Owlcat are so weird about itemisation. Play Rogue Trader, and there's too many boots that basically do the same things. Play WotR and there's not enough boots for the whole party, not enough bracers that aren't armor or archery, and generally not enough gloves. Also what happened to multi-stat circlets? Kingmaker had those.
>TQI never outright dropped a crpg, but I've quit multiple attempts to replay Fallout until I eventually gave up trying to replay it about seven years ago, and I quit my first playthrough of Rogue Trader after Janus because I spared the eldar and had to uninstall in disgrace.
Due to lack of resources, Owlcat is having Starrok mocap Regina's sex scene

>>586291734>When was the last time you dropped a CRPG?Dropped poe last year because I got bored
I'll just post this disclaimer each day to help dissuade and educate shitposters.>not a crpg!VTMB2 is a CRPG under the test that it tries to recreate pen-and-paper role-playing. Tabletop Vampire is about personal and political horror, not just fighting. Bloodlines 2 captures that. You choose a clan and powers, shape your past through dialogue, and decide what to reveal and whom to trust. Characters judge your words through your past behaviors. The same answer can earn trust or cause offence. That may in fact capture a social Vampire session better than the original in some ways: reading people, managing trust and seeing past choices shape later events. These are not just scenes you watch. They are problems you solve through role-playing. Copying more stats is not the same as recreating more role-playing. The test is whether it tries to recreate tabletop play, not whether it copies every rule. I consider it a CRPG, and anyone who thinks about it with an apt mind will come to the same conclusion. If you disagree, that's fine, I invite you to simply post about something else and anons will engage with you if they find it interesting. Posting my VTMB2 playthrough does not prevent you from talking about Warhammer again. No further address will be given to you people, I am playing and posting the CRPG Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2, and the only thing you can do about this is nothing. The choice to act normal or throw a fit is yours, and yours alone. With that out of the way, let's resume.

Our fellow Tremere and hopefully our Blush of Life study partner, Safia, has been helping us out with our little binding problem since we first met. She finally thinks she has the answer, an old ritual tied to Goratrix - an old rival of my sire, and known traitor who worked with the Sabbat - and wants to meet to discuss it. But rather than our usual meeting place in her lab or in the makeshift chantry at Wake the Dead, we're directed to meet her at a conservatory in the park. Safia, flowers, privacy, the soft snow, finally being rid of this damned mark, Safia, what could be better?
Of course things go sour right away, this is a world of darkness after all. Poor Safia must have gotten herself ambushed by something or someone, whatever drew her to this place. Out of character of course I know what is coming, but in character this is a great RP excuse to just run through everyone frantically rather than the usual Batman predator mode approach. As I've said a million times, the atmosphere and presentation layer in this game is extremely top notch, and it's a crying shame that people won't give it a chance because they're only depriving themselves - the panic in the voices, the eerie quiet (this is one of the few games with the discipline and taste to not play music at all times), the clues in the environment itself like bloody handprints, all of it helps sell the moment so well. It's also one of the moments where choice and consequences are maybe a bit to subtle for the game's own good - you can find it on youtube, but Phyre's voice delivery here actually changes based on how you've treated Safia throughout the game. A character that was suspicious of her or indifferent sounds very different to one which has been friendly or even flirty, a great compromise between a voice protagonist and the need for a blank-slate in a CRPG, and something I wish more developers would invest in.
>>586294728Terrible taste colouring your vision probably
I picked the right dungeon to enter on Halloweendidn't expect a creepy abandoned mansion in such a lush forest
A Sabbat blood bonding ritual - something else that really shouldn't be written down, a pattern in this game, but I guess that's just one of those video game contrivances to communicate things to the player, like when you get a journal entry in other games and you see someone wrote "we're being chased by the monster, its almost in, AHHHH!"And I guess the Sabbat aren't as concerned with that sort of secrecy anyways. We'll chalk it up to a shovelhead with a poor memory.
The further we go, the more corpses we find, 'unbirthed' crawling around, and a few full on vampires that are a bit tougher than the usual ghouls and thin-bloods. I especially like the Nosferatu that uses obfuscate against you, they still show up under auspex but otherwise you just get foot steps. Much better use of disciplines against the player in this one.
>>586296150on one hand, this is funny, but it also hints at the ship being shitty
As we go deeper we find a hidden, locked room with a lot of stored blood, chalkboards, salt circles. A Tremere player will recognize the hermetic markings, while others will just know they're some sort of vague magic thing. Not something that changes the game, but a nice touch.
>>586294589Winterscale at home
>>586294589pirate maybe. not to be confused with crime lord
We also find a hit list of high ranking kindred in Seattle. The former and current Prince, the former sheriff, Ysabella, Tolly, even Fabien. Strangely this includes several known Sabbat collaborators like Benny or Ysabella. No primogen beyond Ysabella (and I guess Tolly?), no anarchs, no Phyre.
>hommfag stops posting>blogposter shows upI'm noticing.
While I enjoy this section for mood, its another one of those places that just seems video gamey and doesn't make a lot of sense. There's this entire prison complex beneath a city park? Nobody knows about it? How does it get power, water? I guess you just can't think about it too much. The overall vibe reminds me of the first visit to Grout's house, with the ghouls mumbling in a corner.
>>586297327Don't know what a "homm" is. You people are always trying to group us together into the same person - maybe I'm multiple people instead? Wouldn't that be something.

>>586296361That's the one in Emerald Graves, right? That was a good dungeon.
>>586296054That is cool. This game is on my list to eventually play since I liked the first one but new stuff keeps coming out too fast to play everything, despite my best efforts.
Another really praiseworthy voice acting moment. Even as a centuries old super predator and monster, you can't help but feel a bit of sadness for her here. The slight tremble in the voice, the hesitation, the way she's almost whispering, chef's kiss.
>>586296361I'd replay the game if it wasn't bugged and unfinished
>>586298524
We find various research notes indicating different attempts to feed our blood to creatures or ghouls, to use it in rituals, to feed us lupine blood, etc., and even a few communiques from Beckett like this one.
The lowest levels of the lab have a creepy emptiness rather than being filled with disposable goons, and a strange technocracy sort of vibe. Vitae and sigils and computers and vats, modern magic.
I believe this sort of space scares zoomers almost as much as the idea of talking to a waitress and ordering their own food. Something about hallways.

A heart sinking moment. We see the body and our mark, not close enough to identify it yet, but we know. Again, silence and just letting things breathe is a powerful tool for storytelling and presentation and once you see it its hard to ignore how many other devs just can't get it. No Fabien telling us to focus, no music, just soft footsteps. I guess the programming logic for knowing when playing your orchestral score is or isn't tasteful is hard to work out, but it's worth it.
Poor Safia, always so kind to us and now look what happened to her for trying to help us. >why isn't she ashWhen they die, kindred rapidly catch up to their age. An elder like Phyre may very well turn to dust, but Safia is barely a century old. The old game having everyone turn to ash was just a way to save system resources, not real lore.

Someone mentioned in the previous thread that owlclowns are teasing something for dh. What was the tease?
We carry Safia's body out of that place, and fade to black to the court. How did we carry the desiccated corpse of an old woman through the park without anyone bothering us? Don't think about it.RP wise, it feels most appropriate to be remorseful here rather than task-focused. We're high humanity, Safia was friendly and a clan mate, died helping us, and if we had been there maybe we could have saved her.
>>586300782i made one between my capital and the 2 other colonies and footfallare they getting erased or something?
A running theme in later interactions with Lou is that the game really should have let us take a swing at her before we can, so you have to sort of head canon increasingly flimsy RP excuses for why you aren't killing her. She hasn't been terribly respectful of Safia throughout the game, and obviously this isn't the most tactful time or best company for it, but I guess we still have some wits about us and aren't for certain that we could take her, Ryong, and Tolly all at once yet.
>>586301125no man it's just a matter of not wasting them all you'll want the points
Still, RP-wise she is for certain going to die now. Maybe I need to get rid of this binding to be my full self again, maybe I need to get her somewhere else, but she's out.
>>586300869don't know yet
>>586296054>Phyre's voice delivery here actually changes based on how you've treated Safia throughout the game. A character that was suspicious of her or indifferent sounds very different to one which has been friendly or even flirtyHuh. Wonder why more games don't do this?
>>586301465Well, they must have said something for people to conclude that they're teasing it. What was it? Or is it just generic "tee-hee, we're gonna show something real soon, please be excited"?
>>586292483> Also what happened to multi-stat circletsHeadband of mental perfection? There are a bunch of versions. Or do you mean in rogue trader?
Lou starts giving orders like she's the Prince, and as soon as her childe gently corrects her she gets dominated back into position - this feels like it should be a bigger deal, and would have been a great moment to let player's take out Lou. Sire or not, you can't just dominate a Prince, and she's doing it in full view of the sheriff and what I assume to be the Nosferatu primogen/court spymaster. This is a pretty big no-no, and kind of feels like a dropped ball in terms of lore and CRPG mechanics, and is one of the harder things in the game to headcanon away. You almost have to just pretend it was Fabien imagining things to make it work.
>>586301683>"tee-hee, we're gonna show something real soon, please be excited"?It was just this

>>586301532Expense, lack of attention to detail, lack of commitment to choices and consequences. I think a lot of developers even in this genre are of the attitude that spending resources on content that only 10% of players will see is a waste, which is why so many choices in CRPGs tend to just be flavor that converge back onto the same rails anyways.CDPR did an interview recently where they talked about the big choice in The Witcher 2 and how it changed act 2 entirely, and even they consider that a waste of resources now. You look at something like Baldur's Gate 3 where Minthara as a companion was the only real reward for the evil path, and what did they do? Patch in a way to make the content available no matter what. That's just the attitude in the industry right now, and that's a game that is unusually strong on choices+consequences compared to most others.Voice acting is also just kind of expensive, and you have to do it in 12+ languages on most games. You have Phyre female and Phyre male record three variations, and then you have to do it again in Spanish, French, Japanese, Russia, Italian, and so on. My hope is that in 10-15 years AI voicing will be so cheap and so good that it just sort of deletes this cost without sacrificing quality, and voice acting isn't a constraint on games anymore.
>>586301683I also noticed someone said that in the last thread but I'm not sure what Owlcat has even said so hard to guess what they're hinting at, maybe we're getting trolled.

why take this? does this do anything?
Lou is convinced that Katsumi and her meetings with out-of-city kindred that I ratted about are connected to our Sabbat problem, and wants her head. I'll do it, but I need to check in with the clan first, especially as we just lost our third member. You get a very different conversation with Mrs. Thorn when you tell her about Safia based on whether or not you're a Tremere, and (slightly, seems to change only one line) how respectful/deferential you've been to her so far. We've always respected the hierarchy - even if we're technically older and maybe better versed in thaumaturgy - so she's a little more open about it, both of us vowing revenge. She also has one last delivery to make, another rune sealed package to a 'Mr. Swann', who she implores us to treat with respect. I guess the world keeps turning.
>>586302871I've literally never seen this

Most of our deliveries have been fairly uneventful up to now - the packages are obviously magical in nature, at various times smelling like lupine blood, always magically sealed and so on - but not much more complicated than a courier service and to people who don't really seem to know who they're dealing with. This one is quite different, with a door appearing magically in an alley, and a non-kindred who recognizes who and what I am immediately. He asks us to tell Mrs Thorn that the compact is fulfilled, the binding is complete, and "The Tapestry remembers". We've been dealing with a group of mages, delivering various items or ingredients to them.

Back at our makeshift chantry, Thorn lets us in on the plan, that she's been cutting deals with other supernaturals in and around the city and will be setting up an actual chantry here. Can't help but feel sad for Safia, she might have liked having a real library, maybe a bump up from apprentice. But still, new apprentices will come, and this is a good thing, our clan has taken a few hits since I've been asleep, and as Lou is quick to remind us we aren't very well liked. The sooner we can organize, increase our numbers, get our safe(r) haven setup, the better.
>>586303429>i dont know if it's me being iconclastIf you get choices that don't amount to muh alignment you should cherish them and pick something that informs your character as more than a one dimensional lobotomy experiment.especially since you haven't even had the lobotomy yet

>>586304260It's worth noting that Incendia's actions are considered abnormal by your retinue and most people you talk to.
But she has plans beyond just a chantry - the court here is obviously falling apart, and there's an opportunity to make this city ours. She asks us point blank if we'll back her for Prince when the time comes. Obviously that's an easy yes - I'm going to help my clan wherever I can, Lou is setting herself up for a return to power soon which means Ryong isn't long for this world, and I'm already planning to kill Lou the first chance I get. The court here is so thin that the only possible opposition now would be Tolly, another I'd be happy to boil up. By the end of this we'll have a new Tremere Prince, her Tremere sheriff enforcer, a new chantry, a new Vienna. But first, lets find Katsumi and figure what we'll do with her.

You have the option to ask her to back a play against Lou here - mechanically it doesn't work because I've done nothing but disrespect and piss her off all game, but this is one of the places that helps determine what sort of ending you get and who ends up in charge when the credits roll. From an RP perspective, I have less than zero respect for the anarchs in this city, or what's left of them, and have zero intention of keeping any word I give her. Still, she may be useful - her anarchs can take a run at Lou, and if they succeed I kill them off and the path is clear for Mrs. Thorn to wear the crown. If they fail, we can kill Lou anyways and pin it on them, or use the on-going strife as a clear sign she isn't fit to rule. The worst that can happen is I have to spend a few weeks clearing out the remaining anarchs, which I'm going to do anyways. We already have a serious inquisition problem in this city, a lot of it because of poor judgement on the part of anarchs, we can't have this riff-raff running around like this anymore. Still, she doesn't like me enough to trust me, and technically I would have killed her eventually so who can blame her. We move to finish her but catch a sniper bullet in the arm before we can.
>>586304862One of those things I can write off as just being true to the locale. Imagine a coffee shop in a modern day west coast city with a mini library and a gothic sounding name, what sort of names would they have? It's all just verisimilitude. Some of the anarchs wearing biker leather have weird commie pins or tattoos too if you look, but they would wouldn't they? While I'm not a racist, many have noticed that I really don't care for black people - being around them, seeing them, hearing them. Both in a RP character sense and in real life. But while I find them obnoxious and out of place in a game like Kingdom Come 2, they're garish in the druid's grove, but they're just a logical part of the scenery in Night City. It's that same sort of thought. Verisimilitude matters more to me than other concerns, and is a key part of making a game's environments feel true.>>586305230I don't think we hear her exact year of embrace, but she refers to us as an elder of her own clan and notes she has nothing to teach us, so we can assume she's actually younger than we are. Phyre just had the good luck to be embraced at 17 and Thorn got it at 70, a sort of reverse Claudia.

We eventually run down the shooter and find Damsel waiting for us. It's...okay. Her presence does make a bit of sense, Katsumi realizes her position is a lot weaker than it used to be, she's calling for some backup and some heavier hitter anarchs are heading up for what seems like an inevitable war, hence the secret meetings the IAO picked up on. But this is really one of the only true 'remember when' moments in the game that feels kind of forced, and I never really cared about Damsel to begin with. If anyone they should have sent in Smiling Jack, or Nines. I can't tell if it's the same voice actress or not, she doesn't sound the same but it has been 20 years. She calls us Sabrina as in 'teenage witch' because we're Tremere, a reference I have to assume goes over Phyre's head. Maybe she's trying to guess our true name? In any case, the Mexican standoff ends nonviolently, and we're convinced Katsumi is in the wind and that the anarchs aren't involved with the sabbat in the first place, actually having taken some losses to them. I don't particularly want a dragon's breath to the chest, so we call it even and head back.

I think the profit factor system was 90% great, it lets you experiment with things you normally wouldn't . Put those grenades in my bag so I may fuck around with them, I may find a use for that suboptimal cloak for a while if it's a freebie while I try to buy the axe I want but I would never pay gold for the shitty cloak if it was going to cost me gold pulling meaway from the axe I want. Of course I still end the game with 70 medikits and 60 grenades and a bunch of named melta guns that I have no intention of ever using. But the consumables was me being stingy as usual, the grenades were decent, grenadier fit in builds easily, stims were also fun to use, maybe a bit unbalanced but they worked well as a way to turn the fight in an emergency. Reputation I'm less sure about, the idea is that you're making a tradeoff advancing with some faction delays you with the rest but in practice it's trivial to max everyone in act 4, so it just makes you a hobo picking up trash weapons from trash mobs so you can dump them later which is the issue the usual gold system usually has.
Unfortunately, it's clear that something serious has jumped off while we were busy chasing our tail with the anarchs. There are police everywhere, roadblocks setup all around Weaver Tower, armed shootouts and a lot of scared mortals running around. The thought occurs to Fabien that the wild goose chase was intentional, and someone wanted to make sure the sheriff wasn't near the Prince.
Slipping past the police is no trouble, but the entrance looks like the Matrix lobby shootout. We take an elevator up and there's no real sign of anything going on, no gunfire or dead bodies, but by the time we make it to Ryong's office we see her tied up, staked, but alone. Uh oh.
>>586307085>in practice it's trivial to max everyone in act 4That's only because they've listened to whiny faggots who were complaining about being unable to max all factions. Never should have listened to them. It should have been another roleplaying choice for you to make. Also gaining reputation with one faction should have lowered it with another. For example trading with void pirates lowers the navy reputation, and trading with casballica lowers drusians and explorators reputation
Attempting to remove the stake produces a headphone destroying shriek of pain, our binding marks activating for the first time in a while. Whoever hit the Prince must be involved in our predicament too.
What the!? Safia! We'll pause here for me to get a bite, then we'll return for the final batch of Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2. I know this is a sad moment for many of you, but as a wise man once said, "don't cry because it's over; smile because it happened."

In her villain-explains-plot-to-audience moment, Safia lays bares the game's events. Safia and Gideon were bound to each other, and when Gideon went missing, Safia couldn't let it go. By the time she found him, his body was ruined beyond any hope, mad (even for a Malkavian) with hunger. Lou had done it and gotten away with it. She didn't give a damn about Caine or the Sabbat, but she wanted revenge on Lou and the Camarilla that turned a blind eye. The binding was meant to weaken me, and when they woke me up near Gideon the beast would take over and I'd drain him dry, diablerie. Weakened by the mark, Gideon would take my body, and with his new strength slay Lou finally. Of course, Fabien found me early, and I drained him instead - not quite strong enough to take over, but still in my head. When she discovered that Gideon had been destroyed and the last hope lost, Safia resolved to simply burn it all down. Lou, Seattle, the Masquerade. All of it was originally well intentioned revenge.
A failure of communication - if you had just explained the situation Safia, I might have been cross for a few nights, but I probably would have helped you. Not with your horde of unbirthed, but we could have killed Lou together. I would have dragged Lou around to your lab and let you mark her up so Gideon could infest her instead even. What a gut punch.
The intended meaning here is that she's not the mouse she pretended to be, and has been plotting against the court for a long time. But the original story here (based on data mining) was actually that we never met the real Safia, only in Fabien's flashbacks, and the 'Safia' we met in the modern times was a Tzimisce named Cemile. That got cut at some point in development, but you still see bits of it. The fake Safia corpse was a fleshcrafted fledgling, her obsessive behavior. Her story is also repurposed from Elif, the Tremere girl in the hardsuit labs version of the game. There's a 'final boss' version of Safia we see later, and you can datamine the exact same look for Elif.
Safia still wants us to join, but I can't really be party to something like this. If she was just killing Lou, I'd be all for it, but sending a bunch of monsters into the street in broad daylight is a step beyond.
Unstaked, we kick ourselves back through the window, a long fall and one last look at the sun before final death.
We survive just long enough to crawl into a sewer though. I guess if Beckett can survive running across a football field, we can survive a short crawl. We're burning up the whole time and screaming, but we make it just in time to pass out, one last dream with Fabien.
>>586310524When did you first get suspicious of this bitch? was the rebar killer copycat supposed to be a clue? I think I would have remained clueless until the reveal... she's a good actress at least
You know generally blogposting isn't just poorly narrating the entire fucking game scene by scene.
Will Regina be submissive or dominant during her sex scene? Or maybe a switch?
>>586311998I wasn't suspicious of her at all in my first playthrough, took me by surprise totally, a Darth Revan size twist in my book. In hindsight you can see little bits of it here and there if you're more logical and cynical about it, but at the time she just seemed like the usual CRPG waifu writing - mousy, interested in the player, cute, needs saving, dies to give you that last bit of personal motivation. I was sure the final villains were Lou or Tolly.
>>586312031Blogposting should be about sharing your thoughts on what the game does well or poorly, the narrative, interesting details, roleplaying, and all the things anon has discussed.
>>586312031why does this not count as purposely spoiling a game
>>586307695> Also gaining reputation with one faction should have lowered it with another.Part of me likes that, in the settlement projects it's where I think it makes the most sense. The issue you may run into is that it may lead you into doing meta things like rushing explorators to 7 while keeping everything on hold with kasballica even side missions and then dumping explorators forever. If you can go down levels the optimal behavior could be strange. But I'm definitely game for the projects being the big way to earn reputation and making them more exclusive. Not that it matters since the game is already done but you know.
Our last flashback is Fabien visiting a makeshift grave for Gideon, once again having solved the case and even remembering that they'll just wipe his mind again. He wants to go to the Justicars - a type of super-sheriff in the Camarilla who could come in and clean house in Seattle - but he needs more proof than he has. He remembers Safia's voice recorder doohickey, and sets out a plan to once again bring the evidence to Campbell, record his usual bragging confession and attempt to dominate away the evidence, and then use that recording against him. Technically using a recording device on kindred is as likely as not to get Fabien himself killed by the Justicars in 2024, but I guess he doesn't realize that yet. Still, we run around town getting the device, and locating Campbell, who has gone to a warehouse to check on a shipment of some sort of 'weapon' his sources have obtained.
Put on a fucking name so we can filter you
>>586312619Nobody’s reading any of this
As usual though, poor Fabien has the worst luck and isn't very caught up on how modern life works. The recorder makes a little whirling noise, enough that Campbell immediately notices it. Who knows, maybe this isn't the first time Fabien has tried this trick either? In any case, he does the usual routine of dominating Fabien, but in this case he has one extra use for him. This box might be dangerous, and who knows what tragedy could befall a Prince who opens it. He'll have Fabien talk to it instead, opening it.
oh those were gene stealers right before the bloodspun temple
>>586312947he's got one fanboy responding. it might be him though
>>586312593Good point, me.
Fabien talks to the box and discovers there is an elder inside, who just needs a bit of blood to awake. As you talk to her, her lines are actually the same things she says during character creation, which is a cool little touch. Fabien realizes that as soon as he opens it, Campbell is going to kill him, so he makes one last suicide run. Opens it, cuts his own wrist, and feeds the torpid elder enough to wake her up. She promptly kills and drains Fabien, before turning on Campbell himself. The mystery of why Fabien opened the box and who killed JJ Campbell solved.
>>586313201I don't mind that he posts this shit, he should be allowed to, but he should be forced to namefag so we can filter him.
One flashback further to the 20s, sometime after Gideon's disappearance. Fabien and Safia have met at a grave site - they can't recover his body or find any clue as to what happened, but they know he's gone, and this is the best they can do. Fabien apologizes to Safia but there's just no lead, and she's obviously upset, no longer the happier crossword Safia we met before.

Safia says that while Fabien couldn't find any answers, Safia is going to find them, some way beyond his means. She's leaving the city, but promises him she'll return. I don't think she knew exactly what had happened to Gideon yet, or she'd have told him here, but she strongly suspected it was Lou and was already plotting revenge. I'm entering torpor maybe a year or two after this, it's a pity we didn't cross paths sooner, all this could have been prevented.

One last dig at poor Fabien. On the one hand, unnecessarily mean spirited, but on the other she's hurting. And to Fabien's credit, he's a better detective than she (or he) thinks, he solved the case repeatedly, only for Ventrue to take it away. They're not the Tzimisce, but they have to be in the running for second worst clan.

One last chat with Fabien. First time we get to talk to Phyre from Fabien's perspective, which is a little strange from an RP perspective since "my" character is now selecting dialogue that I didn't pick, but she doesn't really say anything out of character either I guess. I've never tested it because I never antagonize Fabien, but I wonder if the words are written or delivered differently based on that relationship here? In any case, one last great performance, Fabien is afraid to finally die for real, but he's tired. There's an obvious parallel between Fabien and Johnny Silverhand, and that last talk with Johnny at the end of the game is one of my favorites, "wrong city, wrong people", very similar vibe here. Thanks for saving me Fabien.

So did The Expanse talk break him or what is the cause of the schizoid spam?
We wake up in a dark tunnel, finally alone in our own head. When we make our way up through what turns out to be the church basement, we emerge into the streets to find them totally empty and eerily quiet. Foot prints and blood everywhere.
When we make our way back to the tower, we see the mark hastily scrawled all over the place in blood, I assume one final attempt to weaken us when they realize we might have survived. No mechanical difference at all that I'm aware of (nor should there be, being weakened for the big finale would be gay), but it's a nice touch.
>>586314425>video games the generalyeah sadly
>>586314235He intends to spam E33 eventually so you might as well do it, this general is trash anyway
what do you fellas think of my latest bg3 self insert?
Here we see a collection of anons, screaming and climbing the walls in rage that someone is playing an unapproved CRPG in the CRPG thread. There's a lot of fighting in the tower, this is our combat heavy finale as is VTMB tradition after all, but nothing much to it. It is nice to RP a very enraged and frantic Phyre just tearing through everyone once you have the XP for it. Most of the CRPG in this game is conversational, so its a stark change to be so combat heavy in the end, same as it was in the original game. But the combat here is so much better that I guess it doesn't drag quite as much.
I want a general where we talk about pic related
>>586315437why is the cyberpunk 2077 reddit page filled with trannies?
Riding up to the top, this little nod to Fabien tickles me. It again reminds me of Johnny Silverhand, my favorite ending in 2077 was letting Arasaka cut him out, only to reject their deal when it didn't work and going back to Earth. V gives them the finger and sings Never Fade Away to herself, that little bit of Johnny forever imprinted onto her now. Fabien isn't in her head, but some bit of him will always be there, that detective mindset, the way of looking at things. I just like it.
>>586315249he already posted his newest self insert troony here
You have some options when you finally encounter and confront Safia at the top of the tower, currently engaged in some kind of godless ritual or another. Obviously you fight no matter what you pick, she's the final boss, so it's all just for flavor and RP. I'm remorseful about it, betrayed and sad, and I'm glad that they wrote enough lines to really accommodate that feeling instead of just doing the usual zoomer meme "time to DIE" nonsense you often see in these situations.
>>586312652I just get mad thinking about how good the game could have been and how much you could improve it
The overall fight is really well done, especially between two Tremere. Safia can use a lot of the same spells you can, including a few new ones. And as I've mentioned before, the game is really great about ensuring that your disciplines work on everyone, it isn't one of those CRPGs where you get cool-new-spell but it only works on one-hit mooks anyways. You can use blood curse on her, boil her, and she can use the teleport same as you, some kind of blood shield ability like the first one, and so on. I kind of wish we had gotten more content around her and Thorn, some magical duels here and there would have been neat.Safia for her part looks quite different - naked with strategically placed long hair to cover up anything interesting, sigils carved into her own skin, covered in blood, more beast than the stuttering researcher. Good design.
The hero wins in the end of course. She tries to use the mark one last time, but can't. Too weak, the sheriff is too strong, who knows. Reminds me of LaCroix dominating you throughout the original, only for it to suddenly stop working when he needs the key for the sarcophagus. Just one of those dramatically appropriate things I guess.
namefag's ultimate dickrider is also the only vtmb2 fan in the world. Wonder if he's a chink room dev
Can we rename /crpgg/ to /rpgg/ now???
Phyre had imagined exchanging fluids with a naked Safia for several nights leading up to this point, but sadly it didn't work out the way she hoped. In-character, I think even after everything she's at least partially sympathetic to Safia, especially seeing how things played out and what led her to it. The huge Masquerade breach, the torture and enslavement, all kinda hard to get over. But the mouse she pretended to be is who she really was once, and ultimately she was right about Lou and the injustice of it all. If things had gone differently, a little more patience, Thorn and I would have served her Lou's breasts on a platter a few nights from now. What a waste.
The mark is gone, but so is Safia. A quiet, bittersweet moment.
As is CRPG tradition, the various endings are delivered by slides. I wish the game had been more successful, maybe we could have gotten a post-game epilogue section too. It would be nice to help rebuild, or go on the run, whatever ends up happening.
Oh yes, the excellent crpg Fallout 3.
>>586316692I like vtmb2. It’s a terrible sequel to bloodlines and doesn’t belong here though.
>>586317658Doesn't matter. Irrelevant.
I don't know Tolly, this seems really weak. The streets of a major American city were absolutely cleared, there's a skyscrapper where we can reasonably assume every single person inside has died violently, there was a major hunter/inquisition presence in the city already. I don't see how you can possibly wave that away with a gas leak. While I enjoy the story overall (more than the original in fact), this is one area where they should have done a rewrite. Obviously a major Masquerade ending event can't exist in the lore because they want to keep telling VtM stories, so just don't have a major Masquerade ending event. Which is what this was, there's just no way around it. They could have and should have done something on a smaller scale, Safia simply killing the Court and we stop her. A lot of game devs do this, there's just no foresight. They write stories where player choice must alter the world, but they know ahead of time they can't alter the world, so why bother? Very similar to the phenomenon of writing open-world exploration games with stories that have tight time constraints, knowing that the two contradict each other. Doesn't anyone in video games have any sense?
The inquisition swarmed over Seattle, as one might expect. We wiped out 50+ federal agents, killed their leader, they weren't going to look at that and chalk it up to the wind even before this 'gas leak' nonsense. It's unfortunate that they killed Lou before I got the chance, but I guess dead is dead. They also wiped out Katsumi and her anarchs, and even sent Phyre packing. I guess that makes sense, the hunters had a whole dossier on me already. It does make me wonder what might have happened with Mrs Thorn though, who isn't mentioned - she was positioned to take the city, and now there's an opening, but Seattle sounds like a second Vienna already. It might be smarter to cut her losses and try another town, if she even survived.
Which post pissed this retard off enough to cause this multi week moderately high effort melty
And so marks the end of Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 posting here on /crpgg/. I know for many of you this is a bittersweet moment, you've come to love VTMB2 posting and it has become an important part of /crpgg/ culture. But everything good has to come to an end, always leave them wanting more. And who knows, maybe replaying VTMB2 can become an annual /crpgg/ tradition? Now, we'll take a short break, but as promised soon I'll post another poll, and we the community of /crpgg/ will select ANOTHER crpg to be played through here in our general. Those of you that were upset that VTMB2 was favored by the community over your own picks, this will be your chance. And of course once that game is complete, we'll simply repeat the loop, poll then game. Poll then game. Poll then game. Until then, I'd encourage all anons here to begin playing and posting their own CRPGs. This general doesn't belong to the sub-50s who communicate in text message grunts, so take it back. Playing an Owlcat game, Larian, The Old Republic even? Post it here. Happy Halloween.
kill yourself.
>>586316081I'm out of the loop, played it on release when it was super buggy and just finished it recently for the first time so I don't know what are the most popular complaints. I think it's the Owlcat game I've liked the most but the one I less want to replay. There are some issues with party compositions and I really hate how initiative works or how hard sanctioned psykers shit on Idira. But I enjoyed the shitty minigame of spaceship battles, companions weren't great but not terrible either even if Ulfar felt at times like my adopted teenage emo son. Maybe Argenta missed a bit, it doesn't need to be romance but she felt too distant.

>>586319689Because it isn't against the rules and never was. The game is a CRPG as explained here >>586294360 each day. The fundamental assertion of the diaper shitters here this entire time has been that screaming and crying and stamping their feet would somehow change what the game is, but it never did. "It's not a CRPG!" but the thought never occurs that this isn't up to you. Obese based boys have this idea that you aren't allowed to like or play certain games (which over the last five years has expanded to be almost any game), and if you do they'll try to shout you down. But that didn't work here, and they hate that. They incessantly reply to on-topic discussion of a CRPG with off-topic whining, and are so mentally inverted that they think the situation is reversed. That's crazy.

There's a pissbaby in here who complains about everything. If you don't like a certain game that is posted, post your own game. Contribute, or shut the fuck up. If you are a worthless poster contributing absolutely nothing, then you can't complain when someone else is at least posting a videogame even if you don't like that particular game. One of the most pathetic things you can do here is just impotently bitch at people who are actually posting games. It's so pathetic. He's not avoiding filters either by the way, that involves changing your image filesizes or hashes so people who filter your repeated images see them, or changing the spelling of certain words so people who filter certain phrases still see your posts. You can in fact filter his image dimensions or certain phrases like vtmb2 because he doesn't intentionally avoid filters. You are so fucking stupid you don't even know what the words you try to complain with mean. Genuinely pathetic.

It'll be cheaper and faster to vibecode something bespoke for your game, providing the speed and simplicity benefits of a current day pre-made engine but without all the bloat. Tim is trying to pivot hard to make the engine AI friendly to try and salvage the business, but I think he sees the writing on the wall. I'd look for him to exit entirely in a year or two and leave the final winding down to someone else.

Kinda suck that the "messianic/deus ex machina" that let you save most of innocent is angel path (feel a bit too religious for me so I don't vibe with it that much) while Azata despite being more humanely idealistic doesn't let you save actual innocents like Kyado etc. while letting you redeem uhhh, Minagho? Who give a shit about that whore?
>>586345994>feel a bit too religious for me
yes i invented the grand crpg
>>586346846Well to be exact I am not Christian so I am not super-invested in the whole angel = ultimate force of good in the universe thing. Probably why I never really get into warhammer40K/RT either with the whole god emperor totally-not-jesus dude that the narrative force you to revere him unquestionably.
I am Coatl. I know not where my parents found my name, but it is my name. The sun has baked me golden brown, though one will notice I do not look like others at a prolonged glance. I work for Feng the loremaster. I love history and myth. Though I doubt that will lead to anything important (MAJOR FORESHADOWING)
As if the verbal abuse from the Expedition automatons wasn't enough....However, to be fair, by release order, these came first.
>>586345994shitzata is not about saving innocents. It's about sniffing your own farts while bragging about having a moral highground
>>586348010I confess. I am not an honest man. It's impossible to be in these times, much less in this shithole. Feng doesn't know. And he does not need to know. One word to the thieves, and they would have me killed. Granted, I think I'd manage to do one of them in before I'd fall.

I don't think the stories are as simple as any of us believe.>>586349132Age of Decadence
>>586349217>Age of Decadencelooks cool...
Using the schematics I stole from the blacksmith, I forged myself a weapon and a lightweight armguard. Don't need much armor if I just dodge after all. I don't know why I was drawn to the khopesh. It just looked...beautiful to me. I didn't know it then. I didn't know how useful an axe, sword, and sickle in one was. But they'd know. All would know.I tasted blood for the first time, and I couldn't stop.
The first thing that struck me was how exciting it all was. The sprays of blood, the cries, the rush. But, most of all, just how easy it was. A sword's edge alignment means every strike will draw blood if it touches flesh. Just one good cut, and you're bleeding profusely. I was too drunk on battle to notice how wounded I was. It's a good thing I stole salves from the alchemist staying at the inn. I would've never recovered otherwise.I don't remember why I even approached them. I think I just wanted to see if I could kill them. And I did. Maybe if someone stopped me, I would've never turned out the way I did. But no one could stop me. No one.
>>586348221>moral high groundlol most of the time it's not even that, the path is more about impulsive freedoms and natural beauty. the line that separates demon and azata is just that demons are actually fucking miserable
When I discovered I was good at killing, really that I had a taste for it, I went to Neleos. I just killed 4 men singlehandedly and thought I was a demon, like most young men. Why not kill and get paid for it? The imperial guards thought I was too weak, and I fought more with finesse and brain than brawn. Truthfully, I didn't even know what finesse was. Not yet, at least. I could barely nick a heart at the time.
People underestimate how much it takes to kill a man and overestimate how much it takes to die. Even if you slit a man's throat to his spine, he might give off one dying slash, a twitch of his hand. A ruptured lung, a pierced heart, or severed blood vessel. When you finally figure out where, how, and when to attack... You are above all others. Not even the Boatmen were that skilled.
>>586350936>he got the bad end
>>586351267I didn't get a demon end, I went legend, had amazing sex with Arueshalae and never went back to finish demon after the fork.

I don't know what madness made me break into the Daratan Compound. Really, Antidas was lucky Aurelian had not contracted the Boatmen at the time. It was far too easy to kill his men and rob him. To think he'd let me go with promise of the map and an unfaithful pledge of loyalty.

To kill or not to kill. It would've been easy to kill Esbenus and his men, especially after their attack on the smelter outpost. But who was to say I wouldn't have use for him sometime later? To think it would lead to something utterly unimaginable. Neither of us knew. Only he was afraid though. I knew what that thing was.
>>586351750Anon why are you a raging faggot?
In the end, I crossed Feng. I was with the Boatmen then. And a liegeman of Antidas. Cassius knew more than he did and taught me more. His use dried up. I knew where I needed to go if I was to learn more: Maadoran. The
An Ordu and a sheep herder. That's who Miltiades hired to kill naive traders and merchants. I knew it was a trap. I just wanted the gold they'd taken from others. And I knew he was setting me up for another trap after I killed those two. What can I say. I had fun.

A noble with a steel gladius and his two bodyguards came next. They fared as well as the last two. I could've talked them down, but I wanted his clothing and his sword. Miltiades would get me into these predicaments again in the future. And I can't blame him for it because I knew what I was getting into every time.
Any wise man would've stopped after walking into the first four obvious traps. I was wise, but I wanted to feel my axe-sword cleave through flesh more. That was the last of everyone troubling in Teron. Well, almost. I myself cannot believe what I did next looking back, but I still did it. I wanted to feel alive. I wanted to be the best.>>586353198honest mistake
I wish I had fought Dias. Specifically, he was aware of my hostility before I shot him with the crossbow. Neleos and Fulvio died too quickly. Coltan taught me how to mix salves and poison for my blade, killing my enemies even faster through their blood, but he was too slow and old to stop me from hacking him apart before he could shoot me with a poisoned crossbow bolt. I will never forget Agatai. Hulking Ordu bastard. I had to choke him with a well-thrown bolas to his throat. I cleaved his head twice and he still wouldn't die. But he fell soon after when I hacked into his chest.I didn't do it because I was afraid of the guards' retaliation if we killed their commander. I did it because I wanted to assassinate assassins. To see if I was superior. And I was.

The look on Dellar's face when I, who swore allegiance to Antidas, killed Antidas was hilarious. He was a strong and tough bastard, clad in steel instead of iron. I was too busy trying to survive to properly face off with him. As much as I regret that, I'd come to face far stronger than Dellar.
>>586355094Everyone say thank you to Sawyer
>>586351750Why? Are you feeling called out? Can't man up and be honest about it?
I don’t want this general saved. I want it to die. And through death - rebirth into something better.
That was the first time I met Gaelius. To meet a lord and tell him with a straight face you killed one of his kind and there is nothing he can do about it because of the laws they set... It was an experience I'll tell you that. He should've realized what kind of man I was then. Darista had to have told him what I did to the Boatmen in Teron. Everyone probably thought we were an unstoppable match. A man with a powerful mind and a man with a powerful blade. No one knew I was both.
I could've killed Hamza, and I wanted to, but I had no need nor want of service in the Imperial Guard. We'd meet each other again eventually. The Boatmen still had a score to settle with me. Fact I went to Gaelius probably kept their knives away from my back, at least for a time. That's when everything began to change

I wish I could say I stopped walking into obvious traps, but that would be a lie. I made some excellent reinforced leather jerkins and a sword made of steel from weapons I looted. Compared to my later work, they were pieces of shit, but they'd do.
