>>98875219The question made the Magistrate pause. He remembered Kyrea presenting documents that confirmed both her identity and her authority. He also remembered seeing an order concerning the investigation. But the more he thought about it, the less certain he became. Only two sets of orders had ever been placed on his desk: Windstride’s and Firewing’s. Yet Kyrea supposedly had two separate assignments—one to oversee the ranger training, and another to investigate the destruction of the previous unit.If that second assignment was official, where was his copy? The Magistrate frowned.Kyrea had never treated the investigation as secret. She had spoken about it openly from the moment she arrived and had even displayed what appeared to be an official order. So why had she never formally submitted it to him, the town’s governor?Something was wrong. He explained this to Windstride. Aeldor listened carefully, then asked>Do you remember whether the document carried the signature of either the Commander-in-Chief or the Spymaster? The Magistrate hesitated.>I remember the military seal.>That wasn’t my question.A brief silence followed.>No. I don’t remember any signature. And I never had the chance to verify the Royal Palace’s magical imprint.Windstride’s expression tightened.>Then perhaps she never gave you a copy because she knew you would examine it properly.---Cont., because it's too much text for one post
>>98876836The implication settled between them. The Magistrate stared at him.>You think the order was forged?>I think it is possible. That answer was somehow more troubling than outright certainty.>Why would she forge an investigation order?>My guess? She came here on legitimate business, then used that authority to pursue something personal. The training assignment gave her a reason to be in Iseranaar. The investigation gave her an excuse to question people, access records, and involve herself in matters that had nothing to do with the rangers. The Magistrate immediately thought of Kyrea’s argument with Captain Sunblaze. Her fixation on him. Her constant questions. For the first time, those incidents no longer seemed merely unpleasant. They formed a pattern.Still, he forced himself not to leap to conclusions.>I have the authority to demand an official copy of the order. If there is nothing wrong with it, she should have no reason to object.>And if there is?>Then her reaction may tell me more than the document itself.Windstride gave a slow nod.>Whatever you discover, keep it to yourself until you have enough evidence to act. If she is abusing her authority, warning her too early will only make her more careful. The Magistrate nodded in return. Then the two elves parted ways, each now considerably less certain that Executrix Firewing’s presence in Iseranaar was as official as she claimed.

>>98875261Later that evening, one of the officers at the town keep was approached by a messenger carrying a note and a small package intended for Executrix Firewing. The sender, he explained, wished to remain anonymous.Since outsiders were not permitted beyond the public areas of the keep, the officer took the package himself and assured the messenger that he would deliver it personally. After paying him several silver pieces for his trouble, he watched the man leave before heading deeper into the building. At first, the whole thing struck him as mildly amusing. So even someone as cold as Firewing had managed to attract a secret admirer. Then again, everyone had their own tastes.By the time he reached the corridor containing the Executrix’s private quarters, most of the keep had settled down for the evening. He stopped outside her door, adjusted the package under one arm, and knocked three times. No response. The officer frowned.Firewing had made it quite clear that she intended to remain in her quarters that evening. Even if she had no desire to see anyone, he would have expected at least an irritated command to leave her alone. He knocked again, harder this time.>Madam?Still nothing. His amusement vanished. After glancing down the empty corridor, he leaned closer and pressed an ear to the door. He could hear no footsteps, no movement, no rustle of papers from within. For a moment, he considered trying the handle. His hand even moved toward it before he stopped himself. Entering the private quarters of a military intelligence officer without permission was not something he wanted to explain later. So he stepped back. Perhaps she had slipped out without informing anyone. That was the most reasonable explanation. The officer looked down at the package, then gave the closed door one last uneasy glance before walking away. He would give it to her when she returned.

>>98877517Celia shuffled quickly across the commons area with Sunblaze, practically pulling him into the back area of the Inn. The hallway for the six rooms was perfectly quiet as it should be; the privacy spells were in full effect. She pushed him into the pre-arranged windowless room and dropped the act as she leaned against the door. >Well Andrenn. I’m glad you came. Don’t bother sitting, we only have a moment before we need to move. You were followed by Kyrea, as T suspected even if I hoped she hadn’t. It shortens our ability to prepare. I want to work with you. As an equal. The heavy emphasis on equal was not lost on Sunblaze as he listened to Celia speak. >I don’t need your rank to get the things I want or your connections to cover up when they go missing. The blunt and calm way Celia spoke had a confidence than Sunblaze had never seen from her. From behind her back she pulled his money satchel out and tossed it to him to show she wasn’t lying. She was already continuing as he caught it. >But I do need your honesty and level head. Just like you need someone unhindered by rules and can think outside that helmet. You’re comfortable being seen where I prefer not to be. I find things, you fight things. And we both want to protect Andris.A short pause for a breath. >You’re probably wondering why I want to work with you. I want to like me. I don’t like Bookbinder, nor Kisskinder, and definitely not Shanks. I want to be just me.A candle lit itself beside Sunblaze. He saw Celia squeeze her eyes shut with a sense of dread but she continued shakily. >But first, we know of two serious, dangerous plots against you. We need you to get caught with… me to break one of those plots. To break Kyrea. She blew out the candle and began opening the door. As she did she whimpered.>I’m trusting you, so please, don’t... touch me.Quickly she switched back to the student and crossed the hall to the bedroom with the open curtains.
>>98881301It's obviously a setup. Celia would close the curtains right away after disrobing and quickly get dressed. The only relevant thing for Sunblaze would be seeing the scars, pockmarks, etc on Celia briefly.Tewae is almost ready to pull the trigger on her plan and framing Kyrea as a peeping Tom might be enough, it will depend on what Kyrea does with this “evidence”. She was initially worried Kyrea was there to break the criminal networks and was blaming Sunblaze for not doing his job. But once they met face to face and she realized her guild wasn't in danger she switched over to using Kyrea as a political pawn in her primary schemes. Tewae was willing to throw Sunblaze under the bus to get this done until Kyrea fucked up at the market making him more useful as a friend than a victim. Celia wanting him brought into the guild has her thinking about how to change her plans.
>>98881301>>98881303tl;dr on why they need to be "caught", cuz I'm lost
>>98880131Why would that be inevitable? You're saying companies have never righted the ship before? Or that they were even referring to late-stage Bioware? People just don't think before posting.
>>98881341Tewae plans to use her to prove the kingdom is forcing a crazed psycho inspector onto them that's trying to frame locals so she can start her fight against the kingdom to make Iseranaar it's own nation. The final goal is to take over the city in a super long play. Mostly ignore that though, its like, a 8 year plan.In terms of the story, she's just trying to make Kyrea a social pariah and to get everyone to outright hate her.
>>98881303In my opinion, he would definitely need to touch her in some limited extent, like forcefully undressing her, to make it more believable, but since this would make the line between staging and actually doing it blur too much, they would have to come up with something else. Don't forget Kyrea wanted to frame him as an abuser, and giving her exactly what she needs, while obviously suspicious, would also make her less careful.

They told him Tewae was the leader of the small group based out of the Inn and she reported to someone above her. They mostly trafficked rumors and fenced things for the wider guild so Tewae's freelance brothel was tolerated and she kept that money. To start he would be taught how to speak thief and gain access to their information network. In return he would begin protecting Celia and a few other Magpies at the academy. Nothing illegal, just new guard paths, guard schedules, and general presence. And the Academy guards must stop harassing all blood elves.
>>98884173>That’s the deal. We need a friend in the military, not an asset. You do that and we’ll see if we can work together. If things work out, we’ll keep folding you in.Tewae had been focusing on him the entire time she spoke, but relaxed and held up his expensive clothes. >Now in a moment you’re going to drunkenly stumble over to the guard house while sending our poor defenseless waif crying as she walks back to her dorm.Tewae left the room and closed the door again. Celia took the next few minutes to give him the fastest directions through the Warrens to get back to the keep while staying hidden. He was supposed to head back as quick as he could, change into his uniform, then go looking for Kyrea under pretense of discussing the Rangers training. A copy of the reports were already in his room for him to take to her. Then to get the place busy looking for her. When the single knock was heard she began to leave, but turned and spoke one last time.>Think about the offer please. If you agree, next time you see me call me by the new name of your aide. I look forward to hearing who I am.Kyrea was beginning to think she’d missed his exit or maybe there was a back door. She was about to give in and head back when she heard the students distinctive voice. She watched as Celia ran from the Inn crying followed shortly by a very drunk Andrenn stumbling out. He looked around dizzily then appeared to make his decision and began making his way towards the forest. It wasn’t far to the gate house from here, so Kyrea figured she should at least see if he was just lost or actually heading outside the walls again tonight. She jumped between the roof tops quietly and quickly. ---She wants to give her military personality a new last name so she can compartmentalize it like her other ones. Pick something. It has a practical use because as an example, Celia Bookbinder is enrolled at the academy, not Kisskinder. bonus - https://files.catbox.moe/4tmlrn.png
>>98883835
>>98881893Yeah thats why its a long term plan. She'd lose the Academy if they vote/choose to leave, unless she just happened to have a bright young up-and-comer researcher just promoted to the board fighting to stay. And the wider military would leave, but all the people who lived local would want to stay and they could have a well respected captain leading them. As I'm sure other GMs can attest to, planner villains are annoying to write for, but fun.

>>98884658But also, if you want something specific, like THICC, write something like "the character is THICC (search the term on the internet)"You can apply this to everything, not only body proportions
>>98884613Helping the living ? No, she save the potential fresh blood stock.
>>98884313I have some doubts where this story us going.First, while he would appreciate having informants, making him outright the member of this guild seems off. Then providing Celia with another identity won't change the fact she'll both have to attend the academy and work for him full time.Once I'll get home I'll post what Kyrea is about to do next.
>>98885004Very nice, vaguely melancholy vibes. Is it suppsoed to be a specific place?>>98885123They really used copper in pre-Colombian (I guess north?) America?I thought that was fake news.
>>98885176the upper one is Szczecin/ Stettin in Poland, with the West Pomeranian Voivodeship Building in the background. Probably not 100% accurate to real life in depiction, obviouslyThe lower one is supposed to be the Cahokia Mounds in Illinois (USA), from the Mississippian period. Also no guarantee for pure historical accuracy.

>>98884954Yeah he can turn it down. Hell im 3:2 he'll turn it down. But it does give him free access to info and all hes doing is making the academy safer. Along with being a member so hes protected by the guild. Celia would stay a student in either case, she'd just be able to have a different name for introductions and such. And it would mean she wouldn't need to put on an act around him.
>>98885341Impressive what it can do with multiple distinct characters now.
>>98885278I just checked, the building is pretty accurate. The waterfront, well, not so much. Also, why are all the place names in Pommerania and Silesia German on Google Maps. >>98885929Ah, well that's trickier. Even feeding the image to ChatGPT and asking how it would describe the outfit in a prompt works about 10% of the time. When I want to reuse a specific asset from one image, I usually just tell it to do that.>i.e. Please create an image of <Aure> (from image #1) wearing the outfit in image #2, using the art style of image #2FYI though, ChatGPT *really* doesn't like this outfit (for obvious reasons). You kinda have to brute force it.

>>98884195Watching a drunken man stumble through the streets had been mildly amusing, but it had yielded nothing useful. More importantly, the longer Kyrea followed him, the more convinced she became that the man was not Sunblaze at all.Eventually, she abandoned the pursuit and began making her way back toward the keep.Still, the evening had not been entirely wasted. She had picked up one rather interesting piece of information about him—something she might be able to use to sway his little orderly to her side.By the time Kyrea returned to the keep, she was already reviewing everything she had gathered on Sunblaze so far. It might be enough to have him suspended and recalled to the capital, but it was nowhere near enough to support a charge of treason. She still had no proof that he had deliberately sent the rangers to their deaths, nor any concrete evidence that the goat-like creatures had been involved. The possibility remained, but for now she had only a single clue pointing in that direction. Then her thoughts returned to the tavern. It could hardly be a coincidence that so many threads connected to her investigation seemed to lead back to that miserable den. The place was beginning to look like far more than a simple public house. Thus she decided she would contact the appropriate authorities and have them begin looking into the possibility of organised criminal activity in Iseranaar. And perhaps it was time to put a little more pressure on Sunblaze’s sister about those notes. At this point, Kyrea doubted she would uncover much more about him from within the town walls. If she wanted real answers, she would eventually have to look beyond them.

>>98885453Any chances for it to work without him agreeing for the membership?
>>98887142Oh sure, he'll just continue to be an asset. Celia will just feel like she won't be able to fully trust him. She sprung this on him out of nowhere and it's a product of her quick calculations. She thinks it's perfect. Tewae thinks he's going to turn it down on principle but let her try cause it would benefit her a ton and she likes poking fun at him. She's a bitch with a nice smile so watching a straight laced man like him blush is pure candy to her.It does give him easy access to Senna, ability to send messages through Uliace, and everything spy related Celia does.
>>98887366So in fact, to progress the story plots the way I planned he has to do it?
>>98883834>Is that accurate?Kinda, but not as much as I'd hoped. I fed it a source map I created, but the AI confabulated some of colors. Wurtenburg and Schleswig-Holstein shouldn't be colored in as Ottoman territory. Brandenburg isn't supposed to be colored as part of Sweden. Poland and Sicily/Naples aren't supposed to be colored as parts of Anglo-France.>What hapened to Prussia and PolandConcerning Prussia, it's limping along with territory covering Pomerania/Pomerelia, but didn't become the military powerhouse of the German states the way it did in our timeline, instead centering its development around Danzig, while Russia annexed Ostpreußen with little opposition. You see, the eastern Baltic coast was once the homeland of the Elven civilization before their collapse in distant antiquity (very distant antiquity, like before the sinking of Atlantis kind of distant), and in our time it is a rather desolate region on account of its depleted natural resources, exhausted farmlands, and vast inhospitable ruins. The further east and north you get along the Baltic, the spookier it is. And as a depopulated, maybe-haunted wasteland, such places are naturally more fit for the temperament of the Russian soul.As for Poland, having them as a sovereign nation in the late 19th century is a bit of a stretch, but I figure that with a somewhat weaker Prussia and a defeated Austria post-1680s, the 18th century Partitions of Poland wouldn't have happened quite the way they did historically. So Poland remains independent, though reduced to its southern territories. The projection I was using as the base for the map is a bit odd, but the intent is for Warsaw to sit right at the Polish/Russian border.I don't mind the map 'tism, anon. It just give me reason to write lore!

>>98887487how far does your worldbuilding go? Is WW1 the current "now" time, or do you also have a postwar period once we move into the 1920s, 30s or even 40s
>>98887591Mostly it's about convincing Celia to pretend to agree working with Kyrea, so she could spy on her, even through this would mean being constantly under her influence, which might eventually affect her.Besides, Kyrea in my original plan needed some dirt on both Magistrate and Dean to blackmail them, and I think Celia might unwittingly provide some of it.
>>98886287Damn her precise swordswomanship!
>>98886490Modestly fixed.https://files.catbox.moe/xc2azc.png
>>98887615I'd suggest taking the deal then cause Kyrea is going to run roughshod over her socially. Celia can hold an act but she's not good at spy stuff. She won't betray her very small in group though.Or dont take it and we can enjoy watching Celia become the super villain she's always been standing on the edge of. Im good with both.
>>98887964Badass, anon. Very badass.
>The Ashwood Abbey is a compact of hunters, originally founded as a hedonistic society in Scotland. They have since evolved into an influential formal hunting club, seeking to track down the creatures of darkness for sport.>Unlike many hunter organizations which seek out creatures of darkness out of a deep fear or a desire for power, the Abbey's members are in it purely for what they perceive as fun. The ordinary offers no joy, and they seek out the extreme thrill that only torturing a vampire or tracking a werewolf can give. Many of the Abbey's members possess trophies from successful hunts, such as fangs, demonskin clothes, and so on. Many members also proudly sport scars and missing body parts as marks of their encounters.Damn, these people are crazy. Government spooks, religious orders and vengeful survivors, i get. But bored elites hunting the supernatural for fun and sport? Thats just wild.

>>98888007I gotta say, I've been enjoying the gens where your vampire is using those "shadow magic" tendrils against her foes. It's a pretty cool effect.
>>98888116Glad you like it! In this particular case, i really enjoyed how you notice more shadow magic the longer you look. Its reaching for the light, obviously. Then you might notice the guy on the left already being pulled into the greenery. And then the tendril wrapping itself around the central Ashwood hunter legs. Might post some more shadow stuff next thread
>>98888144oh and there is another tendril going for the back of the woman. Almost missed that.
>>98887487>As for Poland, having them as a sovereign nation in the late 19th century is a bit of a stretchlol. lmao even. Anon, the fall of Poland began in 1505. Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth shot itself in the arse in 1573, then in the middle of 17th century situation was already so bad invaders of had to make a queue (and in between Poland shot itself in the arse again) and after Great Northern War it was painfully clear the Res Public Utriusque Nationis is dead. And a glimpse of terminal lucidity on 3rd May 1971 was smothered with a pillow just one year later. If you want a timeline where Poland isn't a laughing stock of XIX century Europe you've got to rewind to ~1610 when Russian boyars offered crown to Władysław IV Vasa (his fuckwad catholic father blocked it because boyars wanted Władysław to convert to Orthodoxy.)

>>98888381why are you being a tism over their stuff? stop that
>>98888381>>98888408Based Pole-hater. Honestly, the main reason I kept Poland on the map is because Poland getting its cheeks thoroughly clapped is an intrinsic part of any proper World War scenario. It's there so that when Russia becomes the USSR, it can gobble up Poland and signal that a third great power has entered the fray.
Um... it's the conviction to work on herself and control her temper more and find inner peace.I dunno. I just had the image pop into my head and I felt compelled to make it.

>>98887487>I don't mind the map 'tism, anon. It just give me reason to write lore!Cool, and thanks for all the explanations. My other questions would be how the Ottomans and Russians remain stable. Both of them were fraying at the edges by the time Napoleon showed up IRLI guess Ottoman rule extending to the Danube gave them a slight boost that helped them, but on the otehr hand their rule in the Balkans and Romania was never popular, and never particularly stable.Ottoman troops attempting to pacify the Austrian Alps is probably not going to end well, either. And on the Russian side, well, a strong Russia has more-or-less inevitably attacked the Ottomans. This gets weirder because Russia might think 'all those Baltic ports are haunted by Elvish swamp ghosts, we need better ports'
