Here are some bugs I've discovered so far:
    >you randomly stop being able to assign guardian to children (quit to main menu to "fix" this for a while)
    >If a dynasty has more than one eclesiastic title holders who have children their children can switch parents on save load
    >Byzantine emperor automatically becomes the pope of ecumenical patriarchate when great schism happens
    >If you are pope and declare crusade almost no landed rulers joins you

Here are some of the cool tenets (new one and updated old ones). Reincarnation is the best tenet in the game. Super fun if you become pope.

How are there no monastic holy orders at start for any of the dharmic faiths, I get that the DLC was focused on Christianity but pre existing monastics would be good to spice up the mandala, celestial and Japanese government gameplay loops (having a pet holy order is good for the playing tall mandala loops and monastics slowly getting more and more importance over time due to their ability to simply grow over time, being a little buff for basically every non-Confucian religion, and their absence from the game at the moment feels weird.
    >>
I wish I could give military orders land, in CK2 I would give one of them Sinai and they'd fuck up egypt

Jesus is a human sacrifice and eating the body of Christ isn’t metaphorical it literally is occurring
    >>
    >>2498869
Yes, obviously, but if you think about it two seconds longer, the principal point is that He is God, aside from being human. "Human sacrifice" and "cannibalism" is at best an oversimplification, that is fun to joke about, but is still, obviously, not exactly right.
The tenets of human sacrifice and cannibalism, in-game terms, obviously do not apply.

I'm pretty sure a wealthy count/baron could be a founding patron as well irl, but I'm convinced Crusader Kings 3 dev team more and more wants to abolish all gameplay besides kings and emperors. I view that as them beign cheap and lazy fuckers who don't want to make sure their stuff works properly for lower level rulers.
    >>
who the fuck plays as count for longer than the first 5 years
    >>
    >>2499130
I do, or at least did. There are some play styles that are too difficult to maintain alongside a kingdom/empire administration and constant wars. In CK2 I loved to play as an autistic shut-in baron or count stargazer or development focused local noble. Scholar style gameplay seems to be on its way out for secular rulers now that we can play as clergy though.
    >>
you get so much shit from the royal court that boost development, activities, court roles, maa, knights that its a waste of time to be lower than a king in ck3.
there are no playstyles that make it worth the while, i've tried them all already.
if you absolutely want to be the lowest possible land there are cyprus, crete, kingdom of mann and canary islands, the smallest kingdoms while still having access to the court.
you also want to always transition in to administrative government later if we are talking meta
    >>
playing a bishop is somewhat tall aswell but there is not enough shit to do without the court, although they added some things from adventurer gameplay like conversion of foreign rulers that you get via personal tenets
these tenets are a lot of fun, some allow you to raid disregarding your gov or religion (but you need to be landed ofc)
    >>
    >>2499128
It's shit like this which make force you to expand instead of playing count tier lord. And it shouldn't work like this, it takes away the RP element, but let's be honest, CK3 is the epitome of being impossible to RP in.
    >>
you dont need to expand past the kingdom you are doing it because you are low iq and dont know what else to do without the game telling you explicitly
    >>
    >>2498849
    I noticed that too
honestly I'm more surprised there isn't some option to just create one like one would with adventurers, but given the state the patch is in ATM, I wouldn't be shocked if they basically rushed it out the door "intending to" patch it later
though when it comes to Tibet in particular I'm under the impression they want them to be more special, and I'd assume Tibet to be the star of any eastern monastic update

That mod and the paradox forum thread are better then I expected, tho there's not too much to go off of just from the screenshots of that mod. The thread especially is very impressive, I've done 40+ post long infodumps here on 4chan just with stuff know off the top of my head, and even for me some of the info the OP there brings up are things I couldn't have mentioned without consulting my books/papers

That said, one issue I see throughout their post is uncritically repeating info about the "Toltec empire" as a region-wide superpower, and also taking info later Nahuatl accounts have about the Toltecs at face value, when it is the consensus now that such annals were heavily mythologized or entirely mythical, and that Tula was likely the head of one of many medium sized kingdoms in Central Mexico during the Epiclassic and early Postclassic, not a empire covering most of Central Mexico and that invaded/colonized the Yucatan

In general, I think they're putting too much stock in colonial period chronicles of Prehispanic history (EX: Can we really trust Xolotl was a real person? I'm also not sure where they're getting the idea Xolotl would have been part of a Oto-Manguean group, I thought he was Nahua? This might just me being not super well read on the research around the Nahua migrations/Nahuatl spread, tho... on the flip side, I know that there's some recent research that argues that the Toetihuacanos may have actually been Nahuatl or proto-Nahuatl speakers), and there's a few other nitpicks I could give, but overall it's very detailed and well researched

    >>2499042
I like some of Joubert's art, but that piece has issues. Compare to the more accurate art in the collage in pic related
    >>
    >>2499302
your more accurate art treats aztecs as noble savages
why do you never post them skinning their prisoners, baking them on fires, cutting their entrails, smearing themselves with their blood and then cooking and eating the corpses, during a festival every 20 days
    >>
    >>2499311
I don't think you understand what "noble savage" means

Anyways, to answer your question, there simply aren't many pieces of accurate artwork depicting that kind of stuff. My best guess for why that is the case is that since sacrifice is so overemphasized in general pop culture depictions and normie understanding of Mesoamerica, that the artists who actually know their shit generally focus on depicting, well, anything else (and, similarly, while I don't MIND infodumping about sacrifices, I do prefer to focus on say their aqueducts or politics etc since less people have read about those things)

The only art I know of that depict sacrifice with even somewhat accurate fashion and/or architecture would be pic related by H.M Herget (and even this takes a fair amount of liberties), a similar piece inspired by it made by Zdenek Burian (but it shows a few figures with VERY inaccurate attire), a depiction of gladiatorial Tlauauaniliztli sacrifice during Tlacaxipehualiztli by Angus Mcbride (only notable issue is one helmet looks wonky), a painting by Adrian Unzueta that shows Conquistadors being sacrificed and beheaded for the skull rack/towers (but like the Burian piece, some figures shown are quite inaccurate), A illustration by Jose Ignacio Redondo that shows a heart extraction sacrifice on a temple summit (mostly looks good aside from some ornaments one priest has and the fact the architecture lacked smooth plaster), and a depiction of Maya sacrifice by Peter Dennis (which is pretty much flawless)

Having said that, I do, in fact, post those images when it is relevant to do so. EX: you can see me posting the Angus piece showing gladatorial sacrifice right here: https://arch.b4k.dev/v/thread/639120080/#639123150 where I, ironically, complained about how the same art posted in >>2499042 was inaccurate, but that I didn't have any accurate depictions of heart extractions to post as a better alternative, so I was posting the gladiatorial sacrifice artwork instead.

About half the innovations are locked behind heritage, geographic regions, or the silk road. About a fifth require hybridizing to get.
    >>
    >>2499794
    >without hybridizing
yes, and there is no hybridization for religion, i just cant get these tenets at all
i can gradually replace my whole culture to be indistinguishable from for example arabic or indian but i can never get their tenets (which are the same traditions but for religion) as a christian, for absolutely no reason

Maybe, Dualists should be allowed to get almost all the Christian exclusive tenets. They're basically a hybrid between Pagan Mystery Cults and the New Testiment.
I assume that's what you're advocating for. An equivalent to hybrid cultures for faiths to represent potential faiths like Dualists.
    >>

maybe everyone should be able to get everything like it was before.
what is the point of heresy mechanic or culture change if you are forever locked based on predetermined regional religious traditions. Where is the player agency?

so the new religion rework is christianity focused but i had an idea for a rework for paganism with pagan tenets just being different pagan gods christian religions can't embrace as primary traits, and pagan religions can exchange gods more freely. I really like how it looks and feels so far so im thinking about doing it for hinduism or asatru next but is this actually a good idea or is it not as good of an idea as it sounds to me?

I think they're super cool yeah. My plan is to take some of those and spread them out to new gods as well so while nonchristians can't get those tenets they can get similar benefits. Like adding the spiritual fulfilment from childbirth from mother of god to tonantzin ect. or veneration of saints as a way to ascend to godhood.

So did they lock creating new holy sites behind playing as clerical or can I do it as a secular ruler? I want to make my own East Asian rite of Christianity and convert East and Southeast Asia. Sure, I could always do this before, but I thought this DLC might make it more interesting. Creating a new Christian faith before meant no head of faith unless you used Rite to keep the old head of faith. Making a new head of faith requires a holy site.
    >>
    >>2499868
Only papists. Iconoclasm should never have been declared a heresy.
    >>
    >>2499898
you can do most of the same shit via pipetting the bishop or whoever is the head of that religion, they might be secular for pagans, then youll need to puppet them i guess or just create your own reformed one

a couple of times actually but those arent my big issues. ive accepted im genuinely insane and idc about hiding it anymore but since i was like 12 ive had a intense devotion to the gods and dislike christianity because i see it as a godless and evil political organization. try not to be mean to christians about it these days and just be vocal against the religion not its believers. theres still faith and devotion there its just that they follow a weird book of rules and demand we worship a god i see as a rape god as the only god and i dont like that. I think jesus is fine just a manifestation of the sun they worship its the stuff they dont mention like hidden obligations and demands. anf christianity is an integrating religion that takes other beliefs and gods and goes “yes but” and makes you follow their laws. I see my gods all over it because they are all over everything.

Haven't played around with it much, but the flavour is alright.
In all of the DLC the flavour is good but the mechanics are shit.
In Tours and Tournaments, competitions are flavourful and interesting, but grant insane prestige and piety. And make the AI sit around doing activities instead of engaging in politics and war. And that's one of the "good" DLC.
Basically, the AI went from drooling retard to loony wacko when it comes to religion. The systems themselves weren't restrictive or reactive enough to deal with this. And now everyone's game has the Pope become a cannibal/nudist/polygamist/murderer all without player intervention.
S&S is probably going to get kneecapped by this. They have half the dev team scrambling to hotfix this dumpster fire instead of working on S&S. Doesn't feel that way given how slow and nothing the hotfixes have been, but Paradox cannot into AI so I assume it'll take weeks before they'll figure how to unfuck it.

common reading is really recent, during the bronze ages very few clerics new how to read like less than 100 and in the bronze age collapse that got fucked then slowly people started agreeing on languages and the alphabet before we could actually make readable shit. Then it was still centuries before standardized spelling and dictionaries that let you know what exactly words mean and not have those be subjective. China didnt have that and instead everybody in asia adopted their script. So they had better literacy until the late modern era.

I'd believe it, even if it's AI slop answer. 10th century was probably the direst period in Europe, closest to genuinely being dark ages as it ever got. It's called The Iron Century for a reason. HRE especially was fucked because Otto The Great had only just began the process or unfucking Germany (that before him was still more tribal than not) and picking up the pieces of shattered Carolingian Empire.
It's basically a comparison between Europe at it's worst and China at it's best.

Honestly don't mind new rites, whatever, but mainline Christianity getting sweeping changes in councils with nobody batting an eye is retarded. They should have changed the system so there are core tenets that are hard to change and if you change them it effectively works like a reform or a schism and minor shit that's just the current period's flavour. Fuck, maybe it works like that, I wouldn't know because the multiple councils I saw have been steadily reforming church into a diversity parade with naked gays tancing on floats made out of dead people. Even the very first one I saw had some stupid doctrine straight out of a sex mod pass despite the vote being split exactly evenly.

I loaded up my custom character run, I was an Anglo-Saxon explorer again. I set off from the shore and navigated to the Sinai peninsula, carefully managing my food supply as I went. I made sure only to recruit white males to my band. Then I sailed from the red sea to Japan. When I got there I switched my camp purpose to swords for hire. After a few years of building up I declared war for the shogunate. My white knights easily beating the inferior slants. Once I made myself emperor of Japan I immediately began marrying the members of my band to Japanese women. I created a Hapa ruling class, creating a new Anglo-Saxon-Yamato culture, and set about settling the 1,000 year reichu. This is the 17th time I've done this campaign, but as soon as the EU5 converter is set up I'll transfer them over and continue there. >>
    >>2501673
I've never understood that complaint. The option is to either make up something that seems somewhat plausible or not have it at all. You can't put in accurate history when there aren't any good records.
    >>
    >>2501608
I don't hate it in theory. I can see the connection between cannibalism and eating body of Christ. It's a leap, but it is obvious it's what they're referencing.
The issue is that AI is just too willing and ready to accept stuff they should almost all find utterly abhorrent and there aren't really any strong mechanics to punish and rein in the extremes. All of Christianity can decide a mortal sin is actually a virtue overnight and nobody even questions in. Fuck, even if somehow all of nobility and bishops and Pope agreed cannibal orgies are okay the peasants led by lowly priests should treat the Catholic Church to a Reformation on steroids and a Thirty Years War that's more like Three Hundred Years War.
A depraved cannibal church should be something a player achieves after centuries of dedicated effort and probably requiring exploits to actually convert all of Christianity to it, not something that happens accidentally when you aren't looking.

The Divine Marriage tenet got a buff so it's no longer a "just for flavor" tenet (imo it was previously pretty shit)
    previously:
    >+10 vassal opinion if married to closely related spouse
    >+500 piety for monogamous marriage to closely related
    now:
    >vassals less likely to rebel if married to closely related spouse
    >+10 vassal opinion if married to closely related spouse
    >+10 spouse opinion
    >+500 piety for monogamous marriage to closely related

On my first playthrough I'm getting the feeling like picking China just because it was one of the tutorials was a mistake.
My first generation was fine, just sitting around and building up my family and writing poems while governing and becoming grand chancellor.
Second generation was mostly more of the same except I was never assigned land all the way to merit rank 2, so my income was bad.
And then the era of division happened, and it seems like I basically can't do anything and will have to sit and watch until the next era since I can't make a significant army with this income and military cap. I thought I would have a shot at taking a governorship post-division, but the country my domicile is in doesn't even have a governor position and none of the non-war deposition options are valid.
So I feel like I'm going to have nothing to do for another 1 1/2 generations until this happens again. All I really gained out of this generation that was different from the previous one was that I got inducted into witchcraft, which has been kind of funny.
    >>
    >>2503335
You learned some important lessons yes? I would say that counts as a tutorial.

    >>2503335
Being a governor in China is fine as a new player as long as China remains stable, which is the case for 1066 at least.
Especially during other start dates, you should have a sense of how to ensure China doesn't divide itself, or know how to take advantage of that to put yourself on the throne. The latter of course requiring you to know at least somewhat what you are doing.
    >>
    >>2503373
    >>2503359
I think it'd be workable if not for the fact that after the first generation there is a constant supply of Merit Rank 1 guys and my second generation guy will never get any kind of governorship before the division happens.
If I at least had any land then maybe I could attempt to learn to fight wars, but that's not an option with 500 guys.
I suppose I would have to avoid division like you said, but I'm not really sure what my goal is after that other than study all day to maybe become governor of a county when I'm 65 years old, and then lose it when he dies.

The AI pope can permit or prohibit literally anything. I immediately made a mod severely restricting the pope after the ai prohibited charity and dulia in my game, so I never personally experienced an AI pope making cannibalism a core tenet, amongst others.
Neither the AI nor player should be able to do that though

That mouth has always been far too overly detailed. Most of this game is just the developers putting their fetishes into it now, papal bull, all the fart events, and vore being just three examples.
    >>
    >>2503575
    >papal bull
You are a brain-rotted retard and should downscale the time you spend on the internet. Papal Bulls are documents signed with the Big Papal Seal which is called the Bull.
The only thing wrong about them in the DLC is how common they are. They were the highest and most special of all Papal documents. But of course, for that PDX would first need to be competent at research and knwo that there are different digrees of importance in sacral, secular and papal documents and each has its specific purpose.
    >>
    >>2503589

"Bull" is a hyper-specific term that only one well versed in cuckoldry circles OR chronically online would know.
Something like "pope-mobile" to travel to over 100 places as the pope would be a normal pun-achievement, because everyone knows what the popemobile is, "bull" as a term of one who cucks you is a niche fetish term. It'd be like putting in "rusty trombone", have your jester play an antiquated song.
    >>
    >>2503649
Everyone on the internet has been well versed in cuckoldry since 2015
    >>
    >>2503651
Being aware of the concept of cuckoldry does not mean you know the specific terms for the participants. If they put in a "Crusader Quean" achievement to have your husband sleep with many other women it would also be weird.

Well sure it was just about human sacrifice. Animal sacrifice never made sense outside of eastern mysticism like Judaism, why would God accept the premise of you "putting your sins into animal" and sacrificing it. That doesn't seem to have any divine connection. Human sacrifice would though, but not after Christ who already died for our sins.
    >>
    >>2503888
That's the CURRENT doctrine. Doctrine can and has changed all the time. The loose reasoning for embracing cannibalism is already present in the theology. You would argue that it's an incorrect interpretation, and I would agree, but I can certainly see how someone could come to a different conclusion.
There's a number of things in existing large sects that frankly have less theological basis.
The only historical issue here is that the christcucks don't start killing each other over big doctrine arguments quicker considering they did that over substantially lesser issues all the time.

Mormonism represents the times of the second great awakening when Americans were more isolated from the rest of the Christian world in Europe and developed various offshoot religions like that.
Today with interconnectivity of the entire world, such developments just aren't happening anymore in the same way that new regional language dialects are also not increasing, rather dialects just unify to a national or international standard due to the information technology of today.

New sects and cults are created every year, and all religions start out as sects and cults. If enough people join them, they become a religion. Literally, Scientology is the most recent example of this.
    >>
    >>2504991
The reformation (over the long term) kind of killed sects by erasing the concept of a controlling body for the religion.
Like sure, historically protestants would still get tribal with each other sometimes, but in the modern day your tenets are up to you, and no one really cares which denomination of church you go to. Plenty probably don't even know what the official differences are because it's that irrelevant.
You could say that means there are as many sects as there are people, but at that point it isn't religion deciding how the people feel about societal issues, it's culture.
    >>
    >>2504918
ck3 has suffered what I call "dnd bloat"
Unless it's an interesting battle or unique experience, a narrative doesn't need to capture every single day of travel or down time. A good DM knows when to commit to a timeskip and say "a week has passed, you've now arrived." CK peppers the game with meaningless, minor activities about unimportant characters, and, meanwhile, there's no actual strategic issue with traveling, both in terms of military action or domestic politics. But there are plenty of DMs who want to show off the worldbuilding with plenty of wacky one-offs that could be explored further in an RPG that don't work in a frame like CK, and would be better of in something like M&B where you can have fun with a physical challenge instead of just making a dice roll
    >>
    >>2505028
That's just because travel in DND is trivial.
In DND, there are downtime actions which are assumed to be taken whenever time is skipped over. Any halfway decent party will have a set of downtime actions which solves traveling safely. Survival is solved once you get Goodberry. Hostile encounters are a drain until the party gets to 4th level when wildlife stops being a threat. At which point they'll at least have treasure and moreso be an objective than a nuisance.
The only issues that aren't trivialized during standard play are travel time and hauling capacity. You can solve one, but not the other until you get access to both Demiplane and Planeshift. Which is beyond standard play.

Side tangent aside. The problems with logistic don't exist for rulers, armies forage from supply capacity, and travel supplies are assumed to be abundant until you get that one random event where you lose all of it. Adventurer provisions are closer, but for some reason, they can last forever and are only consumed while traveling. I guess they're foraging with zero repercussions.
The current army system sucks and has some weird headscratchers. Like how being a better general means you can pay your army less. The fact the caravan guards don't really exist is a symptom of this. There's modifiers to stop you from going into active battles, which do very little to redirect travel as travel paths can't be changed once set. No such modifiers for standing armies, there's no difference between walking into a rivals army vs the fringe of his territory when traveling.
Bandits are weird, there are two disconnected systems. Control and criminal adventurers. Low control implies the existance of bandits and brigands, and criminal adventurers are the upper echilons of those masses. Why low control doesn't generate criminal adventurers and tie them together is beyond me. Infact, you could have criminal adventurers control crime and be forced to negotiate or send in the army.

Is the new DLC/update broken? I was trying to do a Normandy run of CK3 with the new update and everything seems busted. Like the Roman rite is a tiny minority of Christianity, and more and more rites keep breaking off with no signs of stopping. Also one of Ivar the Boneless's children got the conqueror trait and took over all of Britannia, and even after taking Kent Christians don't have access to crusades, did they change how that works? The final straw was when a adherent of the Greek rite took over the Papacy, is that even supposed to happen? How are crusades ever supposed to happen now?

Is this just due to bugs and poor balance because the DLC and update just came out, or is it because I don't actually have the DLC? I swear the one time I actually want to play as a crusader king this shit happens.

A bunch of those rites get absorbed into Catholicism after the Schism.
Crusades don't happen until later, even before the update. Now, they need both that papal decision to be made AND for the situation that allows crusades. Can still have holy wars, though.

Has anyone dabbled on making a city-level total conversion mod?

Every building would be a barony, owned by the mafia/gangs or regular landlords, your courtiers would be your tenants/renters, nomadic homeless camps, being an adventurer would either mean you are homeless or a renter depending on where your camp is and maybe once Silk and Silver comes out one might be able to simulate setting up shop and buying/selling products like milk, drugs and guns.
Not sure how religion would be like. It might be a representation of a character's lifestyle or occupation, but there are also people who are actually religious as well.
Maybe being a mayor would be an entire situation in and of itself, with citizens being able to vote on various matters that could affect the entire map.

One issue would be the setting. At first I was thinking of it being a real city but that might be too creatively restricting, then I thought about fictional cities. Which one would be diverse enough for a game? There are the more fantastical ones like Gotham or Astro City which have superheroes and magic roaming around, and then there are more grounded ones like GTA. Another idea that came to mind would be Springfield from the Simpsons or Quahog from Family Guy.
Maybe making an original setting from scratch would be the way to go?

Sometimes its fun to just play the viking adventurer as generic as it sounds. That being said i wish they did another pass at them and added more DLC focused stuff for adventurers. Being an adventurer that becomes a knightly order, if you're a viking or from that area you can do some varangian guard. Stuff like that.

Also, have they said anything about looking at the family renown trees? They keep adding new trees but as long as the bloodline stuff is there most of them will never match them outside of RP stuff.

adventurers will be vanilla with the merchant dlc patch at least IIRC, so maybe there's some sliver of hope they'll throw a few more bones to them specific to DLCs

I said bloodline stuff, not just the blood tree. I get there's some good things to take here and there, but you can never go wrong with the stuff that improves the ability to birth better kids. My main complaint is why you would ever take something from activities or law outside of larping a specific thing. Id just like a rebalancing or maybe a different way you earn some of these traits.

I think the Jewish skirmishers are considered good by some people, but that may have just been because of how cheap they are. If you're playing the 867 start then there should be that one county of Jewish culture over in Azov, but the ruler of the land might need to be Jewish too, and that guy tends to lose his land.

You forgot Water Rituals, which is also stupidly good. It makes the AI will no longer stupidly travel into plagues, and gives a -20% chance to get infected. Which with plague resistance modifiers like Hopices or Waterworks, effectively making your culture immune to the plague. Which also makes the character purger freak out and spawn apocalyptic plagues every few years. Which don't effect you, but do very much effect your enemies.
It also makes diligent more common which is one of the best personalities traits your vassals can have as it gives them the builder archetype. Which makes them construct buildings instead of hoarding gold.
It's one of the best non-regional/heritage traditions.

Cultivation is pretty good as well, -50% chance to gain every kind of elder trait, which also stacks with every other modifier. Like Mind Without Mind. The AI being able to become Taoist is annoying though.

Only the Strong currently has a bug where it will decimate your Accolade Glory because it doesn't increase the prowess requirements for successors and will repeatedly appoint and fire someone who should be ineligible.
Polygamous is redundant now that you can change any religion's doctrines.

This is also one of the better ways to farm renown. Your dynasty isn't just the ruler of one great empire, but consists of several great rulers across the map if you do that.

I mean doing like Culinary Artists + Frequent Festivities with say chivalry or straight up industrial farming it with Mystical Ancestors is plenty. I'm not struggling, just, past caring past a point, I guess.

Here's an example. >>2507585 This guy was a favorite child legitimized bastard of the 1st gen guy that basically went from a county in styria to larping charlemagne. Our 2nd gen geezer there went genghis khan 2.0 and reclaimed his homeland. And them some. From random strangers since anyone I remotely remembered from 1st gen died out. Most memorable moments included being groomed by his daughter for 20yrs (the kid that's helping you dress and shit) and then being romanced by her. Not wiping out the old house. Not ethnically cleansing the entirety of capet/normandie house because one of them looked at me funny.
OK, that was neat but what's next? One of his assorted grandgrand kids and repeat? Some complete random? I mean there's ~20 years of build-up and maybe two invasion, claim or like CBs and I'm back in control of my built out the ass counties. Worst case scenario I take, again, a complete random and I press for claim on one of his female dynasts I abducted, concubined and or married and am back where I started.

    My go to playset is:
    -A G. o. T.
-AGOT MB (a very specific patch, the "mostly fixed" version I think-- on AGOT forums)
    -AGOT PO+MB Compatch
    -AGOT PO - Base
-AGOT The Dragon's Peace (version for MB)
    -TDP+PO+MB Compatch
    -TDP + PO Compatch
    -AGOT PO - Base
Haven't checked out PO - Characters and Enhanced Child GFX, but that should only break GFX, not anything serious. I checked out CO but don't run it, so no clue-- it could be causing issues.
This load up still has a couple glitches, though.
I recommend having Claude Code fix things for you if you're having persistent issues.

I really wish there was a way to tie a head of faith title to a temporal title, like how Anglicanism works or the Roman religion worked (at least in the Imperial era), like whoever rules X kingdom is also the head of faith of this religion, regardless of their faith or dynasty.

I also wish I could have a temporal head of faith and theocratic clergy, I don't want to micro manage temples and have them take away from my domain limit. I know I can just make barons, but that feels wrong.

In admin gov, is it better for the treasury to have a lot of small direct vassals, or a few powerful vassals? I can make a bunch of duchies and kingdoms, but haven't yet because I'm a greedy lazy bastard and don't want to deal with succession of all those titles.
Also, is there a (non-mod) way to stop the game from forcing me to reform the budget every time I get enough to do anything fun?

    heads up to anyone else:
don't built grand cathedral in your capital unless you're already an ecclesiastic
the building will be marked as disabled for not being held by an ecclesiastic. looking at the wiki I don't think it's intended for feudals and such to be able to do it but they can, for whatever oversight reason, and I'm under the impression the regional cleric fella can't benefit from it either.
Overpriced minor pilgrimage buff, assuming that isn't disabled too.
    >>
    >>2508620
It's not oversight just very silly design with not too obvious use. You can build the everloving shit out of a random cathedral so when you put your pocket antipope or your next character there they have a massive head start since it's essentially a high tier estate building.

It’s better to have a bunch of dukes.
You pay less back in vassal development (dukes get 55%, kings get 70%, emperors get 85%). You get only 2/3rds the treasury income of dukes if you for kings, which then goes further down to 1/3rd if you get emperors.
Technically your gold revenue is untouched as that’s taken out before vassal development. So if you’re supplementing your treasury with gold, you only lose 1/4 of your revenue per tier instead of 1/3rd.

It’s better to have direct duke vassals anyways because civilian themes are really good. And if you have king tier or higher, they’ll also nuke your military budget by making a bunch of useless military themes nowhere near the border. And will not make civilian themes beneath them.
You print more money the more civilian themes you get. If a theme isn’t on the border, make the a civilian. They’ll be able to afford more MAAs from the extra treasury anyways, so it’s not like you’re even losing armies.

Alright, I'm giving up on my Normandy to Jerusalem to Outremer run, it's just cooked. I'm crazy strong, but transitioning from King of France to playing as one of my secondary heirs is just not working out. I mean, I could just make Jerusalem my primary title and give away all my other stuff, but that feels lame.

Anyway, I haven't played CK3 in forever so it made for a good warm up run (I really like the changes to Accolades), and I want to do another run. Should I do another Siberia run, another Russia run, or a Wallachia run? I'm leaning towards Wallachia, probably with a 1066 start date, I've never played that start date and I've never played Wallachia. But maybe there's something else cool you guys think I should do? Siberia is also tempting.
    >>
    >>2509197
You can designate your non-primary heir as your favorite child and hand him the kingdom of Jerusalem beforehand. He should then show up in choose your destiny.

Siberia is now arguably the hardest region in the game. Assuming you're going for one of the tribal permafrost regions. Nomads are very strong and actually have decent army compositions that require good MAAs to beat.
The game routinely spawns new 40k herd nomads every 10 years when there aren't any on the steppe so beating them up is pointless.
So you're kind of stuck being a tributary to largest nearby nomad until you can feudalize and beat endless horse archers. And then you have to accept being a tributary to Gengis Khan or die, followed by black death, and then the game ends.
Russia is in a much better position to consolidate, feudalize, and then beat back the steppe hordes. Plus you'll get to interact with the new Christianity rework. It's currently broken without mods though. I recommend >>2500594 but anon's >>2500703 seems to be pretty good as well.
    >>
    >>2509207
    >You can designate your non-primary heir as your favorite child and hand him the kingdom of Jerusalem beforehand. He should then show up in choose your destiny.

Yeah that's what I did, but without my massive fuck off army I can't stand up to the Abbasids, also his older brother got the conqueror trait and said fuck off army so I have to deal with him too (I can't) and I'm like 10 to top it all off. I came up with this plan too late, maybe if I had done it earlier it would have worked out.

And on the Siberia thing. Is Genghis Khan really that strong now? Last time I did this was before the Nomadic government was introduced, but I still beat him as a small kingdom.
    >>
    >>2509212
He's alot stronger than he used to be, he automatically becomes a conqueror, is a good a general, and will have 100k+ troops 10-15k MAAs after conquering China. You have to stackwipe him or his armies take no casulties from retreating due to insane amounts of screens from horde riders. The one thing he lacks is a good Nomadic capital, conqueror AI is barred from upgrading domiciles and buildings so he never gets the bonuses from that.
You can wait him out to attrition him to death like any doomstacked AI army, but nomads get loads of torchbearers that blow through low fortification level baronies. The Greatest of Khans trait in particular makes fortifications useless against him, so it's best to have Gengis dead ASAP.
You beat him with maxed out heavy cavalry MAAs, good generals, maxed out accolades, and an emphasis on attritioning him to death, but it's less trivial now.
    >>
    >>2509225
So do you think Wallachia in 1066 or Russia in 867 would be a better way to learn about how to deal with nomads?
    >>
    >>2509231
Wallachia is a bit far from the steppe. If you go Wallachia in 867, you'll get to deal with the nomadic Magyars. Past that and you'll have to wait for Gengis, unless a conqueror super Khazaria happens.
Russia is constantly raided by vikings and nomads, so best to go Russia if you want to deal with nomads.

I currently just have it be so that an event is fired when you siege Antioch, Tripoli, or Edessa with an option to establish an independent principality. The coastal states simply immediately annex the entire duchy and join the crusade; Edessa is a little more complex.

There's also an option to grant it to the Byzantines; I might also add an event to allow the principalities to join either them or Jerusalem once the crusade is won; though I suppose that could also be left up to the mechanics

I know, I think there's a mod for it. Eastern Europe is in need of an update. But in the mean time Russians don't even get longships, (while the Normans and English do), and the Russia area is the one area that benefits the most from having them IMHO. Maybe Ruslander? Does that make sense?

I really hate that they swapped vengeful for sadistic in the Norse religion. I never get the feeling from the sagas that being sadistic was a moral obligation in the same way that taking vengeance was. I mean sure tearing someone's ribs into blood wings is a sadistic act, but the point seemed to be the vengeance, not the sadism.

I really hope they fix that.

it would be the most revisionist bullshit ever released by Paradox. Kyiv would be the center of the universe, Muscovy would be a backwards swamp full of aggressive mutants who exist solely to be killed by the heckin wholesome Ukraine player.

I mean was Moscow even that important in the Medieval time? And wasn't Novgorod not even that important until post Mongol invasion?

Look my point is that Russian culture (in game, I don't know enough about them to make that call irl) sucks and needs a buff.

Can you chose what baronies legendary buildings go in yet?
    >>
Still wondering if I should get this game, did they ever fix all of Catholicism becoming a feminist cannibal gay cult?
    >>
    >>2510073
For the most part yes. I never saw anything too heretical getting accepted by the Church.

Another Russia run, or a Czech run where I go get guns early and some other silk road innovations?
    >>
    >>2510066
You get to choose the county, it always goes in the county capital. Just reassign the county capital to the barony you wish to build it in. You do have to directly hold the county/barony still. The limit for raising them isn't per county, it's per barony, so theoretically, you can have a legendary building in every barony.
    >>
    >>2510088
Okay that's fine. I just hate the old system, because if my capital doesn't have a special building then I want to wait until I can get the legendary watchtower to put it there. I really like my capital to have a defensive special building, that's one of the reasons London is my favorite capital.

It's easy to just mod it in yourself, man. Just copy and paste the tradition.

Then swap it back. It won't affect achievement if you care about that.

Silk Road innovations are tedious to get if you're not immediately next to one of the trade depots. Besides, guns are kind of bad. You get them very late, at which point you should have enough gold for heavy cavs or infantry. Both of which completely outclass all other MAAs, including guns.
If you are going for Silk Road Innovations, Double-Entry Bookkeeping, Grenades, Compass, Pharmacopoeia, Waterworks, and Block Printing are the best innovations, in that order. The rest are situational. The only two worth having as a facination are Double-Entry Bookkeeping, an extra 5% tax is very nice. And Waterworks, whose building gives more gold than hospices when a barony's income exceeds 5, gives a bit of plague resistance, and alot of dev growth.

Was he actually going to convert to Islam?
    >>
    >>2510138
There's a story where he was deciding between Christianity, Judaism (the Khazars were right there) and Islam. He decided against Judaism, because he thought if their God was real then he wouldn't let them lose the temple, and he decided against Islam because it doesn't allow drinking. How accurate this all is is questionable though, The Byzantines were probably their best bet for an ally at the time.

Even getting the early fire lancers isn't good? But I want to larp as Jan Zizka. I don't know, do the Czechs get a good cultural unit? I started the Russia run and then I remembered that I hate dealing with a big realm.

Just watch some YouTube videos. In my experience Bjorn Ironside is the easiest start for a newbie. At least in my experience.

Wait a minute, since when does Bohemia start as feudal?
    >>
    >>2510142
Kind of, but they have to reform for it, Zbrojnosh has marginally different stats than regular heavy infantry and is more expensive. If you reform for Konni Raids, Konni is the best light cavalry. Light cavalry are in weird middle ground in terms of stats and cost, but they should be enough to beat the AI. They do get the mega duchy though. Makes succession and gold easy.

Cultural units live and die by accessibility, Gendarmes and Palatini are the two best MAAs, bar none. You would never know that though because the game is over before you can get them.

You're really reliant on RNG for getting Fire Lancers. They have 25% more attack and are 25% cheaper than heavy infantry, but are 72% less tough. Worse modifier stacking potential as well. By the time you unlock them, you can afford heavy infantry or cavalry, in which case you're giving up stats for them.

Holy shit Bohemia in 867 is a hard start. You're surrounded by people stronger than you and you have no money. Any tips?

Asking East Francia to be your suzerain with low obligations will prevent you from being attacked by tribals or holy warred by Christians. Asking to be his vassal will result in getting your title revoked or a war you can't win.
You start with 100 heavy infantry that you should keep to raid in the meantime, but you can't pay for MAAs with prestige like tribals so its usefulness is limited.
Then you have to study rite with clerical assistance to get a chance of converting to Roman Rite. If you do, you won't get holy warred and can transition to being a regular member of the HRE with low or no obligations and pay less in liege taxes. Holy orders will solve being attacked by pagans.
Beg your HoF for money, build up your economy and buy decent MAAs for the transition to independence.

    >>2510208
Good tip on the suzerain. I was gonna start as his son though. But when I take the throne we'll see how things are looking. I do hope they form the HRE, playing as a vassal can be fun.

Alternatively I could just play as Haestien or some other viking, and just Varangian adventure for the land, but I really want to play as the Přemyslid dynasty.
