>>98869667I know this prompt had been done to death but what would your character be like if they were in a fighting game? Very important for this thing I'm cooking up.
>>98871157In a 2D fighter, Helena's a big body with cinematic command grabs and specials, she has Terry's fireball (Power Wave) too. And a fullscreen tremor like Cooler from Fighterz. In an arena fighter like Ninja Storm, she has an Almighty Push shockwave like Pain and a giant awaken.

>>98871219The CHARACTERS you retard
>>98871224the characters are pretty damn awful and extremely generic and simple so...
>>98871195Let me explain the main points then.>there's a dungeon with a city built around it>the gods from all the pantheons come to earth for entertainment>they give adventurers powers that grow as they accumulate experience>they form guilds called familias>the gods compete against each other, but aren't allowed to use their divine powers so they use their adventurer guilds instead>the dungeon has lots of floors with different terrains>there are respawning monsters and boss monsters>adventurers are generally all level 1 or 2, with higher levels being significantly rarer>adventurers level up by accumulating a lot of experience then performing some exceptional feat that pushes their limits and risks their lifeThe rest is explained in the cyoa itself.
wait what happened with platinum age?

>>98871787And you shouldn't believe it either!
>>98871787it's already ruined by the people who want infinity pointstheir characters will be able to do everything, and as a consequence, they will do nothing
>>98871802The voting proved it, people want overpowered, that's it. If you don't like it don't join.
>>98871317It just died out of nowhere, like many things seem to do lately.
>>98871848cuz dark city was posted
>>98871887Not how it works. The anons playing PA had no interest in Dark City, it's the whole reason why it started in the first place, for the anons not part of PA. It's a completely different genre.
>>98871157Laurie would be a setplay character. She tosses potions into the air while the enemy is knocked down and then does her mixups. With her celestial spirits she would also have a built in assist mechanic for extending combos or further mixups, think like rainbow mika calling nadeshiko. In some of her normals and command normals she would hit people with miscellaneous items from her lab, for example in her heavy punch she would swing her pouch at them, and for an overhead she would pull out the long ass spoon she uses for her cauldron and bonk them with it.
>>98871991>against MP tribalism Get your 2023 ass out of here, this is 2026 mcyoagAny MP being started is due to ADHDfags actively trying to kill my MPYes we're going to ignore me kinda implying that anons would only play it if it was their only option

>>98871991This thread can three active games without crashing out. Unless you feel envious that other CYOA have more players or something I don't really see why you must hate on xyz cyoa.
>>98871844>the spamming and falseflagging by desperate anons proved itUh huh.
>>98872343Insisting so much that people don't want overpowered seems much more desperate to me.
>>98872379>no u I get that you want overpowered, but really man? Really?
>>98871787It's not actually the hunter's guild run. It was scrapped because nobody wanted to be stuck in the same conscription, so now it's the city under siege and all conscriptions are still open.>>98871802>>98872343We already did normal SC twice. Let the overpowered guys have a run.
>>98872405I don't know man. Nobody is saying that people don't want the normal rules, but somehow everyone in support of overpowered is spamming and falseflagging? One side seems much more desperate to not only win, but pretend the other side doesn't even exist. It doesn't look good for the normal run side when you do that.
>>98869661Looks like Overpowered edged out. I'm not sure what I'll do with my character but I can work with this. Most likely it'll mean that the PCs are the big movers and shakers in the city below people like the Trigram and upper echelons of Spirits, but still. Fortunately the Chimerae can be as dangerous as we want since they've been growing exponentially more complex for centuries at least.I'll need to finish writing up a brief intro concept and post the game later, but I have to go do my morning routine first. Catch you in a few hours anons.
Someone remind me, in SC can you put weapon traits on premade weapons without Heavenly Instrument?
>>98872612No, since you usually only use Traits on Ancient weapons or below that you buy seperately.
>>98872612is this a single player question?
>>98872444Personally I am fine with overpowered as long as the power level of the average shmuck is raised
>>98872639No? I need it for my character since we are preparing an SC run. I want to know if my funny weapon idea works or if I have to go a different route.
>>98872648Nta but as far as I understand with the city under assault out characters would be part of the elites supposed to stop it. Which means that characters around us would be also elite. So we should already have Elite Shmucks instead of normal ones. And the chimeras can already be strong.
>>98872648If you add 10 to your power and 10 to everyone else's power isnt that just the same thing? Youre not actually comparatively more powerful in the setting.
the only reason spirit conscript is being pushed is because one anon is trying to weaponize the the autists to kill fairy tail
the only reason fairy tail is being pushed is because one anon is trying to weaponize the the autists to kill harry potter
>>98872671As the guy setting it up I am also playing Fairy Tail if that matters, but I understand the suspicion.
>MPs are being "pushed to kill other MPs"This is not a happy place.
>>98872663It's not like people choose OP to be more powerful than the average schmuck your already more powerful then an average schmuck by a ton as they only have 1 aura and that's only the aura users who make up a small percentage of the pop. The main reason to pick OP is to enable a wider variety of builds.
>>98872714The only reason to add more points is to be more powerful. You're not fooling anyone.
>>98872663>Youre not actually comparatively more powerful in the setting. That's not really the point? Nobody ever said that they wanted overpowered to be even stronger compared to the setting. One guy said that our characters don't matter in the grand scheme of things, and so he wanted to set the MP far from the main factions, but even overpowered doesn't change that, it was about relative location.
>>98872720That's why you need to buff everyone even the shmucks so everyone feels more powerful
>>98872714It's pretty clear he just wants to stir shit up at this point.
>>98872714>>98872723Well, have at then. Hope it makes the difference you're aiming for. >>98872735>>98872720This is not me.

>>98872743fight on, helena anon!
>>98872648The average smuck can't even use aura and most aura users have a aura capacity smaller than 10 pipsWe can make them have the pool of a challenged build and capped to g1 instead if you want
>>98872779Meant shallow, challenged can still have vast reserves
>>98872779Yeah something like that, because it just makes the regular schmuck useless otherwise what do they even do with 1 aura?
>>98872794cast cloudy spirit hand and start stroking it
>>98872794There are probably weaker techniques that only cost that much to useThe ones in the cyoa are just the ones Kofuko felt were worth teaching us
>>98872784>>98872794Hold up, make it 10 instead 20 is still enough on the weaker end of elite tier
>>98872823yeah but how do you even gauge that we have no point of reference of what lower powers do? so it would all be a ton of headcanoning , easier to give them at least a tangible power level.
If I made a build around someone mastering a basic technique to the point of it being their ridiculous signature technique, would anons play along? Or would the build just job to any build that invested more into high tiers?
>>98872868That's literally just Signature Technique. I don't see whats wrong with that.
>>98872868It probably would depend on the technique, but I don't see why anons would have a problem with it in most cases.
>>98872868It's a legal action but yes you will job to bigger guns.
>>98872901Signiature does raise it by one step, so he shouldn't.
>>98872868Make Pace Reversal your only technique and spend all of your points making it stronger.Just have total and absolute control over your personal gravity, able to fall in any direction at relativistic speeds.
>it's another signature/special technique wank run
>>98872908True but there's like 4 levels of techniques. Bumping to level 2 protects from some but not all.
>>98872919That's just the alteration. Not sure what you really expect. I think we only had 3 people out of the entire roster last time who even used it as a main focus.
>>98872919It's funny because special/signature spam is actually my build concept for this run too and I haven't made one before (my first build was signature but said signature got no respect tho)Oh wellAlso looking through the cyoa its weird that special + signature can be best taken by Talented when you think they'd be a Practiced and Conditioned trademark
>>98872921>>98872931I think last run that part was ignored? The discussion was more about special changing things around. I don't remember seeing anyone mentioning that it goes up 1 tier. But I also only skimmed those posts because they felt a bit pointless. Not having any reference for what a Legend+ tech looks like also doesn't help.
>>98872966I mean it was only ignored because the techniques never had an opportunity to be used. Doesnt even matter that they were Signature or not. It's like Eon Convulsion, timestops are cool but are you going to use it in every single interaction?
>>98872966Tiers don't only matter for firepower you mostly buy basic techniques for hax who ignore tiers.
>>98872868You could increase the devotion amount to match the higher tiers if you're worried about it keeping up. I think people did that before without it being a problem.
>>98872962>(my first build was signature but said signature got no respect tho)You made me go back to check, we actually had a lot of Signiature/Special techniques in the first run that were never aknowledged. Or at least they didn't attract the same kind of attention as last run, where every single one was put under heavy scrutiny. In the first run nobody noticed if you got one.>Also looking through the cyoa its weird that special + signature can be best taken by Talented when you think they'd be a Practiced and Conditioned trademarkDoesn't matter this run because we are doing overpowered. But I don't see why they should be locked to those origins, you can just be naturally good at that specific tech just like you are naturally good at things in general ith talented. Or maybe that one technique just comes out differently for you on an instinctual level instead of studying the original and modifying it.
SC technique tier list>god tierstops you from being touched and instantly obliterated>high tiertouch something and instantly kill them>mid tiersynergizes well with "touch something and instantly kill them" and "stops you from being touched">low tierdoes practically nothingWHOOOOOO'S UP FOR SOME ROCKET TAG!!!!????
>>98873044>Or at least they didn't attract the same kind of attention as last run, where every single one was put under heavy scrutiny. To be fair, I think it's because the first build last run set a ridiculous precedent by talking special/signiature to create borderline omnipotence, which caused everyone to hyperfocus on that alteration to make sure it didn't happen again.
>>98873044>But I don't see why they should be locked to those origins, you can just be naturally good at that specific tech just like you are naturally good at things in general ith talented. It's just a vibes thing IMO All BAs can be either or but Special and Signature just seem very HARD WORK to me you know? All the Technique related BAs do. Meanwhile something like Limitless Meridians is very hard Talented and Mutated coded to me.
>>98872962Practiced and Conditioned just kinda stink desu
>>98873074>yessssss 12 EP holy fuark this is just what my build neededt. no one fucking ever
>>98873073>It's just a vibes thing IMOI don't get that honestly. I get what you mean, but I don't get the same vibes from them. They all seem like they can be obtained in different ways. And who's to say that even the conditioned/practiced can't be handed something by the genetic lottery once in a while? Or who's to say the talented can't also work hard to earn something? To me they all have the same vibes of "they could be anyone".
>>98873095I used it once
>>98873128I remember people making builds for those as well. But I think most of them straight up said they were doing it for the challenge. Nta.
>>98873128sure you CAN do it but when you can make up 75% of the value by choosing to be a terrorist (like 50% of the builds) it's a lot less special
>>98872914I'm pretty sure another Phase techique already does that.
>>98873059That does tend to happen when everyone has access to the biggest guns in quantity. They like to use them, and they end fights quick.
>>98873145>choosing to be a terrorist (like 50% of the builds)When did that happen? I don't remember the 50% Insurgent/Warlord run? A lot of criminals yes, but I assume you don't mean those because they don't give that many points.
>>98873172Didn't last run have the only main build factions who did anything be Overjannies and Chudsmith-chan's WarbandAnyway point is its not very hard to justify Warsmith or Insurgent, even if 50% is an exaggeration
>>98873183Last run did have those 2 groups, but there were only 2 warlords in the whole group, and no insurgents. The big boss had that, and the femboy maid for some reason? The rest all had different conscriptions, with one not even having one. There were other warlords but they were separate, 3 warlords, and 3 insurgents also all individual. And one guy ignored by all who had both. There are a couple but not all in the same place, and nowhere near 50% of the builds, more like 25%.>Anyway point is its not very hard to justify Warsmith or Insurgent, even if 50% is an exaggerationOn one hand your point is bad, because it is hard to justify either of those unless you want to go for a specific thing.Warlord locks you into being the head of a faction. Insurgent instead locks you out of ever being part of a group because they are all independent. On the other hand you're right but for a different reason. Overtime is a very popular MA, and it gives the points of 2 conscriptions, so even if you can't justify being a warlord or insurgent you can justify being an overseer/bodyguard or something like that and get even more points.
>>98873236>Warlord locks you into being the head of a faction. Insurgent instead locks you out of ever being part of a group because they are all independent.Plain wrong on Warsmith. You don't need to be a faction head at all. Also when has that ever mattered for interaction or teaming up lol
>>98873251>Also when has that ever mattered for interaction or teaming up lolNta. It should, the fact that anons tend to ignore parts of builds when convenient doesn't mean those parts should have no effect normally. A warlord is the "lord" of an army. And insurgents are said to work in a chaotic disorganized manner.

>>98873273Damn, you call this barebones? Anyway, my build was delayed by IRL matters but will be ready soon. I like the scenario, even if it's a bit more bleak than expected, the fact we are given a moment of relative peace at least is nice.
You think people are going to bring back their old builds for a 3rd time?
>>98873346The 2 anons who cared the most about bringing the build back already said that last run was the last time and that any new attempt would get a new build. That and the changed rules makes me think we shouldn't, but you never know.
>>98873325We have a tendency to delay plot progression if things aren't already happening so in the Not!Dragon Age plot post-Ostagar seemed like the best place to start, it already gives some motivation. Things aren't just happening but have happened and most characters have probably lost friends, coworkers or acquaintances already.

It's funny that RAW you can be a Legendary Martial Arts Master but still have Klutz since it only bans release techniques and I want to use that concept for my build as a coach for their summons but since I couldn't buy techiques it would turn out too cringe and wanky.
>>98873542>too cringe and wankyDo you realize where we are?
>>98873273I'm remembering now how little these techniques inspire me.
>>98873547It's the wank part I'm worried about. Saying my summons could use x martial art style without paying for it just feels wrong, even if its only great.

>>98873574>infiniteIt's finite.
>>98873870That's how it works yes. Those drawbcaks give a justification for stuff to happen. Otherwise it has no reason to.
>>98873273I haven't played this cyoa before so I didn't understand a single shit in any of the discussions you've had recently. I'm also not interested in powerwanking. Convince me why I'm supposed to be hyped about this.
>>98873365>Not!Dragon Age plot post-OstagarI have no idea what that means. Anything I should know? Specifically something that would affect our version of it?
>>98873949You aren't. Anons just have FOMO becaue they didn't participate in the /cyoag/ mp and they don't want to miss out.
>>98873949It's slop so I can't
>>98873949>Convince me why I'm supposed to be hyped about this. That's the worst possible thing to do. Nobody has anything to gain from it, if you don't like it don't join, if you like it join. You should come to the conclusion yourself, otherwise it will just create half-hearted interest from second-hand information and you will just dump a build and leave. Forcing hype is a horrible move.>I'm also not interested in powerwanking.Neither am I, there is more to the MP than that.
>>98873950Nothing particularly complex, in Dragon Age the primary corruptive evil force, the Darkspawn, are built up to be a large but manageable enemy. The forces the player is aligned with gather an army to face them in a very 'drive back the darkness,' Lord of the Rings style battle. The twist being for various reasons is the battle goes horribly wrong, the entire army that turns up to the battle dies and the Darkspawn rip their way uncontested into the unprotected lands beyond. It's the player's job to build a second army over the course of the game (facing political intrigue, betrayal and other threats unrelated to the Darkspawn that are thriving in the chaos) while they're actively destroying their section of the map. That's the vibe I'm going for. Not beat-for-beat or anything, it was just an easy shorthand to explain to whoever's played the game.
>>98873974>>98873976>>98873979>It's 50 pages longIght I'm gonna peace out of this one. Later nerds!
>>98873974>>98873976See, this is why you shouldn't ask others why you should like something.
Nobody who asks "why should I join this thing?" like that actually wants to join. It's just a time wasting tactic.
>>98873981In terms of the game we're playing, the vibe is equally relatively simple and open, but with a motivating factor to keep the plot going and characters direction. The timeline is;>Chimera become a problem>Beast Hunters go in to stop them>Beast Hunters are nearly wiped out>Chimera invade the Border Wilds>Dynasties send their best Aura-Masters to stop them>Aura-Masters are ambushed by strange, horrifically powerful Chimerae and start dying>Counterattack retreats>Chimerae take over Limbo and the Tribelands>Chimerae are preparing for a renewed attackOutside of this, there's all sorts of political intrigue delaying a unified response. Some characters are taking advantage of the chaos to kill hated rivals, acquire domains of power, or otherwise squabbling over personal interests, delaying a proper response. Other threats to Youdu, though less prevalent, are probably also taking advantage and striking where possible.tl;dr, Youdu is powerful enough united to stop the Chimerae, but is so fragmented and self-opposed that they're currently losing ground.
>>98873490>>98873497>>98873498But I want my guy to be crazy and piss everyone off for no apparent reason. It's fun.
>>98873985Its not actually that long, half the techniques are just altered flavors of each other
>>98874031That's... an inteesting take on the cyoa I guess...Even assuming you're right, how is a new reader supposed to predict which techniques are reflavours so he can read faster?
>>98873981>The twist being for various reasons is the battle goes horribly wrong, the entire army that turns up to the battle dies and the Darkspawn rip their way uncontested into the unprotected lands beyond. It's the player's job to build a second army over the course of the gameWhy does anyone trust the guy who led the first gigantic military failure(possible saboteur)?
>>98874118In Dragon Age? He's a renowned war hero that people already like and actively lies about what happened/shifts the blame, which earns him no small number of followers. It catches up with him, but the months that he's causing a fuss are almost enough to lose entirely. It's not entirely important to our game but it's an interesting view into how personal ambitions, biases and the like can cloud an event when few are left alive to tell the tale.
>>98874050Most of them are the various elemental things, there's not a lot of meaningful difference between fire beam and ice beam or whatever. So an overwhelmed anon could easily gloss over those and lose very little.

See, normally if you go one on one with another BEAST, you got a 50/50 chance of winning. But I'm a genetic freak and I'm not normal! So you got a 25%, AT BEST, at beat me. Then you add some other pansy losers to the mix, your chances of winning drastic go down. >>98874616>seems like we want a more armored lookin cast this time than just streetclothes of previous runs?Considering how the powers work not really. Armor tends to be more of a gimmick since techniques kinda substitute the need for defense. Core becomes harder than any armor, Phase dodges so armor is either uselsess of an active hindrance, Flow either attacks from range or becomes elements ( and has plenty of defensive thechniques besides), and Alchemy generally shouldn't be in the front lines but even then they should have contingencies. And there are also alternatives avaliable to all. Armor doesn't look like a sign of a warrior, if anything it looks like a crutch for those who can't afford better stuff.

>>98874889>ConceptAt the waning of the Treta Yuga, the power of the Spirits had begun to ebb, millennia of debauchery and tyranny over mortalkind was snuffed out with the release of the Wheel-Turning Effigy. The Kings of Heaven, Hell and the City Between took to their slumber, gathering strength for the Kali Yuga that would come in a mere thousand generations or so.Not all had forgotten their patronage, however. For every thousand mortals who were broken upon the lash or sacrificed in elaborate rituals, one would be lavished upon as favoured servants. The Yokai known only as The Herald of Yama is one such figure, exalting in the King of Hell's twisted blessings in a manner considered heretical by the Lunar Temple and Exorcists.Sustained by the tiniest fragment of his god's blessings, he is ancient, powerful and utterly devoted to his lord's teachings. Vice and sin flow from his lips as eloquent mantras to enlightenment through sensation - both pleasure and pain. Far from some drug-addled hedonist, The Herald's most dangerous qualities are his extreme composure, brilliant wit and silver tongue for one so debased. He offers more than simple pleasures, instead wholeheartedly offering clients of his illegal business their deepest desire - be it revenge, greed or even peace - for he believes it is through chasing one's heart that true enlightenment is found. The troubles with the Chimerae have all but broken The City Between's tenuous balance; the Path of Yama has rapidly expanded its holdings and followers by indoctrinating the desperate and encroaching on those who feel abandoned by the Spirits. They hide behind a shield of charity, offering a great deal of both public and underhanded assistance to the war effort wherever possible - Yama is the lord of Chaos, not total destruction, and it would not do for his City to fall now.
>>98874894>Yama's Revealing EyeUnlike the Demon's Possession Eye, which condemns those it looks upon to an echo of Hell, Yama's Revealing Eye instead pierces the soul in search of the sin that will take one there. The wielder intuitively understands the deepest wants, needs, desires, fears and regrets of those that look into it. With prolonged contact, they can dramatically heighten the emotional intensity of these factors, crippling with mourning or fear, heightening anger to a frenzy, intensifying feelings of pride to narcissistic arrogance, overwhelming one with their own greed and other such flaws in the spirit. The more virtuous and enlightened, the fewer methods the eye has to inflict its powers, but even the greatest masters typically have at least one weakness to exploit.
>>98874261>Kai can assimilate traits from another living species by consuming its flesh, blood, saliva, or other biological material. They can manifest those traits at will or keep them dormant. They disguise this phenomenon as a Core Release Technique. The reason everyone is playing along is that its just a normal ass shapeshifter technique they can all do man. Ostensibly you could have just taken signature/special technique Chimeric Shape
>>98874797I had the same problem with The Herald until I realized I could give him some Martial Arts, even if it doesn't directly help his build or makes him good at fighting compared to dedicated brawlers, it made sense that someone who lived in the City Between that long had at least developed some fighting abilities.Legitimately might be neat to consider little side-things they have just because the setting demands them. A basic Summoning Rite for a pact with a certain Spirit or family, a Martial Art or so for self-defence, maybe some Flow utility, that sort of thing.
>Cannibal Child Soldier>Satan EpsteinNow we're cooking.
>>98874928If you're talking about the shapeshifter's animal form, that is just turning into one animal, which is far from the desired effect. From the extensive work with panaceas and herbal solutions to the messenger system of tiny paper creations and living ink. It's easy to underestimate exactly how much she is actually providing but those who really matter can plainly see the months shaved off recovery, the sluggish strikes of a drugged foe and the oddly durable paper constructs that protect civilians as if she were present herself at every battle leading some to praise the Crane Saint. As an Ally her personal attention will lead to you being immune to all manner of poison and disease thanks to her Panacea, and guardians of papercraft will never be too far away if needed. Tiny paper cranes releasing signals and Emitters and ever unfurling paper laced with poison and releasing living ink and paper constructs to protect you from danger, perhaps even being entrusted with papercraft weaponry that seems impossibly sharp and durable. As a Romance she is surprisingly lacking in practical experience, not one to leave her lab for such things in the past, She falls on the reserved and quiet side and lacks heavily in the warmth department but if you persist for long enough you may see cracks start to from in that perfect mirror and perhaps even enjoy some time in the Herbal Lunar Pool with company instead of alone. As a RivalDon't.

She was definitely on a downward path to becoming a true hellion but everything changed with the Chimera attacked. She received a proper and encouraged outlet for her endless bloodlust, all her crimes were considered unimportant in the face of the immediate threat and she was given free reign to bathe in the blood of her enemies. The gossipers have yet to settle on a proper epithet for her, in part due to the incredibly distracting nature of her fighting style both in terms of gruesome bloodbaths and the lack of clothes she tends to wear while fighting. Unless you want to join the other one, but that's unlikely conisdering what you called SC.>You also mentioned a bunch of eastern sounding names and factions but failed to go into detail about any of them. Those are all cyoa factions, they are explained in the cyoa. >>98875990Makes sense, if it helps at all I can assuage three of your issues;a. The Chimerae are far past 'random animal attacks' and have delved into 'active invasion led by unseen intelligences' territory; their leaders have a plan and some anons (myself included) have plans for PCs who have turned to their side for various reasons.b. Though I didn't discuss it well enough, a significant aspect of the plot is not about the Chimerae directly, but rather how other parties are taking advantage of the chaos and are causing issues all on their own. I will be focusing on the Chimerae plot directly, but there's plenty of room for the various parties of Youdu to be stabbing each other in the back - one of the reasons why the Chimerae are winning.c. Basically everything mentioned by name in the prompt is from the CYOA, I can elaborate more as I expand the concept if you'd like though.

There are other ways to solve problems that don't involve blowing up shit, but aslo still use the powers that could blow up mountains. >>98878362A lot of ways. You could make a guy who wants to expand his territory by taking advantage of the chaos. >>98876943I changed her allegiance in the rentry, she's no longer a member of the Ninokata, but part of a Hellion Mob. I felt that Ninokata had way too much political intrigue for me, I'd rather keep her plot straightforward, like in the works of the Yakuzas. The contrast between the depravity of the Hellion Mob and her religious piety, and the character transition from a disciplined Ninokata underling to becoming a product of her own surroundings in the Hellion Mob I thought were interesting. There's also more potential for build interactions, with her and Bob Dunn, both in the Hellion Mob. And a potential to become a small-time antagonist, since members of the Hellion Mob are pieces of shit.
>>98877908Weve got an alchemist I think that could do it.

>>98879529I'm not feeling YOU. How about we change that, come over here...
>>98879470>is he anything other than strong?Huh, for some reason I thought I wrote more on his personality, but on a reread it's mostly just his reaction to his newfound emotions rather than how he displays them (at most a line or two in the Ally and Romance section). I'll add a dedicated personality section sometime tomorrow, but the general gist is a wild animal that has gained the morality of a noble warrior, and is doing his best to push that down or justify his actions ('Of course I didn't eat the child, they need to fatten up first!', 'Bowing is essential before combat, it is a predatory display for humans.').>does he perhaps have a curious side to him where he likes to investigate local customs and participate in every holiday at least once?He definitely has a more curious personality, but he can't really capitalize on that most of the time due to his appearance/nature. Bigger thing would be more basic concepts or activities like cooking or board games, stuff he could learn in a more private setting. He is very naive and easy to manipulate, especially if you play to his ego.

>>98883360Saya is a rising star who was conscripted out of the Institute library, originally a quiet woman who enjoyed reading and practicing alchemy peacefully in the schools labs she has since become a cornerstone of the defense efforts in numerous ways. Its a very bad idea to piss off the quartermaster who is in charge of saving your life.
Some nerd said armor was worthless but literally on the first page of techniques it says that your aura reinforcement is stronger wiht a sturdy foundation to build on so armor is still useful. Granted I think the idea was more that you don't really want to soak attacks or anything, but still.
>>98883520>but literally on the first page of techniques it says that your aura reinforcement is stronger wiht a sturdy foundation to build on so armor is still useful.Just for that one shitty basic technique, other techs are way better and don't require any armor, hell core straight up gets a tech that makes you stronger the more naked you are.>Granted I think the idea was more that you don't really want to soak attacks or anything, but still. As the anon who said that originally I didn't mean that armor is worthless, but that there are several different ways to deal with damage that are better than armor available to all affinities. That post was asking if we wanted more armored faceclaims since we are doing a war setting, so I answered that in this setting armor doesn't equate to being a fighter and that some very strong fighters can just wear whatever and be better off than with armor so there was no reason to limit the faceclaims like that. That said, normal armor is worthless, that shitty basic technique has limits and is very inefficient, so if you want armor you need to look at other things, like ancient armor in the item section, a heavenly instrument armor, weapon infusion armor, and so forth. Normal armor is worthless when even the most basic shit in the cyoa specifically tears steel apart.

>>98883688Youdu is falling. As endless hordes of Chimarae slaughter innocents, Yami and Yudi rest, indifferent. To preserve the fragile peace between bickering factions, the City's brightest minds created KOAN. A genius beyond measure, KOAN equips the remaining Overseers to maintain order while serving as a cornerstone of that order.KOAN is everywhere: watching sigils, miniature spy-dolls, robotic servants running public services, and ensouled combat bodies fighting criminals and invading Chimerae. These combat forms wield modern weaponry, aura, and specialized techniques, but their true marvel is their creation. Masterpieces beyond any remaining sorcerer's or engineer's ability, they can face Youdu's greatest threats alone, slaughter Chimerae hordes, and execute those sentenced under the City's law.As an Ally, KOAN considers you a net positive for the continued existence of Youdu and the City Between, and values your life. Expect subtle and overt aid; deliveries of key supplies, backup from robots and golems, or direct intervention from the most advanced combat forms. You may even gain access to cutting-edge weapons and civil science before the public. As a Romance, you will discover the hidden depths of humanity within KOAN. Little touches in dolls, homonculi, robots and golems, stylization of new inventions and constructions, and behavior around certain types of people will reveal that KOAN really is human, under all the metal. Expect to enjoy quiet moments together and a long process of opening up and discovering hobbies that seemed impossible to justify making time for, before. As a Rival, you are likely a criminal or Chimerae sympathizer. KOAN will tactically apply force and allocate resources to your execution as if you were any other threat to the City. Proving too powerful will simply mean a shift to subtler methods-undermining support systems, poisons, and attacks aimed at basic necessities, such as food, water, and sleep.

>Barneyisn't his build literally Lizard from Worm
>>98884166Uh, no?
>>98884175All I remember is Lizard would spam his summons fighting each other getting stronger and that just seems like what his build is
>>98884181Lizard was an honest, non-shitposting, powerwanker ESL. Barney ain't that
>>98884181To me it just looks like they fight just to defend him then go back, unless he's really in danger which is when he just summons more by becoming the honey trap. The build doesn't really have something that makes the summons stronger when they fight each other. At most they get stronger when someone manages to hit him, and only him. But that boost would be temporary because a summoned creature's body disappears when they are unsummoned, and all the stat boosts would go away with it.
>>98884198Isn't that NOT what his build does? >Stitching of the Heart affects all beings that would be affected by a Shaman's KundalaTo me this reads as "every summon gets Stitching of the Heart".>But that boost would be temporary because a summoned creature's body disappears when they are unsummoned, and all the stat boosts would go away with it.Succubi and Incubi are specifically Spirits you need to make a contract with. I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be permanent and that's the build's gimmick.
>>98884218"It does not affect the user" seems moreso to be the stipulation you're looking for; if it can't affect the user, it can't activate from their injuries, meaning it must activate from the summons.
>>98884218>To me this reads as "every summon gets Stitching of the Heart".Yes, but it's not the real one, it's his version that boosts his allies when he gets hit.>Succubi and Incubi are specifically Spirits you need to make a contract with.Yes, but they are still spirits. When you summon a spirit you make a body for it, that body goes away when the spirit gets desummoned. All core tech only affect the body not the soul. He summons the same souls, but every time he summons them they get a brand new body, so the buffs wouldn't be permanent.
>>98884227>but it's not the real one, it's his version that boosts his allies when he gets hit.I don't think it does that. >>98884224 is right when it says "does not affect the user" so I don't think he's part of the technique working at all.>but they are still spirits. When you summon a spirit you make a body for it, that body goes away when the spirit gets desummoned. Doesn't it specify when this is the case? I don't think you do that for suc/incubi. They have bodies of their own.>All core tech only affect the body not the soul. That's def not true.>He summons the same souls, but every time he summons them they get a brand new bodyDubiousness of that being true aside, I'm pretty sure he could just summon the same body since it says "restored" if destroyed.
>>98884256>Doesn't it specify when this is the case? I don't think you do that for suc/incubi. They have bodies of their own.If they had bodies they would not be spirits.
>>98884227>>98884256>When you summon a spirit you make a body for it, that body goes away when the spirit gets desummoned. That's only for Transmigration, other Spirit summoning techniques don't do that.
>>98884266Then where does the body come from? The whole point of spirits is that they don't have bodies.
>>98884263The image for succubus colony is literally them struggling to get through a window, pretty sure its safe to say that they have something approaching bodies
>>98884271>Then where does the body come from?Probably the same 'body' they use for everything else like fucking and touching people.
>>98884274Anon that's not a good argument. Of course they have bodies after they are summoned, but not before.
>>98884271>>98884263>>98884282Succubi have bodiesThere's even a companion one; she literally walks around looking for work
>>98884282They weren't summoned for the succubus colony mission, that's literally just them infesting a place as normal spirits.

Barney anon here, the interpretation in this post >>98884218 is what I intended. Does that not work? Should I reword it better to make it more clear? It's a strong combo I think but since we're in an OP run I think it's okay.
I can't tell which archetype is most insufferable.>author's blatant fetish>lazy genius>fighting obsessed autist who's always smiling
>>98884792author's blatant fetish > fighting obsessed autist who's always smiling > lazy geniusAuthor's blatant fetish can be hot so it clears. Fighting obsessed autist who's always smiling could be alright or cringe depending on how much charisma they have. Usually it's pure cringe though because anons can't write charisma. Lazy genius is easily the worst. It's cringe, ironically tryhard, and almost never entertaining. This is also a charisma issue but by nature the lazy genius is just waiting for them to find the motivation to solve the problem or they already did and they're waiting for everyone else to realize it. >>98887890>you shouldn't be afraid to make big moves if you feel things have been going slow. It's actually the opposite, I felt that I was making things go too fast.My little intro is set up an indeterminate amount of time after what I assume to be the ending of In the Stone, of course since I don't know how that will go it's pretty vague so it could happen in the middle too. Still in Valeria so not too much later. I originally had Belladonna talk to her own clones in a group, having a mental breakdown over her latest plan failing. But looking back on it I felt like maybe it was too far gone from the mental level she displayed, it was not gradual enough for her to suddenly start talking to herself like that. So instead I changed it to her talking to a kidnapped victim part of her next plan. Still feels like a descent into insanity, spilling all the details of her plan to a random person, but less so than talking to herself. Maybe I'm worrying too much, how to portray other's characters has always been one of the things I struggle with most.>As for me, I was delayed by IRL stuff so I'll only finish my FT thing by tomorrow. Cool. Good to see others haven't given up.> And to think I wanted to make something for halloween too... I got too cocky.Right, I forgot that was soon. >>98888001>My little intro is set up an indeterminate amount of time after what I assume to be the ending of In the Stone, of course since I don't know how that will go it's pretty vague so it could happen in the middle too.Without giving too much away, at the end of In The Stone, Laurie will get the celestial spirit key from the gargoyle, and the spirit inside will reveal the truth about her mother, but will refuse to give her any more clues or make a contract until she finds another key that pairs with him. So after that, Laurie will be preparing to hunt the new key, but will still be in Valeria. Though if you have any more questions, I'd be glad to answer.>I originally had Belladonna talk to her own clones in a group, having a mental breakdown over her latest plan failing. But looking back on it I felt like maybe it was too far gone from the mental level she displayed, it was not gradual enough for her to suddenly start talking to herself like that. Now that you explained it more I do agree. I also think Belladonna anon was planning to write something with Helena comforting her after another failure, so yeah her mental state probably wouldn't have deteriorated that badly by then.
>>98888067>Though if you have any more questions, I'd be glad to answer.I have nothing particular to ask on the writeup, I am glad to see that I didn't contraddict anything of what is about to happen, yet. I do have a general question about Laurie tho. I know she's a bit naive and very trusting, but is she like that with everyone equally or does she have like a soft spot for kids or a particular kind of person she doesn't like? Would she give an expensive potion to a random kid on the street if she thought the kid needed it?> I also think Belladonna anon was planning to write something with Helena comforting her after another failure, so yeah her mental state probably wouldn't have deteriorated that badly by then.Glad I rewrote it then. It's also funny that was in the works as I may have inadvertedly created a good setup for it.

Would she give an expensive potion to a random kid on the street if she thought the kid needed it?She does have a soft spot for kids and would give one that potion. She also has a soft spot for the elderly. For people she doesn't like, she has her guard unusually up for people who deal with money, such as tax collectors, bankers, etc. She doesn't like people who speak or act cryptically, as she feels she has enough of a mystery in her life. In that sense, she would bicker with other people who have Fortune Telling magic quite often. If there's one thing she hates, it's when someone keeps a secret to "protect" someone else.Obviously, she also wouldn't like blatant dark guilders like Nilhoon and Akhmun, and to a certain extent that's why she's currently wary of Lorus, because of his criminal leaning reputation.
>>98888448That's very good information, thank you. And damn, she would hate the sister, she's 2 out the 3 things she dislikes, she's only missing the money because she's on the run.Lorus may appear cryptic, until you understand that he's just strange and the strange things he says aren't coded messages and he means all of it.
>>98874678By the way, I'm still around. Just lurking. Every now and then I sneak into mps without going out of my way to make it obvious like I usually do. Quite comfy.
>>98874678I can almost hear his voice...
>>98888779You should do it more often. The builds lately have been so ass.
My writeup is done, but the new thread still doesn't have SC. Should I post it anyway?
>>98888899If you're not willing to post the cyoa, why even play it?
>>98888899Yeah, because I'm bored
>>98888946My writeup isn't for SC it's for FT. I just don't want people to be confused if a writeup gets posted before all the cyoa posts.I'm not in SC yet, and I'm not sure if the guy who started it has any specific way it needs to be formatted, otherwise I would have posted it myself.
