So after doing several deployments, I can say that this doesn't really do anything. I have found a green rarity ammo box field upgrade on an enemy like 3 times, out of many dozens of kills. Nothing blue rarity, and no additional crafting materials.I like that the power level between an upgraded character and a new character is not that wide, so there's not much advantage, but still...this is pretty lame lol.Meanwhile if you get lucky there's one that makes your UAV's bigger and last forever (until stolen) or another one that upgrades them to advanced UAV. Imagine being lucky enough to get that combo. There's also one that begins health regen whenever you kill anything even AI.The one that adds smelling salts to revives is pretty lame, but the one I got seems to be the worst of the bunch because as far as I can tell it does literally nothing. I'd take the smelling salts at this point lol.

Here's what I've been curious about: considering how half-finished BO6's campaign was, and how downright bad 7's was, just how BAD did 4's have to be to get them to cancel the whole thing mid-way into making it? Is this a bug? When you prestige a weapon, it says prestige and then the new level you're at with that weapon as you level it again and unlock things again. So several here are working normally.
