Why are martislcucks the biggest most butthurt man babies ever? It's like they don't even want to play the class they are playing. They have a genuine persecution complex and seem to think it's some kind of virtue that they are playing a fighter, like they expect reparations for D&D 3e or something, even though that was a decade ago. They have got to be the biggest snowflakes ever, while trying to play the most masculine classes. What causes this?

Any rule that slows the game down without a fun gameplay benefit should be scrapped. Nobody thinks it's fun having to say that they're constantly donning and doffing their armour just so that the GM doesn't pull the game to a halt over it.
The game should incentivize having to remove it on occasion (eg, for stealth or fast overland travel, maybe) but it shouldn't be a chore, it should be a tactical decision. You are realismfagging not because "most fantasy characters don't wear their armour everywhere" but because you're making the game less fun to play with the reasoning being "in real life you need to remove your armour for comfort".
Do you roll dice to check if characters get rocks in their boots every thousand steps?

    Ask yourself this:
Is my call as the GM actually improving the game? Are these restrictions interesting or meaningful in the moment? Or am I acting as some divine bureaucrat, who can only let forms pass with every t crossed and every i dotted?

I know its easy to focus in on a vision that you've had from before the campaign, but did you make it clear to the players that this is what you wanted? Were they aware before the game started that you would be very particular with armor related encumbrance?

Does this same line of thinking about the practical realities of adventuring effect other classic adventuring archetypes? Are mages held back by their encumbrance? Do you count every torch lit and time them from the moment of lighting to the moment they go out? How much time is spent by characters on simple maintenance of their gear? Do you have swords rust in their sheathe if they fail to clean and oil them?

The great lament of my D&D CON-Barbarian is that she doesn't get to use Warhammer rules of protection counting both Armor and Toughness. 17 AC unarmored (+2 DEX/+5 CON) while sleeping isn't bad, but it's a little silly that Half-Plate gives the exact same number and you can use a shield with both. She's trained with the armor just like she's trained with the shield, why does the shield make her harder to hit but not the armor?
    >>
    >>98856572
Honestly it all very depends on what kind of game you're running and as always this is basically mainly a dnd problem because the issue is that a lot of people have very, very different views on what kind of thing they wanna play and at what powerlevel. You've got the sword and sorcery chud who wants to play a more down to earth pulpy fantasy and on the other side you've got people more influenced by depictions of insane supermen from comic books, anime, movies or video games boasting far more impressive feats. The flaw honestly is that more recent dnd editions will throw superhuman insane monsters at you at high levels to fight not through cleverness and with a macguffin and moving around a lot but just straight on from the front and try to gaslight you that the fighter is still just a "mundane" human trust. I don't even hate the concept of levels or gamist stuff or that you'd need magical items I just think the way it's done currently doesn't even pay lip service to the fiction.
    >>
Of course, completely mundane fighters can fight supernatural monsters head-on and win with no magic at all, thanks to the supreme power of the divine light of the human soul.

    >>98855142
In real life armor is layered and modular. If you were attacked suddenly you'd just don your most accessible armor pieces, probably your helmet, gauntlets, and chest piece. Depending on the era you might also sleep in your gambeson or reach for a shield. So this really shouldn't be a serious issue. You'd travel with your immediate defenses and don your entire kit for battle. Also, most D&D heroes don't care about this and can comfortably wear armor for longer than you or I can. Also also it only costs like 200 gold to add an enchantment to any suit of armor that makes it possible to don it as an action. If you as DM make a deal of this any reasonable party would just have the wizard set them up.

Also also also, I play monks.

    >Why tf would we have bots trying to make /tg/ of all places less interesting?
    Well, ya see...
You have the mentally-unstable sorts that end up with a grudge over perceived slights when regular anons react towards their fixations in a way they don't appreciate, and then decide to make specific boards their focus of online attrition, like the Indian guy who was caught shilling Solo Leveling on /a/, trying to make talking about fantasy shows like Dungeon Meshi or Frieren more difficult by street-shitting in any thread he could.
Then, you have the tumblr, reddit and discord raiders who were trolled back in the day and hate how 4chan has been close to the societal root of the internet despite the growth of more reputable social media, so their efforts are more geared towards astroturfing the board culture and establishing discussion in ways that reflect their own socio-political ideals as a way to get back at them for things that happened in 2009.
And finally, there's the /pol/ raiders composed of third-worlders, schitzophrenics and political extremists who convinced themselves that 4chan is a pillar of the noosphere that was able to elect Donald Trump as president, and that by taking control over the boards they will finally be able to buck American hegemony and establish a new multipolar, socialist world order. They actually believe this.
There's also the feds from every nation who have decided to waste their time by observing the site, but they've not been relevant ever since they tried to turn Pepe gay, for some reason.
    >what does this have to do with /tg/?
It doesn't. Each of them have their own separate haunts, but each one wants to shit up the entire site for their own insane and petty reason.

This just leads to Rope Trick abuse or in 5E Tiny Hut abuse.

    Hi Arianne

    How's the retirement going?

I agree. I doubt the GM will be a scrote and put a super-heavy surprise encounter when the party is with their pants down, anyway. At most it'll just be a few lower-level enemies just so people keep their wits about them.
Also no reason to believe they'll be attacked on a mundane situation like on a tavern, unless they have assassins hunting them or some shit.

    >Is my call as the GM actually improving the game?
    Yes
    >Are these restrictions interesting or meaningful in the moment?
    Yes
    >Or am I acting as some divine bureaucrat, who can only let forms pass with every t crossed and every i dotted?
    Yes
    >I know its easy to focus in on a vision that you've had from before the campaign, but did you make it clear to the players that this is what you wanted?
    Yes
    >Were they aware before the game started that you would be very particular with armor related encumbrance?
    Yes
    >Does this same line of thinking about the practical realities of adventuring effect other classic adventuring archetypes?
    Yes
    >Are mages held back by their encumbrance?
    Yes
    >Do you count every torch lit and time them from the moment of lighting to the moment they go out?
    Yes
    >How much time is spent by characters on simple maintenance of their gear?
    Enough
    >Do you have swords rust in their sheathe if they fail to clean and oil them?
    Depends

This is really just a 5e problem to be honest.
Mithril armor counts as one category lighter than its base category on top of being way lighter and having higher dex bonus cap, so 90% of the time you could just wear a mithril breastplate for better protection than regular full-plate which let you keep your 30 feet of movement (extremely important for most characters) instead of being stuck at 20 in heavy armor's movement penalty, and the Armor Check Penalty is only -1 instead of -6 so you have basically zero issue sneaking and swimming and climbing etc. in it, and of course it can be worn like regular clothing 24/7 so your murderhobo ass only needs to take it off when bathing.

In 5e there's basically no player-facing gear economy whatsoever and special materials largely don't exist outside of magic items, you can't just pay to have a non-magical mundane set of masterwork mithril armor (or for the Druid who can't wear metal, get Dragon hide or Ironwood armor instead) and armor has been heavily shrimplified so there's strictly better upgrades without trade-offs in armor check penalty, dex bonus, and movement penalties so even a dexfag archer fighter is taxed 1500 go to wear full plate as his only option

Exactly this. Also completely removed the point of a nighttime ambush against the party. And you can still wear padded armor. In fact I buff it to be as good as leather in my games.

    >HE TRAINED HIMSELF TO BE ABLE TO SLEEP IN ARMOUR
I've played systems that actually do have this as a character building option. Seems weird that 5e doesn't.
    >>
    >>98904777
I know its hard for people here to imagine but when you are physically fit you can sleep in any circumstances. Sleeping in armor is a comically trivial thing for anyone who isn't diabetic.

    >Seems weird that 5e doesn't.
it doesn't specify whether or not you can wear armor while resting
if your GM fucked you on that, it was entirely his whim/assumption
