Thread question: What does elf architecture look like, in your opinion?

It depends in how you implement them.
For example, if they're an invading force they'll adapt the indigenous building techniques to their own, and if it's them whom have the old established realm it'll diverge into the context of their existence.
Like, the ones from Queen's Blade live in forest villages disguised within the trees to avoid another disastrous war with humans, but in Beleriand most elves lived in semi-isolated homesteads with ample land to each family making me think each building stood out on purpose more akin to the stark white stone used in Gondolin.

Never uses quarry stone, just salvages natural erosion products.
Never tears down old structures, always keeps and maintains them.
    >>
    >What does elf architecture look like, in your opinion?
There is no "elf architecture". There are various settings with different elves and different subraces or cultures of elves within these settings.
At least ask "in your setting", you faggot.

    >What does elf architecture look like, in your opinion?
I'm fond of the "stereotypical" curvy, rounded, and art nouveau-esque style often attributed to Elves. It's a bit stereotypical and makes drawing Elven buildings or recreating them in art programs or vidya a massive pain in the ass but it looks cool and has Elven "vibes" that I can't fully articulate.

I feel like >>98887463 captures it pretty well, it has be a good balance of pristine and natural. It can't be too sterile and perfect or else it feels more modern and sci-fi-ish but it also can't be too natural and chaotic or it feels more "mundane" like a human settlement.

Obviously this is mostly discussing the archetypical High Elf society, Dark Elves or Wood Elves have different design language in my mind. Obviously everything is very setting-dependent, and you should always try to make your settings' Elves society tailored to their environment, if your setting is some Dark Sun type shit and everything sucks it probably doesn't make sense for Elves to have such grand, pristine buildings.

That anon >>98888103 explained it in a way that I had no patience for at the moment. It's ultimately the dumb way how OP phrased that question. Something like "what are good examples of elven architecture, in your opinion?" or "how is elven architecture in your setting?" is more /tg/-appropriate.
The OP reminds me of the increasingly third-world way of talking about this fictional race in the context of traditional games, where anons shit out opinions from their phones while unable to grasp that different systems and settings have varying takes on elves. While simultaneously having common core characteristics.
That means that there are some common ideas of what constitutes good takes on elvish architecture, similarly to how elves usually are depicted as long-lived, magic, dexterous, slender and with pointy ears.

No, there is not one exact "elf body type", sometimes they can be tall, sometimes they are smaller than humans. Sometimes they look like aliens, sometimes they have a weird anatomy, sometimes it's more regular human-like. But they tend to be slender in some form, since that's a common core characteristic.
No, there is no universally agreed, all-applying "elf architecture", especially since there are usually different elf subraces and cultures. But their architecture is usually shown as elegant, decorative but not to the point of garishness. Building high structures, towers and arcs. The dark elf variant usually loves spikes (spikes = evil), but aside from that, it seems like they usually favor rounded, smooth surfaces and tall buildings, while also including elements of the natural world.
I'm personally in favor of Art Nouveau for high elves. What you usually want is to differentiate them from regular ass medieval human towns.

Yes, the "good takes". It would be a shame if someone thought of something not good that we don't like.
    >>
    >>98889825
Because that was a different anon.
    >It would be a shame if someone thought of something not good that we don't like
And we can debate over what we deem a good take on elves within the context of traditional games (I just assume that's the context, given the board), and we don't necessarily need to agree. There is a whole world between "elves are exactly that one thing!" and "elves can be whatever who cares". What's the purpose of this thread and this board if not to discuss these things?

Post some elfen architecture, make points about why you think it's good elven architecture.

it annoys me how people don't understand harems or what they were
it is simply a space reserved for women, it wasn't just a place filled with 'hot women', your sisters, mom, aunts, etc., would also be in there, as well as your pre-pubescent sons and unmarried daughters
the reason we see harems they way they are now is because of Europeans who heard 'women only' place and thought 'hot'

elves have huge mana reserves and use mana all the time, even to just maintain themselves and be healthy they need to use a trickle of mana. However they can't replenish mana themselves and instead need to seek out other races to get mana. "Humanity Fuck Yeah". A whole topic in itself. Started as an answer to supposedly negative depictions of humanity in contrast to other fictional races (aliens in scifi, races like elves in fantasy). Soon turned into massive ego-stroking aka 40k where humans are always supposed to be the bestest at everything and the center of the universe. The /tg/ variation of HFY often lashes out against elves (dwarves and orcs are cool, though), using them as a punching bag while still masturbating to elven women (they fuck human men, which is another win for humanity).
    >>
    >>98901264
Oh. My point was more of the opposite.
The human cum clearly has to be a quantity over quality, free-soup-handed-to-beggars poor-elf's product.
The implications are they would have to gather a lot, which is cursed though.

Actually, I'd say humans are probably worse sources for the purpose than horse, bull or other large strong animals/monsters that should probably contain more "life force" or something. Unless the intellectual/spiritual awareness of the soul producing the jizz matters.
    >>98899349
    >elves have huge mana reserves and use mana all the time, even to just maintain themselves and be healthy they need to use a trickle of mana. However they can't replenish mana themselves and instead need to seek out other races to get mana.
NNnnooooo that sounds like a shit deal. If this is supposed to be moe but also wholesome, elves deserve better.

I'd say, elves replenish mana normally, but they are constantly running low from their huge expenditures needed to defend humanity from all the threats in the world (and humanity) thanklessly, which they mayflies take for granted or don't even realize.

The noble but humble knife-eared protectors not only aren't given the resources they need, they have to scrape for mana boosting nourishments as if they were the lowest bottom-feeders of society. The Homo (sic!) species would end ages ago if elf women didn't have little boys to harvest from. Those innocent young ones are the only light in the dark, paying back the debt of the rotten adults.

if you read any 40k book you'll quickly realize that 99% of humanity is literally and metaphorically fucked
most humans join the T'au because they get one warm meal a day and breathable air with a lot of fanwanking about T'au raised humans meeting normal Imperium humans and going
    >Bitch, you live like this? By the greater good, how horrifying
meanwhile craftworlders live basically in borderline paradise, with the worst that can happen being like an occasional dark elf raid like every few hundred years or humans attacking
    >which seems to happen rarely because they can literally see into the future and steer according this, plus most craftworlds being the size of continents
ignoring some terrible punishment for seers who get a bit too selfish, they get 'lobotomized' by removing the part of the brain responsible for psyker powers, which makes them borderline unable to function as everything on a craftworld is designed to work by psychic commands

There is but a single young elf child left, born under mysterious circumstances that grows up between humans undiscovered and has to infiltrate Hogwarts to learn magic and discover a way to undo the curse and unsealf elffolk from the humanity's oppression.
And to go through various erotic (mis)adventures while on the quest.
