Overall, I'll say that p2 would have been fine enough as its own story, not exceptional but not terrible either. It has interesting ideas, like Senadina being a princess of a dying world who led her people on an exodus through space. But as a continuation of Honkai Impact 3rd, it's not Honkai Impact 3rd. It's not what I signed up for; that ended years ago, and I guess the reason I'm still around because there's a slim hope that I can see my favourite p1 characters in the spotlight again. Then again, if I had to sum up my feelings about the story now, it's that I'm looking at the timeline as a whole and can't help but feel that everything after p1 is ultimately a self-contained side quest. P1.5 was, p2 was, and APHO will probably be as well. There's not much of an overarching plot anymore, not with most things solved already, and no matter what, there's HSR looming in the future. I do not want HI3 to become a rehash of HSR, but it's either that or continue to have side quests in the solar system. Either way, anyone who left after p1 ended, whether they liked the ending or not, isn't missing out on anything they really need to see.
