OBR wasn't random, it was just an army based on End Times stuff that stood out as particularly odd. It was rumoured about too.
I do wish we got something closer to Tomb Kings, but more Nagash style fleshy liche than mummies and shit. Basically just an army of tiny Nagashs + Arkhans + constructs

I can definitely see how they evolved from there but there's still a bit of a leap between that and the goofy faced goober bone golems we got.

>>
>>
>>98876752
the only ones with the goofy faces are the basic melee infantry. pretty much just one kit thats the problem. everything else looks great
>>
Kuan Tien Tung went absolutely insane this GD. They won or placed in every category, basically. Also I wouldn't have festus pegged as two of the large model winners, and I definitely didn't expect the WFB slann to take first in the large model category.

>>98876757
The curves and rolls on heavyset people have always made them popular with artists. Go to any college figure painting class and most of the nude models are heavyset women. I know everyone likes to reeee about overweight women of color but that's a lot more interesting to paint than your fifth "regular" marauder.

Really cool to see the thirty year old Slann sculpt beat out three decades of advancements in large monster models.

I know they're well received but I kind of don't like when the large model winners is kind of 'predetermined' - like, the year Ushoran or Vordrai came out, it kind of felt like you were handicapping yourself by not promoting GWs new mini

If GW wanted to add Chaos presence in the south in TOW I've always though they could do something like the Afircan tribes with really tall people and the big wooden masks and their worship is more akin to voodoo.
Doesn't make as much sense in AOS since real world cultural/ethnic equivalents don't really exist since there's not much in the way of meaningful geography to shape them. Everything is pretty cosmopolitan in AOS. But a human kingdom on Ghur could work I guess.

>say "fuck it" and make wheels sacred for at least this cult and see how it goes

>>98878228
the cannon has wheels
>>
>>98878235
Yeah, and in lore Zenestra will send her goons to personally rip wheels off of carts and cannons because it offends her.
>>
>>98878206
The concept of using human beings as a transport for an enshrined figure goes so hard, tying in the positive themes of the indomitability of the human spirit but also the darker undertone of exploitation of the masses. An excellent fit for an army where foot peasants march alongside moving castles. It's a shame the Grail Reliquae capture that feeling so much better than zenestra.
>>
>>98878235
I was talking about zenestra specifically
>>
I actually like a lot of stuff on this mini. The hooded monk up front and the palanquin themselves have a strong presence. Zenestra herself lacks presence, which would be improved by either making her fat or a child - the former emphasizes the weight she puts on her bearers and the latter emphasizes the fact that she's basically a reincarnating immortal, as well as being more shocking to see fight. I actually don't think her being obviously black is an issue - blacks have a unique relationship with religion, ranging from their own subset of churches to more esoteric Black Israelite stuff. A weirdly religious black woman is actually pretty believable to me.
>>
>>
>>98878333
Also the wheel symbolism should be WAAAAAAY more heavy handed. The lanterns should be burning wheels, or at least wheel-shaped braziers/chandeliers with candles placed on the spokes. There should be wheels on poles as standards decorating the palaquin, similar to the metal eight pointed star standards that chaos warriors have.
>>
>>98878330
I think the cinder god lore is pretty cool and I like most of the model except zenestra herself. She lacks presence, idk.
Also kind of ugly, like yeah she's a grandma I'm not expecting her to be hot or anything but she's just kinda odd looking. Not even in a chud way.
Maybe a veil or something could be added to add to the mystique?
>>
Are there any kits or other sources that would provide good sculpted roses? I know there's some in Nighthaunt but a lot of those are sculpted into bases or other hard to extract areas. Alternatively, what're the odds that I might be able to sculpt a decent one having never done any real sculpting before?
>>
>>98878350
Like I said, I actually think a religiously strict elderly woman is not intrinsically a deal breaker for a support/warshrine centerpiece. I had pre-refresh Cities army, but I genuinely don't resonate with the new minis enough to buy back in. The box with Talia and a bunch of horses might convince me, I just can't see myself painting Steelhelms and I'd have to do SOMETHING with Zenestra but unlike Steelhelms I could see myself making the mini likeable to me.

I guess you could try and paint zenestra herself to have a subtle cindery ethereal effect, maybe by utilizing heavy red undertones? Ehhh...

>>
>>98876735
That sylvaneth model is fuckin mint. While I wouldn’t like all dryads to look like that it’d be neat as a one off here and there. I should probably save some money for a sylvaneth expansion matter of fact.
>>
>>98878566
It's a very cool model range.
>>
>>98878566
Since release, Sylvaneth have gotten Alarielle, Kurnoth Hunters, Drycha, the bug riders, the big Kurnoth bug rider, the Arch Revenant, Lady of Vines, Grove Guardian, and some warbands. They're not getting a dedicated release wave for a long time. They have one of the biggest and most complete ranges.
>>
>>98878701
Oh, and also the flying archers. What I mean is, I dont think they're getting a third expansion after two dedicated waves and several glorious large models as their 'pity heroes'.
>>
>>98878701
Alarielle was part of their initial release wave. So far they've had their initial 2016 release (+inherited kits from whfb), followed by a couple of pity heroes (I think they were in 2 vs boxes, so more than most). Their pity heroes also tend to be quite big.
Then in 2022 they got a small second wave which was the lady of vines, the gossamid archers, and the bug riders. They also got belthanos in the end of edition campaign.
They've been better supported than a lot of other factions but honestly nothing too crazy outside of their nice little pick-me-up in 3rd edition. Honestly they probably punch up pretty well when you consider their actual range size.
But yeah goes to show that even a relatively small amount of new (non foot hero) models can really help a faction out. Same with obr this edition.
Wouldn't expect anything too sizeable for a couple of years though. Dryad refresh maybe.
>>
>>98878795
Idoneth would probably be in a better place by now if they also had gotten big monsters for each of their pity releases instead of more foot heroes.
>>
>>98878330
>Esoteric
More like deracinated
>>
>>98878837
Yes, I think it's really a stretch to call something like Belthanos, Lady of Vines, Arch Revenant, Warsong Revenant, or Grove Guardian a pity hero. If every one of AoS' redheaded stepchildren got this amount of love, FS would probably not be soup right now...
>>
>>98878530
Is it all worth watching if I'm not a KO fan?
What other factions are in it?
>>
>>98878883
Deracinated only applies to stuff like black Israelites, but there's more than just that on the spectrum of strange religions that black people love. Black people are also very overrepresented in Jehova's Witnesses, of which Prince was a famous example. But there's also the trend of late-in-life Islamic conversion in black Americans, which is not so much a deracination thing; and the role of gospel or Caribbean voodoo beliefs in black religiosity is the opposite of deracination.

In general black people, particularly in America, have a weird affinity for religious with weird strict prohibitions. Zenestra being an old strict black lady is actually a great choice.
>>
>>98878701
Frankly speaking, they have more lmao. They’re one of the more narratively involved factions, up there with stormcasts among the order factions. They should have as big of a range compared to maggotkin at least.
>>
>>98878950
They should have more*
>>
>>98878950
Do maggotkin have a bigger range than Sylvaneth? I'd say both factions are a good example of a currently well supported range unlikely to get an expansion. The biggest difference is that maggotkin actually came into AoS with a decent range from End Times, between the PBKs, flies, maggoth lord kit, and glottkin. Sylvaneth got their first wave in 1e, maggotkin got theirs in end times.
>>
>>98879094
The only thing maggotkin got from endtimes were like 3-4 kits and those were mostly just heroes. Sylvaneth themselves don’t have that large of a range compared to maggotkins 33 warscrolls where sylvaneth only have 25 (including the endless spells).

Those 8 warscrolls are because of the WFB range. In terms of AoS support Sylvaneth has has just as many releases as nurgle, it's just they inherited dryads and branchwraiths in comparison to the relatively healthy range nurgle got

As it stands very few factions are allowed to have longstanding grudges or opinions on one another because so many of them only properly appeared recently.
>>
>>98880443

to be fair, most of the artworks usually look better than the models themselves i usually think of sekhar as my case in point

i dont mind the flamekeeper and the grimhold exile and i actually really like the new fyreslayer with dog i might get him just to have it. also im so glad i picked up the doomseeker before his demise, one of the best dorf models ever imo

I wish they did a proper final MTO or sendoff or something for these models. It's always like "Yeah he'll be going so pick one up if you want" And then before you know it it's gone because they had like 3 left in stock and they delist it. Gee, thanks.

When I ask you if you painted something, it isn't a personal insult. It's like asking if something I enjoyed is homemade or store bought. I enjoyed it, so I want to know if I should direct my compliments at you, because I think you deserve them.

Unfortunately, once this positive sentiment is filtered through your layers and layers of insecurity and lack of validation in your personal life, this reads to you as an affront. It's just sad. You can't imagine being the subject of praise so you make it a negative thing.

Tbh I'm kinda impressed he got that many right for someone that's just a rampant liar and has lucky guesses. Even a broke clock is right twice a day amirite? Imagine the idiots that believed that games workshop would ever nuke a setting.

>>98876687
Tbh I'd be happy enough if they just gave death a cohesive theme or mechanic to be based around. Right now I honestly think you could swap most of cos and obr rules and fudge the names a bit and nobody could tell you which rules belong to you which army.

Sbgl and fec still got a little uniqueness in them but sbgl feels like such a farcry from the tricksy 2e book they were.

Nh is just fucked. I don't understand why they didn't just remove ethereal when doing a massive overhaul of the faction. The problem is and always will be when some ass hats cogfort or archaon whiffs they'll blame ethereal, or when the army is doing insanely well they'll still blame ethereal.
>>
>>98881089
They're not a bad size but it does make the box feel super underwhelming. Imagine trying to talk a buddy into starting up an army and that's the fucking box you point to. 8 models for like $300? They're gonna tell you to go fuck yourself.
At least with the NH or the Maggotkin boxes you actually feel like you're going something that not just a marked up Spearhead box.
>>
>>98881155
Low model counts don't drive people away from knight armies, gargant armies or custodes armies.
>>
>>98881027
Alright lemme try and calculate value. Using yurobux for this:
>stormcast
annihilators (x3): 153
bastian 38.5
celestant 38.5
relictor 36
praetors 47.50
Total of €313.5. If battleforces are 212 like they seem to be now that's like a 32% discount.
>CoS
Cavaliers (x2) 113
Cav marshal 56
Tahlia 135
Total €299, 29% discount
>nurgle
Harbringer 51
Lord of blights 27
Blightkings 53
Rotswords 53
Wretches 47.50
Sloven knights 56.50
Total €288, 26% discount. Feels a lot better than the rest honestly despite not being that great of a discount on paper. Less character and centrepiece tax?
>jawz
Beeg peeg x2 140
Small peeg x2 148
Total €288 again, 26% discount
>nagash and friends
Nagash 125
Dreadblades 23.50
Harridans 47.50
Scythe guys 47.50
Sword guys 47.50
Total €291, discount 27%
>StD
Chaos lord on horse 53
Chaos knights 56.50
Chaos warriors 51.50
Varanguard 87.50 (holy shit)
Chosen 51.50
Total €300, 29%
Surprisingly stormcast are the best value
>>
>>98881180
Retail yeah, you can find lots of sce and nh stuff nos second hand for much cheaper. Taking into account the second hand market, nurgle or cos would be my guess.

Nh and sce feel like a trap. Wouldn't be surprised to see praetors and harrows cut within the next 6 years, even a rumor of new nagash.

>>98881313
Stormcast are essentially custom made for exactly this purpose. Try to find some deals on ebay since they've been in every starter box since 2015 they're usually really cheap.
If you want some different shapes and textures and stuff nighthaunt and kruleboyz also work for this, provided you can still find some.

Honestly you gotta make some adjustments for actual value vs MSRP, which is no surprise.

The Stormcast box has Annihilators which are not worth anything anymore on the secondary market, UNLESS they are the full NON-ETB kit, in which case they're just worth a lot less than MSRP.

Lord of Blights is likewise not terribly popular anymore, though it was good for painters a couple years ago when the Lord of Plagues/Lord of Blights was like a rite of passage.

CoS box looks genuinely great, no notes, no steelhelms in the box is awesome.

StD box

Pigs is hard to rationalize. Gore gruntas used to be really cheap in the SC!, much like magmadroths and carnosaurs long-time players are gonna have a hard time swallowing their price memory.

Sure, but you're asking someone to buy a kit that they don't use the majority of. That's not really a solution. The simple answer would be "don't buy a model you don't like", but it's complicated by the fact that Kroak is a badass character who people liked before his refresh.

-The upcoming Underworlds box cotaining two warbands would be released in September, but they are now delayed potentially to Christmas By Ejecutor
-There's no Cities of Sigmar warband among the ones releasing in September By Ejecutor
-There's four warbands and six decks coming for Underworlds By Ejecutor
-Whitefang back me up says that Ejecutor's info is not right and that there's no more UW warbands coming. By Whitefang

Iirc nighthaunt generally just have pretty good point per dollar ratios, their shit doesn't look like it but it's all pretty elite. But the models are not that much plastic so the price in money is still reasonable.
For example all the melee infantry in the box are 60 bucks while being between 190-200 points. For comparison with some other decently elite 10 man infantry blocks; arboyds are 160, chaos warriors are 180, barrow guard are only 130. All of which cost more than $65.
Also the dreadblades are a respectable 120 points. But because they're a weird ERB two man cav unit they're only 32 bucks. Gore gruntas, by comparison, are 160 points for 94 bucks! If gruntas were pointed like dreadblades they'd be like 350 or something.
Also nagash is absurd value. Because he's relatively old for a centrepiece he's not as expensive as you might think. Tahlia for example is slightly more expensive than him, but in terms of points she's not even half (350 vs 750).
Tldr nighthaunt have some really good value units and they're like all in this box.

CoS, Nurgle, slaves, nighthaunt are great boxes. Stormcast is a particularly bad box because it only has one unit of the annihilator build options.

Orruks needs to be talked about more - iti s middling, because there's minimal unit variety and a mix of desirable and older models, but the units are all good in games. However, the box consists of only 8 models which can seem discouraging to start a new army, the points (alongside the stormcast box) are on the lower end, and some people have always taken issue with the appearance of the gore grunta model regardless of how good the stats are. Unlike stormcast, where I'd blanket recommend you steer away, this is more of a conditional recommendation for someone who is very happy with the low model count and genuinely likes the way the orcs look and play (which is an aggressive melee army). Also, you'll have to pick up at least one, maybe more, Warchanters, and the spearhead doesn't have much synergy with this box; if you can find an old Ironjawz Start Collecting! Box from a couple years prior that's the perfect companion to this box.
>>
>>98885113

Look at the Warcom article. Big pig is explicitly listed as "Builds Maw Gouga, Tuskboss, or Maw Gouga with hacking crew".

Now look at this, where they explicitly mention which build options the box has. Considering elsewhere they specify when you have options, and here they do not...
>>
>>98885138
>>98885113
NTA, idk the meta for Ironjawz. But I've seen people irl running pigs and what I think was infantry from their spearhead box together irl. Is it that bad? We kinda run more of fun/what we rhink looks cool lists at my LGS for AoS and 40K. Just curious.

From what I've seen the IJ that start to mass pigs seem to keep doing it while the infantry heavy builds seem to focus on that. I haven't played IJ since 3e though, and the last time I saw them in a game was two weeks ago and it was someone who was playing all pigs. Warchanters are pretty mandatory for all IJ lists though.

that doesn't track, the ones with grandhammer only come out of the full multikit so they can always be built as the other ones, while if the ones with shield and hand weapon came from the etb ones from dominion then they would have come with a bunch of other shit in the original sprue and not be showcased by models from the multipart kit.

Alright so this is clearly made up of the great parch on the left and chamon's crux on the right. The land inbetween is what's left of the gnaw area. This checks out with existing rumours, as one of the new continents is supposed to be aqshy+chamon+ghur. (The other big one being ghyran+shyish, and hysh being its own thing)
The big skaven icon in the middle corresponds to hexeneste, which again is mentioned in the rumours. The big sigmarite icon is hammerhal, which is again roughly in the same place as it currently is.
I also make out kharadron, khazalid and possibly lumineth symbols.
I don't know what the bell-shaped icons are supposed to be. Minor sigmarite cities? Stormcast holds?
Assuming this is legit, this is overall pretty huge news despite being so blurry and not givint away too much info. Confirms the theory that the new map will (at least in large part) be made up of the most important regions of each realm, which we have maps for currently. The great parch, realmspire crux, everspring swathe, ghurish heartlands, etc.

Thanks for clarifying and explaining that to me, Im a little leery of GW conning unwary buyers one way or another with these discount boxes. When I started in 2e/3e there were a lot of these partial kits without a command unit or build options.

Looks like I might be stepping away from the game permanently, which leaves me feeling very melancholic. I've always been a devout follower of 'play whatever edition you like best' but with so many changes that seem to be looming to the game/lore/feel and I personally feel the battleforces are very lack lustre.

I'm just not interested in a 'single world' over realms no matter how they spin it, we already have decades worth of the old world for that and the old world is available doing old world things. We have an incredible line up of of 'new' AoS forces right now, and the battleforces just don't touch on the incredible new models they put out. I know that from a business perspective they can't put ALL the new models in them every year, but some of the older sets where brimming with what I'd think were 'interesting' mixes of models that felt like a good hook to get people to sink into a new range of models, excite someone into a new range, or to get someone collecting AoS for the first time. These just feel like what ever they had too much stock off kicking around the warehouse, with very few standout centrepiece models. The nurgle one is the best of a bad bunch, the chaos one is the same sort of chaos one we've seen year after year but with no stand out dragon/beast model included. CoS feels devoid of any real cool factor, just being the same models (though I guess its got a good theme and they are nice models). Nighthaunt is ok but seeing Nagash is a 8th Ed WFB model, and I highly suspect by including him they are going to get rid of him in 6 months time. The stormcast one is really embarrassing.

I just don't know if I'd want to keep playing the edition I do like, when even so they are going to be focusing on new lore/models/factions/games that focus on this single world concept. It sounds like they want to cater to the crowd that spent years complaining about AoS, mostly for it not being 'the old world' setting.

Not really a good painter I usually try to follow tutorials. Why does it seem like a vast majority of tutorials just use contrast paint? I prefer the idea of base/layer + wash. Is that phased out of fashion? Is contrast just so much better that almost everyone does it and I'm just retarded and can't find the appeal?
>>
>>98885443
>Why does it seem like a vast majority of tutorials just use contrast paint?
because it's a popular and useful tool
>Is contrast just so much better that almost everyone does it and I'm just retarded and can't find the appeal?
yes
it's not the miracle paint that gives you base, shadow, and highlight, it was first paraded around as, but it's a very useful replacement for a normal base before you go for further layers and highlights, or an alternative way to shade a model after you've nailed its main flat colors

if you just want to dip your models into a wash after a base, I don't see why you would look for tutorials to begin with
>>
>>98885443
Using contrast as a base coat is like 10x faster and easier than using normal base paints. It's not even really about the contrast effect, it's the fact that you can just slap them on like a wash and they're ready for more advanced work.
>>
>>98885443
>Is that phased out of fashion?

no, its just not...how to say this...not as profitable as a youtuber? basically the type of people going for tutorials are the type of people who are lacking skill and looking for a quick easy solution. contrast promises a 1 paint solution, just slap on one coat and you're done, so it appeals to sort of the lowest common denominator painter looking for a tutorial but not necessarily someone who's willing to put in the hard work to actually get a good looking model.

there are some tutorials that incorporate contrast but then finish with proper brushwork, and those are different. they tend to use the contrast more like a strong glaze or wash as just part of the process rather than a 1 paint solution

ultimately though, contrast is generally worse results than a traditional method assuming both parties know what they're doing, but contrast can appear better than traditional at the absolute bottom rungs of the skill ladder.

yeah. 4e ruined the game, 5e will ruin the lore/worldbuilding.

They believed and still think that slaanesh was going to be killed. You have to understand the level of absolute retard that posts in this general has literally never been seen before
>>
>>98885685
>They believed and still think that slaanesh was going to be killed.
It was absolutely true, until GW walked back on it.

If you want to point at a schizo you have to mention kragnos and malasya.
>>
>>98885677
Soon we’ll have all the Chaos AoS kits when the game fails from TLW so hooray.
>>
>>98885677
what i've gotten so far of the cathay stuff has been a lot of fun, i could definitely be down for more cathay waves
>>

Was it as bad to assemble as they say?

>>
>>98885713
GW only gets more filthy rich every year, so no. They suck, but they're raking in money hand over fist.
>>
>>98885702
yes.

i've been hobbying since 2002. it was probably thee worst kit i've ever had to put together. it looks great when its done but be ready for a battle and dryfit EVERYTHING first. even the stuff that seems obvious.

there are lots of parts where its just flat on flat floating connections with no pegs or slots or sockets

there are parts that are straight up missing from the instructions or the instructions are labeled wrong (one of the thumbs on the staff hand i remember had this issue)

the instructions themselves are bad black and white photocopy looking instructions instead of the newer colored high quality style.

there's a whole internal rock skeleton thats completely invisible once assembled, burried under all the latticework segments, that makes it very difficult to fit the latticework segmets over top of.

sections are just split up into needlessly high amount of pieces like each calf being an 8 way vertical split piece like a banana with 2 layers of peel.

its worth the effort, its really cool, but it fights you the whole way. the weirdest thing though? nothing else in the cathay range is like this. miao ying? took 5 minutes to put together no problem. the cannons? easy. everything else was a breeze, its just the sentinel that was a problem.
>>
>>98885730
Damn. And then you have to worry about painting the parts beneath the gaps as well.
>>
>>98885315
It's technically a really good box for value but that's only because gw inflates the fuck out of foot characters. Also annihilators are cool but they're cheap online because of dominion + do you really want 3 of em?
I get that it's a thematic box for the army of renown, but I can definitely see this one being a shelfwarmer. Especially since stormcast players will have a new launch box to play with in half a year anyway.
>>98885322
Too obvious but did make me chuckle
>>
>>98885738
>painting the parts beneath the gaps as well.

you wont be able to if you wait till its assembled. they're fairly deep in there, and also the gaps in the lattice are so narrow that you pretty much cant see them even if you painted them brightly, its not like something like the helsmiths bull mechs where the internal energy part is just below the iron grate, its obscured so much its probably not worth the effort to try to paint them. i would just hit the under stone with primer or whatever your surface material color is and forget about it.

its a cool idea, the internal magical energy stone that powers the golem, but once its put together you really cant see it at all.
>>
>>98885693
Fuck off vietnamese fyreslayers are real
>>
>>98885753
if the box has the full version of annihilators its a slightly better proposition since hammer annihilators are what most people want to run anyways, and the dominion ones are stuck with shields which get +1 save but deal somewhere in the ballpark of 50% less damage.

that said, putting 3 sets of annihilators in a single deal box strongly suggests to me that annihilators are on the chopping block

Kinda, though it could also be the new map of Aqshy with the stupid rat continent.

DID YOU REALLY THINK WE'D ESCAPE AQSHY, WE'RE STILL IN THE GNARLWOOD.
>>
>>98885693
I think going off of random meta shit vs the setting itself constantly involving and talking about slaanesh is just as schizophrenic
>>
>>98885773
The real trick is buying paladins for dirt cheap and running them as the grandhammer variant
>>98885778
The leftmost part is definitely capilaria and just the general parch, you can see the mountain range depicted. I guess the gnaw *could extent* all the way to the east but I think it's just the middle part. The esstern part looks to much like a vortex like the crux to be a coincidence imo
>>
>>98885764
So much effort in the assembly for no reason.
>>
How is the last world supposed to work when half the realms conflict with each other literally or metaphysically. Like, Ghur would just simply eat all the other continents, Chamon is utterly fucking fucked it’s just fucked up realmspheres, Hysh and Ulgu are literally the sun and moon I don’t understand how you turn that into a landmass. Thinking about this in any direction it’s really dumb
>>
>>98885805
They’re going to turn Shyish into the warp
>>
>>98885805
erm, the realms will suddenly work completely different to fit whatever the corpo overlords want
>>
>>98885805
The same way how X was always there. An asspull.
>>
>>98885805
Ghur is now Nu-Lustria, Hysh Nu-Ulthuan etc. GW is listening to TWW secondaries who’ll never buy an OW model let alone an AoS one. It’s stupid
>>
>>98885783
yeah, idk. the paladins are alright but i think i still prefer the annihilators, but the reclusians blow them both out of the water, so if im gonna buy elite stormcast its probably gonna be reclusians
>>
>>98885829
>squat sacrosanct to get rid of redundant units
>4e:
>>
>>98885805
something something the natures of the realms balance each other something something
>ghur tries to eat its neighbours but its neighbors are ghyran and shyish, so they just regrow the lost lands, or more underworlds simply emerge from beneath the waves
or those characterisations remain at the land level (trees, mountains, rivers, etc), but not at the continental level

as for the sun I'm crossing my fingers over the idea that ignax gets chained again and forced to be the sun of this new solar system
>>
>>98885820
>GW is listening to TWW secondaries
That might be part of it but I don't think that's the whole story. I mean even though it's been over a decade, a lot of the senior creatives in the studio cut their teeth working on WHFB and 40k. A lot of the junior writers probably got acquainted with WHFB before AoS launched. It wouldn't surprise me if at least some of these people share a lot of the kneejerk misgivings about the setting that the fake grogs do. And even if they don't, there's something to be said about teaching new tricks to old dogs. When people who worked on an old product are working with a similar mandate to develop a similar product in a way that appeals to more or less the same target demographic, the results are likely gonna end up looking familiar.
>>
>>98885782
>involving and talking about slaanesh
yeah, by introducing a plotline in 40k that involves a slaanesh killer, and a plotline in aos where slaanesh is helpless, as well as mistakenly leaving malekith's crown instead of slaanesh's symbol in one instance, and also mistakenly leaving a description of malekith calling him a chaos god

only meta shit, of course, gw would have never considered it, gw is flawless and never cancel or change plans as we all know
plenty of sources prove this was never a possibility too
>>
>>98885846
And now AoS will die off, and OW will endlessly tail spin with the TK -> Chaos -> Cathay -> TK release cycle endlessly while other factions starve.
>>
>>98885820
>Ghur is now Nu-Lustria
ghur would be the badlands and mountains of mourn, which funnily enough already had the whole "every mountain and land feature tries to eat everything around"

lizards craft their own not!lustria landmass, according to rumors

You need to get over this shit how are you comparing factions hiding in a post apocalypse setting with “yeah so the sun is just right there on earth even though we’ve said hysh and ulgus equilibrium is foundation to the universe itself
>>
Assuming it’s true, could sigmar just pull the continents out of the realms instead of collapsing the realms together? So the realms stay there just sans a continent in the stable middle of the realm
>>
>>98885852
When did you start reading Warhammer? Because baby’s first “dropped” plot point is this mentally buck breaking you?

>introducing a plotline in 40k that involves a slaanesh killer
You mean a faction in the setting has win condition? What the fuck? this has never happened before

>and a plotline in aos where slaanesh is helpless
Okay so chaos gods can’t do anything but win or winning got it
>>
>>98885880
and now the shattered remains of ulgu and hysh that didn't form a continent on the last world are the foundation to the universe itself and resting in the sky as its sun and moon

oooohhhhh, so difficult, so scary uuuuhhhh
>>
>>98885899

The initial concept art for TOW was kislev, because it was *checkes notes* excatly how they were in total war people threw bitchfits and Gw pivoted.
>>
>>98885897
A better question is when did you start reading? Because it's obvious you're not good at it, or at writing.
>>
>>98885909
No, gw pivoted because russia began a war in ukraine, in any case it wouldn't have been against cathay, it was always going to be against chaos.

the apocalypses matter jack shit if they happen so far back that civilisation bounced back to its previous levels or even higher ones, or of there were enough safe havens for people to just walk back out and start rebuilding with no significant degradation to their people and culture
>>
>>98885897
nta but I really want to hear your mental gymnastics why the slaanesh head isn't on Archaon's horse. Could use a good laugh.

$60 for 3 models is a pretty big ask. if i hadnt gotten my ironjawz ragers as part of a discounted deal box last year i dont think i would have ever bought them on their own, despite being cool models.

just gets to a point where the asking price is way too steep for what you get

you couldn't make this up
>"our customers say the realms are too complex, they don't understand what all the space in between the realms is, but they like the bits that have been fleshed out in maps and books."

>>
>>98886002
>we could either flesh out more of the world
they haven't done that in 10 years, they wouldn't manage to do that in 30 more

the way gw is compartmentalised nowadays makes it almost impossible for a setting to be written up organically or for worldbuilding to be the goal of any of their projects
>>
>>98885321
What does that even mean
>>
>>98885917
Who’s the glup in this context

>>
>>98885636
I mean it is real, but it’s clear all the silliest stuff is thus far doomer/TOWdler wishful thinking.
>>
>>98886036
>start off with the most doomer interpretation possible
>as more information releases over time it doesn't turn out to be as drastic
>existing userbase now not nearly as upset about changes because they were expecting far worse
Gw has added some new lines to their playbook I see
>>
>>98885950
The necroquake was an apocalypse
The dark skies was an apocalypse
The vermindoom was an apocalypse
Did you forget chaos won AoS already? Like literally won so hard that all they had left to do was kill each other while the realms fell into the realm of chaos and Aqshy was about to get kidnapped by Khorne
>>
>>98886085
The leakers were pretty upfront since the start that the TLW stuff is really only a cosmetic lore change rather than any Model or rule changes (outside of standard edition differences) so the most Doomer interpretation of that End Times 2.0 were hushed pretty quickly
>>
>>98886098
that doesn't address literally any of the issues underlined in my post

the great catastrophe was an apocalypse, but I don't see you or anyone else call warhammer fantasy a post apocalyptic setting
40k has more rights to be called a post apocalyptic setting but nobody is so dumb to call it that
>>
>>98886155
Nta but post-post apocalyptic might be a better term in this case.
Post apocalypse carried with it the connotation that the story or setting is still dealing with the immediate aftermath of the apocalypse.
Age of sigmar is already well in the point of new civilizations rising out of the ashes of the old world. The early iron age to the bronze age collapse.
A horizon zero dawn type of situation to use another relatively recent pop culture example.
>>
>>98886171
The civilisations in aos went back to levels that are equal or greater than the ones that existed in the old world.

You wouldn't call horizon zero dawn a post apocalyptic setting if the people in there grew back to the same tech level as the people before the apocalypse.
>>
>>98886171
Old world as in the age of myth, not *the* Old World

azyr is literally untouched since the age of myth, and many other cultures haven't received significant setbacks either out of all of these alleged apocalypses

you wouldn't call horizon zero dawn post apocalyptic if humans came from a still perfectly intact pre-apocalypse nation.
>>
>>98885772
I thought the argument was Magmadroths or whatever
>>
>>98886252
So? Is 28 days later not apocalyptic because the rest of the world is fine?
99% of aos takes places outside of azyr.>>98886252

The way to look at it is probably that the most powerful entities in the setting are going to carve out their own spheres of influence where reality is what they say it is. The newly formed world is basically the Allpoints in one big construct. Or something.

The vast majority of the paint tutorials I see use exclusively traditional paints. A very small number of the videos my algorithm shows me are contrast whatsoever and I watch probably a half dozen hours of painting videos a week.

The tutorials you see are based on your algorithm's perception of what you like. The more you follow and like traditional painting tutorials the more you will see what you want to see.
