But as for ways to leave the shrine, my Shinto education is a little faded, but I think it's not uncommon for them to have vessels for the deity. You can interact with other spirits if you lack Tangibility and the like, however. To get any sort of pocket dimension, you will need Liminal Space. The train can offer you basic supplies, which can include books, but you might need to find source copies from elsewhere for it to replicate, as generating knowledge is beyond the scope of the train. You can't Awaken the ghost train since it is your Anchor. I should probably amend that to the extra info at the end that your Anchor can't be Awoken. Yes, Farsight will let you bring the dead aboard the train for a spell. You can shapeshift while possessing by a limited amount, based on Embodiment, not Soulwarping. To shapeshift a person you're possessing, you specifically need the Signature Power: Sculpted Possession. This can also give you far more control over how you shapeshift an object you're possessing.I'm glad you the Ghost Train!

If companions are your friends, then I'd rather build friendships naturally than magically get a friend. I'll still go through and pick the ones I'd think I get along best with, but it feels more hollow. As a result, if the same resource pool is spend on personal powers and companions, I'll usually get maybe 1 companion, if that. If it's more transactional, like getting party members, then I'm only looking at them as a vehicle for what they provide and their personalities are just an evaluation of their liabilities. I've read CYOAs where I liked the companions before, but in general terms, it's the section I'm most likely to skim. Any time I put companions in CYOAs, I tend to put heavy emphasis on what they can provide you. In terms of sections I like most, though, I'd say body-options-coupled-with-powers. Not like CYOAs where it's 'build your new body' and you're just picking bust size and such, but like what I did in the ghost CYOA where your body archetype affects both your appearance and the vibe of things you're acclimated to. I don't want to say I care for powers sections especially. I do like them alright, but that's because they often have some of the most interesting options, not because they're done in a particularly novel way all the time. Often with powers, I'll read everything thoughtfully but ultimately decide on the same few things I tend towards in any CYOA. That's why I like when they're coupled with something like species so I have more dimensions to be thinking about them.

There are a great many ways to lead a 'normal', if not enhanced life as a Ghost. One of the most simple I can think of is Possession 3, Willwell 3, Anchorless. You can take somebody's body forever and live their life, but you can also fly and do other cool ghost powers as well. Go anywhere, do anything, be anyone.But is this the right thing to do? To be a ghost and desperately cling on to the living? To interact with them, observe them, that's fine. But to pretend that you are still alive, to try and make those connections? I'm not sure if it's healthy.
