Drizzt books had not shit the bed yet.Drizzt was a big deal in the 90's-00s. Also, real edgy goths. You don't remember real goths. If you did you wouldn't have asked about why the race for goths is not everywhere like goths used to be.Half my friends were goths. All of them played drow at one time or another.
I think they got popular for a while because of the Drizzt novels, but then it got kinda oversaturated and the community got sick of everyone basing their characters on him.
