I post-ironically enjoy the space hippies episode. S3 could be so dry and dull a lot of the time but that ep is so shamelessly silly and fun.
I have a feeling like not many people cared about Walters passing. Sure, there were all the typical articles and what not. But feels like nobody really talked about it.
>>223962329>>223962754
>>223962757Nobody cares about the actors who aren't Shatner, Nimoy or Kelly. Most casuals probably couldn't name any of the supporting actors.
Gritting my teeth and trying to get through season 4 of ENT so I never have to watch it again.
>>223962902Poor you
>>223962779Casuals don't even know DeForest Kelly. They know "He's Dead Jim™" and "I'm a Doctor, Not a [insert profession here]™", but they don't know Bones.
>>223962957The show just seems like it’s out of gas.
>>223962994Maybe it's not out of gas, but you're just full of it.
>>223962032still would. Meth is a sex drugThat might be true, but that look is the look of antipsychotics, not meth. ( meth has more of a hunted animal kind of look ) >>still would. Well just so you. You be there in the saddle saying " Yeah Take it bitch !!" and she'll look at you and say " Huh??" Because she is not noticing you fucking her, she doesn't even feel your dick ( flappy vagina or not ) might as well bang a bag of potatoes . It would feel about the same .

>>223963742S4 turns into an anthology series almost, it's a weird shifting of the gears. But all in all, it's got the Mirror episode 2 parter at least which is pure kino.the finale on the other hand is a straight toxic cancerous abomination for many different reasons
So the Orion are like a softer, less edgy Dark Eldar.
>>223963914no idea what this means
>>223964013The Dark Eldar are a race from Warhammer 40,000 whose entire society is based on piracy, slave-raiding and just being huge pieces of shit like the Orion.
>>223964055Not really the same, no. The Dark Eldar are WAY, WAY more evil than the Orion. The Orion are just a culture that is ruled by a powerful criminal syndicate but they are a far cry from Dark Eldar or Dark Elves from Warhammer.
>>223963742s4 has the best episode of Enterprise, bar none.
>>223963742s4 is the best season but its all 2-3 parters so you get few stories.>>223963806>finaleepilogue

Seven has only been here for 4 episodes and she's basically holding the show together. I feel like fast forwarding through any scene with Tom B'Elanna or Harry

>>223965448We are
>>223966870it is vitally important to watch the harry kim portions of the show. he's like a jester but with a dash of suffering. his humiliation and completely deserved punishment are a core running theme of the show.
>>223967002I would never actually skip. I love being hater so I need to watch these scenes for hate fuel. One thing I have come to love though is how Janeway will decide to blow up the ship and everyone on it if aliens start fucking with them. >>223967758>When he is introduced, Neelix is dating a 2-year old. Proportionately, Kes has lived about a fifth of her life but is not yet sexually mature.>Neelix has a criminal background; the Neelix we first meet is a far cry from the glad-handing please-all we see on board Voyager. Later episodes reveal his past dealings with Wixiban included selling/smuggling drugs, but could have involved much darker dealings.>Neelix survived traumatic childhood events involving children, i.e. the death of his sister and family.>Neelix takes any opportunity to be alone with children.>Neelix often spends time alone with Naomi Wildman in the holodeck, where he can alter the environment which allows him to manipulate his victims into a vulnerable state. (My friend died in a fire! Hold me Neelix!)>Neelix is particularly interested in the Borg children, often spending time alone with them.>Neelix ingratiates himself to his hosts at every opportunity, trying to make himself invaluable to the crew so that his nefarious activities fly under the radar, or can be swept under the rug should there ever arise any suspicions. Real world pedophiles take similar actions to try to shield themselves from accusations, i.e. Jerry Sandusky's "Second Mile" charity.>Neelix does not enter a relationship with an adult nor seek one with the sole exception of Talli, who is killed shortly after they meet. (Additionally, pedophile-Neelix may have overstated their relationship to deflect unwanted attention into his actual preferences).>Neelix's choice to leave Voyager seems inexplicable, until you understand Dexa's situation: she is widowed, isolated, living in fear of raids - and trying her best to raise her Talaxian son by herself. Pedophile-Neelix, knowing Voyager was not far from the Alpha quadrant and months of scrutiny about the events of the last seven years, sees a perfect storm - not just to avoid his past, but to secure his future.

Tonight's episode is Return to Tomorrow, another one I'm entirely unfamiliar with. See you in an hour or so.
>>223970551Man, I thought that gif looked fine on my PC, but now I see how choppy it is around that box thing over the bed (the vitals monitor spout?). Ezgif's compression software sucks the big one since they got rid of the option to reduce the dimensions, leaving me only with dithering or dropping frames (I never drop frames). I'll make a better version of this after I finish tonight's episode.

Why we are better than the other guy bidding for the same license above and beyond airing " Only You Can Stop Forest Fires" commercials for free. So yeah Ham handed executives forced and it WAS supposed to sound like those corny school films .. Because it was aimed at the FCC committee of old people and the same executives can say "See see just like those school films !!" Memorizing the Pledge of allegiance is important kids !!

So, did Terry Matalas just rip off Captain Shaw from this guy?
>>223967411This might be the worst episode of TOS but not because of the hamfisted politics. It's just excruciatingly boring and dour and absolutely nothing happens until the very end. The only saving grace is Morgan Woodward got to play another manic schizo.

>>223970551I've never heard the "Risk is our Business" speech before today, that was superb. It was at that same level of pure optimistic idealism as the ending to Corbomite Maneuver. It means that the episode does peak a bit early, but the way they explore Henoch & Thalassa still makes for some high-tier writing and performances.I was worried that Thalassa would have a secret affair with Enoch, but they instead have her reach the edge of her races god-complex fury and she pulls herself back from the edge. The whole time up until then I thought "They're writing a woman from a hyper-advanced society, the best of their minds, as someone still obsessed with lower drives." but that she caught herself without Sargon's pure benevolence to bolster her proved that she wasn't just brought along out of some hidden selfish desire. The ending resolving itself via telepathic bluffing is pretty clever, even if the scene where Bones gets locked out is a touch frustrating in its confusion rather than thrilling. The explanation after is fairly convoluted, but it all makes enough sense to forgive it. And it makes sense that in a case of "mind over matter" a being of pure intellectual energy would be extremely susceptible. It's a shame Sargon & his bride decide to surrender themselves to oblivion together. Half a million years spent isolated from the physical world, and because Henoch spent all that time plotting the final move in their race's ultimate war it makes Sargon doubt himself and how well he could teach humanity if he made such a grievous oversight trusting Henoch. And maybe Thalassa's arguments about the android body being unable to truly interact, becoming merely a mobile vessel, also rang true with him on some level. I mean if it were me, I'd hedge my bets on the idea that future innovations borne from mankind's differing perspectives could replicate sensation to an accurate enough degree. That "Risk is our Business" speech makes this ending all the more bittersweet.
>>223972324yeah, i was acquaintances with some klingon larpers but i always ended up in the anime/movie rooms for days on end.

>>223973310The Maquis captain and first officer should have been Thomas Riker.
>>223973310Chakotay’s problem is that Janeway is inconsistently written, so he never developed a personality that could have contrasted, clashed with and complemented Janeway’s style of command.
>>223965448Me. I’m the taking command of this thread. And there’s gonna be some changes around here for you degenerate organics.
>>223977431You sound fucking retarded. The problem isn't Janeway, the problem is he isn't fit for command. He does not act based on any kind of values or principles, the only thing Chakotay cares about is doing anything to save his ass in the moment. That IS in contrast to Janeway who always considers the actual consequences and totality of circumstances when making a decision. Chakotay is just a big pussy who just wants to escape the reality they're in and not have to deal with it anymore rather than solve problems.

Transphobic torpedoes, full spread.
Captain Janeway drove her diesel shuttlecraft down to the Ocampa homeworld. "Damn I love being right" she said, punching a Kazon child as she climbed out. "I think we should return this planet to the Natives" said Tuvok; "Shut up libtard" came the reply from behind a veil of sip of coffee. "Please sir" said the nebbish Vulcan, "This planet is the ancestral land of the Kazon Obla, where they have lived in an entirely peaceful utopia for thousands of years. They don't even know what war is.""Sounds like WOKE NONSENSE to me" guffawed Janeway, her very presence introducing phage into the ecosystem as she cracked a Miller High Life. "This is Federation country now, boy" she proclaimed before blowing up Ocampan mole people with an unregistered tricobalt device. The other Ocampa scattered in terror, sheltering their underage daughters from the bullets and Neelix that now ripped through the rock. "Kek" said Janeway, stuffing Tuvok's creation into the Voyager torpedo bay. "This is based. Wait until Starfleet hears about this"

>>223982536he also plays guitar, paraglides, and does astronomy. dude is multifaceted. and he makes my old game ports run better apparently.
Crossover between Star Trek and Solaris. A franchise all about communication and understanding with extraterrestrial life runs straight into the brick wall of what’s in some ways the anti-Star Trek.

>>223986801THIS IS THE POWER OF MATH, PEOPLE!
I'm a big DS9 fan but I always found the politics of the Dominion pretty unrealistic and lazy writing.>big empire is run by "shapeshifters" who think they are naturally superior to other races>they brutally and endlessly instill their sense of superiority among the many races in their polity though generations of ingrained propaganda>the other races almost never question the supposed superiority of the shapeshifters>the shapeshifters also try to subvert other polities by pretending to be other races>in day-to-day affairs, the polity is run by an endless supply of essentially replaceable politicians slavishly servile to the shapeshifters>the enforcers/proles of the polity are kept docile and controlled through drugsThe writing in DS9 is generally solid, but all of this is just too unbelievable.

What IS the power of math? it's clearly a factor in human progress, but can its impact be bounded and defined?
>>223988050It's logic applied to quantify reality, its power is understanding processes and predicting outcomes.
Like with the power of love, we know (thanks to Huey Lewis [PBUH])- It is a curious thing. (1:1-2)- makes one man weep and another man sing (1:3-4)- Tougher than diamonds, rich like cream (1:10-11)and so forth. No such effort was done with math. Moreover with the cost of higher education, you need money, fame, and a credit card to ride the math train.

The reason I was busy today was because I spent the day with my mother, since it's her birthday! She has all these apps downloaded to her phone to get free stuff, so we drove around town doing that and then had dinner at Chili's with my siblings. >>223989432Thanks! I'll pass the word along.>>223989270Decent, but spread a bit thin. It's by the same guy who wrote "The Changeling" which was really incredible, but had a lot less moving parts so he could focus everything on NOMAD. But this time had Isak, Daras, Egen, Melakon, Gill - all fairly fleshed out characters, but also moving along at a fairly quick pace such that there's no time to dwell on things like Daras' dramatic backstory with her father or Isak's fiance bleeding out in the street. It's a microcosm of occurrences within Nazi Germany in the time leading up to the invasion of Poland and the establishment of the camps (or whatever the timeline is, I don't pay that much attention to the stuff since I'm not a wehraboo), and it's all in service to the reveal of Gill's intent to use the efficiency of the system to unite the people, which I don't really understand. The coda has Kirk & Bones explain to Spock that "absolute power corrupts absolutely" so even good people using that system of governance will encounter problems, but the literally institutional racism seems like the bigger issue here. How are the Zeons gonna let bygones be bygones with the Ekosians when they went right along with Melakon's scheme of puppeting Gill? Not like it was all Melakon's fault, because how could Gill unite the Ekosians without using the Zeons as scapegoats to unite AGAINST? Even if you take a more neutral stance and say that Germany came together as a result of every single world power punishing them for their actions in WW1, that's STILL an outside force that needs to Exist in order for the Ekosians to put aside their differences and come together. It's a minor quibble in the face of the episode's intended moral, whatever. That sequence with Spock kneeling on Kirk's back right after they both got whipped was hilarious. Also, isn't it an odd coincidence that Zeon are the Jews in this, but then the name got used again for the fascist government in Mobile Suit Gundam?
