Should we just go with the Drac 3058 upgrade? I don't know if we have all the available tech.
One alternative is giving up a ton of armor to upgrade the ML to an LL

It's kinda a weird situation where the idea is using our locally produced FE 140s to upgrade them from their smaller ICE 105s, but not quite having all the tech for the Drac upgrade variant.
One thing we could do, add two MLs for 3 total, and an extra ton of armor for 7.5 tons
Another possible idea is a full refit, by doing the 3 MLs, but trade the 2 SRM6s for 1 MRM20 with two tons of ammo. Armor would still be 6.5
>>
>>98848000
Which galaxy is that? Looks awesome.
>>
Going off the idea from last thread of a unique pirate variant of a 70 ton heavy mech that's been refitted with a tiny 140 Leenix fusion engine to go as fast as an urbanmech / annihilator.
Using the Cataphract as a baseline since its a capellan frankenmech. (And it had the hardpoints I wanted mainly, the chassis could be anything from a warhammer to a Archer or Grasshopper)

I call it the Urbanmech II
70 tons
Movement 2/3
3 AC10s
4 tons of ammo
slightly stripped leg armor

With a fancy refit for those pirate captains who can afford the tech
3 LBX10s
5 tons of ammo
2 ER Medium lasers for backup (Can also come in regular medium laser depending on budget, or 3 medium lasers for those who can live with 4 tons of ammo)
10 double heatsinks (optional, depending on budget)

Should fit nicely with the theme of "honorubu duels in the middle of a field of grass lilies" with lots of smaller mechs and hovercraft for support when people don't want to do that.

Chalcas as the concept of LAMs are, was clan goliath scorpion angry that the other clanners were destroying star league relics like LAMs and LAM factories? Surely CGS would at least put LAMs in a relic warehouse instead.
>>
>>98848838
Considering the Clans had LAMs, including a vintage Phoenix Hawk LAM that they gave to the Wolf's Dragoons before they infiltrated the inner sphere, the Clans presumably had quite a few in storage.
Nova Cats are particularly deranged, and destroying an ancient, hyper rare factory like the last Star League era LAM line in existence would have had clans like Goliath Scorpion frothing at the mouth in rage if they'd been there.
Like, regardless of how you feel about using one, that's still an incredibly rare SLDF relic that was just destroyed.

Throw in a bunch of fast hovercraft, looted panthers, other lights, maybe a couple of mediums and you have a fierce pirate force with a unique combat doctrine that can cheaply replace fusion engines when they inevitably get wrecked due to something going FUBAR
Likely using their vast navel assets to rapidly relocate their signature walking turrets.
Being really hard to dig out of a urban environment, allowing them to hold a population ransom and then offering 1v1 or lance v lance duels to settle things without infrastructure damage.

We're just a Banana republic controlled by clanners aren't we? Maybe that's why the capital has elementals patrolling the streets...
Who was the idiot who took out a fox credit loan to pay for the infrastructure to build a tiny mech factory in a system constantly bombarded by carrington events!? That drilling project must have cost a minor fortune to rent in industrial mechs and clan labor caste work hours. With the shittiest, most worthless mechs walking off the assembly line so the clanners can easily control us militarily?
Or so the clanners think as the mini factory buried undergrounded intended for building Adder sized mechs, gets retooled to build ultra slow heavy mechs from ancient SLDF files.
It's not like anyone has DRM on Warhammer, or Archer, or Grasshopper specs by this point they're ancient designs, it just depends on what weapons they managed to steal that week.
By the clanners own STUPID laws of zellbrigen they have to march face first into these slow as fuck heaviest.
No retreat
No surrender

Man I just moved from a city with a pretty big BattleTech scene to one where they barely exist. After weeks I finally was able to meet up with them and the fuckers smelled so good damn bad. I always thought it was hyperbole when people complain about somebody smelling so bad that they burn nostrils..but holy shit this group did that.

Idk anons just kinda depressed after that experience. I'm pretty sure I have PTSD from my time in Afghanistan in 2010 and having to crawl over dead afghanis during a firefight. So dirty body smells trigger me.

I guess I'll just have to drive an hour and half one way back to my old city to play every once in awhile.
>>
>>98849605
Not being mean but should I see someone if I miss those smells and feelings? I did a tour in Iraq and one in Afghanistan and killing terrorists didn’t faze me like shooting a dog did.

When I was going to ETS they talked to me about seeing a counselor but I said I felt fine. But fuck I keep thinking about being able to do what I did legally and have daydreams about it.

Anyway what kind of mechs do you have? I just picked up the Gray Death lance pack.
>>
>>98849622
I'm not really bothered by what I did...but the smells man idk just ever since I came back when I smell bad body odor or something I get irrationally pissed and my heart rate goes up.

I have a lot. I got the alpha strike and alpha strike scoring sands mechs and a couple from the packs. I really want to get some elementals or inner sphere battle armor but I'm having a hard time finding them
>>
>>98849634
Your brain has associated that smell with a life and death situation. So whenever you smell something close to that again, your brain immediately sends out the order to your entire body that it's in a life or death scenario.
Armchair internet therapist would be that exposing yourself to what causes the reaction and making a conscious effort to calm yourself and consciously tell yourself that you're not in mortal danger would be the way to counter it. However it's also possible that your brain will refuse to ever rewire itself against that instinct because it has cemented that having that reaction in response to that smell kept you alive.

Due to work, I haven't yet had time in order to setup the RAT and other rolls for the Dropship factories and Heavy/Assault factory.

However, here's the Capital Vote strawpoll, set to end in two days:
https://strawpoll.com/jVyG2kjR1Z7

And so we have something to roll for, let's figure out the Primary and Secondary colors of the realm's symbol.

Primary
>R: 1d256-1
>G: 1d256-1
>B: 1d256-1
>Hue: 1d100
>Sat: 1d100

Secondary

>G: 1d256-1
>B: 1d256-1

These wouldn't strictly be the only colors, but we're probably going to be needing to dig ourselves out of a hole of ones that barely work together.

There is a Capellan warcriminal among these pirates, I can tell.
I approve good taste.

>>98849428
I would forget the Grasshopper completely for a few reasons. It's 1st SW mech so no SLDF files. It's super rare and OOP until 3064 when the Dracs put it back into production. It's infamous for the rarity of parts, only second to the Clint. Also, the companies totally do have copyright on stuff and work their international licensing like crazy. You should see the in-universe lawsuits.

I know the urge, because it is a good mech, but I think the Archer as the most common Heavy in existence is the best choice. It also has hands, which the Whammy and Catapult does not, and it is famous for having so many variants it's impossible to list them all, so gives huge freedom in design. You want to mount 2 PPC's in the chest? A-OK!

>and maybe a stinger/wasp variant if want a 7/11 mook/scout
I was actually interested in what that would look like. I ended up dropping the JJs, and traded the ML for an LPPC, I feel like the boost in ground speed and fire range was enough to justify losing jumps.
I thought about maybe adding FF and/or dropping the MGs for Flamers and maybe TSM to compliment that, but I figured a mook mech shouldn't be deviating that hard.

The inclusion of the LPPC would imply this is variant a little later down the line when the state has had some years of legitimacy and time for trade deals to be made.

It simply means at the zenith jump point of the system, there's a recharge station that allows for Jump Ships to recharge their drives faster. Campaign Ops mentions that the fastest possible time to recharge without one of those is 175 hours while having one of those can bring it down to 100 hours, and generally speeds things up even if the star doesn't allow for reaching those maximum speeds.

Significant Raw Resource Production is a generalized buff that indicates the planet is able to produce raw resources across the board in excess of what their local economy can turn into finished products. Other planets can do stuff with individual raw resources (I dunno about anyone else, but Ouroboros screams like it is a heavily agricultural/aquacultural focused world) and its of course not a buff to finished products, but unless you are looking for just one specific form of raw resource, they'd be the best bet to have any get a variety of stuff.
>>
>>98849803
>You want to mount 2 PPC's in the chest? A-OK!
Ah yes, the Arkher
>>
>>98849822
The reduction in recharge time is because they beam microwaves to the jumpsails of ships instead of making them charge directly from the local star. Most varieties aren't listed, but I know the Olympus gives a decent example of what to expect.
>>
>>98849740
A recharge station is exactly what it sounds like, a space station that can recharge jump cores. It's almost always faster to plug into a recharge station than use solar sails.

>So probably tons of salvaged Panthers, Pegasus tanks, and maybe a stinger/wasp variant if want a 7/11 mook/scout
There is also the 45 ton 3/5 slot that might be able to be filled. Looking in MegaMekLabs, it looks like we have...two options Mech-wise. The Hatchetman HCT-3FY and the pic related Eisenfaust if built in its EFT-4J configuration.

Sarna mentions that the 4J was a prototype set, but at the same time, MegaMekLabs has it listed in the Early Republic Era as being common in the Periphery General and in specific the March Worlds, the Rift, and...the Draconian Drift.
>>
>>98849881
Yeah, that would work best, especially from an SLDF perspective.
>>
>>98849894
The 4J was based on the clicktech model, which had simple tech and reflected the Stoner Peace downgrades for maintenance purposes. That was before they retconned the 3100's-3120's from introteching advanced machines to Stoners making random wonderwaffe.
>>
Pegasus has been mentioned multiple times, but we need more fast tanks to fit the raider/duelist fit. If we have Archers and Warhammers as a mainstay anchor point, and hover tanks as a hammer/backstabber, then what other models make sense in our forces?
Presumably we'd have an influx of Quickcell crap, especially since we're tight with Lyrans, because... well because it's Quickcell, but besides that.

Personally I'm thinking the mainstay trio, the Saladin, Scimitar, and Saracen, being common in our forces make sense since it'd be easy salvage/trade from Dracs.

So, let's say BattleTech finally gets a movie deal with a major studio. They decide to go with the MCU method of having a movie and TV series running in parallel, with one focusing on the political intrigues of the Great Houses and the other on gritty, ground level battles starring a plucky, hard luck mercenary company. Which story should be in which format?
>>

Politics should be the TV series as you both need more time and it's more budget-friendly. Needs a big fat costume budget to be good, though. Gritty small scale combat story of plucky heroes would make a good first movie.

Personally I imagine the core of the original pirate band was some leftover SLDF troops who got left behind forgotten on their SLDF outposts by the Exodus, and had to turn to piracy to actually sustain their worlds. An influx of Yakuza and general Drac mass immigration came from people fleeing from the Succession Wars, which is what led to Shinto being the main faith of the state.
Dark Caste remnants came later during the Clan Invasion, and the melting pot, freeman warrior culture, factories, and general lack of fear of the unknown is what gave the Pirate Band the edge it needed to become a formally recognized nation during a time where the IS is too busy to knock them down like they'd usually do when the Periphery gets ahead of itself.

I think the Marik Civil War would be a great jumping on point. Maybe start the whole thing off with a standalone movie loosely adapted from that comic book about Natasha Kerensky. It would give a new audience a foretaste of the politics of the setting, the role played by mercenary armies and foreshadow the coming Clan Invasion. If it's successful, follow it up with a movie of Wolves on the Border and an ongoing series based around House Davion loosely adapting The Sword and The Dagger and The Warrior Trilogy.

What if a jumpship broke down and took so long to repair that they gave up hope of catching up to the rest of Kerensky's fleet, and instead chose to settle in the Periphery alongside people who had been terraforming the place since before they showed up?
Instead choosing to deploy the materials they had brought along to build a pair of dropship factories (For redundancy in case of rival pirates terror bombing them) and then using a liberal amount of pocket warships to dominate in space and keep everyone else around in check despite their relative small size.
The ancient ties combined with the annoyance it would pose to divert clan warships to steamroll these retrofitted MULE's and ancient heavy mechs, (along with whatever other mechs they've managed to scrape together)
Simply easier to just challenge each other to Batchalls or let the merchant caste handle it.
Since naval power would be such a defining factor, it seems sensible that the ruling / richest classes would be from the two dropship planets, using their SLDF ties and coveted hidden expertise in dropship construction to keep the rest of the pirates in line.
Building the factory being a recent success story in legitimicing themselves instead of just being a freeport for pirates and periphery states alike.

So I was thinking about those heavy mechs getting built. Warhammers and Archers seems to be agreed upon. That 140 engine however makes them pretty terrible, as we all know. So what if they had a bit of a working arrangement to trade some of their Archers and Warhammers, without engines, to the DC for Panthers? Our Namekian Pirates then install the engines themselves, giving them more functional mechs, even though they're lighter than what they're giving away. Meanwhile, the DC is probably making more engines than mech and would love a little arrangement. Big time DC likes the deal, but local DC system governors are pissed because these pirates are still raiding them, but the raids end up being less harmful to the DC overall than the trade deal for Archers and Warhammers is profitable. So while the local DC copes and seethes, the rest of the DC enjoys the extra heavy mechs.

>kek, better than no name
We could make Namek a planet that the big pirate band was originally from, maybe forming out of people displaced because their OG homeworld got rendered uninhabitable by First/Second Succession War events.

Circa the Clan Invasion, they are again forced away, bunkering down on an old outpost on Namek (people talked about making them SLDF descendants, so maybe a Castle Brian?) that has a safe internal atmosphere even if not a sustainable base long term. Regroup and gather their thoughts.

They get into contact with the various then individually independent worlds to see what they could do about the Clans and it ends with the formation of the nation. Using what limited gear is left in the Castle Brian and the dropship factories working in tandem (alongside the fleets the two worlds built up), they manage to make themselves at least look thorny enough that the Clans decide not to invade them until later.

Namek isn't made the capital because its still too Tintavel'd, but that doesn't stop the Elite Unit of the realm from being named after it, and the Capellans are easy precedent for a the world a nation is named for not being the capital.

So I understand why the game doesn't reference our real life media, but we certainly can when we make up our own stuff. So here's what I'm thinking.

Entertainment caches were damaged during the initial settlement of the systems, leaving very little in the way of things to do. One of the things that did survive however, was an ancient old Terra anime, DragonBall Z. It was widely watched by a good portion of the settlers. So when one of the systems they began to settle had a green looking sky, people started to jokingly refer to it as planet Namek. This caught on and as result, Piccolo became an informal mascot of many of the early settlers, to the point where even the mechs were repainted into Piccolo's colors.

I want to try and build a community in my small city. There's some stores I could use as well as cafés where the board game community in my city congregatss.

What could I try and say and/or do to convince someone to try out Battletech?
I have a 3d Printer so I could pretty much print any lance I wanted. I was thinking on doing two lances to introduce players.
>>
>>98852448
Wouldn't it be better for introduction games, just to get an agoac or the new core box? 3d printing is nice of you are already into mini's but if some normie comes up and you go, these are 3d printed, that ads an extra layer of entry, a lot of people think it is some kind of dark magiks. Anyhow, starting a new scene is always hard, I hope you succeed and find some chill gaming bro's, anon.
>>
>>98852461
I don't have access to agoac anymore nor Core Box, Amazon stopped selling it. Is it easy to find on Ebay?
>>
>>98852448
Mecha autists frequenting game stores are already halfway there, they just have to be given the opportunity. You can post an offer to run learning games on whatever your local shops use for community info, and/or you can hang out at the painting table working on your mechs like a pervert with a van full of candy waiting to lure mecha fans into playing robots with you.
>>
>>98852479
There will be an upcharge on ebay but it is not rare. If you have some other store in your country that sells BT, it will probably be on sale because the new boxes that are dropping.
If the crowd you are targeting is already into boardgames it might be less of an issue if you don't have the official(tm) product because they already know games. Battletech being essentially just a ruleset can be wierd to comprehend if you play some settlers of Catan or risk with the family though, so seeing something they can actually buy when you introduce the hame might help.
Idk, that's how it usually goes in my experience, results may vary on your machine.

Probably the Peregrine. It's indirectly based on a Sizzler from Gunbuster (with bits of a Zaku from Gundam), which was a deliberate stylistic callback to early super robots of the 50s-70s.

It's weird to think that Gunbuster was such a huge nostalgia trip for classic anime when it's about as old today as the original Tetsujin was when it first came out...

What's the general consensus on points/unit limits? I was thinking of introducing a standard for our group to limit shenanigans, 8k bv2 with a maximum of 8 units and half of them have to be battlemechs, repeat units are allowed but have to be different variants. Also same era for both players to be decided prior to list building.

Is it too restrictive or too loose?
>>
>>98847965
Let us construct a mercenary force for the scouring sands campaign together.

Reply with the following information in your post to add a unit to the company:

Which of the three starting missions you vote for (See attached image)
A mech and its variant (Once the 400PV are spent up no further mechs will be added and the mission votes will be tally'd, but we must include at minimum 8 mechs)
A pilot name (Optional since we only need between two and six pilots) If you wish to pick their starting ability then ago ahead and post that as well, since I usually prefer to start my pilots off with 2 edge tokens and an ability.
List of abilities for those who don't have the cards available (feel free to ask how they work): Assassin, Bulwark, Cautious, Coolant Flush, Forward Observer, Jumping Jack, Melee specialist, Marksman, Nimble, Patient, Protector, Speed demon

Mech availability is based on what miniatures I have available, so go ahead and pick a variant using the MUL from the following list. (Or roll if you are feeling indecisive)
Assaults: Atlas, Annihilator, Bane, Highlander IIC, Warhawk, Phoenix Hawk IIC
Heavies: 2x Timber wolves, 3x Archers, 2x Warhammers, Thunderbolt, Rifleman IIC, Rifleman, Grizzly,
Mediums: Wraith, Phoenix Hawk, Nova, 2x Blackjack, Pouncer
Lights: 3xLocusts, Wasp, Firemoth
Battle armor: 2 squads of Cavaliers

>What's the general consensus on points/unit limits?

There isn’t one. Generally I find about 8K to be a good limit since you can get a fairly premium IS Lance or a budget clan star with 8K, or a mixed formation of mechs and BA just to hit your 5-unit count for it to be considered a “star”. I don’t generally like running more than 4 or 5 units; the decision space just starts to get a little too wide for each turn and it starts to slow things down a lot, but not everybody feels the same way, so a unit cap is a good idea.

Another idea is for large groups, try 5K3U format - 5K BV, 3 units exactly. Then just pair up with a buddy or two so you can do a bigger battle without having to manage so many units yourself.

What you’ve got seems perfectly fine, I wouldn’t worry about it being too restrictive. You could even throw a tech level restriction in there if you didn’t want anything Experimental or Advanced and I would still think it’s fine.

When I am done with the Catapult I have a Wolverine already primed and ready. Then I'm going to do the other half of the agoac box in Kurita colors. I have a double set of mini's and I like the end result but painting with 5 shades of grey and a grey wash is kinda boring, so splitting them up like that keeps the interest going.

>>98853888
Roadrunner & Coyote were part of a modified lance of 5 mechs, along with 3 other girls, after they all graduated from the St. Fiacre of Breuil High School for girls. They were fighting in the first wave of the Clan Invasion and their lance got annihilated.
The Victor, Crusader, and Archer were brought down by a Clan Jade Falcon star, giving RR&C time to retreat. A Fire Moth took off in pursuit of them and heavily damaged Roadrunner's mech. Coyote turned back to try and save Roadrunner. The clanner brought down Coyote's mech, but Roadrunner managed to charge the Fire Moth and knock it over, causing the Mechwarrior to die in the fall. Roadrunner's Locust was practically totaled and Coyote's was completely. The Fire Moth was still in great shape however.
Coyote was helped out of her mech, but heavily wounded. With the other Jade Falcons on their way, in even heavier mechs, Coyote got into Roadrunner's Locust to buy whatever time she could, for Roadrunner to escape in the Fire Moth. Coyote was KIA as Roadrunner escaped.
Roadrunner would go on to be heavily involved in scouting actions for the rest of the Clan Invasion in her Dasher. During the FedCom civil war, she initially sided with her home nation of the Federated Suns. However she found much of the fighting senseless and became an independent mercenary, fighting for both sides during the war, as she saw fit. She became well renowned as her skills improved and even created her own small mercenary company which specialized in high speed scouting.
When the Jihad came, she helped out those in need wherever she could, against the fanatical Word of Blake, often taking small payments and barely staying solvent because of it. In her down time, she could often be found watching old Looney Tunes cartoons with a stiff drink and rarely a smile. She was last seen in the tail end of the Jihad in 3079. The last client that ever hired her reported hearing her say that she was tired of running for others.

This is very funny to me given that my current Draconis Reach campaign has the players split into two mercenary cooperatives called the Roadrunners and Coyotes. When we ran Aces earlier in the year the players chose to call their company the Roadrunners because we're in New Mexico, so it was inevitable that the other cooperative was the Coyotes.

I mean, unless you want to create your own lore for Coyote, since she's yours. Maybe she lives somehow and decades later Coyote and Roadrunner meet on opposite sides of the battlefield and stop fighting when they recognize the style in which the other mech is piloted. They stop fighting and bring their mechs face to face before both getting out of their mechs and seeing their long lost friend that they had thought was dead.

You Belong With Me (BT Remix)
You’re walking out in that shiny Timber Wolf

All those fancy pods and freezers look so cool

But I’ve been out here in the mud and the rain

Running this old Marauder through the same old pain
You’re talking up your targeting computer’s range

While my PPCs are still putting plasma downrange

You’re with that Clan pilot in the sleek new ride

But I’m the one who’s still standing by your side
If you could see that this old chassis still holds true

And that my heat sinks keep me cooler than you

You’d realize
You’re with a Clanner now

But deep down you know

That Inner Sphere steel

Is where you belong

I’m the reliable ride

When the ammo runs low

You’re with a Clanner now

But you belong with me
You smile and say those advanced sensors never miss

But I’ve been spotting ambushes since before you existed

You’re in that Mad Cat looking sharp and mean

While I’m still here fixing armor with a wrench and some dream
They’re the best, you’re the best, yeah everybody’s heard

But I’ve been the one covering your six when it hurts

You’re with that Clan tech that costs more than a DropShip

But I’m the one who’s still ready when the war starts
If you could see that this old engine still runs hot

And that my pilot’s still willing to take the shot

You’d realize
You’re with a Clanner now

But deep down you know

That Inner Sphere steel

Is where you belong

I’m the reliable ride

When the ammo runs low

You’re with a Clanner now

But you belong with me
Standing in the ‘Mech bay with the techs all night

Trying to keep this beast ready for the fight

Have you ever thought just maybe

You could use a ride that doesn’t break the bank?
You’re with a Clanner now

But deep down you know

That Inner Sphere steel

Is where you belong

I’m the reliable ride

When the ammo runs low

You’re with a Clanner now

But you belong with me
You’re with a Clanner now

But you belong with me

What are some of the weird or janky mechs from ilClan era that you enjoy?

I used the Rifleman C2 the other night and an XXL with Jump 9 is hilarious
>>
>>98856163
I'm going to bring a Viper 9 to the event this weekend. I haven't actually used it yet, but I'm pretty confident it's far over on the jank side of the scale thanks to being relatively slow, doing zero damage to mechs at range (although it fucking shreds anything that doesn't have a heat scale) and having boneitis.

Thanks for compiling the rolls already, anon.

I should have what feels like a good RAT for the Heavy/Assault and Dropships done by tommorrow, but in light of some of the discussion mentioning Namekians in general and the Vanu in your post, here's a prototype symbol of the realm combining the Six Star Dragonball (they greyed out one representing the destroyed world mentioned in >>98851646) and the symbol of Planetside 2's Vanu Sovereignty, which would effectively indicate the name is the "Namek Sovereignty".

This seem like a good setup even with my very rough editing two images together (someone else probably wants to upgrade it if we do go with this), or does anyone what they feel would be a better logo/name in mind?

Are there any designs where composite structure is actually warranted? All the ones I've seen never use the extra tonnage well enough to offset the fact that their internal structure is now slightly worse than a mech half their size.

Played two Arena matches tonight as part of our ongoing Draconis Reach game.

The first saw my Stinger IIC, with a 4/4 pilot with two Edge points and the Cautious edge ability, facing off against an Osiris 3D with a 3/4 pilot. (Represented with a Wendigo mini)

The enemy had both maneuverability and firepower on their side, able to control the range, and even when I won initiative, his superior speed and gunnery meant he had better to-hit numbers than me, so I knew I had to do something drastic. I lost initiative and ended my move close to the enemy, which looked like a misplay, as he had a chance to get into my rear arc. He took it, only generating a +1 TMM in the process, and I used my Cautious edge ability to spin around, then hit with both my lasers and rolled a lucky headshot. Turns out the Osiris only has 7 head armor, so the 10 damage from the iHML on the Stinger IIC decapitated it in a single hit. My Stinger lost an arm in the same round, so if I hadn't won then and there, I was about to concede.

My second match saw my Crusader 7W (the MML spam Crusader) matched against a Rakshasa (the original one that tries to copy the Mad Cat closely), and the random map we pulled from the box was thick with trees and rivers, which made it almost impossible for him to leverage his advantages in speed and range. It was basically six turns of me chasing the guy down and hammering him with over a dozen SRMs every round. I chewed his left arm almost entirely off while only taking armor damage, and when I cracked torso armor, he conceded rather than risk his mech.

40 LRM tubes is decent, but they wouldn't have given the stock model a PPC or even an LL to compliment that I'll never understand. What exactly is an LBX-2 supposed to offer besides little bit of plinking across the map?
The 2P at least addresses that.

PPC so hot pilot get all sweaty and sitcky and icky :(
LBX very cool and good at shooting down birds (VTOLs) :)
>>
>>98857220
You can, with a ton to spare even. I don't think you really need an extra ton of ammo though, so just toss that into armor to beef it up a bit more.
Then again, the LAC is a Fed innovation, and I'm not sure they'd want to stick one on what is supposed to basically be a totem mech.
The Shiro in general, while not bad, feels like it's meant more for the optics than the actual effectiveness.

Clan salvage always was and always will be the most crazy lucrative salvage you can get your hands on mech wise.
>The dracs ended up wiping the slate clean with the periphery pirates they had been trying to quash for centuries, just for the opportunity to buy salvage from them.
>>
>>98857329
Those would probably be gifts at first I imagine, or perhaps escorts for "disgraced nobles" who are totally looking to join the pirate band, and aren't just Lyran spies who want to keep tabs on the clans.
>>
>>98857335
I can imagine dumping some of their older gen suits and equipment moving forward, like the Sloth when the Lyrans shift to the Fenrir.
Actually speaking of the Lyrans, I could see some of the Namekian Brigade(?) fighting for the Lyran Alliance during the FedCom Civil War. Probably as mercenaries officially.
>>
>>98857338

The only real difference between a pirate and a mercenary is how big the bounty on their head is.
>>
>>98857324
Hey, I'll have you know the Marauder and Ravager are also strong choices. If you want to stay light, there is the Falcata. For mediums the ISS is actually still available in the Periphery, but if you're lucky you could find Asterions or Theseuses. The Spectre is also a good choice.

If the timeline allowed for it, it would've been neat to absorb some survivors of a Fire Mandrill Kindraa to basically be the Saiyan/Clanners to our Namekian/Spheroids.
>>
>>98856510
Considering the pirates are apparently Weebs, neighbors to the Dracs, and seem to be originally SLDF turned pirates by necessity that took control of some old outposts in the Periphery, what about connecting them to the old 124th like >>98851971 references?
>The 124th was later moved to an undisclosed area of the Periphery in 2765, where they were destroyed during the Periphery Uprising.[1]
It would fit the timeline, and they were officially destroyed but it wouldn't have been 100% death tolls and the fate of the survivors would be unknown. It'd make sense if a regiment stationed in DC went Spinward to handle whatever unrest was going on around the OWA, and when they were destroyed the survivors took refuge in some old outpost and ducked their heads down the rest of the conflict.
From there, the core of the eventual pirate band would have been whoever chose not to go on the Exodus, or maybe the SLDF remnant weren't even aware there were survivors and left without informing them of the Exodus.
That'd be pretty funny actually.

I mean, why not? They were founded during the Clan Invasion and stuff like population is a modern look at what they are doing, but nothing has strictly said when the modern is aside from Tech probably being better if it was all the way out at IlClan. Not much stopping that being a Jihad/Reaving event if we consider the state we're looking at about Early Republic.

Us being in good relations with Hell's Horses might preclude it a bit though. At least if there's a Vegeta-like guy declaring himself SaKhan of the Fire Mandrils.
>>
>>98859786
Thinking it over some more, the Experimental/Elite tech only being E rating probably limits them to like 1 Jumpship's worth of Dropships. Otherwise, that value might be higher just from them making up the Elites.

Looks like the Sea Foxes reset the PHP grid finally?
>>
>>98860836
Glad the thread didn't die this time
>>
>>98860836
You can't reset it. 19/20 hyperspace cores are blown. You physically have to rebuild and replace over a thousand HPG cores in the Inner Sphere, all with a unique algorithm to adjust to how local hyperspace has been fucked.

Sea Fox may have the math, but they don't have the manpower or germanium to get that done anytime soon. Comstar themselves estimated over a hundred years to do the job.

>>
>>98861023
It's pretty much vibe. The important bit is everyone knows what a given piece is supposed to be. A piece of paper with AS7-D written on it is far preferable to a pristine quality model who's owner keeps "forgetting" whether it's a Gargoyle Prime or Gladiator A
>>
>>98860921
the site was read only for about 22 hours, most websites were down for a while
>>
>>98861023
I've done an exercise where I pretend I've got a mech that hasn't had its warbook updated and it's trying to identify a new mech, MAD/CAT/MAD/CAT style.
For example, a mech that was mothballed at the end of the Jihad might identify a Rokurokubi as some sort of unidentified variant of a Commando or Hammer.
>>
>>98861023
If I'm.substituting I try to stay in the same class and with comparable threat level. Like I wouldn't use a Wasp to represent a Gunslinger, but I would use Highlander or a Warhammer. That way at a glance you can still subconsciously feel the danger should you temporarily forget it's a proxy.
