Maybe gimmicks other than Seize / Finisher would have a place if regular unprimed sergeants could issue challenges, especially against other basic sergeants.
Flurry of Hits' D1 limitation is far less noticeable among W1 duelists. It's as if it had been made with Charnabal sabres in mind.

I still wonder why you never see just a double power fist combo, kind of like how some guys just take one lightning claw OR two. Why not have marines that go full on power-fisticuffs?
>>
>>98872202
>inb4 TS double-fister appears
There are things with two fists, like Aggressors and Calgar. For the most part, two fists have had diminishing returns. Twice the price of a single fist for one more attack isn't THAT great. Sometimes you got an extra attack from just having a pistol or another CCW. Other times a lightning claw was a cheaper option and let you choose between a strong fist or fast claw strikes. Claws are mostly taken in pairs because most of the time they've available as a paired option.
>>

Lightning claws?
>>
>>98871720
>Maybe gimmicks other than Seize / Finisher would have a place
They do, their place is "situational use".

Grandstand is (potentially) the strongest offensive buff out of any gambit, but relies on enormous outside support (and therefore costs a lot of initiative buff to use). Guard up is invaluable as a survival tool, parry is useful for shutting down combos, measure(whatever the "automatically get advantage if you survive") is good for getting out of a challenge you dont want to be winning... As well as nearly all of the legion reactions having their own use cases and being worthwhile.

You are confusing "seize the initiative and finishing blow are the most generically good" with "they are therefore the only gambits you take"

There's more nuance to challenges that only gets explored when both players are into it. Guard Up, when you remember that missed attacks add to your initiative score next round, is not bad. Flurry of Blows becomes better when you're fighting someone who is already wounded.
If the players don't care about it though of course they're just gonna take the pokemon-tier bonuses.

Your plan against the melee army is...
To have low scoring and trying to out-melee them ?
You don't even have a tactical for the home objective.
>>
>>98873149
>You don't even have a tactical
I do? Theres two units there (I normally bring three, but I figured the SA goons can fill in some, especially with convocators for the situational +1 line where I need it). I could drop the librarian for a MoS, but with no deep strike im not sure thats worth it.

>trying to out melee them
The plan is to primarily shoot them (with things like seekers and laser destroyers, conversion beamer predators also sound promising with that D3 Ap2 mode), although there is SOME melee potential in the army because entirely foregoing it seems overly risky. Vet breachers are actually reasonably fine against (basic) custodes (lascutters dont care about eternal warrior) and raptors can do good damage if I get a status off on a unit.

True. If the other guy is already taking Finisher, which multiplies DMG output by 1.5 or 2x, then the other guy might as well try Grandstand or Guard or something.
Seize would be pointless, as they'd already go first
>>
>>98873720
Thats the thing I think people forget with talking about "oh theres a couple "clearly the best" gambits", thats the point.

You need these strong gambits to give a first mover advantage to the challenger/the person with challenge advantage, theyre a thing to fight over as much as anything else. And their presence contextualizes everything else, often as a response to "so what do you do if the other guy has one of the strong options".
>>
>>98873720
>Seize would be pointless, as they'd already go first
Unless they have say a paragon blade going up against a thunder hammer or fist, where suddenly you can finishing blow and still possibly go first.
>>
>>98873802
I think the flow diagram after the other guy chooses Finisher is to minimize the damage advantage he's going to get.
However I think Guard Up is severely hurt by the fact that, against an WS5 attacker, you can get +3WS and they keep hitting a WS6 target on a 5+.
So you trade all but one of your attacks for something with severely diminishing returns. -33% incoming enemy DMG at best, at the expense of -75%—80% of your own damage.

Test the Foe (fight normally but auto gain advantage of you survive) might be better.
>>
I want to try a sicaran venator, but I dont like the way the normal model looks. Thoughts on converting a sicaran turret to "counts as venator"? Give it some sort of big laser cannon and use it as a proxy.

I just dont like the centerline aesthetic very much, it does not fit a battle tank.
>>
>>98874047
Theres definetly times you dont want to pick guard up defensively, but the way it sets you up to succeed next round cant be ignored imo.

Its also the best (only even) properly defensive option you have a lot of the time, and it giving +1WS also helps with damage somewhat. You take it, almost certainly survive the round, maybe do some chip damage in vs the other guy. Next round you can play greedier/more aggressively using the cushion of focus you gained from the last round. Big success and good times for all.

>test the foe might be better
If you think you will survive the round and really want out of the fight? Sure. But it doesent help if youre worried someone took finishing blow and is about to concave your face.
>>
>>98874068
>maybe do some chip damage in vs the other guy
Big maybe, as it is one single WS+1 attack.
But yeah now that I think of it, now everyone can choose to simply tank a Finisher hammer (mwahaha). Ain't so shrimple after all
>>
>>98874182
>Big maybe, as it is one single WS+1 attack.
True, not guaranteed by any means. But WS+1 also improves your odds of hitting decently well in a lot of cases (either going from 5s to 4s - 50% better chance to hit - or from 4s to 3s - 33% better chance to hit - inversely proportional to how much it does for defense really)

Inb4 we get a dedicated breacher consul who can take a lascutter, and they just always take guard up to be effective WS+1 the entire time.
>>
>>98874068
You can use Guard Up offensivly too, to get one advantageous attack and bonuses to your focus roll for next round. There's no guarantee you won't get killed sure, but they are called gambits.
>>

a successful charge is a charge that connects, a disordered charge is a charge that connects but doesn't give you the fun times

but also you get to do things like invoke Cybertheurgic Rites, cast Biomantic Rage, because they aren't Special Rules so it doesn't matter if your charge is disordered or not

for special rules, Templars get better set-ups, i'm sure there's others i'm not gonna check every unit entry for you

but still yeah volley attacks, particularly if you already slapped a status on the other unit in the shooting phase

it's free real estate

I'm amusing myself statting ships based on the vague mentions in the Black Books like a ship based on the mentioned "lance cruiser" designation.

I'm genuinely drawn to having it mount a single massively powerful and upgunned lance battery on the prow but no other weapons except for AAA turrets. Idk I've always been disappointed that the setting especially the Heresy doesn't have a LOGHmaxxing ship with frontal beams for days.
>>
>>98875178
Nay. What I like the most about 40k (and Dune) is that protective technologies have made close combat viable again.
Ships ought to survive being sniped at relativistic distances, so they can engage in much cooler broadside cannonades, ramming, and boarding actions. Power swashbuckling.

Battlefleet gothic might get released and made exclusive to the HH setting.
I do wonder how "feasible" it is for the Battlefleets in Warhammer 30k+40k to conduct combat like in LOGH with formations instead of big dogfights with broadside firing and combat.
Obviously it might be a bit weird as those ships if I remember correctly were not designed with formation space combat in mind but meant to be Napoleonic era navy ship combat but in space. But I can see GW looking at LoGH and making some ships designed with LoGH space combat in mind. I wouldn't mind this time.

I remember seeing an anon who painted his Legions Solar Auxilia models as the LoGH Rosenritter. Could also pass for pre-chaos Luna Wolves too, but it seems odd that LoGH sporadically gets mentioned here from time to time. Is there some kind of reason for this?
>>

>98875298 I meant to reply to >>98875217 Sorry I'm tired.
Those shoulderpad sizes are gonna change at some point. If that happens the best that can be done is that they get reused for Blackshield marines or legion specific companies of space marines in scavenged/salvaged/jury rigged power armor.
>>

>Ships ought to survive being sniped at relativistic distances, so they can engage in much cooler broadside cannonades, ramming, and boarding actions. Power swashbuckling.

yes. Although despite what some NERDS like physicists might tell you lance weapons aren't all that much longer range that macro-cannons in BFG and since cruisers and above have limited turning ability and need to keep moving an ALL PROW lance cruiser wouldn't be picking people off from across the map it would be closing on enemy ships while trying to maneuver so its always facing prow on all using other ships as cover while it reposition.

I think I probably should give it some secondary armaments. Maybe low power broadside lances from an LC and port/starboard torpedo tubes. Logically the best followup armament to a massive prow lance that encourges you to charge right in would be torpedo tubes loaded with boarding torpedoes.

>>98875567

They do, and desu I think if you really want to kit them out for melee you either want LC (which are afaik just better than any power weapon) or power fists (which are worse than thunder hammers in the mirror match, but still that all important Ap2 D2).

But I just thought power axes would be cool, and I think theyre mainly going to need to get through "lower tier" melee units anyways, I have no intention to throw them into the jaws of assault vets or terminator squads. I was half tempted to do a spear squad for the whole "phalanx" thing, but im just a sucker for axes.

>>
>>98879817
The reason is "you need a detachment for cheap". But I get what you mean in how niche the use case is. They just mainly suffer from having the same equipment costs as centurions, which means if you DO kit them out the price difference stops being that significant (its cheaper to take one centurion than two kitted out optae even). Making them "base" cheaper could help fix that end result, but also lead to abuse since they would be like 25pts to unlock a detachment then.

Really I think they need to do "something" beyond just "being a command choice". Maybe they provide a free "logistical benefit" effect, so not a full extra detachment but some extra slot (maybe with some restrictions), or maybe they have some shenanigans for LD/status removal ("theyre closer to the men and therefore the rank and file trust them more") or whatever.

>>98880117
Praetor + 2~ right hand men.
>>
>>98879632
>the gap between melee units and regular units might be the closest it's ever been
Its actually the opposite. Charging doesent give an advantage, so units are pretty locked to their profiles in terms of what they get. Melee units have 2 or even 3a base, while non melee units tend to have 1.

You might find SOME niche cases where you can make it work, but for the most part there arent many "hybrid units" unless you count things like terminators.

DG melee is totally viable though, none of the strategies are legion locked this time around.

>scythes suck
"yes"

Scythes are good (especially with the reaping blow changes), theyre power axes+, the issue with them is the same issue as all other "power weapon upgrades" face, which is that base power weapons are overcosted and the upgrade ends up being thunder hammer/power fist points. But for their weight class theyre a perfectly respectable weapon.

It is true that (ranged) units can no longer level the field by charging anymore, that everyone remains what their datasheet says they are... but seeing how guns no longer block charging... you know?
Like yeah, Despoilers or Assault marines would win combat against say Tacticals or HSS. But the latter could, with some luck, do enough with shooting that you can play them aggressively and seize ground with them. So not melee, but you could still play them aggressive and forward, right?
Though now that I think of it, only Tacticals and specifically HSS benefit from the DG trait, isn't it?

>base power weapons are overcosted
Ooh so that's it
>and the upgrade ends up being thunder hammer/power fist points
Yeah, plenty of times you can end your train of thought with "...or I could just take a TH". And axes aren't such a wild option that a better one is too exciting.
>>
>>98881137
>So not melee, but you could still play them aggressive and forward, right?
Oh yea absolutely. Theres even some ranged units which are basically built for that (assault weapons basically fire twice per turn if you charge, so some volkite veterans do a LOT of damage. or veteran HSS who can volley fire heavy flamers).

>>98881137
>Though now that I think of it, only Tacticals and specifically HSS benefit from the DG trait, isn't it?
Anything with heavy (that isnt a tank), but those tend to be the shootier units. Its really good on siege terminators, since they want to waddle up the board while shooting anyways.
>>
>>98880117
I mean, 2-3 command and a high command, not much reason to not bring em even if I don't need to. But obviously the full chain of command isn't represented in game because even 5k games are too small to be really representative of the force, but it goes something like

>THE CHOSEN (Representatives of Erebus in the chapter, believes the gifts of chaos are to be kept close, not shared with the masses)
Lord Herod, the Tyrant (Saturnine Praetor)
--Arch Chaplain Ahab, the Vengeful One (Terminator Centurion)
----The Godbringers (Indomitus Terminators)
----The Trial by Fire (Tartaros Siege Squad)
----The Painkillers (Tartaros Command Squad)
--Iconoclast Cain, the Evening Star (Saturnine Centurion)
----The Weavers of Sorrow (Saturnine Terminators)
----The Crucible (Saturnine Terminators)
----The Redeemers of Souls (Saturnine Command Squad
--Coryphaus Zedekai, the Hellbent (Champion)
----The Witnesses of God (Veteran Tactical Squad)
----The Hell Patrol (Praetorian Command Squad)

THE FAITHFUL (Representatives of Kor Phaeron in the chapter, believe it's their duty to bear the word of the Dark God's through the galaxy)
Demagogue Judas, the Resin (Delegatus)
--Arch Sorcerer Balaam, the Demonizer (Librarian)
----The Saints in Hell (Gal Vorbak)
----The Angels of Retribution (Gal Vorbak)
--Sorcerer Kyaphas, Shepherd of the Pyre (Diabolist)
----The Blood Brothers (Despoiler Squadl
----The Powerslaves (Tactical Support Squad)
----Electric Eye (Rapier Battery)
--Sorcerer Balaam, the Deceiver (Diabolist)
----The Seventh Sons (Despoiler Squad)
----The Chains of Misery (Tactical Support Squad)
----Screaming for Vengeance (Rapier Battery)
--Falling Angel Haman, the Hellion (Master of Descent)
----Children of the Damned (Assault Squad)
----The Sons of Thunder (Ashen Circle)
----The Vicious Circle (Ashen Circle)

And that's not even including the independents, like the MoS' rising mini faction & dreads, or the loose cannon Phraetus Conclave
>>
>>98881150
Oh right siege termies. Eh it'd be nice if they could use power fists instead of having to use chainfists specifically. -1A is a price too high.

>>
>>98881224
>Eh it'd be nice if they could use power fists instead of having to use chainfists specifically. -1A is a price too high
It might be, but consider the folllowing: theyre an autocannon HSS that are terminators.

Theyre worse at melee than other terminators, but theyre still okay at it, and they shoot really hard.

>Tell me about /your dudes'/ chain of command
The overall army is led by Savek Rheeve "the valiant", who serves as praetor in my games and is the guy in charge. For his unorthodox (some say cowardly) methods he has been assigned a 1st company attaché led by Arbek Garathon (my terminator centurion) - nominally to assist him in battle but really to keep an eye on him and make sure he remains in line (and kill him if he looks like he isnt going to), this is where the terminator forces of my collection come in.

Then theres the main company and its various consuls and centurions, who are all nominally loyal to Savek Rheeve, and have in many cases an uneasy relationship with the first company delegation. The main players there are the likes of Cadremaster Sykor (a brutish centurion who sees himself as something of a company champion (hes paragon of battle in most games hes in) and leads the lower order grunts - such as terror squad - into battle).

So basically:

>overall command
Savek Rheeve "the valiant", master of the 13th company.

>13th company forces
-Cadremaster Sykor, Centurion and frequent right hand/champion of Savek Rheeve, dislikes Arbek Garathon (whom he sees as replacing him as the 2nd in command/for class conflict reasons)
-Various other consuls and centurions *
--Conventional formations within the company *
* not exhaustively named for space reasons.

>1st company forces
Arbek Garathon of the Atramentar
-Librarian Menethis, ally and confidant of Arbek Garathon
--The Bloody Hand, Contenkar terminators
--The Lords of Ruin, Atramentar flay-clade
>>
>>98881194
>full chain of command isn't represented in game because even 5k games are too small
Wew. My warband's chain of command is one Centurion, sole HQ of a poison ship ("Draught of Lethe"). Though I hadn't yet thought of squad names like you did.

Even the name of the chapter is the Solar Angels, who become the Sons of Judas by 40k when Judas betrays Herod during the scouring as he attempts for daemonhood and most of the Chosen die with him.

There isn't much of one. Everyone's united in purpose but command is generally held by popular figures (that's a pun, you see) that have gathered people around them or ad hoc groups that just stuck together around the couple of guys who had their head on straight.
At 3k I'd bring at least 5, probably 6.

Striking last won't matter when there's not even a squad left after the charge.

I have a question about the "uniform" styles in Horus Heresy. I fancy white black and white blue uniforms of late XVIIIth century Prussian military. So I was very happy to notice that one legion has a white with blue accented look. But does it break immersion, if a few elements of the armour were painted in red or light red ?
>>
>>98885317
Mauls are actually very good. The thing is that most weapons that go before mauls (I/I+1 weapons) dont hit very hard. All the hard hitting stuff goes after them (thunder hammers, power fists). So you will often be able to weather the initial damage and then hit back very hard.

There are exceptions of course (twin lightning claws), but those are somewhat rarer than either "no weapon" (chainswords count as "no weapon") or "slow weapon". And one of the primary functions of power weapon units is to bully chaff.
>>
>>98890020
Assuming you mean the World Eaters, it's explicitly canon, see pic related
>>
>>98890020

Legions are not uniform. Each one consists of hundreds of Companies, scattered across an entire galaxy. While they have a 'core' colour scheme, any group of marines might diverge from that as a result of role, honour markings, tactical necessity or simply circumstances. They might have been separated from their Legion homeworld for decades, over which time their Commanders have made any number of modifications.

> begin life as the XX Company
> shipped away from homeworld in Legion colours with generic Mechanicus gear
> fight a bloody campaign; armour now sports a red hand in memory of the fallen
> fight a campaign on a night world; armour now includes black elements
> fight a campaign where the Recon guys do something heroic; recon guys now wear all black

Rinse and repeat over 100 years and you can get away with anything.
>>
>>98890020
The legions do have "paint schemes", but theres a lot of flexibility within that. Company markings, squad markings and even individual heraldry can account for a lot of differences in terms of accent color, details, or even the "order" of the colors.
>>
>>98890147
>>98890150
Not to mention if you're playing traitor legion loyalists/loyalist legion traitors, you can easily justify an entirely new scheme because they're trying to avoid friendly fire.

Eg: For my loyalist SoH/WB shattered legion I have them in grey and black (plus some hints of green at the edges for the SoH) with the idea being they've stripped the paint from their armour and are relying primarily on their respective chapter badges for identification instead of the legion emblem (a variant of the old Lunar Wolves' wolf emblem for the SoH and a crown of thorns for the WB respectively)

>Maul = 2/3x(1/4x1/2+3/4x1/6)x1/2=0.167
>Axe = 1/2x(2/3x1/2+1/3x1/6)=0.194

>Tartaros = 9/36 (Axe) vs 7/36 (Maul) chance to deal an unsaved wound for each hit
>Maul = 2/3x(1/4x2/3+3/4x1/6)=0.194
>Axe = 1/2x(2/3x2/3+1/3x1/6)=0.25

>Marines = 24/36 (Axe) vs 30/36 (Maul) chance to deal an unsaved wound for each hit
>Maul = 5/6
>Axe = 2/3

So yeah, not much difference

I 100% understand this but i think we need to come to terms with the reality that HH is more then likely going to become a soft reboot of 40k.

We already see GW moving the story into the scouring. It is my suspicion that what is going to happen is GW is going to treat HH like they treat the old world, as system to bring back players who wanted the older system.

It is my prediction taht eventually we will see the setting enter into the scouring and the inclusion of older races/factions, while maintaining legions and legion rulesets while also bringing the ability to make chapters of "Your dudes" and you will see xeno races such as
Eldar, Crons, Nids(maybe), orks and Choas in general.

Alternatively, you could say something about how you like the new HH3 marine kits, maybe something like "xenos could be an interesting addition to the game", or perhaps just how you like to kitbash your models with bits you have lying around without caring about their specific providence.

>>
>>98892851
Basically rending, but no effect on vehicles and has to be a "legal" wound (so slightly worse rending).

>nerf to power mauls
Personally I dont think any power weapons are so good they need nerfs, at least compared to other weapons. Within the class? Power swords are the uniquely bad one, because theres basically never a situation you want them.
>>
>>98892858
i just meant a nerf to bring it inline with power swords, not cause its OP.

Are power axes the same? S +1 AP 2 go last on initiative, or am i misremembering?
>>
>>98892884
>Are power axes the same?
Bit different now.

S+1 I-1 breaching 5+ Ap3. So slightly worse Ap, but now go before thunder hammers and the like.

No, "on average if you roll six dice you will get a six at least once" is not the same as "I rolled 5 dice and did not get a six, and therefore the next roll is guaranteed to be a six". One is statistical truth, the other is a fallacy which assumes that past outcomes affect future outcomes, and that the probability goes up from 1/6 if you didnt get it long enough.
>>
>>98892945
I'm due that 6, though. All the other options are "spent"

Any tips for bending resin parts straight? (recast)
I tried soaking this particular sword in hot water straight out of a boiling pot but it doesn't seem to be enough to let it take on the new angle without springing back. Do I just need to go hotter? heat gun/hair dryer etc what do you use?
>>
>>98893058
I pour boiling water into a shotglass, with another tap-cold shotglass for cooling. I put the part of the piece that needs to bend the most into the hot water first, and then I gradually work the fittings.
Someone here said to glue one end into the appropriate spot first, which is decent advice, but depending on the exact piece angling it can become troublesome.
>>
>>98893070
Ok so I'm doing the same thing pretty much. I tried dipping the piece in hot water for like 30 seconds then bending it straight and cooling it in water that didn't work out, so I tried leaving it in hot for longer about 5 minutes and try again it didn't really make a difference. I'm starting to think this resin may be more resistant to heating than normal.

I was bending things with impunity within seconds of immersion. Either your water's temperature isn't up to snuff or you've got some other kind of resin..

you're using statistics like it's probability

it's not, you're just a fucking tard who keeps wringing tortured tautologies out to justify your misunderstanding of the basics of probability; the game isn't played with percentages of wounds, it's played with whole wounds - you either do or don't

as you said yourself you're not guaranteed shit; you could roll the same D6 fo a million years and never roll a 6 and it wouldn't mean there was anything wrong with that dice - just that it never rolled a 6

wouldn't affect the probability at all, or even the stats - except for that one interesting D6

get to the point where you're drunkenly weeping about your fucking perfect system outside the casino already and let the rest of us get on with our lives, mind palace
>>
>>98893208
I don't think you understand how unlikely it is to roll a die a million times and never rolling a 6. It's like at random picking a specific atom in the observable universe. 989 times in a row.

>>98893282
>roll a die a million times and never rolling a 6
It never changes from 1/6
>>
>>98893319
>It never changes from 1/6
Per any individual roll, yes. But it was specifically "the same D6". So, with each roll, the chance of not rolling a 6 diminishes.
>>
>>98893327
Anon...
>>
>>98893334

>>
>>98893440
Do explain the difference between rolling a million D6s and rolling a D6 a million times. Also, assume the million D6s are rolled one after another for good measure, rather than all in a big bucket. You know, for that 1/6 chance per roll.
>>
>>98893440
The math is different, but indeed what he said is "no way the probability of not being a single 6 in one million d6 dice rolls is 83%". I mean indeed that ain't so, for that's a combination.
But it's also true that the 6 IS due when you do take into account the previous rolls, even though it is still the same probability every time. It just isn't just probability alone anymore

What sort of tweaks would you make to the current unit profiles/wargear options, anons?

For me it's
>Sergeant Melee Weapon either replaces the main gun (bolter/special/heavy) or it is taken in addition to it, no difference in cost this is just for WYSIWYG
>Bayonets/Chain Bayonets are instead 'bayonet or combat knife' and 'chain bayonet or chainsword' and no longer require a specific gun to be taken
>The additional 5 guys in a TSS/HSS come stock with bolters and upgrading them all to have the same special/heavy as the first 5 guys is optional
>Despoilers and Assaults can all take combat shields in addition to their bolt pistol
>Any Despoiler/Assault can swap their chainsword for a chainaxe or their chainsword and combat shield for a heavy chainsword/heavy chainaxe

Saturnine ranged weapon options are expanded to also include the normal heavy weapons, of which they can take 1-3 options (bring the head gun back games, it was cool).

>3x Multi-Melta = 3x2/3x1/3x6=4 hull points
>6x Meltagun = 6x2/3x1/2x6=12 hull points

>Total = 24 hull points

Thats great! It doesent change the statistical average result. Your inability to interpret data doesent make the data less valid, it makes you a retarded pseud. A 1w weapon that does 0.7 wounds on average is the same as saying "70% of the time this does a wound".

>as you said yourself you're not guaranteed shit
Yea, no shit. The statistical average isnt guaranteed, breaking news! You can flip a coin a billion times and have it never come up heads, that doesent mean that the statistical average isnt 50% heads and 50% tails you dumb fuck (or 0.5 heads and 0.5 tails if you will).
Well, "real world" its less than that accounting for weird edge cases like the coin landing on its side or a passing bird stealing it, also weight distribution and shit, but in the abstract

>>98893465
The odds of not rolling a single 6 over a million rolls are infinitesimally small (0.83^1,000,000 small - put that into a calculator and you get 0). The odds of rolling a 6 on any single roll are always 16% and will never change from that.

>6 IS due
Nothing is ever "due". I don't know if it just your word choice or what the breakdown is here. The odds of not rolling a single six with one million rolls is small, but not zero. That alone means it is not "due", but instead more and more likely. Stop using that phrasing, because that is wrong.
>There hasn't been a six yet in this sequence, it is due
That is the gamblers fallacy, cold.
>>
>>98894868
Yes, the chance is never 100%, but given enough rolls, realistically, the 6 will come because the odds of it not happening become astronomical. And that's not a fallacy. Gambling on the chance that a die will not roll a 6 on a million rolls is. You have a higher chance of winning the lottery several times over than achieving that. Finding a D6 that doesn't roll a 6 in a million rolls would itself constitute as a lottery win. That would be an artifact worthy of scientific study to figure out why it is the way it is.

Firestorm only affects the model(s) that have the special rule, it's only the choosing not to commit to the charge part that afffects the entire unit.
>no volley with disordered charge
well yeah, that's why I won't charge my veteran support squad out of a Rhino
>>
>>98895702
The convo started with what to put in a land raider Achilles, which doesn't have an assault ramp
>>
>>98895702
>>98895821
Hmm, technically Achilles and Rhinos would be very useable to power armored melee units without assault guns with acceptable loss of efficiency.
Combat-shielded Veterans, Despoilers and Praetorian guards
>>
>>98895821
Oh. Well in that case, either a regular support squad or some form of melee veterans in power/artificer armour should do.
>>
would anyone really care if I used manticores as legion basilisks?

I just own two manticores is all, they would be appropriately painted etc for the legion
>>
>>98895994
People here seem to care if you use the wrong rivets, anon. But irl it'll probably be fine
>>
>>98895994
Ehh a game with painted models is a game with painted models.
>>
>>98895346
>but don't you need multiple to kill a single vehicle?
Sure, theyre only D2 I believe. But theyre also 100pts (so less than any vehicle short a rhino or the like) and they have shock, which means theyll cripple whatever they shoot at anyways most of the time.
>>
>>98896329
and they got firestorm and implacable advance, so double the firepower at close range
>>
>>98895994
Feel like Whirlwind would be a better fit. Just give it a pintle HB on the hull mount.
>>
>>98896402
yeah but the whirlwind already exists as a unit
>>
>>98895001
Link to said drama? Also, what does this mean in none-culture war bullshit speak?
>>

Smashed some custodes today. The state of the board when we called it (due to the custodes throwing in the towel) was one terminator on one wound, one jetbike on one wound, a tribune (full wounds) and a telemon (full wounds) as all that was left of the force. The score was 29 to 9 in my favor.

NL losses were a predator, a rhino, and a squad of seekers (also a couple of vet breachers (4), a rapier carrier, and a lone solar aux trooper).

Those new solar aux fateweaver cohort are exactly as broken as I expected them to be. Selective planet bowling ball

whoops, not sure why thats a reply.

And to preempt: yes, the state of the table was a bit dire. The mat wasnt quite 6x4 and the terrain is unpainted 3d print stuff. But I was trying a new place out and the terrain asides the location was pretty good, coze atmosphere, nice staff, bar, in a convenient part of town.

Hightlights of the game included a rhino surviving a double storm cannon telemon, a predator surviving two rounds of shooting from a calladius before my raptors beat it to death, and a predator surviving a round of shooting from some gyrfalcons while killing one on return fire with its heavy bolters (it then died in melee sadly).

And the Legion Basilisk doesn't?
>>
>>98895994
No, completely different guns.

https://bsky.app/profile/inquisitors.bsky.social

wikis are inherently community projects, like open source software.
So Inquisitor here is in charge, doesn't allow anyone else to make any creative decisions. Sure, Lexicanum is self hosted, which means he has to deal with all the backend bullshit himselves and pages very frequently don't load well, often dropping the style sheets alltogether and giving the raw DOM. Also splicing in too many ads, on top of collecting patreon money while contributors naturally receive nothing.
Eventually the community gets fed up with it and forks the wiki to a different place

>>98896508
the manticore doesnt is what i mean
>>
>>98896591
I'm a little confused why it'd be ok to field a Manticore as a Basilisk but not as a Whirlwind. At least both Manticore and Whirlwind are missile tanks, so the logic between the two is more sound than using big missiles as an artillery gun.

artillery gun and the legion basilisk kinda uses the chimera chassis as a frame

hence why I'm bringing up the legion basilisk and not say, the SA one (as thats a russ chassis)

oh my mistake lol

Do I paint my saturnine dreadnought next or my Solar Aux allied detachment?
>>
>>98895001
I'd be pretty pissed if my entire site was scraped by AI Jeets imo
>>
For the saturnine dreads shoulder pads, should I just do plain black, try and paint a ribcage pattern on them, or do some sort of red "screaming faces" thing?
>>
>>98897880
What legion?
>>
>>98897914
As you can tell by the dark blue. Space wolves.

Paint some runes or add some runes transfers, to ward off malificarum. Also where are the wolf tails?
>>
>>98899027
It really is to the point where I just need to buy one each of every single contemptor dread available just for my bits box. Recasts for less that $20 each def make it possible....

Forgive me for this blogpost but I found the story amusing enough to share.

My opponent yesterday is in a discord server with me (a local hobby group for organizing games and stuff), and I posted some of my atramentar flay-clade in there as I was doing them. His friend saw them and warned him "they have the lion shoulder pads, this guy knows what hes doing watch out".
>>
