Vulcans are not fucking smart. There is inherent logic to "instinct" even if one is not able to articulate it when acting upon it. Instinct is something so basic and necessary to survival it's literally genetically encoded. It's based off of adaptation to an environment as a mechanism to ensure basic survival pass down through evolution. And Vulcans can't see the LOGIC in heeding it? RETARDS.
>>223931234Some people's instinct is to dodge left into an oncoming car
>>223931086its crazy how well you can see his pecker in this movie
>>223931259Logic is fucking worthless because it can be used to justify literally anything.
>>223931234It's a fair point, but Vulcans are interplanetary now. The environment they inhabit is ever changing. Also it's well established in their lore that their instincts were over violent and nearly killed themselves with advancements in technology.

>>223931347is-ought problem
>>223931901One of the good parts of Enterprise is how they portrayed the Vulcans as the autists they are, and how other races fucking hate them.
>>223931347>you can't have morality without godSure you can. Base it in utilitarianism.

>>223931965That was the worst part of Enterprise, turning the Vulcans into retards who had only stumbled into the logic thing in the recent past, instead of being like a 10,000 year old culture of logic and reason and our goodly benefactors.

Star Trek: The Search for New Material
Tonight's episode is The Immunity Syndrome, and I'm sitting here wishing I had an immunity to ant spray and greasy food. Took me 8 hours to deal with this latest surge of infestation, because they started hiding from me inside the cupboards beneath my stove. They've started a historical record to tell the younger generations where to go, I need to genocide these freaks before they develop warp capability.I'm really so sick that I don't know if I'll be able to finish this one. Hope to see you in an hour or so.Also some context for this screencap, it's a face Spock pulls after explaining he "never calculated the odds" of getting a Royal Fizzbin. He's corpsing, five years early (boooo).

>>223935889Eliminating an indoor ant infestation requires locating their entry points, destroying the colony at the source with targeted baits, and sealing off access.1. Use Ant Baits: Place liquid or gel baits containing slow-acting poisons (like borax or fipronil) near trails. Worker ants carry the poison back to the queen and colony, eradicating the source rather than just surface ants.2. Wipe Out Scent Trails: Clean surfaces with a mixture of vinegar and water or soapy water to erase the chemical pheromones ants use to navigate.3. Seal Entry Points: Inspect windows, doors, and baseboards for cracks, then seal them using silicone caulk to block future access.4. Eliminate Attractants: Store all food in airtight containers, wipe up kitchen spills immediately, and keep pet food bowls clean to remove food sources.5. Apply Barrier Sprays: Spray residual insecticides (like diatomaceous earth or commercial perimeter sprays) along entry points and exterior foundations to deter new scouts.

A very tense episode, where the mystery element manages to stay fresh due to it being a source of frustration for Kirk. I might have liked a little bit more of that one scene we get when Spock is leaving the briefing room and he explains how the all Vulcan crew of the Intrepid felt "fascination" just prior to their deaths, due to his species almost lack of self-preservation as a result of an unequaled period of peace in the planet's history. We get sort of a similar thing in one of Kirk's speeches to the crew, the one right after Bones suggests survival, where Kirk reinforces the Enterprise's mission as a research vessel. But then again, having another episode where a certain value is elevated above (again) self-preservation would be our third "Obsession"-like episode in so many weeks/days. We do at least get shades of this with Bones making all his requests to study the thing trying to kill them, you've got to wonder if this is one of the more prominent examples of the trope before it really became a trope.Speaking of, George Lucas really can't help himself with how much he steals from Star Trek. I know there was another example prior to this, but Spock sensing a disturbance in the Vulcan psychosphere (or whatever) is really blatant.Even as sick as I was in the first half of this episode, it was nothing compared to how tired I became as the midnight hour came upon me. I was so drowsy just sitting there watching it that I had to keep pausing it to avoid falling asleep, which did something to heighten the tension of waiting, but unfortunately killed the tension from the intended pacing. I'm seriously going to start watching these earlier in the day.>>223936237I do all that, it's step 4 that's the main stumbling block, since I share my living space with several careless individuals. Step 3 is also an issue because there's so many viable entry points that it's hard to track down which one they're actually coming from.

>>223945379what with all those little portraits of injuns above his window? was it a series of trading cards or something?
the "twist" in this episode was so embarrassingly obvious...
I really am bothered by how Kes left the show. It really did seem like she ascended into a new and unknown higher realm of existence and no one really gave a fuck.
>>223951969It was a really hasty exit necessitated by the fact Jennifer Lien was on meth and crack and disrupting production
>>223951969Don't worry, they come back to that (:By the way how did you feel about Tasha Yar?
>>223952204She was legit schizo too.
>>223952204>>223952809It was really sweet how they made up an entire fake cover story about how Garrett Wong was going to be fired but was saved by a People magazine poll etc in order to hide the fact that Jennifer Lien was getting fired for her personal issues. They kept up that charade for decades.
>>223952896Kinda yeah. Helped her save face till she flipped out at her neighbor 20 years later.Hope she's doing okay. Would've been cool if she kept doing voice work anyway, she's got a good voice.
>>223952809>>223952896>>223952957Apparently, she married some weird rich Korean producer who just enabled her addiction and the guy treated her like a pet, just wanted an actress trophy, and often he wasn't even in the country. Very bizarre. I guess she just went on constant binders using the guy's money. She lives relatively close to me, maybe 60 miles o so
>>223952264I hope they do come back to it. Something really incredible and unprecedented was happening with Kes and they just don't give it a second thought after they figure out they can't control it. I know they were in a bad spot at the time but still
>>223951969she ascended alright
>there are 2 guys discussing how to deal with ant infestations itti’ve literally been dealing with ants invading my apt for the last 2 weeks. is this some global ant uprising.
>>223953018They're out of season this year for me. Too cold for most of them. Had some issues with the tiny black sugar ants earlier this year but they usually find their way inside once or twice a year
>>223952982Any more deets on her husband? I always wondered who that guy was since apparently he was a director but never really did anything.
>>223953175I think he was more of a producer than a director, some guy who sold DVDs or something, maybe involved in Korean localization?
>>223953191Weird.
He's nullified, Jim.

I = II = VI > IV > III > V
V > VI > IV >>> VII > VIII
>>223954136>flakersThat's what I'm calling them from now on
I > II = VI > IV > V > III
>>223955373II,III, and IV are effectively one continuous movie, which isnt accounted whenever they get ranked.
>somehow Voyager found another sentient hologram and he's an incel incredible
Can we all agree that either III or V is the worst TOS movie? II is probably the best, but some people prefer I or VI. IV is dead center in quality.
>>223955689how about you go secrete some more you meatbag fucking shit
I = II > VI > IV > III > V
>>223955997Actually, revisingI = II > VI = IV > III > V
>>223955772They all have their pluses and minuses. A lot of peoples opinion is colored by whether they like style of movie, action, adventure, comedy etc and how Star Trek incorporates those elements. As a whole, I dont care for IIII all that much, but the stealing Enterprise sequence is one of the best sequences across all the movies.

>>223954136Bajor was promised them 3000 years ago
>>223951019>>223951035The timetable for my prior plans moved up unexpectedly, so this is the first time since starting this that I had to pause an episode partway and pick it up after. I enjoyed the ambiguous message they had for the Vietnam War, especially how they essentially namedropped it with the "20th Century Brush Wars of the Asian Continent". Balance of Power sounds awful similar to Mutually Assured Destruction, or at least the precursor to it.Krell offered the villagers the ability to cut corners with diplomacy via violence, and once they got a taste they were hooked - just as hooked as Tyree was when Nona used that aphrodisiac on him. She makes him feel the madness of passion, and her demise makes him feel the unbridled rage that can turn justice into revenge. The ending of the episode leaving it unclear if Kirk has had a sudden change of heart at hearing Scotty's confusion or if it's something he's just going to have to explain once they've beamed up really places the idea to the audience of what the best thing to do is, whether Kirk should allow his first alien friend to perish or to let him sully his hands. Memory-Alpha says they do just fly off in the synopsis, but the page for the planet (the unnamed Neural) says they did furnish the war, so it clearly worked as intended. The random appearances of the Mugato, to just show up and get instantly dealt with after it's done something to push the plot forward, are hilarious. What an absurd monster design, why would a 7 foot tall ape with spiny plates and a rhino's horn on his head need a venomous (not poisonous) bite? Incredible.continued
>>223956981The subplot with Spock getting shot in the back and just concentrating himself back to health, then needing a serious bitchslapping to wake up after, was similarly hilarious. I bet once Bones found out he missed that he was even more pissed off to get stuck on the away mission. M'Benga was also a cool character, you can tell that Vulcan internship rubbed off on him from this exchange:>Nurse Chapel: Do whatever he says?>M'Benga: Well yes. Well, that's clear enough, isn't it?Like I keep saying, the scenes we get with the side-characters where they can speak a little more freely are some of the best on the show. It's a shame he only shows up for one other episode and then never again in any Star Trek media.Nona was the sexiest woman they had on the show since Andrea the Android ("WLGAMO"). I love the furred vestkini & the lowrise jeans, but I wish she had real hair styled the same way as the wig they put on her. Maybe ease up on the spray-tan too. The relationship between her and Tyree was also very well done, how she earnestly believes she has him under her spell when he just really loves her, even as twisted as she is. I figure even if he knew she was trying to switch sides by giving Appella the phaser she stole from Kirk, it wouldn't change his desire to avenge her aside from adding some more inner turmoil. That scene where he's about to shoot Kirk for being seduced by her and then throws the flintlock down in disgust at himself for even considering it was my favorite one.

Offical film ranking:1. Wrath of Kahn2. Search for Spock 3. The Motion Picture 4. The Undiscovered Country5. The Voyage Home6. Generations7. Nemesis8. First Contact9. Insurrection10. The Final FrontierThe JJ Arbams crap dont count
>>223958423>7. NemesisGuess you havent seen it
>>223946444
>>223958454I haveLike every TNG film its a dumb action flick but still some what better than the massively overrated First Contact
>>223958454Where would you rank it?
https://youtu.be/99YTAiM67ng?is=3JmZ9zv5CG8tCxc8
>>223958620I'm not one for ranks really, each movie has its positives and negatives. Though, I would put Nemesis near the very bottom. It was a sad attempt at one more cash grab and felt like it.
>>223958733Like every other TNG film thenThey are better dumb action flicks than the JJ crap though cause they at least have charactersWhile Final Frontier is objectively worse than the tng films my personal favorite ranking would have it above any of the TNG films cause of the friendship stuff with Kirk, Spock and Bones, I guess its cause I grew up with the TOS films and never saw any TNG film or show until I was an adult The JJ films gave me a bigger apreciation for the TNG films though
>>223958454*glimpsed it
it was a nullification hazard
Is it important to watch TOS in production order instead of broadcast order? I have the blu-rays. It's just that it would be annoying to have to switch out the discs so often if I wanted to watch in production order.
>>223960047Production order makes the most sense to me because otherwise you get shit like the second pilot "Where No Man Has Gone Before" being the third episode aired. Other than that, it doesn't really matter and has no impact on the narrative, as there was none.Funny thing is TOS on VHS and the original DVDs followed production order, and the original syndication as well IIRC, which is how most Trekkies would've seen it - it wasn't until the 2004 DVD sets when suddenly it was presented in airdate order, and the Blu-rays followed suit.
>>223960354One thing about broadcast order is Where No Man Has Gone Before comes right after Charlie X, and those episodes are kind of similar storywise.
>>223952896No shit lol
>>223945379holy shit, it looks almost identical to the desk and insane stuff that my college gf's dad had in his study.
i'm at the point in Voyager where it feels like every other scene is Tom B'Elanna and Harry having feeling or being horny for someone or another and this is such a boring fucking waste of time, neither Harry or Tom is attractive and I don't fucking like them
>>223960425WNMHGB was always meant to be seen first, but NBC wanted The Man Trap with its alien monster to be the first one to air.It should be Where No Man Has Gone Before, followed by The Corbomite Maneuver, followed by Mudd's Women, and then the rest it doesn't matter, but those three episodes have production quirks that set them apart from the rest of the season, such as the different crew and uniforms in WNMHGB, the introduction of what would become the standard in Corbomite, Uhura's yellow uniform, etc
Does Enterprise ever explain who the Shadow Guy that commands the Suliban was? He just dropped off the face of the universe along with the Suliban and Temporal Cold War. I’m glad they’re seemingly all gone (Silik showing up to die lol) but still curious.
>>223946902wow anon this is fantastic, thanks for introducing me to it
>>223960497Nah, that plot line gets dropped like a brick once Storm Front is done. In interviews various producers have said he was either going to be a Romulan instigating the Romulan-Federation war or Archer himself trying to unfuck the timeline somehow, but none of it ever made it to screen.
