Asking again in the new thread:Is there an armor for Space Marines that is specialized for aquatic combat? I know their armor can work in space and jump packs let them fly but is there a variant that works best for naval combat?
>>98865397>TQMy Ork warboss is always on the way to peaceful negotiations and trade meetings and gets ambushed and assaulted by horrible horrible Imperial warmongers.
>>98865397One of my player's guardsmen uses "This reminds me of Tranch"/"Tranch Flashbacks" to justify any time they space out in character or jump to violence at the first opportunity.
>>98865666Power armor is CBRN sealed, void-capable, and has been demonstrated in underwater use before to no ill effect. It does not require a specialized pattern.
>>98865774So they'd be walking on the ocean floor. Got it.
>>98865719based? I've wanted to give a guardsman a go but I was thinking of taking the mara landing massacre, given how hyped up psykers are in this systemAlso if I ever ran a dark heresy game I had a special idea for a plot on tranch that involved the iron warriors
>>98865397That art is beautiful.
Anyone have an Imperium Maledictum homebrew? Theres some decent FFG stuff in the links but no IM
Stats going to 60 seems kind of low in Maledictum, especially when theres not as many ways to boost them like in FFG. Does anyone else change the attribute cap to 70 or more?
>>98866103>>98867825I dunno, ask /hgg/
>>98867825Not particularly since the average player will have more than enough ways to do other things to boost specific actions. Even without getting to something like 50 in a stat, it's possible with the bonuses from close range and auto fire to get enough bonuses to make hits almost guaranteed.
>>98867825Stats cap at 60. Nonspecialized skills cap at +20. Specializations cap at a further +20. This allows rolling against a 100.Git gud skrub.
Has your party ever had a relatively overlooked piece of equipment that solved whatever issue your party had? Bonus points if your GM forgot it existed too.
>>98868217Right, but theres still negative modifiers. You should be able to go above the upper range to counter those negatives
>>98868244Not really. Im an inventory autist. Unless I have a character reason not to, im going to find the most efficient way to cover as many use case situations possible & have an answer for most any situation. Items or abilities. My characters are natural pack rats. The most interesting use of a nothing item i can think of is when I took a loose bolt off the floor of a factorium we went through on a tour, thinking it would be a nice souvenir or useful to counter weight a tripwire/trap/snare whatever, like I said im a packrat. Then later on after the tour we were at a noble's party, no weapons, no armor, & we get double crossed. Scheming corrupt noble has his goons grab us. Hes standing there giving a villainous monologue & our parties face a woman, threw her drink at him in the classic way. High proof stuff, very flammable. I dug in my pockets & pulled out the bolt, & threw it hard as I could at the metal floor & puddle of alcohol. Started a small fire right on the villain, he starts flailing, the goons let go of us to save their boss & we escaped & killed the guy. Totally changed the course of the campaign because Im a klepomaniac in games
>TAKEDOWN>Tier: 1>Prerequisite: None>As a Half Action or when making a Charge Attack thecharacter may declare that he is attempting a takedown againstan opponent in melee combat. He then roll to hit (using hisWeapon Skill) as normal; using any modifi ers for weapons andtalents (or the +20 bonus from Charging). If the characterhits and would have done at least one point of Damage (afterreduction for Armour and Toughness) it is ignored, but thecharacter’s opponent must make a Challenging (+0) ToughnessTest or be stunned for 1 round and knocked prone. In addition, when performing a Stun Action, the character does not suffer a–20 penalty to his Weapon Skill. So is this in addition to a normal half action attack or in place of?These are worded so shittily
>>98868570NTA but there's also positive modifiers. Do you think you should just remove the aspect of random odds from your ttrpg?
>>98868683How is that what youre getting from the conversation?
>>98868706You want to completely counter negative modifiers. That makes sense. Those exist in the system, there's positive modifiers for things like aiming, range, weapon quality, enemy size and more. Those already give you ways to negate, lessen, or completely remove negative modifiers because positive modifiers stacking in addition to base weapon specialization giving you bonuses of up to +20. That is exactly what you want, you don't need to raise the stat cap form 60 to 70 and hit the point where someone *by default* with zero modifiers can hit a 90%+ chance to hit (BS cap of 70, +10-20 bonus for weapon skill bonus from specialization/affinity) before you get to positive modifiers. Sure it can feel good to be powerful but it also completely removes chance from the game system built on chance.
>>98868778Yeah because 10% chance is sooooo game breaking. Not to mention the fact that the core book gives XP values for buying stats up to 80. 60 is just a soft threshold. Basically the border between regular guy & named character. While 60 is recommended theres nothing technically stopping you from going up to 80
>>98869055If the game allows you to reach the level of named character in a setting where the theme is "you will not be missed" then it is a flawed game.
>>98869163Maybe go make your own mud raking game then?
>>98869055I think you're aiming for a power level much higher than any FFG/C7 game.
>>98869202FFG had rules for playing Inquisitors. IM has rules for buying stats up to 80. These are perfectly well within the rules as they exist. Acting like they arent is your problem, not mine
>>98869055>rolling against a 100 sans modifiers is too piss-weak for meI'm sorry the game does not explicitly cater to your Mary Sue fantasy. Have you considered writing fanfiction instead?
>>98869240>FFG had rules for playing InquisitorsSpecifically as “this is deliberately more powerful than anything else in the system, these options exist for ranking up characters beyond what a normal game would end at" rule in a book that specifically was about playing higher power games. The rules exist sure, but they largely go beyond a standard character. Unless I remember wrong, IM even mentions that baseline humans cap out at a stat of 60 too.If you just want to auto succeed everything go play a different game legitimately, you get very little fr the system if you can't accept shit sucking some times.
So, reading enemy stat blocks, is the damage from melee weapons automatically taking in to account their Strength? Or is it listing the base damage of the weapon beforehand?
>>98869595In FFG, yes. Enemy stats include strength bonus.
>>98869269Yeah I mentioned that several times already. 60 is base but they allow for up to 80. Thats in the rules. Just because some people like misery simulators doesnt mean that others are playing the game wrong.>>98869257Didn't know a guy just being good at his job without a bunch of equipment to give him an edge was such a "Mary Sue Fantasy" bud. Im gonna have fun playing my way, I hope it makes your day worse knowing I play differently than you
>>98869759>Just because some people like misery simulators doesnt mean that others are playing the game wrong.Having decent odds of hitting or missing without doing things like taking time to aim or buying equipment to help you shoot like red dot sights isn't a misery simulator lmao. When you sign up for the "You will not be missed and will die ignoble and forgotten" game setting I think you are operating on a base misunderstanding. If you want to go up to 80 like it is *possible* but that also falls into your super special guys having higher strength and being better shots than space marines just as an easy example.
>>98869759Since you appear to have surgically removed your brain, let me spell this out for you.You don't roll to see whether you can accomplish a trivial task. It's assumed that if you have the relevant skill you can just do the thing. Rolls are for more complex tasks, or tasks that need to be rushed (for example, if you're under fire). The base difficulty of +0 has always explicitly been for 'challenging' tasks.A character who has a 60% chance of completing a 'challenging' task given any number of constraints is what you would call 'good at his job'.A character who has an 80% chance at accomplishing that task given said constraints is what you might call an expert in a field.A character with a 100% chance of completing a challenging task is what you might call a 'savant' or 'genius'.You are disingenuous and willfully ignorant of this reality, which will endear you to no one. You want a shortcut to big numbers without having to invest in skills and specializations, either because you are weak-minded and cannot comprehend the system, or because you sperg out and flip tables whenever you fail at something, whether real or imagined. You are a powergaming fucktard prone to dig for any excuse whatsoever for your character to be better than everyone else's, because you know it's the only way a subhuman like you will ever get to feel superior.Your worst failing by far is your need to inject yourself into anything and everything, and warp it around yourself. You're probably incapable of allowing another player to have a second in the spotlight without jamming yourself into it and trying to take it over. You're doing it right now, you validation-seeking slimeball, and you're lashing out at everyone who's telling you that you're wrong. I know this about you because if it were not so, you'd have shut your faggot mouth and taken your sacred little "the book says" out of here instead of lingering like the foul stench you constantly emit, you cretinous greaseball.
>>98869759If you want to powergame at least do it without going "ackshually if you see in the book it says this" like the system can't be broken in half easily normally.
>>98869853Lmao. Project harder faggot.>>98869925It absolutely can be broken in halg if youre aiming for that, but Im not talking about breaking the game. I was simply asking if anyone else allowed players to buy stats slightly higher than the soft cap like I allow my players to do (not that many of them even spend the XP at that point given how vost prohibitive it becomes) but a guy who is competent without a truck load of bonuses from stacking a million different bonuses allows for more sorry potential.>>98869842Well not every player is gonna invest in every specialty or carry the equipment. And I like to think that, no matter how competent a character becomes, they can still die in a gutter with a few bad rolls. Think about it this way. Every Catachan is basically a highly competent Rambo & these guys are just cannon fodder guardsmen doomed to die in waves.
/40krpg/, I'm bored. Tell stories of a time you didn't have to be spoon-fed huge stats to have fun or do cool shit in a game.
Besides core, the forge worlds section in the inquisitors handbook, and the lathe worlds book, are there any other dark heresy books with cybernetic options?
>>98870629Book of Judgement has the implants used to control cybermastiffs, there's a arm that makes you good at grappling, a "see smell" implant and a face changing one. Radical's Handbook also has the Malgyisian Bioforging, Transgenic Grafting, and Translator Implants
>>98870638Those grappling augments are fuckin' amazing btw. Those were a huge part in allowing me to play a brawler Explorator in a Rogue Trader campaign. those, best quality muscle grafts, good quality bionic arms, Machinator Array, and had got lucky on a starting mutation for Hulking. Highlight of the campaign was charging a Keeper of Secrets and getting lucky enough to hold the bitch in place for two rounds while the rest of the party wailed on the bitch. Good times.
>>98870755Ah, just wanting to reminisce some more about probably the funnest character I've played so far. I got another mutation at one point and rolled Hulking again, and my GM thought it was funny enough that he wanted me to keep it. So my tech-priest went from being a big brawler, to being the AdMech's answer to Frank Horrigan. He managed to survive the campaign and actually re-appeared in a later Only War campaign our group did, and of course scared the hell out of us cause he wasn't the friendliest of characters lol.
Ever since I discovered that the Exorcists are official canon, I’ve no longer felt the need to question my own homebrews with “Is this too stupid, even for 40K?”
>>98870638Cool, thanks
>>98870782>I’ve no longer felt the need to question my own homebrewsWell? What are they?
>>98871104Right now working on an Imperial agri-world that is secretly home to an underground conclave of Exodites who manipulate the human population into thinking they're friendly spirits that need to be placated. The acolytes will be tipped off when they come across an IG regiment from that planet that uses helmets that looks strangely conical and pointy.
>>98871197That’s really stupid, even for 40k
What percentage of humans are psykers? Is the number different between hive worlds, paradise worlds, or other kinds of planets?
>>98871384Roughly 1 in 1,000,000, with majority of those being very low-power-level, only having a sense of the warp, rather than straight up powers. This rate will rise if the planet in question is close to some sort of disturbance in the warp (for example those planets near the Eye of Terror had a much high rate of psyker births)
>>98871197Ignore the retard, I think the idea of a Xenos group using primitive superstitions to manipulate the local population to their whims is pretty neat and shockingly underutilized. We have worm people making cartels to manipulate people among all sorts of other groups like that, so no sense why you would have a variant like yours crop up occasionally.
>>98871197I think that's all but canonical for some worlds, loathe as I am to source from it I believe the owlcat RT game had something similar.
>>98871197That's just Bretonia.
>>98871981Bretonnia. Two no’s.
>>98871197I did almost the exact same for an agriworld except it was a few orks. The locals called them the Green Men. Turns out the agriworld was so lush because of ork fungus from a huge battle. The orks have been slowly growing their numbers in the wild underground places where humans dont go, but their about to reach a critical stage & wipe out humanity
https://www.warhammer-community.com/en-gb/articles/ntkfvqdt/new-for-necromunda-in-2027/>There’s an exciting year ahead for fans of Necromunda, with a lineup more stuffed than the questionably-sourced contents of a back-alley Scabber’s overcoat. There will be new miniatures, new terrain, new vehicles and new expansions.>However, there won’t be a Roleplay expansion.>After careful consideration we’ve decided to focus our efforts on providing even more great minis for the core game. It wasn't an issue with Cubicle 7 after all, it was a case of a management suit contracting the line after reviewing profit margins.
https://cubicle7games.com/en_EU/blog/production-update-october-23-2026STILL no official Horus Heresy RPG. We still have to suffer through faggy homebrew for a while longer.
>>98869202You can be a Daemon Prince in FFG
>>98872883You mean you can become a Daemon Prince and then become an NPC under your GMs control in FFG games. That "and if the GM likes" does a lot of work there.
>>98872880Just use Deathwatch or Dark Heresy.
>>98872917Those core rules are superseded by the ones in Tome of Decay, which give full support to and rules for playing a Daemon Prince, including Favor levels, stat boosts, and powers.
>Do you have any recurring jokes in your games?Almost anytime our Tau merc interacts with humans they respond with some variant of this
>>98872880What the fuck would you even do in a Horus Heresy RPG? Just call each other brother all the time and have the entire campaign be one long combat session? Sounds like Deathwatch but even worse.
>>98873255These people dont play games. They dont read the actual books. They just brood & bitch about people who play the actual games not playing it as a mudraking crapsack
>>98873255Those rules also literally state that it's a "with permission from your GM if they like" type rule advancement. The rules exist but they're also specifically highlighted as beyond the normal kind of power that your average game gets to, especially given how at least in my experience with BC nobody gets even close to 100 corruption and infamy before the group either fractures, dying, or the campaign ending.>>98873414Guarantee I play more than you.
I am once again asking you to share your VTT maps
>>98873476google "WH40K battle maps google drive" the first result is the one i started with
>>98870467It's been years but in a game of dh2e we were infiltrating a cathedral to plant bugs. I (a tech priest) snuck into the back halls to find the main cogitator but there was a murder servitor stalking the halls so iirc I somehow jumped or climbed up to the ceiling until it walked past and then just technical-knocked my way into the mainframe.
>>98873662Find anything juicy in there?
>>98870467Sister of battle threw a righteous fury firebomb for 40+ damage and vaporized a "possessed" cultist in scrapped carapace.Need to get my notes organized for last session's but then I'll probably post another game story. Also the lads have mentioned curiosity about Only War so I might be sending them to a jungle shithole to fight snakebite orks in the future.
I'm Daemon Prince poster, and I love FFG 40k rpgs because they let you do broken crap and because being a mudraker still feels great. Maybe I haven't taken my meds in too long, but are you guys really roasting someone for being miffed at stat caps when you could go from being an underhive street rat to being a FULL KILL TEAM MEMBER in the same campaign if you died and talked your gm into letting you? "Oh, but that's outside of intended play."It was an option meant to be used in certain circumstances, just like Daemon Princes. Stop being elitist pricks because someone wanted to be broken, that's the whole appeal of the lines like BC and DW.
>>98873685Classic. I remember I once blew the head off a dreadnought-scale automaton with a hellpistol. It didn't kill it, but the GM ruled it took a hefty malus to hit, and that saved the rest of the party's bacon. (Not mine, I was fine, bravely running away.)>>98873693I've always felt the joy of breaking an RPG over my knees had far more to do with combining skills, talents, traits, and mechanics to get a highly efficient result than it did with getting number+ babyfood, but you do you. Personally I already see a universally achievable target number of 100 as being flatly more powerful than most of the FFG line. I find its stats/skills/specializations mechanics to be elegant enough that I genuinely considered backporting it to other systems. Just a shame that the rest of it has about the mechanical depth of a puddle.
>>98873729You know for a fact that you're stacking mods in every single FFG rpg, you're still doing the elitist shit. Deathwatch just gives you a higher baseline, BC as well.
>>98873693>You can go from anything to anything if you switch characters and the GM lets youWow, it's not as if that's true in ever game in the world or anything. >I like the game because you can do broken shitFuck, and I really want to emphasise this: fuck you. You are a fag.
>>98873693I clowned on him initially because he was being pissy that negative modifiers existed and could mean he didn't have a 100% chance to succeed no matter what and that you might have to grab equipment to help out or take specific actions to do things like benefit from short range + full auto fire being effectively a +50 to your roll already without things like shooting a large target or ganging up on someone. Complaining that you can't get your base stat total to an 80% chance on something that's "challenging" before skills just comes off as being mad that there's even a miniscule chance of something going wrong.Yeah part of the fun is the ability to make things be broken and when the system has rules for it I'm not saying you play it "wrong" by using them but overall each system very specifically has a feel it's meant to give. IM is/was supposed to be the new DH for C7 games' line, sucking shit because the world sucks is half of the nature of the game, it's not the DH or BC equivalent.
>>98873749I really was very disappointed that the supposed 40K omni-rpg inherently assumed that you were the lackeys, goons, and overall expendables of some other more important guy. That immediately shitcans Rogue Trader as a game premise.
>>98873740 Keep reading a few more words after what you quoted, and I don't care if you hate me for liking things that are part of the game. Seethe.>>98873749I though IM was meant to encompass more of the old lines, or is that W&G? Willing to admit a failing on my part as far as intended scale goes. Is a baseline 80 more broken than starting with Unnatural Characteristics? Do the enemies scale with that intention, so that even a +50 might see you netting only a +20 or so if you're facing genestealers or daemonettes? When you're talking about backporting, which system are you talking about? IM?
>>98873788Oh, so you just don't actually understand any of the preceding games and have no frame of reference for how and why your proposal's fucking trash. Now I get it.
>>98873795Does acting like this make you feel good?
>>98873778>you were the lackeys, goons, and overall expendables of some other more important guy. That's been the heritage for 2/5 of the systems, more if you count that in Rogue Trader you might not be a Trader yourself depending on what your group looks like or if you count DH2e as its own separate system. You can start as a Rogue Trader heir, but yes it isn't quite the same.>>98873788W&G is the one that lets you do things like play marines and rogue traders and that "level" of people with power. IM is "supposed to" have more of the old lines in that you could work for the guard or inquisition or whatever the fuck but if you actually look through it, it really is just DH made again in terms of what you are. Starting as bumfuck scum criminals, recruited guardsmen (yes the warrior class is effectively a guardsman). >backportingI'm not that guy so I can't help you there, sorry. But in most cases for DH and older systems you're rolling against each other for a chance, so that +50 doesn't get reduced so much as the enemy might have a +20 to dodge for example, but that doesn't actually change your roll at all. And most cases of enemies don't scale so much as you just become able to fight bigger threats. The cases of starting with an Unnatural Characteristic also changed as in DH1r it was flat out doubling the bonus but then in Only War (and I think Black Crusade? I'll have to double check) it becomes a +1 instead on top of your normal existing bonus. But more than that for something like say Toughness to reduce incoming damage, there are weapons that negate or ignore Unnatural with the Felling traits but they don't do anything to the baseline stat so a high baseline will still skew you.
>>98873805I notice you fail to provide a counterargument, so I'll go on ahead and take that as confirmation. Cheers mate, have a whatever day.
>>98873821Your responses mostly read as hostile and probably bad faith. I will defend my Death Watch point by pointing out that I was mentioning it alongside Daemon Princes to show that FFG included very high level stuff multiple times and in multiple ways. Ascension paths from DH 1e were usually a bit broken as well. I wasn't trying to intimate that these things were meant to be the default, but rather that there being a high upper tier has precedent and shouldn't be shunned out of hand.
>>98873818Right, bad mental habit of mentally shortcutting opposing mods into an agregate of mine. And earlier Un Chars were much more broken, but having any kind of Unnat Char in general was a big pursuit throughout many campaigns. To go to my genestealer example, their stacked bonuses to dodging were almost as high as ours for shooting, their unnatural for AGI was something beefy, so it felt about even. I never did try doing white rooms with high bases versus built-in unnats, I should
>>98873878No worries, I figured it was something like that. I've done it myself a lot but I figured if I was trying to be specific about the extent of stacking bonuses I should use the full math there. And yeah, any kind of bonus on top of your bonus is good, that's why it's generally rare or has a high cost either of gear, cybernetics, or elite talents/packages to it.I haven't done any white room comparisons myself, but if I tried to simulate things like cover + direct penalties for shooting into melee/bonuses for ganging up on someone/fear penalties that makes the math a lot more complicated for my point to still remain about the same that you can effectively still get to high success levels with some tactics, the right talents, and planning with your skills. Obviously not everything will have Felling or other ways to remove unnaturals, but it's just my first easy example since unnatural strength/toughness is the most common I see in most stat blocks. That's easy enough to just do things like convert to a 60/80 base stat total
>>98873909The tactics aspect is what hooked me initially. I think it was a combination of having to work to land a long-las, melting someone's head when I did and a ministorum lackey panicking and putting down wild sprays actually contributing to combat.40k RPGs were magical... I really want to give the new lines a chance, but there's something about them that felt lacking the few times I played
>>98873778Its not all that difficult to modify the base rules into something approaching Rogue Trader/Being an Inquisitor. Its essentially just making your party/character act as the Patron for yourself. Patron Influence becomes "House Influence" & the Patron Boons belong to you instead of a Patron.Im hoping for intricate Voidship & colony rules/components at some point but im not holding my breath
>>98873729That sounds like a total hell of a story. With the fact that one player wants to do a storm trooper for only war if we do play, I'm expecting something fun to come from that.
>>98873406Id love to play a Mechanicum playing politics in a three way war between Loyalists, Horus aligned priests, and Hereteks of every stripe. Blades in the dark, sabotage, workplace "accidents", betrayal, working with the enemy sometimes to kill rivals solely because they ascribe to the same beliefs about the Motive Force. Sounds fun as fuck. Call in the Ordo Reductor! I have a thesis paper to present!
>>98873693I think its wild that they got so bent out of shape just by me asking if anyone else pushed the soft cap to 70. I mean, dont get me wrong, I like mud raking games, but I also like mud raking characters that slowly become powerful/competent people. Nothing is cooler narratively in my opinion than the player characters slowly realizing that "we are the calvary now". Sort of like in Starship Troopers when Rico is says "Were the old men now".And it's not like I was advocating for STARTING stats at 70 or some such. These are just deeply unhappy people I guess.
>>98873788WANG lets you be anything, even Xenos but they stratify everything into a tier system so if one guy is a space marine the Guardsmen in the party is someone like Sly Marbo instead of just a grunt. Its keyword obsessed & very restrictive but pretends you can be anything.IM is like if you mixed Only War & Dark Heresy, with just a sprinkle of Rogue Trader. The idea is that you are a group working under a powerful Patron like an regiment commander or Inquisitor or a Rogue Trader. They just expanded the Patron to being anyone that was a powerful political figure so you dont have to play under an Inquisitor but rather a Ministorum Priest or the like, which is a great idea in my opinion.
I have a bunch of updates to books in the mega.https://mega.nz/folder/ouxCVIJD#ZdGQx36Dg4I3GfM7-kyoYwFear and Loathing (v1.9.14)Changelog:-Fixed T'au Multi Spectrum Sensor ship upgrade missing VU range to autodetect silent running ships.-Earth Caste Engineer gets a few Forbidden Lores at Rank 1/3/4 and Rank 5/7/8, as well as Forbidden Lore (Ayylmao) at Rank 1/2/3.-Earth Caste Engineer gains the Initiated Maintenance talent at Rank 2, making it harder for weapons to jam / overheat / overload.-Earth Caste Engineer gains the Nanodrone Supercharge talent at Rank 7, allowing them to heal by plugging in to a power generator and hopefully not frying themselves.-T'au Sensor Tower, Sentry Turret, and Remora now have explicit drone characteristic scores attached to their entries.Additional talents were considered, but I didn't think a lot of the admech talents in HotE, SoH, and TLW really fit the earth caste (ex. integrated weapons, cybernetic overclocking, Luminen stuff, etc). The focus should be on their drones. I'll keep reviewing as I have time. The Fringe is Yours (v1.13.37)-Air Caste Engineer CL-31 Technical Drone now restores hull integrity to vehicles equal to bearer's unmodified Int bonus.>After testing in combat, repair by 1 was negligible when vehicle weapons chunk 10+ hull against targets. A small boost should help improve attrition.

This one was always the weaker choice compared to starting with a base facility. I want to boost it a bit while not stepping on the others.-Satrap's Palace now clarified to require that the second Representative must be a different type compared to the first.-Satrap's Court changed from x2 to +2 or +1/+1.>The Satrap's Court was initially garbage, boosting representative characteristic by 1. It was changed to double bonuses plus give a bonus outpost. Double bonuses, however, ended up only inflating numbers. A change to increase each Characteristic by 2 if single focus or 1/1 if double focus should be more than sufficient, especially considering the effects of the additional outpost.A future change will look at fortuitous events, and see if they are worth changing. >>98874445Don't know if this was answered or not, but i read The Good, The Bad and the Alpha Legion; and for some reason despite it being primarily a deathwatch conversion; there is the Parry skill that isn't a thing in deathwatch, that you can purchase in the homebrew. Is that a mistake or am i misreading the intent here?
>>98874923Yeah, it's intended. Since Parry doesn't usually exist in deathwatch, and parrying is a WS test as a result, those who can get Parry represents better duelists or those more skilled in melee that usual. GBAL also has the Diplomacy skill from DH1, which one particular Consul gets.
>>98874936I see. So increasing it increases the Parry ability rather than the entire WS? I assume the intent is that it's a skill dedicated to the Parry ability, rather than using just your WS.
>>98874952Correct. It functions exactly like the skill in "future" systems.
>>98873909>>98873878To be honest, IM has more +1SL (which is basically equivalent to Unnatural Characteristics in late FFG) abuse. Though one thing I do think is very elegant game design is when making Opposed Tests you compare the amount of SLs from your roll against your opponests SLs. So many games just have an awkward "roll under your skill but also roll under your opponents roll to succeed" which kinda defeats the purpose of having a high skill/success change.

>>98875660Primaris still possess things like the Red Thirst and Black Rage because those are warp effects from primarch death. However, things like the Imperial Fists' missing organs were fixed. The reason a lot of "defects" were there was because the Imperium began using the Inductii method during the late Heresy to rush out marines, and some organs were deliberately not implanted (The fists reasoned you don't need the betcher's gland or susan membrane if your purpose is to stand on a wall for 15 hours and die). As time went on, the Imperium forgot there was a Legionary process, and kept using the Inductii process out of inertia. When Cawl made Primaris, he used the original Legionary method, which took a bit longer but was more stable. This also restored the use of all missing organs, since he had original samples from before the Inductii process, as well as allowed the Space Wolves to recruit from other worlds again. He retained the use of modern hypno-indoctrination though.

Both blood of martyrs and the inq's handbook have sister of battle careers, what makes them different and is one better than the other?
>>98877025Blood of Martyrs is a proper battle sister and then also ranks/careers for non-militant sisters as well as special roles like Seraphim or Celestan. Inquisitor Handbook is a Novitiate. Battle Sister is a monster for combat and ass at most investigation.
>>98877025Inquisitor's handbook is lower power, where' you're a dreg of a trainee of a sister. Blood of Martyrs makes you a full battle sister with power armor and bolter, so it doesn't fit the power level of the basic guardsman, scum, and adept who have to scrounge for bullets.
>>98876606>He retained the use of modern hypno-indoctrination though. Was Crusade era indoctrination better or worse?
>>98878301Literally everything in 40k was better in the past
>>98878301Legionary hypno-indoctrination taught combat tactics and instilled the normal hatred of the xenos and loyalty to one's brothers and Primarch, but still preserved the underlying core of the person, letting them remain who they were while forging them into a super soldier. After the Heresy War, the Imperium decided that free will to choose the wrong choice was the problem, so they made "modern" hypno-indoctrination. This painfully erased the original person, replacing it with pre-approved thoughts and limiting the marine's emotional and cognitive abilities, turning the marine into a biological automata that could only operate in specific pre-approved ways. It was safer that way, better that than another heresy war because someone had free will.
>>98878397Is the emotion-overiding not done by more character-driven chapters, like the Salamanders or Space Wolves?
>>98878418Yet to be seen. What should be the consequences of this? How would the officers of that guard unit react when the warrior returns to them and tells them he summarily executed the commissar after a fire fight was over? How would the Interrogator react to news that his acolytes are executing Imperial servants in the normal procedures of their duty? Right now I'm thinking I have the warrior arrested by the guard for military trial when they return to their base camp, but I'm not sure how it'd go.

He shot a symbol of Imperial Authority, without warning nor explination, that's treason.Solutions:1-The Guard Officers/Munitorium clerks might bitch and whine about it, but he's using the =I= to overstep their authority; Have officers or clerks pass passive-aggressive comments when that PC is around them or asking for things (which they 'suddenly' have no more of, or require alot of paperwork to fill- good thing for literacy and bureacracy knowledge!)2-Fight fire with fire; have the Officers/Munitorium clerks file reports regarding the PC's actions up the chain or command, the Interrogator/Inquisitor will surely get ahold of the reports soon enough.3-Nothing happens as everyone is afraid of moving against the PC due to his =I= Status, but his superior, an interrogator in this case, would chew him raw and spit him out, the cloak of the =I= is not to be used ot hide their fould deeds.
>>98883407>>98884083It's hard to make a determination here based off of the information that is provided. Is the Commissar within his right to execute a guardsman? Yes, but there is a level of "nuance" to this. Where the guardsmen pinned down due to suppressive fire or were they cowering behind cover and on the verge of breaking? If it was the former the killing of the Commissar is honestly justified even for the Munitorum as this flippant waste of guardsmen lives is extreme waste. Especially as it is likely to be veteran units that are performing tasks for the Inquisition and not some penal battalion. If it is some penal battalion or the men were on the verge of abandoning their posts then I'd have the Officio Prefectus confront the warrior character in some way. I would caution using the "lol Commissar blasts random guard trooper" as even in lore(books) it's not as common as things like Dawn of War exaggerates it to be,
>>98883407That dude is dead & anyone in the room who didnt drop his ass immediately are dead too. The Inquisitor he belongs to is also going to loose status for it as well. The ONLY thing that could save them is a cover up. The Inquisitor could theoretically sanction the action retroactively, but hes gonna have to take a big hit to his own credibility & status. He would have to think that the warrior is somehow worth keeping, rather than immediately disavowing him & killing him. The other players would be immediately suspect for not killing the traitor immediately as well. You do NOT kill a Commisar without a LOT of evidence that he needed killing. He was doing his job when he shot the guardsmen. Even if he was being a dick about it, its still his decision to make. The acolytes have ZERO authority or reason to even reprimand the Commisar let alone murder him in the field of battle. If a acolute has a problem with a Commisar its something they should talk to their Inquisitor about, not to take action themselves, unless its something blatent like chaos worship. The Imperium is compartmentalized for a reason. Jurisdiction is something that entire wars have been fought over. What the fuck was that player thinking? Honestly thats one of those things thats guaranteed to torpedo a game.
>>98884139Theres no nuance. Even if the Commisar was failing in his duty with that action, its not up to some rando attache to an Inquisitor to execute him in the middle of battle as punishment.
>>98884139>>98884320 Said it.The objective was ahead, they got stopped for being shot at alot, the Commissar shot whoever was talking about going back/stopping/staying here and was shot for it to complete Objective X. Only War does break down the #BLAM# myth, the Guardsmen seeing Commissar as a sign of an important action instead of 'standard' operation.>>98884315 Explains the background politics repercution of the PC's act (Warriror, so IM I assume?)The Inquisitor will be getting flaked for that, the Interrogation will certainly get a shit ton of reprimand from the Inquisitor, which will all fall down to the Acolyte and his Companions..
>>98883407>How would the officers of that guard unit reactHorrified. Commissars are attached to them rather than under their command will demand he be arrested, tried, and executed, in whatever order is most convenient. Even if the interrogator didn't think the same they would value the commissariat's good graces over whatever he might have to offer. If anything he won't get away with merely being shot.
>>98884315I'm a little surprised by the people saying that the Inquisitor would give two shits about it. The guy with unlimited authority outside of his own peers does not concern himself with anything as small as a complaint that a political officer died during deployment. At best the person raising questions might get a "are you questioning my mission and devotion to the throne? Do you believe you know more of my goals than I?" type of 'do not fucking question me' warning message from my reading of inquisitors and their general attitude to their pawns. Sure, they could dispose of the acolyte but that's directly their own effort of having someone train the warrior and supply him being put to waste, why should they care about one of the billions of billions of commissars? The good grace of an institution means nothing when a rosette grants you supreme authority. Even in Only War the notion of Commissars executing their own is specifically said to be overstated and reserved for true cowardice in the face of duty, like breaking from the unit and trying to desert or flee, not something as simple as taking cover from suppression fire or an enemy kill zone. And that's the system where you can directly do executions as a commissar to restore wounds and shove people hack up from being down out of pure fear of you.People act like Comissars don't semi-regularly get fragged by Catachans, do you guys read the books?Hell this is still true in modern 40k. Darktide's own Major Morrow killed his unit's Commissar for throwing them into meat grinders when they needed to retreat without knowing about the commissar’s chaos corruption, had no proof because it happened during the heat of battle, and was grabbed by the inquisition for it and being part of the first war for Armageddon. All there is for your player is that at the end of the day if he's directly more useful to the inquisition in the moment than that commissar was, the commissariat can and will be told to pound sand.
>>98883407>>98885572I replied to the wrong guy, my bad.
>>98885572The player is two layers of authority removed from the inquisitor. And even for them the difference between someone obeying a rosette and cooperating matters. Plus there's a big difference between, "the commissar was taken out by ork snipers during the assault" and "I decided to shoot him afterwards just to show off the authority I was borrowing."
>>98885572Acolytes are disposable and easily replaced. An Acolyte doing shit like that and leaning on their Inquisitor's authority is a liability. Inquisitors do not suffer liabilities.
>>98885901Yeah, I should clarify my argument wasn't that the acolyte should get to throw around the inquisition's authority. Boucher rather that someone above them like a handler or one of the proper underlings keeping an eye on them would nudge some of that influence along to effectively tell the people putting up a fuss about the dead commissar "move along, nothing to see here" and call it a day.I fully agree that outright owning up to killing the commissar is a dumb move, yeah. But at the end the guy was asking for what his next moves were to deal with the player, and I wanted to highlight options that weren't just punishing the entire team.>>98885958Disposable and easily replaced for sure, it that doesn't mean you should just throw them away at an inconvenience. Life is the Emperor's currency, but it should still be spent well and for meaningful things. I could just as easily see the inquisitor killing/servitorizing the offending acolyte and having them delivered to the officers as I could see them sending a communique to the officer's superiors telling them to knock off interfering in an investigation if they know what's good for them. At the end of the day how lenient an inquisitor is, for a given value of leniency anyway, is up to the GM.If he wants realism, this isn't anywhere near the first time someone that an inquisitor is using for their own goals gets special permission to bend or outright ignore standard conventions of authority. At the same time it is just as realistic to have the warrior go through a faux trial, slap them with a bomb collar and officially put them in a penal squadron, and keep using them, or just execute them there.Overall I fully admit part of what I wrote was inspired by annoyance that everyone was defaulting to "He's fucked" over a person that even in universe is seldom liked and dies just as often to normal guardsmen with halfhearted reasoning, and wanting to offer an alternative.
>>98886913An Acolyte misusing Inquisitorial authority is not an inconvenience, it's dangerous because of how Inquisitorial authority works. It's based on reputation, and letting an Acolyte do that and get away with it makes the Inquisitor look really, really inept. An Inquisitor who looks inept is one who doesn't have people do what they say, because ultimately the absolute authority an Inquisitor holds is extremely limited - and Acolytes are disposable peons. If they want to have an Inquisitor cover for them, they have to be worth the reputation loss, and a situation like this is where the Inquisitor has to weigh the loss of authority over the life of the Acolyte. And an Acolyte is not worth much. For gameplay reasons, this should for obvious reasons not lead to a player character getting unceremoniously capped, but it should warrant a "DO NOT OVERSTEP YOUR STATION AND DO AS YOU ARE TOLD" warning, a clear reminder of who's boss and who has the actual authority and who's a disposable peon in the organisation.
>>98887052There is a cost to being a nuisance to your superiors and the ones that own you and half of Dark Heresy is built on the "you belong to me" relationship with your average group of acolytes. An inquisitor can only end up looking inept in the eyes of other inquisitors and those who aren't pants-shitting terrified of them like rogue traders (even these flit with who can order/reject who), marines (varying amounts of cooperation) and possibly the mechanicus/ecclisiarchy but those two involve more nuance, and us outside observers. A member of the highest authority spook organization saying that they're taking over and aren't to be interfered with their work is going to get a "yes sir" from your average guard or navy officer and any questions or opinions they have kept to themselves and maybe their private journals, assuming they aren't mindwiped anyway.Though in this situation I don't think the Acolyte in the actual summary had mentioned using inquisitor authority at all beyond that anon saying that was his plan. Well not beyond "take it up with my boss" in the classic enlisted soldier way, though that is arguably an overstep in itself. And much of my argument of killing one commissar being not that big of a deal was involving only those higher ranking and more trusted using that authority, not the acolyte. It's pretty easy to say that someone like an acolyte causing trouble will be remonstrated properly and then have them never be seen again, whether they end up killed, surgically altered to look different, replaced with someone else or just sent to a different zone after some appropriate amount of neural scourging or punishment. From anyone outside it looks damn clear they got punished and disappeared for their troubles, or you can obviously clearly punish them in other ways like confiscating gear or next period of downtime involving being black bagged by their superiors and reconditioned if you want to involve mechanical effects and the player's chill.
>>98885572The Inquisitions authority is a paper tiger. Thats why the player's breach of etiquette is such a big deal.
I know Custodes don’t have gene-seed implants, but are they created in a way that gives them Space Marine implant abilities? Are Custodes able to see in darkness and breath water like Space Marines are?
>>98887371Inquisitorial authority is no where close to a paper tiger. A single inquisitor was able to force Gabriel Seth and his command squad, a titan, and entire divisions of troops to go personally destroy a chaos titan that might fall into the ork hands. Then once she got there it turned out to be a loyalist titan that she stole, then proceeded to leave the system with it. No one stopped her from leaving. This was during the 3rd war for Armageddon.
>>98887424It's never really stated, but presumed that they do, but by natural genetic perfection instead of implanted organs.
>>98887371What? It's a paper tiger if your standard for authority is the god emperor himself. Inquisitorial authority is "yes I have the authority, questioning me is enough to earn an execution of your entire squadron if not your regiment" levels of fuck you power.

As he traversed another wide stone archbridge he saw the cold, sunless remains of an entire city. Even from his maddening altitude above the grave-city he sensed movement inside the black eyes of glassless windows: the ghosts of a distant past, staring up in hollow and sullen silence at the passing of their descendants and inheritors. What was this place when it stood in the sun? He wasn’t certain whether he thought the words or whispered them aloud, until he received an answer.‘Kath Mandau,’ a voice murmured across the vox.Zephon didn’t tear his eyes from the dead city five hundred metres below. Impossibly, there was wind here. A soft breeze that tasted of dust.‘Diocletian?’ he voxed back.‘You asked what this place once was. It was the city Kath Mandau. Capital of the nation Sagarmatha, also called Nehpal. It was once the roof of the world.’‘That is very poetic.’ And now it lies dead, part of the Palace’s foundations, remaining only in name in the precincts above. ‘Thank you, Diocletian.’ -Master of Mankind

I need help with some lore. How powerful was Malcador? If The Emperor was a 10 out of 10 Malcador was what? A 8? 9?
>>98897892In a regular scale of 1-10, or as in psy rating from the FFG system? If it's the first, I would say an 8, while Magnus is 9.If it's the second, I think the psy rating maxing at 10 is to reflect the most powerful psychic beings you can find, like a Lord of Change. But characters like Magnus and the Emperor are much stronger than that. So there isn't really a way to tell, since the system wasn't made with characters like this in mind.
>>98897892Malcador the Hero was the strongest regular mortal psyker. He held the Throne until he was atomized
>>98898119I would love to play a tech priest character who's always surrounded by a cloud of servo skulls. Are they useful in the ffg titles?
This week, Kill-Team Thule made a C'tan Shard run with its tails between its legs.
>>98898507Good news bad news. As far as I know, servo skulls themselves are not that useful. I think they give you a tech-use bonus, and more of them can use the help action. But in quite a few system you can get at 100+ with all the bonus without them. Now, servitors, that changes things. In Only War (the guardsmen system), you can play an engine-seer and get a advanced specialization with the hammer of the emperor supplement (I think). One of the specializations allow you to have multiple servitors, you can get to like, 8. Not all have to be combat servitors, but they can be, and you can use your turn to shoot with all of them, at the same time. The same book also has more servitor models. I almost played that, but I changed my mind and went with Crimson Exemplar, which basically turns you into Adan Smasher. If your DM is cool with homebrews, there's one made by the community with a bunch of ad mech stuff, including Rustalker, But the balance isn't that good. The name is Mars Needs Women
A Tithe of Blood and Rot IVRetrieving the records from the ogryn security master, the acolytes poke around in the various trading stalls aboard the voidstation; manned by workers or travelers who never left or people unable to leave. Paying a shady looking card player for some information on how to get to the lower levels of the station's storage bays as fast as possible, they get directed to one of a dozen recessed metal doors in a corridor, knocking on it in the right pattern and getting allowed in, intimidating their way past an attempted bribe. The entire group has a laugh at Venria getting halfway stuck in the narrow passageway due to the bulk of her armor trying to squeeze through a small worker's duct, scraping along the metal and shearing off paint as she is reduced to walking like a hunchback thanks to the short ceiling. But eventually they crawl out of the tunnel and into the bottom layer of the cargo stacks, where one half is so large it descends into darkness quickly while the other is full of guttersnipes and civilians bustling about for the local authority, the keyhand's gang; the ones in charge of most of the couriers, inter-district smuggling, and also the various clans in charge of actually arranging for movement of goods up and down the levels so it can be transported on and off ships and to or from storage cells. Marching through the bustling crowd, which clears out due to the intimidating sight of someone wearing power armor with a death-mask on it, they meet with the head of the community and titled Keymaster Cassel Oort. After some conversation and leveraging the "hey fucked up shit is going on, you don't have to believe us but the station boss said let us do it" mix of bluffing and truth they manage to get him to escort them to the locker and storage bay that the tainted shipments were coming from.
>>98899092Within the main storage bay are a few rows of the same drums of grain, owing to a shipment just coming in, all lined up neatly and orderly and waiting to be delivered to the system capitol. Demanding it be burned and the containers disposed of, they proceed to fail next to every single investigation or examination related roll in the room outside of noting that a floor drain has green stains on the grating.>this is a surprise that'll hurt us laterMoving on from that, they decide to investigate a storage locker which is really more of a halved cargo container that got cemented into a wall to be a storage unit. They find a logbook of someone arranging payments, fail to notice signs of someone tampering with the lock or a tiny tripwire connected to a glass jar, but investigate discarded clothes and jars of more seeds. Given that the gang leader was very upfront about him having the only key to the locker they prepare to execute him if another round of realizing that in a party that's specced for combat only one person even has training in awareness and their forbidden/scholarly lore only has one person dip into Chaos while their knowledge of the imperial cult doesn't help them at all here. But the npc is all too eager to prove his innocence and recognizes the clothing as belonging to one of the loading crews and after a brief excursion to grab her that start questioning. Initially it's Durrana leading the interrogation because the player has the most rpg experience but it's actually Morven that gets some answers by frisking her and asking about various posessions she has from a little bundle of dirt and seeds wrapped in a cloth, a handkerchief with grey fibers dotting it from when the worker coughs, and unsent letters to a "Mother Marsh" that turn out to be to a community figure that the worker and their "communal support network" follow.
>>98899098Other than Venria having to roll Willpower to resist beating the woman's skull in after she talks about "your Emperor" and indicates that she doesn't worship him due to the administratum and ministorum giving zero shits about the people of her agriworld after a massive fire and being offered the idea that she could just *not* worship him on Terra, the interrogation is very much successful and they hand her off to the station-queen for even more interrogation while working on their next move.>In the background, one of them picked up a clouded white jar that's effectively a fungus bomb so that's a ticking clock that they didn't notice because of impossibly bad awareness rolls. As the damaged cap slowly weakens from chemicals poured on it by that tripwire, it'll be an infection of a nurglite corrupted plant waiting to hit victims that have a negative immune system like most dregs.

What would happen if it came to light that a Space Marine chapter's geneseed was developed from the lineage of a traitor legion?
Crawling out of the primordial ooze with some fresh OC, in the form of a new update for Untitled Animal Book, my homebrew about playing animals in Only War (in the style of Watership Down, War Horse or The Call of the Wild). Update 1.0 adds rule for playing bears, pigs, birds, horses and goats, as well as dramatically expanding the range of chargen options available, new detailed rules for birdflight, and a ton of customization options for cavalry games.https://www.mediafire.com/file/jrnvumowa249fl5/Untitled_Animal_Book_1.0.pdf/fileEnjoy!
>>98899371Being a perpetual so he was long lived enough to learn all kinds of psychic bullshit and strong enough to delete any daemons that came for him compared to your average sparkhead that dies the minute they slip too much and get possessed or explode. Also being one of Big E’s friends.>>98900169Probably a penitent crusade with no end date or extermination right there.
>>98900169The Inquisition would send a purge fleet, but the moment they arrive over the chapter's homeworld, a giant bald cuck in a beanie physically manifests over the world and swats it away, declaring "THOU SHALT NOT TOUCH MINE CHILDREN", and a new Black Library novel comes out.
>>98899371I don't think there is a clear answer to that, He was a perpetual during the dark age of technology. Maybe he could just have been an alpha level psyker that is more powerful than even others of his class, specially after millennia of training and learning his abilities.Or maybe he did partake in rituals to increase his power, and carried powerful artifacts that also increased his abilities. At the end of the day, if you want to know more about how powerful an alpha level psyker can be, there was one who escaped capture in Eisenhorn Malleus (I think). He was able to simultaneously look through the eyes of an entire hive city, and take control of individuals from afar. The further away from him, the easier it was for other psykers to resist it. But he was able to sabotage an entire parade filled with Astra Milllitarum, Astartes and the Inquisition. He was the reason Ravenor became bound to that chair.
>>98900169Depends on who finds out. In Fabius Bile Clonelord he confirmed the imperium was practicing hybridization of geneseeds. I wouldn't be surprised if they were mixing traitor geneseed there. That's why so many chapters have an "unknown" origin. They blame it on being lost to time, when a select few know the truth. Which might mean not even the marines of the chapter know it.So there is a radical part of the imperium sanctioning those things. If a more puritan part finds out, there would probably be a secret war to try and cover it up. The fate of the chapter is in the hands of whoever wins. This radical party might be bigger than most think. After all, marines who remained loyal to the imperium from traitor chapters can be welcomed into the deathwatch as a blackshied. So what the chapter does for the imperium can affect what happens next greatly, since more people might be inclined to cover it up to keep efficiency going
>>98892715I had a whole thing with a Lara Croft knock of discovering a piece fulgurite and becoming a Sensei but that fell off as my storylines became increasingly ass.
>>98901068Kinda sounds interesting, until the Sensei part. I don't like them that much.I ran a campaign that ended with the party derailing a ritual from the Ten Thousand Eyes and waking up the Lion. I ended the campaign with them in a forest, looking at a lake and seeing the Lion in the reflection, but he couldn't see them back. This is one of the first scenes in the Lion Son of the Forest book. When I'm in doubt on what to do, I just try to marry events in the campaign with stuff that happens in different books. Had them finding the servo-skull from Vaults of Terra, too. Which fits very well with the narrative of that book, since they also didn't care for it and ignored the one thing capable of warning the Imperium the throne is about to fail, lol!
>>98901127Yeah there was another draft about tech archaeology but I couldn't find the right blend of characters to make it interesting.

>>98901191Thanks for sharing.
>>98901127How is the plot line of "The Throne is failing" going? Is it still a current thing or did it get discarded like the Sensei and the Eldar God of the Dead?
>>98901481Probably discarded, at most solved offscreen like "Oh, Cawl went check on things, saw it and fixed it"But it might lead somewhere. Writers from the Black Library say that, when they see someone do something cool, they don't mess with it, so the guy who thought of it can be free to take to the direction they want. So, I suspect that, if we see it again, it will be by the same author.
>>98901481>>98901635Nah they bought a few centuries using the Dark Eldar so that's gonna be forgotten for the foreseeable future. There was a thing about them replicating the throne so their city in the warp doesn't get invaded by demons as often.
>>98901680You... don't remember how it ended do you? They were doing the trade. It was being handled by Ad Mech, the custodes found out bc of the inquisition, the inquisitor and the custodes took the portal to Cmmorragh to crash the trade. They got there, found out what was happening, and approved. The DE were going to fix the throne in exchange for keeping the spare parts and study the design to make their own, since the city is starting to fall to Slannesh. The Inquisitor finds out they aren't going to stop there, and are actually trying to clone the Emperor to have someone to sit upon their throne. The inquisitor finds out and tells the Custodes. They go ape shit and start fighting. I don't remember why, but they do something and the entire place is about to explode. They try to leave, but fail, a servo-skull belonging to the inquisitor falls into the webway. The place blows up, literally everyone who knew about it (Drukhari included) died, the servo skull emerged in the middle of some bushes in an unknown location and time in the galaxy, slowly failing, too.

>>98902586>stuck the inquisitor's pet blank in a freezerstorytime?
>>98902679>[1]Alright, here it goes.It was M.42, the ulthwe helped the IM with the whole Ivrayne Guilliman thing. They were facing a Nid invasion in a Maiden World. Since it would spill to the IM anyway and they had worked together before, IM and Aeldari were collaborating again. The killteam was dispatched to assassinate a Maleceptor. Since the creature is a powerful psyker, the inquisitor sent his most powerful pariah with them.Since the guy is kinda invaluable I felt like it would be fun to make him a fucking asshole. So, the entire time he was antagonizing and being a jerk to the killteam.Eventually, they made to some ruins where there was a small resistance of aeldari, but a portal that would send them way behind enemy lines, directly to the maleceptor, nuking him with the pariah.Since Eldars have a superiority complex and are extremely arrogant, they also a little rude, but not too hostile. Half the team passed through the portal, but the pariah and the last surviving eldar (there was a combat there) were having an argument.Since the eldar is a filthy xeno, and there was no one there to tell the tale, the pariah shot him. However, the Ultramarine had a problem with that, since they did help bring back his primarch and they were not the enemy at that moment. So, while half the team was getting buttfucked by nids at the other side of the portal, the other half was arguing with the pariah. Eventually the black templar had enough and smacked the guy, leaving him unconscious, so they brough him along. They linked up, won the combat, and the apot used a bunch of chems to make sure the pariah would be alive, but wouldn't wake up for a while. They went on to complete the mission. So, they went back to the ship, everyone was busy, so they didn't had anyone waiting for them there, so they decided to stick the pariah in stasis at the apotecarium, using their apotecary to make any excuses.
>[2]After that, they were thinking on how to explain this to the inquisitor. They were debating having the apotecary kill him and tell everyone he was wounded on the mission, and he tried to save his life.I was thinking of all the fun stuff I could do with a dark secret like this. But the Ultramarine decided to risk it while the guy was fine and just take any punishment for hitting the guy instead of facing trial for killing him and trying to hide it.They released the pariah, the captain called them later, asked for an explanation, the ultramarine rolled a charm test, and he passed. Captain laughed, they lost 2 renow and had half req for the next mission. They were given a penance to get those 2 renow back, every member of the killteam had to kill an elite enemy in melee, across any number of missions.

Where is the pilot located in an Imperial Knight? If the “head” is ripped off, is the pilot killed, or is it like. Gundam and the pilot is still alive?
>>98903559Almost certainly, and it’s probably even worse around warp fuckery stuff. Problems are not “solved” in 40K, they’re made actively worse or ignored.

>>98902523>>98901817Which books were that from? I remember that the plotline did initially get explored in the first Watchers in the Throne book but then the DE guy goes kill crazy and the rest of the books aren't about fixing the throne.
>>98901191Nice, hopefully it gets leaked soon.
>>98903371I didn't want to go too hard since a decent amount of the killteam was rather new to 40k. But I was laughing my ass off the whole time, specially when they were wasting time arguing while everyone else that crossed the portal were getting their ass handled to them by a Carnifex. That shit was hilarious. I did ask them if they wanted to go Black Crusade, they said no, so I decided to take the other direction and have it just a funny moment for the team.>>98903925It's the Vaults of Terra series, it has 2 short stories, one before the first book (Agent) and another after the first (The Interrogation of Salvor Lermentov) as an audio drama. Didn't listen/read any of the short ones, so I don't know how they are.The main books are:>1) Carrion Throne>2) The Hollow Mountain>3) The Dark CityI found some of the characters and the pacing a little boring. But the premise is very good, there is something creating monsters in the underhive of Terra. It evolves to the Fabricator General making deals with the Drukhari to desperately fix the failing golden throne.

>>98906483What exactly is going on with the ghoul stars?
>>98906492>>98906483The Ghouls stars is a region with several stuff going on. Including the Bone Kingdom of Drazak, ruled by Valgûl Oltyx, from twice dead king . That's an entire dynasty made of flayed ones who can teleport inside ships. Other necrons, when succumbing to the flayer virus go there. So I don't think it would be valuable for them to use the Celestial Array (the weapon you were talking about) to destroy the region. That being said, there are some other shit going on in there, like strange xenos artifacts in some worlds. I'm assuming there are going to be rats and other vermin on military ships throughout the Imperium. Who deals with them? Is that a job for servitors or do most ships let them breed to use as food for people?
