What's the greatest injury one of your characters has survived (without being resurrected)? My D&D Paladin once survived being torn in half by a dragon.

My character's mauled head, really just the brain, was barely saved & was able to be placed in a clone body

Which, by the way, was only accomplished with max Sta for his level, a geas to step Aggravated damage down to Lethal, and a Gift to step Lethal damage down to superficial, or else he'd have been blown into a cloud of fat and plasma.

My Fighter (5e) survived getting struck by a Twinned spell, Transmuted Spell Scorching Ray turning the Fire damage into Acid.
My fighter got hosed the fuck down with 8 beams of sulphuric acid and basically turned into organic mush, but survived because I got lucky on my deathsave and landed a Nat 20 on my first roll and my second roll landed above 10

My character wanted to be mercy killed, but the FUCKING WIZARD decided I was too useful to die and I was "in perfect condition" for a project he had been needing a subject for.
That's the story of how my fighter got effectively turned into a knock-off 40K Dreadnought and how my character effectively switched race from Human to Warforged whilst also being given the "Abberation" subtype.

Excellent weaving of mechanics and storytelling.

Shot in the head by a mutalisk, not a direct hit, but still nearly lethal and he almost lost an eye.

GM overtuned the absolute FUCK out of a Mortal Sorcerer in Exalted and the guy hilted a whole-ass sword through my Lunar's eye and out the back of the skull.

Had to invoke Dramatic Injury to keep playing.

Pulling the pin on a grenade, dropping it into his bag of grenades then tackling a double agent in a Dark Heresy game.

You could probably carry what was left of him around in a bucket and while most tech priests would've been cool with an excuse for more prosthetics, he wasn't like that.

Never stab a Hive worlder in the back after they decide they're ride or die for you.

Your pic related up to eleve. Literally pincushioned by spears, swords and arrows. He was a shadow dukzarist with eternal blood, 12 con, high phys res and regen. Basically Manji from blade of the immortal

On a more normal character (human monk) being pounced by an utahraptor and almost gutted, and later on the campaign had a castle collapsed on him and lost an arm and an eye

What happened with your character after? Im >>98871033 & after some miracles of the Omnissiah the GM rulled I could basically be a servoskull with a single mechadendrite for a short bit until I was able to get some downtime & grow a clone body for myself then transfer back to it.

Fate point and the guy he saved from being put down by the double agent was our Throne Agent.
So presumably his boss scooped up what was left of him, flashed his badge around the hive they were in and said something to the effect of 'Keep this man alive, and if he isn't alive then start there, or else'

Far as Blas was concerned he blacked out expecting that to be the end of it, but ain't no way he was letting a fucker get the W, and then woke up an unknown amount of time later on the Inquisitors flagship, hopped up to the eyeballs on who knows what, with people telling him it was better he didn't see what he looked like for at least a few more weeks at minimum.

It was basically the last scene of the game, so afterwards I imagine he wrote a highly controversial treaty called something like 'Our Virtues Irrational: An argument in defence of emotions' while he was stuck in bed, but got to helicopter his dick at those that wanted to kick him out since Inquisition.

I played a homebrew WoD based 40k game where we were inquisitorial acolytes (logic for playing it over Dark Heresy being, Dark Heresy is a pain).

In this system barring cases where death is just absolutely inescapable, you could choose to hold onto life with an absolutely garbage character. I was playing a fraudulent 'techpriest', who was actually just an abhuman who fled from a ship ferrying some to noble buyers, found shelter at a hideout where techpriest acolytes were doing some shady business on the side, and picked up the techpriest-y skills and presentation there.

As part of a great effort to make dosh in a Hive we were investigating, we set up a bar in the underhive. An exceptionally cyborgized guy showed up there one day, playing it like he's a very nice and charming, if somewhat murderous, toaster. Naturally he turned out to be exceptionally deadly and had a grudge against my fellow player, which led to him just absolutely demolishing my character and extracting info on where the fellow player hid, who he promptly beheaded.

My character ended up:
>Missing a leg
>Missing his ears
>With an irrepairably broken back
>Overall heavily injured
>Missing several internal organs
>And basically defaced

Then in a separate instance a spaceport lascannon turret grazed his face and vaporized it. Again.

This all at least gave him a good reason to finally install implants, and start relying on puppet servitor bodies to do the facetanking for him, down to posing as merely a scribe for a serious tech priest (who was just a servitor dressed up like a tech priest).

Well that sucks your game ended

The best part is that the mechanics still could have happened even without the storyshit.

Not technically surviving the injury but I feel is worthy of mention: when my GM ran Tomb of Horrors in 3.5 I made a survival-focused Psion Elan build, and had some innate elan powers that I could use by spending power points, which included the ability to add extra bonuses to my saving throws which seemed like a good thing to have in fucking Tomb of Horrors.

In one of the rooms like halfway in, I investigated a tapestry and triggered a "the tapestry is actually a green mold, it falls on you and you are dead." No damage, no roll, just 'you're dead' because you looked for clues.
So RAW I'm just fucking dead without any way out of it, but then I remembered that one of my abilities that I had not used yet was an immediate-action 10 ft teleport. The DM wasn't happy about it but admitted that got me out of the instant-kill fuck you zone.

A demon vampire queen trapped us in Hell and told my party to kill each other so my ninja attacked another guy and a caveman thawed out of ice helped me. The guy we tried to kill detonated a duffel bag of C4 and killed all of us but the demon woman brought us back as decapitated heads and forced us to agree to become her thralls where she'd rape our souls for eternity in Hell.

Nat 20 in Deathsave 5e gets you back up with 1hp. You wouldnt even need to roll for anymore death saves. You facetanked it.

The Warforged/Aberration bit is super cool. Love those kind of events and things.

Your Paladin survived being torn in half? Was the bottom half making unarmed kick strikes and the top half looking for a Health Potion ?

Nah, it was the most satisfying ending to a campaign I've ever had.
It was pretty much a perfect campaign. 10/10 the entire way through.

Werewolf: the Apocalypse, my character got shotgunned through his spine and out his chest, splashing his ribcage and most of his vital organs onto the ground. He just barely managed to come back from it thanks to death-rage, but he can never go shirtless again or people will see the horrendous scarring on front and back of his torso. This is kind of how Werewolf works, though. His packmates have their own scars from getting eviscerated, or having half their head blown off by a silver bullet.

Runner-up would be my Curse of Strahd character, who once was half-possessed and being agonizingly life-leeched by a ghost. Every attack the party made against the ghost shared the injury with him, so he spent the whole fight being tortured by the ghost AND by his companions. He couldn't even fall unconscious, because the healer had to keep waking him up to prevent him outright dying. Horrifying shit, but it was a great moment in the story.

She had her tail cut off, then proceeded to absolutely body 4 enemy mooks and almost killed the party's major NPC friend, another NPC, and as a result almost killed another PC.

It's that or the time she ate a Dodon Ray through the side. She got better though.
