The issue with Amy's only character trait being "Loves Sonic" is that if they want her to be relevant to a greater extent then they kind of have to tone that facet down. Sonic will never fully reciprocate because that'd lead to ramifications to the general status quo. The fortune teller stuff was brought back from CD because if they wanted Amy to be playable in a more active role (as in Adventure most of her stages were stealth based) especially in Frontiers she needed a secondary combat option outside of her hammer. In regards to Boom Amy, that show is a comedy so making jokes about her being a creepy stalker makes sense for that show but not for something trying to be more serious like Frontiers. I can weigh in on this a bit.This is specifically something being done by SoA because the people in charge both don't want romance in the Sonic series, and want to market Amy as more than a love interest character.I can't say for sure WHOSE decision it is, but it's not specifically the lore team members themselves pushing it, it's the people in charge of the brand as a whole. Whatever the individual team members think on the subject, any thoughts they have are being vetoed by SoA.I think the line was specifically removed in Japan due to a hell of a lot of hubbub over the English translation and they were trying to avoid further controversy. Ironically this has totally backfired in the opposite direction. SEGA Japan and SEGA of America have very different visions for the characters, I should add, SoA wants more stock characters who don't change, but the lore team wants more character development and there's a LOT of back and forth on it. SoA also wants to market Amy as a tough cool independent character to market to little girls and having her crush on a guy is considered outdated and potentially sexist by whoever's in charge of these decisions.If you guys want your voices heard, I'd politely write to SEGA Japan using the contact form and talk about how you don't like changes from the American side of things making its way over to the Japanese narrative, and bring up specific issues you dislike like Amy's crush on Sonic.
