This thread is for middle editions of warhammer 40k, specifically 5e and 6e, but anyones welcome as long as they embrace the crunchy and competitive aspects of warhammer. 30k fans are welcome to talk about HH as well, but you've got your own thread if you don't want to revisit the glory days of 40k.
>>98892033this threads an experiment, i won't be reposting it but if someone else does thats cool by me.
>>98892033BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GODSKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE
What do you use to build lists for 5th/6th edition?
>>98892140I dunno, isn't Battlescribe still around?Did it start at 7e? I don't remember the cutoff. Either way most of the units and stats are the same, and you can customize it for earlier editions if you want.
>>988920335th and 6th edition are fucking trash. 4th is the only decent one.
>>98892434you come all the way here just to say that?
>>98892434you know you have your own thread for that right?
Where does "middlehammer" start and end anyway?
did these editions have tzaangors
>>98892875eh, were still figuring that out.I'm guessing 5 to 7, though there were a lot of things about 7 that i don't like. Basically before 8th edition kicked all the mogs to the curb, and after 4th, since they have their own thread, though really anybodies welcome as long as they aren't a pest.
>>98892885i dunno, i was never that much of a fanboy that I followed white dwarf and all the misc content.
oh. well, cool then, i guess. You know what I always wanted to do that was slightly illegal?>Combine the SM and CSM into one codex>An entire core book for Death Watch, Sisters of Battle, Grey Knights and the Imperial Guard>Put Eldar, Dark Eldar, and Necrons into an "Elder Races" Codex>Put Orks, Tau, and Tyranids in a "Xeno Races" CodexYou could put in some killer art and lore and start charging 100+ dollars a codex, instead of nickel and diming people for a fucking 'data slate' or whatever the fuck.Maybe include a reskinned copyrighted version of Battlescribe on a QR code or something similar, tidy it up a bit and give it a fancy new GUI, add in HH stats for good measure, give people their moneys worth.
>>98892935I mean, you could charge if it were official, and you could pay the BS guys for their program, but if not just bundling them together would save so much damn time flipping through 20 different books. All the snowflake SM chapters would be in the marine books, and Daemons and Cultists would be there too.
>>98892033Nobody huh?
>>98892918We're not figuring anything out, OP is just retarded. The definitions are clear and longstanding.RT/1st-3rd WHFB is Oldhammer.2nd-4th(some argue 5th too, but they're dumb) 40K/4th-6th WHFB is Middlehammer5th-7th 40K/7th-8th WHFB is Newhammer.8th+ 40K/ET & TOW/AoS are Nuhammer. The distinction is in who was creating the material and what corporate environment they were operating in at the time. Oldhammer is the first blush of the IP, almost full creative freedom, a small team of dudes just raiding all the existing history, sci-fi, fantasy, RPG, and pulp fiction material they liked for ideas. Middlehammer is that IP's maturation into something that stands on its own, still with most of the original creatives around and directing the work of an expanded team, more a more "professional" work environment but still fundamentally Dudes Who Get To Make Fun Stuff working together to do exactly that, the work from the first phase rationalised and organised, firmed up and expanded. Newhammer is the corporate-ification of the IP and the workplace, most of the original creatives have left the company as have even most of their proteges and the few that are left are those less talented or have been promoted into positions of managerial obscurity, those working on the IP are largely 3rd and 4th generation, people who's primary experience is not of the things that inspired Warhammer but of Warhammer itself, working under a much tighter leash and much more stringent imperatives established by the business side of the business especially CEO and noted disliker of market research Kirby, the settings stagnate due to endless focus on only things that sell the most, the cost cutting and penny pinching and lack of talent cause issues from overpriced boxes to overlarge armies to disastrous balance fuckups like 7th WHFB's army books, a period of decline. 1/2
>>988941322/2Nuhammer is a resurgence of the *company* at the expensive of the IP, sacred cows are slaughtered and traditions discarded along with any of what remains of the original fanbase who aren't the most uncritical Consoomers, they choose to address the complaints of stagnancy not by returning to the IP's roots and continuing to expand the window into their worlds but instead by "advancing the timeline" and exchanging settings for saturday morning cartoon metaplots, there's an explicit effort to "computerify" the game systems to better appeal to younger generations raised on MOBAs and mobile games, and the company becomes a creative Ouroboros consuming and regurgitating inferior versions of its own past material for an audience that never experienced the originals to compare against. Some people take a purely aesthetic approach to determining "eras" of Warhammer but that both superficial in that it relies almost entirely on GW's own promotional material and ignores what people were actually doing in the wild, and dumb because the aesthetic shifts that did happen over the years all flow downstream from the overall state of the company and the creatives working there. Thanks for reading my Ted Talk.
>>98892875Welcome to GROG 2.0 now you will argue for multiple posts about that lmao. The clearest way to differenciate is in my opinion:RT+/2nd- Oldhammer (I would not personally count RT at all since it is very different from what follows in both style and rules hence 2nd is much better starting point for 40k)3rd-7th- Middlehammer (it is a clear evolution of the game despite huge paradigm shift happening in style mid 3rd and in rules mid 4th)8th onwards- Newhammer>>98894132I Personally dont like the distinction between newhammer and nuhammer, i find it pointless. 6th and 7th edition are clear evolution on the sins of 5th so why split them?
>>98892033Old Hammer 40k 4th and earlier including RTMiddle Hammer 40k 5-7thNeo Hammer 40k 8+
>>98894325But you know what?it doesn't matter a whole lot. anyone can come here as long as they foster discussion about middle hammer. You can even drift off topic a bit, as long as its GW related.
>>98894132So its kind of like The Great Crusade, The Horus Heresy, and The Dark Ages
>>98894325Personally I always saw it like this:>Oldhammer - RT, 2nd, early 3rd>Middlehammer - 3.5, 4th, 5th>The Wilderness Years - 6th, 7th>Nuhammer - 8th onwards
>>98894317>6th and 7th edition are clear evolution on the sins of 5th so why split them?NTA but I think it's because overall 5th was generally well-liked, the bullshit was starting to creep in over the course of the edition but not enough to completely taint people's positive memories of it. 6th and 7th on the other hand went full steam ahead on the bullshit right from the word go and are remembered much more negatively for it.
>>98894386I fucking hated overwatch when it came out.I hated flyers too, being able to bring air support when you didn't have any and making ground units unable to shoot it down, blech

>>98894371i don't think RT is going to have enough old men left to play it. if you think of it by the age of the player base maybe this grouping also makes more sense.V>>98894325

>>98894425oh, and HH is also middle hammer
>>988944223rd/4th/5th are essentially the same ruleset with tweaks made to it over time, 2nd is a much smaller scale game but much more complicated, and RT has so much in common with mass battle systems for RPGs that it often requires an actual GM to play it properly.
>>98894457all the same, aren't a lot of us left.
>>98892434Yes, 4th and 3rd.

>>98894427no HH is it's own beast now
>>98894512What i mean is they can come here, but we don't go there.
>>98894529its basically the same ruleset as 6th and 7th, with minor tweaks
>>988945105th was the edition were GW went full corpo and started squishing in every way possible and that affected the rules too. Notice how 5th edition pictures feature a crazy ammount of models per picture, white dwarf magazines also started loosing the how to make terrain and the custom rules they had during 3rd and 4th.Finecast happened during 5th.Notice how imperial guard got squads of tanks just in time to buy those 10 leman rus boxes. Running doesn't work on 120×180cm tables, and makes transports irrellevant while reducing the value of the special troops that could do so in 3rd and 4th.Going to ground didn't work well as a game mechanic, since certain lists could exploit it.Scattering all templates instead of just artillery made a lot of guns unusable. It slowed the pace of the game and increased the ammount of template arguments, a couple of scatter shots per turn is reasonable and fun, once you go to 10 or 15 it becomes very negative for the game. Wound allocation doesn't work. It's a broken system that allows you to skip or ignore wounds with save roll exploits and also make multy wound squads super resilient if each model has a different loadout. True LOS is just not viable unles you play only with modern tables with only L shaped ruins. The abstract LOS system of 4th makes any type of table scenary compatible with the game. Vehicle changes made them too reliable. Codex books are very unbalanced, some had severe model creep like tyranids, most of them removed unit customization, some are broken to the point to be unplayable like grey knights.
>>98894529Fair fair, HH 1st ed would be midhammer not the rest tho.
>>98894510Matt Ward.
>>98894552>some are broken to the point to be unplayable like grey knightsI vaguely remember something about Grey Knight dreadnoughts running double TL autocannons with blessed/psi(?) ammunition being disgustingly overpowered, am I getting 6th mixed up with 5th or something?
>>98894571was it the chaos marines codex?
>>98894317Erm, it doesn't split them? Newhammer is 5th to 7th in what I posted.
>>98894552well then if /grog/ isn't going to take 5th then let us have it.
>>98894605we don't need 4 different categories just cause you fucks don't think your old.you OLD dude, get over it. there is no fucking way that your going to split /grog/ into two groups or that there is any debate that you are all old, therefore you are oldhammer.
>>98894605>>98894614which is to say, 5-7 is middle hammer. grog won't take it and were too different from either grog or nuhammer to be anything but middle hammer, and there is no way I'm calling some 3rd or 4th edition turbo autist's game middle hammer.
>>98894577>Grey Knightgrey knights were busted in general
>>98894371Yeah, 3-5 is true 40k for me.Complaining about shitmaris is very fair but 40k shit the bed way before. I didnt recognize the game anymore in 6th.
See this is the thing lads. I don't think we need a separate thread as /grog/ is Oldhammer and "Retro", and Middlehammer particularly has an incredibly nebulous definition. Though I do appreciate that /grog/ skews older and you won't really get any uptake on people asking about 6th edition 40k, for example. I mean for me personally basically mid-4th edition is the limit of my interest in 40k, the plastic Baneblade was the end.The tightest definition is 4th and 5th WHFB and 2nd ed 40k (which is funny because as this thread shows, a lot of you think 2nd edition is Oldhammer), and associated games like Necromunda 1995 and Man o' War but not, say, Mordheim. The loosest is basically "anything between after Bryan Ansell selling GW and before AoS and 8th edition 40k"And you can't really build a solid community off the back of that, like you can with "the Oldhammer movement"Not that 4chan is by any means the best place for these discussions, unfortunately the Facebook groups are the current "home" for online community.
>>98894634yeah, well, if you want to talk about those here go ahead, but i think officially middle hammer is 5-7, and I'm prolly the one whose going to remake the thread.
>>98894637>a lot of you think 2nd edition is Oldhammer2nd edition is 33 years old, anon.
>>98894652You are quite literally the only person I have ever seen refer to Middlehammer as 5th-7th.
>>98894672well i'm sorry, you don't get to refer to 40k 4e as fucking 'middlehammer'.
>>98894678you'd have to be 50+ to call 4th ed 'middlehammer'
>>98894652>i think officially middle hammer is 5-7????????
>>98894686well, seeing as how I'm OP and I made the damn thread>>98892033
>>98894637if you don't want a separate thread for 5-7, you don't have to stay here, you already have grog and the 40k general. if we want to call 5-7 middle hammer, you got no right to tell us not to.
>>98894706and nobody at 40kg gives a flying fuck about 5-7, and grog won't claim it, so by definition, we're middle hammer.
>>98894694But you didn't create "Middlehammer" lmao it's been a term for many years even if it's never quite found the community response that Oldhammer did. It's like when people try to argue to change the "official" definitions of such things here, as if we are the ones who could do so and not the FB groups these things generally coalesce around, especially with the decline of the blogsphere and forums.
>>98894706and frankly i don't know shit about warhammer fantasy, there are hardly enough people playing anything outside of Age of Sigmar that as long as its not AoS, its cool.sorry, i'm trying to be cool.
>>98894706xD. Anon sorry but this thread will die just as fourk did. There is not enough people intrested in it when Grog exists.>>98894683No not really, you just need to not have an inferiority complex about the name and keep the old convention. It was convention to call it middlehammer when the term was widely adapted hence no point in changing it. And before you start sperging im not even 30, i started 40k at the tail end of 7th
>>98894728To be fair fourk wasn't helped by being a project thread instead of just a place to discuss older editions, from what I remember it was 90% spergs arguing about what homebrew rules to add.
>>98894719You can call middle hammer whatever you want, but the next thread is going to be /mog/ 5e-7e 40k Grogs Welcome, Newfags ToleratedI'll take whatever warhammer fantasy that /grog/ doesn't specifically want, and isn't Age of Sigmar.
>>98894734Yeah, as the poster who named /grog/ and also made the OG thread before fourk saying "I think we should make a 4th ed Battle Bible" it was disappointing how it went
>>98894728>middlehammerlook, you can call it what you want, imma call 5-7 middle hammer. If you think you can get away with calling 4e middle hammer, good luck.
>>98892920In other words, you got into 40k after 8th and you're currently larping an interest in older editions.
>>98894752or fine, in the spirit of charity, lets call it something else, not middle hammer, but not nu hammer or new hammer or whatever the fuck.this thread is 5e to 7e, you can call that lineup whatever you want. /grog/ doesn't want us, /40kg/ doesn't want us, we have to go someplace, that place is here.
>>98894757no, i just didn't grow up being able to afford a house payment worth of minis.you're being rude.
>>98894763stop trying to pretend like we don't exist.were not /hhg/were not /grog/were not /40kg/what are we?
>>98894763In the spirit of charity xD. You come in and say that dog means cat, throw a fit. >INCLUDE 4TH EDITION IN THE DEFINITION OF MIDDLEHAMMER AND THERE WILL BE AN END TO THE HORROR
>>98894824so what, its 4 to 7th? even though 4th is claimed by /grog/ and will be a duplicate general? /grog/ has to give 4th the boot if you want me to call it middle hammer.
>>98892033alright, lets just call it 'fuckhammer' then.we will be FH40kg
>>98892033Such a great era for /tg/ and Warhammer. We didn't realize how good we had it.

>>98894614>>98894621I know your tiny little brain has been rotted away by talking toilets and tiktok, but in order to discuss something it has to be accurately described. Those terms were assigned years ago, probably before your dad dribbled you into your mum instead of into the fucking toilet where you belonged, and despite you chucking a fucking meltywelty over them the names aren't actually important you vapid buffoon, the periods they describe are. I know keeping four whole things in mind at once is a struggle for you when they aren't brainrot verticals, but maybe when you grow up you'll be able to manage it eh.
>>98894775Faggots.Dude come on you walked right in to that once step up your fucking game.
>>98894768I grew up playing paperhammer using poorly xeroxed copies of the few rulebooks we could borrow. I read whatever lore I could get from fanpages on the web and the rare white dwarf we got ahold of. By the time I actually got my first minis at the tail end of 6th, I'd already been playing for two entire editions, without actually having spent any substantial money. If you weren't a larper you'd actually know poorhammer was the default experience for a lot of us kids and teenagers, and it wasn't until recently that new players were expected to make a considerable investment before their first game.Larping is also why the people in this thread keep arguing over well established conventions such as Middlehammer. You haven't been part of the community and don't hold anything but a cursory interest in the earlier editions, so much so that this thread completely neglects fantasy in its entirety, despite it being a parallel part of the hobby for most of us.
>>98894876Call it faghammer, as it perfectly describes OP and his samefagged clones.
>>98894637>Middlehammer particularly has an incredibly nebulous definitionNo it hasn't, this anon is correct >>98894719All these terms were defined 15+ years ago in FB groups. The fact that so many anons have no idea about those is another proof of how little they know about 40k despite their pretensions of being grogs. >Oldhammer The RT era 1987-93 (and the WHFB equivalent)>2nd edition1993-97, A streamlined version of late RT rules with its own unique style and aesthetics. >Midhammer 40K1998-20173rd to 7th edition. This is not a debate even if you prefer the early 00s era to the early 2010s era. Even with the changes in 5th and 6th.All of it was an evolution of the same ruleset and aesthetics.>nuHammer/ newHammer / current 40k8th edition onwards, 2017 to today. Whatever you may want to call it.And that's it. Shut up and deal with it.
>>98894132>The definitions are clear and longstanding.>2nd-4th(some argue 5th too, but they're dumb) 40K/4th-6th WHFB is Middlehammer>5th-7th 40K/7th-8th WHFB is Newhammer.Wrong, see >>988965442nd has always been its own separate thing. The "Red Era" of the 90s. People who liked it didn't like the dumbing down of 3rd much, and created the Battle Bible even before the 2000s. 5th+ is only became "nuHammer" for online contrarian hipsters after 8th was released.
>>98896544>Peers of Warhammer Underworlds Shadespire (2017) are MiddlehammerThese are the rantings of a gibbering lunatic
>>988966242nd was always Middlehammer you fag. The Middlehammer era is what came after gw was sold and the old guard was replaced with new blood. Warhammer eras are primarily defined through Warhammer Fantasy and GW's leadership and scope, not just how far from the current edition we stand. It's funny how newfags and tourists take offense when they are made to understand that their jump from 11th to 7th is not a 'retvrn to old/Middlehammer, but rather a rollback from nu/corpohammer into plain ol' newhammer
>>98896759This is about 40k, not WHFB or AoD. Read the OP before posting>>98896850>2nd was always Middlehammer you fagWrong. That's 5th ed fake grog speak.>Warhammer eras are primarily defined through Warhammer Fantasy and GW's leadership and scopeWrong. Nobody gives a shit about that except you online fake grogs and your obssesin with social media, youtubers, and what others are saying. It's all about the minis, the aesthetics, the rulesets, and the vibes. The only things that matter. That's why 2nd has always stood apart, despite having some overlap with late RT.That's why all forums and FB groups focused in one or another era do not make your retarded and fake distinction.
>>98894824isn't 4th oldhammer
>>98897105>>98899055how are you this retardedHow on earth is stuff released for 40k around the time of Warhammer Underworlds Shadespire in any way old??????????
>>98899890Because he thinks that everything released before he discovered 40k (2018 or so) is old. Many such cases, I've even seen people claiming forgeworld is oldhammer just because it's now oop.
>>98899890>>98900026wtf are you talking about? Are you pretending to be retarded, you samefagging AoSfag? What part of "Midhammer 40k General" you don't understand? Nobody cares about your fantasy crap here. This thread is about 40k related games, and 8th wasn't released until the summer of 2017.So yeah, anything before that was still technically part of Middlehammer, like the fucking last Gathering Storm book.Because 40k eras aren't clear and cut, there were transition periods (like the 2nd ed. style minis being reased before 1993)
>>98892033Midhammer would be 3rd to 4th. Maybe 5th if you are being generous. 5th to 7th is Newarhammer or corpo warhammer if you will. When things where introduce to the game for sales reason.Like true line of sight in 5th, it only exist as a marketing thing, they even created the laser pointer as a marketing aid.
>>98900876>Gathering Storm>Middlehammer You might actually be retarded.
>middlehammer>oh cool>look inside>just 5th and 6thThis has to be a bait thread. Nice bait thought
>>98901378>>98901479>>98901642Shut the fuck up, fake grogs. 5th-7th is still Middlehammer, yes.At their time nobody saw those editions as anything else that iterations of the same game since 3rd.You're just a bunch of post 8th butthurt posers.
40k Midhammerfags may be the most pathetic lot of fanboys that this hobby has ever seen. While RT, 2nd ed. and post-8th edition nuHammer players and collectors each have their clearly defined spaces, events and social media, midhammerfags can't event agree on which editions they want to include, lolYou're daydreaming failures. This is thread is just another example. And the worst part is that you keep infesting /40kg/, /hhg/ and /grog/ with your whining and your bullshit, but you're unable to create or build anything.
>>98901682>5th literally had its rules made to for marketing>some how this is not new hammerAnon please. Even back then we knew it was a marketing gimmick. Fun one, but a gimmick non the less
>>98901729You're just parroting the latest out of context meme shit other anons post here. LOS and that laser pointer sucks, but that's not why LOS is still a thing almost 20 years later. You think 5th was the first 40k edition with rules "made to for marketing"? Lol. Pure hipster bs.As if shit like the RT transparent targeting grids, the 2nd custom dice and tons of cardboard, or the extreme dumbing down of the game in 3rd and increase in army sizes wasn't done for money. You don't know jack shit about the history of 40k
>>98901725I think it is a result of 5th to 7th being the editions that started the issues of 40k so no one really wants to touch them. The issue is that during those time some cools thing where made like Forge World books, which really feel like the old GW up till the end of 4th 40k.As result some try to lump the period of 3rd to 7th as its own thing when in practices and reality it is something along the lines of:>oldhammer: RT, 2nd>middlehammer: 3rd and 4th before the 5th edition codex styles are made>Public company hammer: 5th, 6th and 7th>Oh shit we are going under hammer: 8th and the early days of 9th>true nuhammer: 9th onwards4th and 5th is what usually causes the issue because during 4th most of the old guard left and the few that stay clearly needed the other guys to wrangle up their shit. So you still see things from older editions, but the guys that played during 2nd to 4th can see the corpo hands in 5th and reject a lot of aspects it has even though it had cool ideas.
>>98901782Then you have people like this anon that forget GW is a company at the end of the day and there is a clear difference between that and corpo meddling with the game for marketing reasons. Usually they can't understand the difference and will scream at anyone that point it out.
>>98901831>they can't understand the differenceThey're larpers, which means they never experienced actually playing those editions, the hobby culture around them and even what a GW store was like before they were renamed to Warhammer. The retard complains about others parroting memes whilst doing the exact same thing. At this point I doubt he even has any models bought before 8th edition.
>>98901800>>98901831>>98902062>more samefagging and shit that never happened by a lying fake grogFirst of all, GW became a "public company" in 1989-90 during RT. GW's internal changes have nothing to do with the designations used for each era of the game. The "muh corpo meddling" whining is stupid. All their products, even the most beloved, always have been designed to earn as much money as possible in mind.Talking about GW's "old guard" or "original creators" is retarded. GW has never worked like that. That's a teenage fanboy fantasy about how things work in the real world and real companies. When 5th ed. was released everybody switched to it. The idea that it was such a huge turn off is retarded revisionism. Same for 6-7th. Whatever the whining at the time about changes, there was nobody still playing 4th just like there's nobody playing 8th today. And 5th was huge. The era of the big FW campaigns like Vraks and Badab, lots of new kits, and more. And mixing RT with 2nd as "oldhammer" while calling others larpers that never played the game is hilarious. You're full of shit. 40k Middlehammer is 3-7th, and it always will be. You liking more 3-4th doesn't change it.
>>98903931Are you retarded, the best FW books are from 4th ed, this is specially true considering how the 5th and 6th edition ones (after vraks) even lost the custom scenarios in favor of brain dead generic ones without unit lists. The 5th ed backlash was real, I was there gandalf and I droped the game because of all the bulshit. All the bad reputation of GW started right there. 5th didn't bring any great models, just finecast trash vehicle spam and a powercreep so huge that you didn't even had to roll any dice to know the outcome of the game. 5th is one of the worst editions 40k has ever had and the clear downfall of anything 40k related.
>>98894132I question the value/relevance of including WFB in discussions regarding the categorization of various 40k editions. Put plainly, I don't think 40kfags know enough about WFB to have anything relevant to say. This thread, as stated in the OP, is explicitly about 40k. Let /wfg/ and /grog/ (though /grog/ is mostly a 40k thread anyway) dictate which editions of WFB are old, middle, new, or nuhammer.
I'm honestly surprised how there can be so strong and different takes on what makes midhammer. It's rather obvious and well-established for ages now.>40k - 3rd to 7th since 1st and 2nd are separate categories on their own>WFB - 5th to 8th, argument can be made on how to treat 3rd and 4th since they are so different from 1st and 2nd but they are definitely not midhammer>AoS - 1st is basically proto-nuhammer, 40k 8th (THE Nuhammer edition) borrowing from it only to playtest new ideas for AoS 2nd for it to playtest 40k 9th and so onPersonally, I like to think about AoS 1E as the final dying breath of midhammer, pushed in its form to the extreme. Basically, AoS 1E is like the last generation of cellphones we got before smartphones took over the market, completely crazy and otherworldly in their form and design. AoS2 refined and polished 1E rules on every level, finally bringing it to the new category of game design the nuhammer is.
Had a game of 5th last weekend. Didn’t follow the FOC at all, had too many elites. Used primaris instead of firstborn but it worked out.
>>98905064I don't know why I have to keep saying this recently, but bait has to be believable enough that it's at least *potentially* plausible a real person might have an opinion that retarded. The quality of shitposting around here has really declined.
>>98900026Wrong, faggot.
>>98905257Which part other than AoS being the final midhammer sounds like a bait to you? Do you want to argue that 40k midhammer doesn't end with 7th? Perhaps you believe WFB midhammer period doesn't start with 5th?
>>98904394People continue to drop when 6th show up and added the psychic phase. Oh the bitching was glorious Locally at least for some reason the game got a second wind in the last year of 7th, but it was mostly due to no one doing the Taudar or free shit. You already had a lot of models at 1850 points having even more models for free made it physically impossible to play to most people.
>>98904394>the best FW books are from 4th edVraks part 2 and 3, Badab, The Raid on Kastorel-Novem, Mymeara, and Orpheus were all released for 5-6th. You're a larper>The 5th ed backlash was realBullshit. Anybody can search posts in old 40k forums and see the opposite for themselves. There's arguments for and against 5th rules changes, but the game was super popular. So were the minis, faction refreshes and new ones. The complaints were nothing exceptional. You're a nobody and your schizo alternate history never happened. It doesn't matter if 5th to 7th was shit or not, they're still part of the same 40k era that began with 3rd: Middlehammer
>>989054006th and 7th was when the whining became more serious and legit at a time when GW got real competition from other games like X-Wing.They're still part of 40k middlehammer
>>98905280are you a fucking retard unable to understand that this thread is about 40k, or are you just a fucking retard making up shit that nobody has said to be mad about?
>>98905437>are you a fucking retard unable to understand that this thread is about 40kLet's ssee my post then>>40k - 3rd to 7th since 1st and 2nd are separate categories on their ownFor the other half of your reply>are you just a fucking retard making up shit that nobody has said to be mad about?Let's see a few examples>>98892918>I'm guessing 5 to 7>>98894132>2nd-4th(some argue 5th too, but they're dumb) 40K/4th-6th WHFB is Middlehammer>>98894325>Middle Hammer 40k 5-7th>>98894371>Middlehammer - 3.5, 4th, 5th... and I have only listed posts from the first 25% of this thread. Why are you so mad Anon?
>>98905423>Bullshit. Anybody can search posts in old 40k forums and see the opposite for themselves. And that is why Bols has a series of articles from 2010 explaining how fucking unplayable the edition is.
>>98905463Sorry, I replied to the wrong post, it was meant for >>98905257You bs about AoS being middlehammer is too much, though
>>98905494>One (1) bad rule abused by WAACfags invalidates all of 5th>>Somehow this means that 5th isn't part of the same era despite that rule being changed in 6th >As if other editions didn't had bad rules, exploits, and busted factionsYou're such a retarded sperg.
>>98905509>You bs about AoS being middlehammer is too much, thoughI know and I agree that it's an incorrect take all things consider BUT AoS1E feels so different to me when compared with AoS2E or 40k8E on so many levels that I can't help but treat it as a separate thing on its own.
>>98905494>Spanish text in the screenshot>Spain timezone timestampEres un puto gilipollas, macho. En tu pueblo con los pajilleros con los que juntabas para jugar no te enterabas de nada y vienes aquí a dar lecciones de historia. De vergüenza ajena.>>98905539Yes, AoS1E was unique, weird, and a failure "fixed" by the GHB, but it's still clearly not part of Middlehammer. Or the purpose of this thread.
>>98905526Who argues about eras? We just argue about 5th being fucking trash like 6 and 7th. Just slightly better than nuhammer I guess but trash is still trash.
>>98905567>Spaniard slangOpinion discarded
>>98905573>Who argues about eras?Everybody in this thread except you, retard5th wasn't perfect, but you're an hysterical hater. That edition saw a lot of great additions to 40k, even if it went overboard with some stuff (SW)The ruleset only became unplayable with 7th. ed formations, but the core rules were always serviceable.
>>98905526>One (1) bad rule
>>98907094>BolS meme Meanwhile in reality, when the 5th ed. Necrons codex was released it was overpowered and their players loved their lore refresh.Only stupid hipsters that do not play or collect Necrons disliked the changes.
