical size is a pretty good reminder that he probably shouldn't, sometimes he still instinctively tries but he usually stops. She also hugged him out of nowhere, and his reaction was also the same.>How would Primula react to the entire situation? Now that's a whole can of worms. Primula is on the opposite path to Lorus, where he started calm with muted emotions she started as a normal cheerful kid and is slowly losing her emotions. Before she would have just been happy to have new friends, she always wanted a little sister, now it's a bit complicated. She's not exactly possessive, but she's very slow to trust and will feel the need to test anyone that gets close to her or Lorus. The tests will begin soon for Laurie, she's actually very close, just not ready to meet her brother again. She may leave some bags of money on the road and see how people react, pretend to be a sick or injured poor kid, lure people in dangerous situations to see how they react. Because of how Laurie is she wouldn't have any problems passing the moral dillema type of tests, but Primula would consider her too soft for the kind of life she predicts in the forseeable future. Depending on how close she appears to Lorus she would either be separated by underhanded means, or forced to grow up if it appears Lorus already cares too much. The sibilings balance each other, but they had a long time apart to start spiraling into either direction.
>>98902575>>98902289>she'd try to invite him as a lab assistant in her experiments whenever he's not busy with a job. He's a pretty good lab assistant if you specifically tell him to not put his mercury anywhere. And he has 20 years of experience with being trapped in a lab, but Laurie still doesn't know that. He's got patience at least.>Asking a dangerous criminal to grow a fungus that is immortal and can potentially grow infinitely, right next to a city, mind you. If she knew just how good he is a killing things that may even look calculated. Now a part of the desert looks like a warzone, if Lorus did't bring them back I have a feeling some kind of law enforcement would have at least investigated.>Yeah this entire mini-arc was meant to be full of trickery for herI kinda feel bad for her. But at least she's not gonna be alone next time.

>>98889185Cool writefag, it really does seem like Belladonna's losing it, and is starting to resemble more of the trope of a petty, ineffectual villain whose plans are constantly foiled (the off-screen defeat really made her resemble this trope more which is kinda funny), and is now resorting to more pitiful means of pursuing Megalo Fin, which is something I kind of intended for her from the very beginning. I thought it would be more interesting if I started producing more moments of her cool and composed self from the past between her and Megalo Fin (like her moments in Unseen Blade), to really make her appearances in your writefags stand out for a more interesting, contrastive effect, and to present her gradual descent into madness when seen from a macro perspective, but I actually have to write.

>>98895921Yo, this is a banger. The exposition at the end there with Perseus felt a bit too spoonfeedy and rushed, but still a really great read. I'm wondering how you'd plan the story going forward. So far it's been concentrated on Laurie, fair enough, since she's your character, but I wonder how the journey to find Andromeda would intertwine with the other builds and their arcs. Would that be possible or are you keeping it focused on Laurie? Either way works for me, since I'm already invested enough in Laurie on her own.
>>98902575>She's not exactly possessive, but she's very slow to trust and will feel the need to test anyone that gets close to her or Lorus. The tests will begin soon for Laurie, she's actually very close, just not ready to meet her brother againOh, that's so cute. Now I get why you were asking about the kid and the potion last thread. Well he spent most of that time trying to avoid the one potion he was supposed to make, so does it really count as experience?
>>98903976>The exposition at the end there with Perseus felt a bit too spoonfeedy and rushedThat's fair, when I was writing I thought some sort of catharsis was needed for Laurie, considering how much she suffered, and being fed some actual clues about her mother was the best way I could achieve it. But yeah I def could have made the dialogue flow smoother.>I'm wondering how you'd plan the story going forward. So far it's been concentrated on Laurie, fair enough, since she's your character, but I wonder how the journey to find Andromeda would intertwine with the other builds and their arcs. Would that be possible or are you keeping it focused on Laurie? For the current Andromeda rescue plot, it won't be a way to cross with the other builds' storylines, but instead a way to finally have Megalo Fin and Promethean Promise clash, as Andromeda will be trapped in their current base of operations. But the overall plot of finding Laurie's mom will cross with other builds' stories. My biggest plans are for Uriel, considering the dilemma of "would you help this person even if god is telling you no?" I also have plans for Lorus, since he also has a plot about finding lost family. For the rest, I'm still trying to figure something out. Anyway, glad you liked it anon!
>>98904059 Oh, I figured the main conflict between Lauriel would be Laurie constantly, and inadvertently, tempting Uriel with her obscene body. Simply being near her corrupts his soul, just a passive aura of a fertility goddess I suppose. But I guess I'm wrong on that speculation. Also, on Lorus, Belladonna's constantly on the hunt for him, so I'm guessing she's inextricably tied to his arc. Laurie reminds Lorus of his sister, if I remember right, and for all his strength, his feelings for her are his points of weakness. If Belladonna knew that, she'd go after Laurie relentlessly, knowing it would cloud his judgment. He'd start making irrational, terrible decisions and screw things up for Megalo Fin. Anyway these are some great stuff, and I'm looking forward to the rest of your writings.
>>98904116>Oh, I figured the main conflict between Lauriel would be Laurie constantly, and inadvertently, tempting Uriel with her obscene body. Simply being near her corrupts his soul, just a passive aura of a fertility goddess I suppose. But I guess I'm wrong on that speculation. No, no, you're correct! It's just that temptation is a part of the greater dilemma.>Also, on Lorus, Belladonna's constantly on the hunt for him, so I'm guessing she's inextricably tied to his arc. Laurie reminds Lorus of his sister, if I remember right, and for all his strength, his feelings for her are his points of weakness. If Belladonna knew that, she'd go after Laurie relentlessly, knowing it would cloud his judgment. And that gives Laurie more chances to interact with Belladonna and sway her over to the light side. Also, since Lorus' sister is actually close by and watching him, Belladonna could eventually discover her too, and Lorus might be forced to save both, or choose one over the other. It's some good drama.
>>98904053>The imagery of Laurie passing all these secret tests without even knowing what's going on is pretty funny, I might include some of them myself in my future writingShe's simultaneously the worst and best target for them. The fact that she's good natured enough to keep passing them, but also keeps falling for them, would be very frustrating for Primula. It's cool to see that you're on board with that, I feel like the ones you include would be more accurate, but I will do my best to do Laurie justice too.> so does it really count as experience? He's used to the enviroment, the cramped lab space surrounded by ingredients and notes. He had to look busy from the outside at least, so he knows how to go through the motions very well, he's a good fake alchemist, he did have to fool the normal place alchemists after all. But most of the time he was actually training combat applications, buffs, curses, and the dimension cloak. He's like an actor that is now being asked to do his role for real.

>>98905367>I really just don't know what I'm supposed to do with posting a build here. We play the cyoas multiplayer, so we consider all that all builds coexist in the universe of the cyoa. From there, we discuss how they would interact with each other and change the setting based on those encounters. Most of the time, people detail these encounters and interactions in written stories, aka writefags.>what's even a faceclaim?People attach images to a build so anons have an idea of their appearance. Since most people here can't draw, they usually take characters from anime or vidya.>I can come up with a backstory if neededYeah you probably should. A personality section too.
>>98905367lollmao
>>98905367We make builds and discuss interactions. Now, anons can't read minds, so if you want your build to be taken seriously it should have enough information in it to know how it acts as a character. To that end usually we have personality and backstory sections. To help visualize the build we use faceclaims, images of characters to give an appearance to the character you made. Mostly from around the interenet, but we do have like 2-3 anons with the ability to draw who make their own. If it all gets too long for 4chan character limits we put stuff in a rentry, the org version is better. From there it's interactions in thread, answering prompts, discssing what your character would do, and sometimes writing short stories about it. You can see several examples of those in the thread. Now, the real problem here is that MHA is not actually alive and is more of a meme around here. It would take a miracle for it to revive by now.
>>98905210too late at night to write properly, so here's the gist of it:Ryo (is that a real name? sounds like something from street fighter) was born with his left leg missing. that really sucks. using the power of having spite a suspiciously convenient quirk, he decides that he's not only going to grow himself a leg, but also use bioengineering to make natural heroes look like chumps.using his enhanced willpower and mind to work his ass off in school and then university, he became a researcher at a biotechnology company with the goal of getting to a position where he can start diverting funds into his own project because no one actually understands his research (yay for intelligence enhancement quirks).as he gets closer to achieving his goal, he realizes that he has no plans for what to do after the one thing he dedicated his whole life to with inhuman willpower and he's actually getting a bit sick of research and science and convincing people that all of the money really does go to a good cause.>personality:always distracted and absentmindedstarting to develop a melancholic tendency that appears when discussing the futuretrying to start being more considerate of others but doesn't really know what he's doing so he often messes it upprone to starting new things to try and find a new purposestill months/years away from his goal
>>98905474ah rip. well, I mainly made it because I ran out of things to do so it's not a total losswhy is is still being posted then, btw?
>>98905504A few people can't let go of it, but they also can't produce for it. The result is a ritualpost.
>>98905514it is what it is. at least I had fun
>>98905523You can always join one of the other mp cyoas.
>>98905527What if we just did a new MHA run instead?
>>98905547You can try, but I will advise you not to. Because of the ritualposting by the minority who can't let go, the majority of people here have developed a deep hatred or apathy for MHA. You won't find a lot of players for multiplayer.
>>98905554maybe if there was some massive rule difference from the previous one I guess, but I agree that it probably wouldn't work
>>98905504>why is is still being posted then, btw?Routine, and a little bit of shitposting. It's not just one guy, unlike what many would tell you, but even the ones who do post it probably gave up.>>98905547MHA has been too poisoned by the shitposting about the old run for a new one to start. We would need a way longer period of it not being mentioned for people to want to try. Right now I have a feeling taht even it it does get builds most will be reposts.
W gimmick but gave it away by using the word "run"
>>98905592That was a different guy, it had a different post style. Someone jumped on the bandwagon to try and push a new run.
>>98905133we must kill uriel emmanuel
>>98905133Who's that pale lil guy at the end supposed to be?
>>98905607Nice try, Belladykena
>>98905607It's not the first time someone said they hate him. Since he appears to be a dump you could get away with it, but you would need to write to make it happen.
>>98905613I'm pretty sure that's supposed to be a real ghost. Or the spirit that was enchanting the cloak, because I think enchantement can do that.
>>98905623You mean I could kill another anon's build... just by writing?! I didn't know it was that easy...
>>98905547lol kys
>>98905620We don't need another episode of randomly declaring a character yuri.
>>98905637Only if that build is a dump. If the anon is still active he can just say it didn't happen.
>>98905643broke: saying it didn't happenwoke: saying it did happen but then the build willed themself back to lifebespoke: since when were you under the impression that your build wasn't under my kyoka suigetsu?
>>98905637In this case I guess it would need to be some good writing since he's already part of the narrative.
The Promethean Promise builds are more deserving of being fodderized and eradicated ngl
>>98905660with the sole exception of sebastian stone, of course
wish we could get more FT builds
>>98905663That's because his humiliation ritual needs to be far more elaborate
>>98905660If we go by activity, Stone was very active at the start and even made a chart then disappeared. All the other builds in that guild also were at least a bit acive and answered some prompts. Uriel just dumped and disappeared. So the dark guild is overall more active than him.But that's different from narrative weight.
>>98905672Builds are kinda useless without active anons behind them. It would be nice to get some of those but we don't have many in general.
>>98905554>>98905582If you're not interested in playing a cyoa that's fine, but these meta reasons you've convinced yourself of to not try things are so gay. You've created a prison in your own mind.
>>98905677It's less activity or narrative and moreso I just don't like 'em
>>98905699Why don't you like them?
>>98905706They're ugly mostly
>>98905699Well, if we go by personal opinion I don't like Uriel more, but that doesn't mean I'm going to actively write him out of the MP just because of that.
>>98905715Uriel's not ugly tho
>>98905723Uglyness is not high on my list of things to determine if I like a build or not. The fact that he's a trap takes away a lot of points.
>>98905723Is your metric to decide how much you like a build based on how much you want to fuck them?
>>98905738He's not a trap, he's just a twink
>>98905743yes don't we all do that...?
>>98905706NTA but all of them kinda have annoying or boring personalities and even though they're villains they also have uninteresting magics to write about
anyone interested in reviving harry potter?
>>98906782fuck no hahahhahaa
>>98905643Which builds are killable?
>>98906900all SC builds
>>98904210>Spirit Conscript: you're the strongestYou're barely a fragment of the power of the guy teaching you and the guy teching you is a chump on the powerscale.
this place is so beyond deadmaybe this should be the last thread
