Your campaign, regardless of the genre, can be improved via magic undead ninjas.
>>
Nope.

You can't prove OP wrong.

Actually a good idea. Granted I think undead or "zombie variants" improve any setting from any genre really. I'm still stuck in loving zombies despite that media ship having sailed a long time ago.

>throw Uchiha Madara to your setting
>17 consecutive TPKs
>straight telling my players to reroll before they even finish their current character
>>
>>98877962
They are partially lobotomized cyborg proxy vessels for incorporeal entities. Does that count?
>>
I was on the fence between ninja or undead for next week's halloween session, "why not both?" didn't occur to me.
Thank you anon.

At that point its just Transhumanism with the serial numbers filed off.

What the fuck am I reading?
>>
>>98878276
Vampiric transhumanism?
>>

Peter Watts getting caught up in the Twilight craze of the mid 2000s.
Its got problems. Mostly a fun read anyway but the dawkins rant at the end kills it.

Someones homegame of GURPS Transhuman Space mixed with GURPS VtM, written up as web fiction to a blog, then later published.
You can tell just how minmaxed some of the PCs were based on the disads the characters in the novel are loaded up with

Despite how cheesy and silly this sounds, I kinda like the idea of undead ninjas, like a clan willingly going through a magical or alchemical transformation to become more deadly, with the cost being their mortal lives, or some eastern-themed necromancer resurrecting some long-dead ninjas to kill the party
>>
>>98878223
Yes. That is more than close enough. We're going on an American public schooling grading curve here.

the novel Blindsight. It's a long form discussion of the forms consciousness might take and an examination of how the idea of "you", the feeling that you are a single entity fully in charge of its own choices, is mostly an illusion propped up by self-trickery. By the time "you" make a choice, the choice is usually already made and the consciousness at the front of the brain gets a receipt for what we're doing like a chef getting tickets in the kitchen.

If you like sci-fi of the 'mostly hard' type where the author makes certain allowances for the story to take place and then focuses hard on Weird What-If Scenarios of a specific interest, it's worth reading Blindsight and Echopraxia.

The setting has "vampires as giga-autist obligate cannibals", the protagonist has had a hemispherectomy and is part of a crew going to explore an alien structure being built in the sol system that includes a surgically-induced multiple-personality-haver, a guy who's traded most of his face and hand nerves for VR hookups to those same nerves, and a vampire, to explore sense and consciousness.

A major faction in my just-completed mecha campaign used cloned ninjas, who wanted to achieve technological immortality but hadn't cracked the methodology yet. So it was a real kick in the nuts when they killed one of the player-characters, and the bastard accidentally came back to life via perfect nanoswarm symbiosis and consciousness upload. The guy who had repeatedly ruined their plans somehow became their ideal form of undead, and now they needed to capture him to reverse-engineer the process.

I recognize this is more adjacent to the OP than on-topic, but I also expect this thread was just tossed out to die, and I am still processing the end of my campaign.

I can find no fault in your logic.

Heck. If Neuromancer canonically takes its name from Necromancer, I don't see why not.

Came here to argue.
Cannot think of a reasonable objection.
Well played sir.

Now trying to figure out how to fit them in my battletech campaign. Manei domini already sort of count dont they?
>>
>>98877962
So like Hell's Paradise ninja zombies or like Naruto ninja zombies?
>>
>>98879710
Not going to lie. I made the Garo like group for my campaigns. Often been well liked, and them dropping hints on where to go and do is a great way to get the party back on track when they are wandering around and dropping some great plot hooks.

>>98877962
Consider this: evil lich kung fu monks with the dim mak.
>>
>>98879954
Whichever is easier for you to make plausible.

>Manei domini already sort of count dont they?
Since we're working on American public school grading, they more than count.
>>
>>98878527
This sounds crazy in a cool way
>>
>>98880374
Wouldn't be truly dead mess with your chi or some shit? I thought the whole point of becoming a wuxia kung fu ascended asshole was so you'd never die and be tied to life energy forever.
>>
>>98877962
The real question is - are they zinjas or are they nombies?
>>
>>98887967
Yes.
>>
>>98877962
Mine are less 'undead' and more 'mind controlled by a tentacle parasite'. Also, they're all busty tomboys with an occasional femboy in the mix.
>>
You're not gonna believe this...

And mine include cyber-zombie nuns. It's about the archetype instead of the details.

Legit Mortal Kombat 2 was where I started to really like undead ninjas.
