Grr.>>98789940>Crane and ScorpionWhile I wasn't there, I got the DISTINCT impression just from how storylines played out that Crane-as-written and Crane-as-played were heavily at odds. Shame they didn't lean harder into Crane getting its shit together and properly militarising instead of just throwing out the civil war and sweeping it under the rug, theoretically you could say some pretty interesting things about the realities of power through the Daidoji but they're just kind of...there. Distracting from the fact that the writers don't seem to know what to do with the Crane during times of conflict other than humiliate them. The founding Kakita must be unspeakably disappointed they forgot how to use duelling as anything other than a social bullying technique. And yet, they still have it better with the Scorpion. Someone REALLY enjoyed writing the tragic ninja angle with them. If the Daidoji are proof that the Scorpion were a pointless exercise even before Bayushi did it with an eldritch horror, and Hantei's biggest mistake while founding the empire was setting the clan up to fail, then the Tortoise are everything the Scorpion SHOUD have been. And that's just depressing, but it's also the truth. A crass, shitty little minor clan that makes its name off cavorting with gaijin and answers exclusively to the Emperor himself is BY DEFINITION better at covert ops than a Great Clan because it's more easily overlooked. Well, that and probably even primordial darkness entities feel like they're slumming it just hanging out with the Tortoise....maybe it's kind of a mercy that the Monkey quickly became irrelevant, at least the Mantis didn't snap them up too.>run crying to the EmperorThat plus marrying the Emperor. Clearly the designated Imperial wife is picked from the girl who is best at crying on men's shoulders.
>>98791859Lets be honest, letting the meta plot be determined by game results was a terrible decision. Yes it produced some cool things. Yes it was probably incredibly hype if you were there. But holy shit did it make a mess of things sometimes. Also, hot take, they probably should have ended things as originally promised before things escalated like it was a shonen manga. Okay, so I have started to go through the jump and I have a few questions. First. Skills of Rokugan. I sort of get where you are coming from here. There are various things a samurai should be competent in and this lets you pick up relevant skills. It's just odd to me that you give the example of Kenjutsu, and then we turn around and a little further down have the section where you have Bushi on offer. Putting a few hundred into Bushi to be competent in the relevant school for your family would logically involve having skill with Kenjutsu in most cases. So why would I ever put points into Kenjutsu in Skills of Rokugan? Speaking of lets say I was trying to make a Matsu Berserker. Why would I buy ranks in the MB Bushi school or Skills for Bukijutsu if I can just take Matsu's Fury? It explicitly lets me master fighting techniques. So if I am making a Matsu Berserker do I just take Matsu's Fury? Do I still buy Bushi? If I buy Bushi do I still need SoR for Kenjutsu? I'm not sure if I am just not getting something or if there are a lot of overlaps between different purchase options. Related note Grinning Crane Takes Flight = prodigy at everything. Why buy any general perks for skills and schools? I know that if I was building as intended I should take some skills, and a school, and some clan perks, but it feels like some invalidate or at the least devalue others. 1/2
>>98793155Second. Did we really need the 1e Kakita Artisan perk? I mean being fair you're giving all the clans their wank for their capstone perks, but damn. 1e Kakita Artisans...holy shit. Third, some families kinda just seem to have gotten the shaft. I don't see anything for Hiruma, Shiba, Yogo, or Ikoma for example. It kinda feels like all the clans got sanded down to their most obvious or stereotypical elements and some of the other facets of their identity got left out. That or some things just aren't as interesting to make perks for. Which I can understand. It just doesn't feel like everything is as represented as I would prefer.Fourth. I understand that skreeds are kind of normal for you but I won't lie, as entertaining as I find them I do wonder if they are entirely necessary. The entire Mirumoto Hitomi perk is uh, and experience. I understand why it is there. I don't even disagree with it really. It's just kind of takes me out of it a bit. 2/2More thoughts to come as I keep reading and try making some builds. I think I will start with a build for each of the clans.
You get a chain, but you have to post your first build and then go to sleep.

How goes Immortal Handbooks, Shard? You said it wouldn't be as hard as Lo5R, so is it more the work of a week? Or less?
>>98794277I start on it tomorrow officially, but I wrote up the intro, basic companion and ending options today. I THOUGHT I'd end my jumpathon on the hardest one yet, but a combination of the material being easier to parse and L5R being way, way, way harder than I expected means I'm optimistic I'll be done by the middle of next week at the latest. Really the hardest part is probably going to be deciding how autistically I should explain D&D magic in the notes. For whatever reason most D&D jumps do not get into the nitty-gritty of how magic works, how much gold a given spell costs etc so I'm edging towards following tradition for my own sake.>>98794008Daigotsu stans look like this and sound like this. Out of universe too, probably.>>98793155It was...certainly an /experience/, slowly learning the game was a LOT different from the gritty Kurosawa-like experience I was sold on it as way back in the day.As for your questions, before I address them individually: In general, things are the way they are because I tried to strike a balance between the system, lore and assumptions of L5R, and the format of Jumpchain. The result has been controversial to some, among other things it means the jump is long and rambly, despite my best efforts to compress 1000+ pages' worth of 4e Imperial Histories, Great Clans, corebook and element book into a non-professionally published PDF. But it's what I ended up with.>Skills of RokuganSo to be clear, it's assumed if you go Bushi you have the appropriate levels of kenjutsu/iaijutsu/whatever is appropriate for that level of mastery. It is a little awkward but I mainly put Kenjutsu in there to affirm the idea it CAN be additive if you're willing to invest so much in "mundane" sword skills instead of sekrit family techniques. You're right, if you wanted to be a Matsu Berserker you just buy the Matsu school in Bushi (or be a strong independent Lion man with a coincidentally similar tradition). (Cont'd)
>>98794489WE'LL FIGHT FOR THE SPIDER. WE'LL HONOR HIS NAME.
>>98793155You take Matsu's Fury if you want to be a Super Matsu, and you do not need SoR. It is a little awkward and in hindsight I should've used the non-fighty examples, but SoR really exists as a stopgap in case someone wants to be good at Lore: Theology, or Etiquette, or Calligraphy. The latter are among Daigotsu's weakest skills, which is to say he is merely a consummate professional at them rather than a living legend. >Grinning Crane Takes FlightBecause the perk alone scales you to Doji Satsume, and you can buy normal skills to go even further beyond.>1e Kakita Artisan perkWell see.4e acknowledged it as FULLY canon, whereas it tried to hem-haw about the Infinity Stone that Naseru found. And let's face it. That incident was the single greatest military AND artistic accomplishment carried out principally by a SINGLE crane since the day of Kakita himself duelling and wooing for the hand of Lady Doji.So yeah. Unfortunately yeah, I have to dig deep into the lore (and 4e is right there with me in the muck) to give the Crane things to do other than duel and cry to the emperor.>some familiesYeah I'm not wholly comfortable with how it turned out, but it's like this: I feel if I did triple perklines for all the clans to aura farm for everyone, differing clan capabilities and past performance would mean eventually I would have to start padding out certain families with meta perks like "you are a scorpion whose loyalties won't get screwed by the plot" which I feel would quickly run into other problems. Like jump bloat, which was already a complaint. As such I felt it was necessary to prioritise what the clans lionised (no pun intended, Lion) rather than go out of my way to upsell absolutely everyone. Which unfortunately, means some people got left behind by the Great Narrative Filter.(Cont'd)
>>98793155The Hiruma are skirmishers for a clan most known for their heavy armour, witch hunting and siege tactics, which leaves them with the awkward option of "you can reclaim Shadowland-tainted places through sheer yamato damaishi" which I think we can both agree is an unacceptable level of Crab wank. The Shiba family have the even more humiliating role of being the warrior caste for a pacifistic, ascetic, scholastic clan of super wizards. Yes, yes, their polearm technique is very pretty, but their competition is THE CRAB and THE LION. And I think many Jumpers would take "Shiba has chosen you as his current vessel" as a funny drawback rather than a perk. The Yogo are drawback lev-oh wait I did put something for them, Yogo's Wards, in the Scorpion section. Probably out of pity. And to finalise my "I'm turning the strengths of the clans into perks and ignoring weirdo outliers, in accordance with notoriously conservative Rokugan values" approach, the Ikoma are a clan of longwinded storytellers founded by a womanising, hard-drinking braggart. I ACCEPT they are very good at their job, by the Lion's standards of good. The problem is /the Lion are consistently one of the weaker clans when it comes to politics/, because Emperors have shit taste and do not desire powerful Matsu wives.BUT uh, yeah. Unfortunately your suspicions are kind of correct, but like I said I just feel like the jump would go on forever if I REALLY TRIED to represent EVERYONE and I don't think anyone is volunteering to make more L5R jumps like there are Warhammer jumps(Cont'd)
>>98793161>Fourth. This is completely understandable, and to be clear I /try/ to stay relatively professional when not as triggered by things like trying to quantify Hitomi having her destiny rigged for redemption out of universe or Daigotsu Privilege. It's just that. How should I put this.I tried to mentally visualise like, 4-5 different ways of wording a perk that amounts to "You are very lucky and can fight well enough to cause surprise upsets, like Hitomi". Then I tried to imagine a casual conversation with someone who has never heard of L5R, to see if I could convince them they could even attempt half the shit she did. Starting form age 10. Just like the Naruto quote is there to emphasise how thoroughly Daigotsu has fucked the themes of the setting, I mostly put Hitomi's summarised biography in there so people understand what's on the table and I'm genuinely worried anything less won't quite get the message across.Happy buildmaking!>>98794492They unironically did. The evil clan of madmen and twisted degenerates really did honor his name.A husband, a father, his family held nearA home built on Shourido, on faith without fearThe world tried to silence, but his voice remainsIn the Spider it echoes, in Jigoku it sustains
>>98794489So about those Super Liches in Immortal Handbook, what's their deal? What can they do beside travel across Planes? And are there any OP Illithids?
>>98794536The Akalich is what happens when even the bone on a lich turns to dust. All that's left is captured immortal spirits and some mystic gems as eyes and teeth, and a spiritual presence of super light-devouring nogoodnik bad vibes. They are assumed to have automatica metamagic capacity, Epic Spell Penetration, Epic Spellcasting, Ignore Material Components, Metamagic Freed-look, they mog Vecna when Vecna doesn't have the backing of the writers to give him an asspull. The example is a mortal named Nimrod who was making the IH version of the Tower of Babel to conquer the gods, blasted almost to nothingness by them yet sustained by his sheer wrath. Oh, and he has spell-like abilities, can give himself the benefits of all magical items kept in 41 feet of him (very specific) and can use the spirits of true immortals trapped in himself to resurrect himself. Because even the phylacteries of akaliches have crumbled away, so they have to use theophagy instead.
>>98794489>very different from the gritty experience I was soldThe metaplot and card game yeah. Any given table could be gritty and heavily inspired by Kurosawa and Jidaigeki films in general. Most games I played were, especially since things mostly stuck to low level play. But the overall universe and meta plot at the highest levels? Yeah it went full retard. The non stop escalation post fu-leng really ruined things. I understand the difficulty of striking a balance between the game and jumpchain. It’s why none of my attempts to make an l5r jump got anywhere. Was never happy with it. Kudos to you for doing it, nitpicks aside I am grateful we have a jump for it. I always figured if I was gonna do it I’d have to do a separate jump for each clan in order to represent everything properly, and holy shit that just isn’t feasible. Anyway builds to come through out the day. Side note, was your build posted on the bunker? I was always very curious what you would do in Rokugan and contemplated it every time I made my abortive attempts at jumpmaking.
>>98794820Thanks! In an ideal world we'd have as much enthusiasm for L5R as for Warhammer, and people willing to parse the increasingly unhinged metaplot with the nominal intended experience of the game to meet somewhere halfway but...well, from what I can tell the fandom was kind of divisive around the time Jumpchain was taking off to the point where an L5R jump would come under consideration (remember when the idea of a Mortal Kombat jump was divisive because of vaguely similar lore vs gameplay/game event powerlevels? Remember when someone posted one that was deemed too CYOA-like? Pepperidge Farm remembers), and I guess it just petered out even before the west started to crack down on "orientalism".>Side note, was your build posted on the bunker? Oh no, I haven't posted builds for any of my new jumps yet. Because the new jumps are laying the path for a new chain through which my old Jumper will escape the succbox
>>98794882>SpoilerLooking forward to it then. One more side note. You put in references to Shouting Matsu and the Horse Sepukku thread but no reference to Ishigaki and co? The greatest l5r greentext of all time? For shame. Commit seppuku immediately. Alright first build. Feel free to tell me if I goofed somewhere. Let’s kick it off with my third favorite clan Crane. Daidoji Spymaster buildOrigin: CranePerks:Bland 0Daredevil 0Wary 0Crab Hands 0Strength of Earth 0Quick 0Bushi 300Advanced School (200) 0Iron Crane 200Gaijin Pepper 200Soahuro’s Theatrics 200Gear:Gear of War 0Gaijin Gear (black powder) 0Gifts of the Road 50Gifts of Court 50Pretty simple build. Time to bomb shit and spy for the sake of my “pacifist” overlords. Overall I think it’s a solid set up. Yeah it will never scratch the peaks of the setting but that really isn’t what I was going for here. It’s a good setup for being one of the Daidoji’s best agents for dealing with the more day to day shit. Probably spend the whole jump dueling scorpions in the shadows and thwarting matsu aggression and I feel confident a jump 1 jumper could fulfill those duties with this build.
>>98795019The schools in question being Daidoji scout for the levels in Bushi and taking Daidoji spymaster as an advanced school of course. Forgot to mention that in the build proper. Probably my only concern with this build is my lack of refinement and talky skills might get me killed if I have to interact with the wrong courtiers. Might be worth looking at some drawbacks to pick up a few ranks of Skills of Rokugan. Going full one dimensional warrior man is always a terrible idea in the rpg I should keep that in mind here even if jumpchain as a format does reward min maxing.
Bumping so we don't fall off the board.
>>98791537Np, another question, and sorry if it sounds obvious, but I want to make sure I'm not cheesing anything too much, when you refer in the jump to "class level" are you excluding racial hit dice?

I will be a responsible Host and not feed her exclusively hentai. Might do more builds for this, I don't know.>>98796202Racial class levels and Hit Dice do not interact with the Class Level option in any way. Even if you stack Class Level with whichever racial option you take, the prices are handled separately. Challenge Rating 10 and Class Level 10 would each separately cost 450CP even if you took a Class Level that stacks with your Race. Races that have additional Hit Dice traditionally have their Challenge Rating go up because of the adjustment just when referring to whichever Favored Class they have, but that's handled as part of their race. Handle the options separately.
>>98796338Thank you for the answer, this is very interesting. Also not to aggravate you, but was rereading deities and demigods, and there it's stated that clerics can get spells from their dedication to a cause without needing the intercession of a god, are you sure it was only added after 3.5?
>>987964183e/3.5 Forgotten Realms is one of the only settings that does it. Even Archivists, Druids, and Ur-Priests still get their spells from a god or gods. There's contradictory information, but this is how it works. It's like how 3.5 Forgotten Realms uses the World Tree cosmology because they were trying to differentiate it from Planescape, but they're functionally the same cosmological models. Even that has contradictory sources.
>>98796562Fair enough and good to know.By the same token I should understand that I should ignore the ELH about sinergy boni increasing over 20, as you put it as part of the demigod perk? Standard Skills already have bonuses for how many points you have in them, and usually it's you get +2 for having 5 points in a Skill. Skill Synergy just works differently for Gods.>could you tell me where did it happen? The Simbul did it by consuming a large amount of magic. It's transitional lore between 3.5 to 4e. Weaveghosts, a similar thing, is much older lore. In Dead Magic zones, one of the ways to get around not being able to cast magic is to consume the power stored in magic items. This is one of those lore things and not something that's addressed by the tabletop. The Simbul had to do this after Mystra died because magic being fractured literally drove The Simbul insane. Elminster and a number of the Seven Sisters went around collecting magic items to feed to her. A number of the Seven Sisters have unique or semi-unique abilities related to magic. It's just that what The Simbul did shouldn't functionally be unique to her. Elminster previously held a significant part of the Weave within himself in one of the books to similar effect, IIRC.
>>98796678>usually it's you get +2 for having 5 points in a Skill. >>98795019>>98795040Yep looks fine to me, and there we go: SoR working as intended.
>>98796811There's just too many options to stay male. I've done the greater-than-average value male thing, and it ain't fucking worth it. I'm making valid excuses, but the fact is I just want to be my own brand of hedonist. I'd probably have to stay relatively tall though, I don't think I could mentally handle being short. All roads lead to becoming a biological robot tentacle horror, anyways.>>98796881The House of D welcomes all. Even if you're male, female, Human, or normal.
>>98791859Please reduce the minimum age in the L5R jump to at least 13 if not lower, because A) it's canon (typical age for gempukku is 14, but Rokugani practice is to count age from 1, not 0, so a "14 year old" is 13) and B) shota samurai!!!!!Thank you for your consideration.
>>98798090Two new questions: I don't remember if you can stack stuff like DMM and the perk metamagic manipulation.also does the limit on divine spellcasting coming from gods is true for outsiders with innate spellcasting too, or are they deific enough to have it by themselves, considering their worship afaik doesn't feed gods anyway like mortals do?
>>98796338>Evelyn_"Eve"_Grimm_MooreRealistically, I'm calling this companion Book because I'm an asshole, but I missed the pun>Evelyn "Evel" Grimm Moore.Losing my touch. I am very tired, I don't know if there's a definitive answer about Improved Metamagic, and I'm not looking into it further this morning / night. Tentatively, yes, Metamagic Manipulation works on DDM.In either case of Spell-Like Abilities or Innate Spellcasting, it's complicated, but they're generally cast under their own power. Just because an Arcane or Divine or otherwise spell or power is listed as a Spell-Like Ability for an example, doesn't necessarily mean it's even Arcane or Divine.
>>98799319Sorry for tiring you and thanks for the answer. When you wake up, I guess in character creation for this jump you can't take stuff which would require the agreement of the DM, like spellfire or exalted feats.
>>98799480I don't sleep. I wouldn't have made the distinction between Silver and Spellfire if I would just let you take Spellfire. Don't ask me stupid questions about shit not offered in the Jump.
>>98799522Eh, while spellfire is really strong there are various options someone could want to take more balanced but that require master agreement.Anyway sorry for your insomnia.I'm still wondering on wether to go for the more optimized route (being a planetar) or a more flavorfoul one, as I dislike being just a random big angel that does big angel thing.
>>98798936You know it's funny, I'm almost certain that's a holdover when I was initially making the jump as I'd vaguely remembered it: A hardcore, gritty, mostly-realistic game about consequences and gut wounds actually mattering. I remembered thinking that yeah, life is set on Asian difficulty, and maybe minimum gempukku graduation service date is a little harsh. This was obviously, of course, before I read up on Daigotsu and learned that I was fucking wrong, that L5R is a western xianxia, and that anything is possible if you believe in your friends who believe in you. Anyway yeah sure, you can now be a little 13 year old Bushi.
Oh yeah and before I forget, for the -1 people who care about Old Gods of Appalachia, we finally got to the part where Miss Lavinia shreds her dumbass groom. Nothing is made clear. We don't know what's going on. He cut her up in a fit of imagined NTR rage while pushed by the evil Inner Dark entity house spirit thing, which went real quiet right before she started her revenge killing spree and she just kind of came back as an SCP. Nothing will be clear until the next episode, and nobody cares except I who am relieved I will NOT have to offer any kind of spooky house item.
>>98791054I agree with you on the talent thing. It like mythology where a normal person does not simply have the talent to be Lancelot, Beowulf. It something I think a lot of learning boosters leave out. They say you learn faster, but never say you got any real potential. If someone wants to be a level 40, they need to get a uncapped or some kind of talent booster like Naruto true genius.>>98791079I am that person. But I am not asking for anything in the jump. I have not even read the jump. I am defending the decision to assume their a limit to jumper talent.>>98796338Glad to see we are not dealing with that la balance nightmare.
>>98800808>They say you learn faster, but never say you got any real potentialPotential is interpreted as simply learning faster in this context. It's a similar case with Skyrim's Silmarillion jump where some people bitched that the Elf capstone doesn't make you equal to Feanor because it doesn't explicitly say you learn faster than normal or that it uncaps you, simply that you have the motivation to keep getting gud when anyone else would've taken breaks (which is what Feanor's excellence is attributed to).
>>98794037I am revising my build. I want to be a mythological Blue Blood / Human+ instead of a Greater Devil. I'm losing some utility, but in future worlds I can keep my Human-looking appearance and so I'll get more use out of that race instead. Works better with Grimoire. >>98800808>I am defending the decision to assume their a limit to jumper talent.I was mad and people have not been good at saying what they mean of late.
>>98801379Just to be sure, in DND is there any point in bumping a stat in the point buy section up if my jumper is already higher than it because of an outside source like body mod or a perk?
>>9880274418 is generally considered the upper limit for Humans and 10 the average. Using the Point Buy, it starts at 8. If you start with less than 10, I would say you're making yourself less capable than whatever you chose for Body Mod. If you start with at least 10, assume Body Mod applies to your race without penalties. IRL stats to D&D are not 1-to-1. Quicksilver's BD applies relatively to your race, so assumably does NuBee's

Chainbutt you can only take Digimon as companions. What does your lineup look like?
>>98805743>What does your lineup look like?Dunno, but given the way digimon work, there's a bunch of questions to ask...>what stage is considered the default?>does the companion have to be a digimon by default, or can they be another type of being so long as their kit's focused around being a digimon like the one set of tamers that becomes their 'mon?>if you use digimon jump stuff to turn another creature into an OC digimon, can you companion them?

>>98805743What >>98807062 said pretty much. Also I noticed otakumick's FR jump lets you play nonstandard races based on CR, naturally I want to abuse the fuck out of it by playing under CRed things like the adamantite horror. Problem: part of the fun of playing an adamantite horror is having an army of lesser robo minions but the adamantite horror gets no special power over them or ability to make them. And as a hegemonizing robot swarm, being the Affirmer of Phenomena from the Cereza and the Lost Demon chain seems like it has a much higher power ceiling overall. What I'm trying to ask is, should I bother or do something else?
Is the pokemon jump still considered the best starting jump? What if you're doing a self-insert chain?
>>98817701I started with the Pokemon Jump myself, but first generic jump is good. It gives you a lot of body mod abilities (i.e. they follow you through power lockouts and the like) and functions well as a "training course" by Jump-chan.Speaking of jump-chan, how often do you have her speak to your Jumpers?
>>98811108Where's the KOC jump from?
>>98817701I mean, it's not a bad starting jump. Though I'm pretty sure the consensus now is that Quest for Glory is the best starting jump.

Problem: part of the fun of playing an adamantite horror is having an army of lesser robo minions but the adamantite horror gets no special power over them or ability to make them.Dragon Magazine 350 actually elaborates on Clockwork Horrors and they can actually make more Clockwork Horrors, by consuming 200 pounds of iron and 100 pounds of the relevant precious metals, in addition to a gemstone worth at least 100GP, during a process that takes 3 days, though each needs to be activated by the Adamantine Horror with a full round action. It would take a while but once you got a while of building yourself, but you can eventually outsource all the building on Platinum and Gold Clockwork Horrors with you only needing to handle the activation part.>What I'm trying to ask is, should I bother or do something else?I dunno, I think its a cool idea, while the inherent power isnt all that great in the grand scheme of things, the Forgotten Realms do have a lot of cool stuff on offer that your swarm could help you get.

So, Shard, what's going to be the hard part of the Immortal Handbook jump? The perk? The items?
>>98817715Cruelspaceanon made it, it's on the exalted folder.
>>98801379Hey DDanon, random question, but does the skill monkey perk do anything for an exemplar?
>>98819191nta, but looking at it the only thing would be that it gives you as many skills even when you take levels in something other than Exemplar/Savant/Factotum, so like if you took the chameleon perk in the origin you'd still have 5 levels worth of max skills.
>>98818518I'm recovering from a coof. Not THE coof, a coof. Right now, the hardest part is staying awake at work and focused enough to actually write instead of wistfully dithering on anything other than the morbid contemplation of how much lungs are full of slimy dead things. Managed to write most of the first of 3 origin sections, though.
>>98819581I hope it didn't ruin all of your weekend. Take care of yourself. At least you didn't get sick at a job where if you don't get results, you're fired.
>>98819649It more or less did, actually. It's both a blessing and a curse my powerful immune system was most of the way through to fighting it off by the time it was work hours again. And yeah, landing a job so sedentary I could probably decompose at it without raising alarm as long as my zombified corpse clocked in and out sure is useful in times when my focus for jumpmaking is compromised.
>>98817701It's not that it's the best from any objective standpoint, it's just one of the easier ones to work with since the jump isn't too mechanically complex and the world is only but so dangerous. I'd say most low-end settings with minor supernatural elements could do just as well for a first jump in terms of shaking anon out of their initial head space while not just throwing them in a blender at the deep end to see what happens. Even just a normal slice of life setting with a cast that has unnatural hair/eye colors might be enough if you want to waste a vacation opportunity for the possible shock value.
>>98820226>I'd say most low-end settings with minor supernatural elements could do just as well for a first jump in terms of shaking anon out of their initial head space while not just throwing them in a blender at the deep end to see what happens.Pokemon could still be considered "better" than those because you get adventure and supernatural stuff but you retain access to modern culture/amenities, the lack of which would be another significant concern for an early jumper to deal with.

you think going all out on skills in DnD is worth it or would it being actually in setting rather than a game dampen their effec too much?I kinda got the idea for a Paragon Chanegling Rogue/Savant/Chameleon, which means I can basically guarantee a 40-50 on all skills that matter.which would be utterly broken in a game, but hard to imagine how this would actually manifest.
>>98822173I would say as long as you don't expect diplomancy or similarly silly things it should work, you would be supernaturally competent in everything.
>>98820757How do you think the 9 spell-like abilities of the chosen of mystra work?
>>98822209>Chosen gain one bonus spell of each spell level 1st through 9th per day, which can be used as a Spell-like ability. Chosen are immune to one spell of each spell level 1st through 9th, just as if the Spell Immunity spell were cast upon them. Once these two sets of nine spells are selected, they can never be change>Bonus Spells (Sp) A Chosen gains one bonus spell of each spell level 1st through 9th per day, which can be used as a spell-like ability. Once these nine spells are selected, they can never be changed. Most Chosen select a variety of offensive, defensive, and utility spells with this ability. You can gain access to bonus spells you might not necessarily be able to use in D&D, but because they can be cast as a Spell-Like Ability, you can still cast them as Spell-Like Abilities under your own power even if you're not the level to cast then traditionally.
>>98822206I mean I dont expect Diplomacy to be able to turn an enemy into an ally in a single round action(less than 6 seconds), but I would expect someone supernaturally skilled at it to still be able to regularly talk his way out of danger or deceive enemies into acting in ways beneficial to him.
>>98823118>Action>Changing others’ attitudes with Diplomacy generally takes at least 1 full minute (10 consecutive full-round actions). In some situations, this time requirement may greatly increase. A rushed Diplomacy check can be made as a full-round action, but you take a -10 penalty on the check. It's harder to do it than people make it out to be, but as you pointed out we're dealing with a literally supernatural, by our standards, level of skill. The Book of Erotic Fantasy makes it easier though, because you can reasonably suggest your Diplomacy use under the Appearance score is on sight and relatively intuitive.
>>98823168I should note that as a Changeling Rogue my jumper(if I choose to go with that build) can take a 10 on rushed Social Skills.>Social Intuition (Ex): A changeling rogue has an uncanny awareness of the tone of any social situation in which he finds himself. This grants benefits to a number of his skill checks. >Making a Gather Information check to gain knowledge takes a changeling rogue only 1d4+1 × 10 minutes, instead of the normal 1d4+1 hours.>A gut assessment of a social situation with a Sense Motive check can be made as a full round action instead of taking a full minute. >A changeling rogue can take 10 on Bluff, Diplomacy, Gather Information, Intimidate, and Sense Motive checks, even if stress or distraction would normally prevent him from doing so.>This substitution feature replaces the standard rogue's trapfinding ability. A changeling rogue without trapfinding can still use the Search skill to find a trap whose DC is 20 or lower, and can still disarm mundane (but not magic) traps with Disable Device, just as any other character without trapfinding.
>>98822839Thank you for the answer, this will let me qualify for prestige ranger.
>>98823118Oh, of course, just was saying the most ridiculous abuses, like convincing the epic lich to gift you his phylactery, probably should be ignored, you being skilled at it sweet talking enemies is a given.
Good news: The coof fades rapidly, and I finished up origins. Bad news: Sudden bouts of exhaustion and headache come and go so unpredictably I am legitimately unsure how much progress I'll be able to make on Immortals Handbook tomorrow. Could finish the perks section. Could also nearly blank out in the middle of doing something else. Having to forgo coffee because warm hydration is important has been rough, as if the actual coof wasn't bad enough. But the practical part is, I am legitimately unsure if the jump will be done by the end of this week or tomorrow.>>98820522Look, it was basically a bigger and meaner version of that werewolf that fucked with Doc, and Miss Lavinia seemingly hoovered it up or became its new agent or SOMETHING because it stopped returning her betrothed's calls. It's washed. It's done. And it was nothing but trouble and empty promises up to that moment.
Obligatory 9th Page bump.
Why are SB Jumpers discount cultivation protags?
>>98829031Because the only real difference between a jumper and a cultivation protagonist is that a jumper's powers don't suddenly become fodder every new jump. Otherwise they're pretty similar.I guess cultivation protagonists get *slightly* more handouts
>>98829041Not even, cultivation protagonists can't hold a candle compared to Jumpers when it comes to handouts. The entire premise of Jumpchain is free handouts just for showing up and unlimited power without convoluted power systems like cultivation.
>>98829084In general, yes, but it's also dependent on the specific jump(s) and chain. There are several like Irregular at Magic Highschool where you can't replicate the protagonist's "build" even if you had 2000 CP. Also, a lot of jumps don't give you upfront power, and it's possible to "waste" your CP on weak/meme options like repeatable-purchase fluffy hair, infinite food items, or bachelor's degrees.
>>98829084There is the fact that you need to survive for 10 years in each jump, which isn't really hard for most settings.
>>98829097Original anon was talking about SB jumps which doesn't have those limits in mind though.
>>98822839Effectively what do you think about optional unhearted arcana content, like prestige base classes and flaws?

How is it going Shard? Have you recovered? Also, did you know there is an Old Gods of Appalachia RPG?
>>98835346>(Either a Firre or a Ursinal, Ursinal is slightly better, but I don't want to be a bear).Nta, but maybe consider going Couatl, they're 9th level sorcerers capable of casting spells from both the Sorcerer/Wizard and the Cleric list.Their casting is slightly weaker, but they are still pretty good. They also have some nice abilities like being able turn into humanoid form, turn invisible, turn ethereal, read minds and plan shift at will, the last is especially neat since you can use it offensively, like just send your enemies to the positive energy plane and watch them explode. They also got pretty valuable poison, scales and feathers which you can sell or use as catalysts for magic

>>98836088>I get it, they're pretty niceThey really are, starmantle too is a great defense, and as I mentioned in the past I really plan to use sanctify the wicked, on powerful fiends and archfiends, or even making a magic item to use it more liberally. It also ruined my attempt to make an initiator dual wielder of bastard swords, as favored soul is spontaneous (was trying to make a convoluted hybrid with archanamac/sublime chord exalted arcanist but realized I'm not good enough to be an exalted arcanist, and the whole thing was dumb).>Personally If I wanted to do that I'd probaby just try to train Chamelon to Epic levels. That's the sane option, I make this dumb hybrid thing in part for the challenge (it's not like it's an effectively good build, and it doesn't actually use all systems as it isn't a truenamer, but I feel bad at just thinking of truenamers).

>>98836137Oh, thanks, and tell me if I get annoying.Thr one I can think of now is about the Zenhren perk, am I correct to think it wouldn't give you the authority of event storage, and for that I should either become a true ancestor or a god with specifically that authority?

There was, bafflingly, demand for it on the bunker. For what it's worth, and I know this too sounds like something Babylon would say, it is unironically written to be beatable in-setting by sufficient firepower and force. I can't give exact numbers and it is FUCKING HARD AS BALLS even without the Transcendent wank, but this is a setting where a guy sat down to stat out living universes. And also brainstormed quantum golems, reality paradox dragons, un-beings, hyperforms, transelementals and anomalies (cosmic Abominations) he assumed could threaten them. There are, conceivably, some powers that could potentially be read as "lol no" to mimicry or adaptation.Craig likes turning the dials up to 11
>>98837966I remember reading the Immortals Handbook pdfs a long time ago and being rather disappointed that the angels (more "biblically accurate" than the official DnD celestials) have stats far below the infamous neutronium golem, for example. I can probably see why an ORT expy written that way in the jump may appear like it's only there to dab on the setting or something lol.If you're looking for feedback, I think adding advanced purchase tiers to the companion creation option would be a good idea, to make it possible to create your own versions of Transcendent tier Ultimate One or above (in case you don't want GOD's personal bodyguard/guard dog, but perhaps GOD's personal archivist/scribe? I am assuming it would be difficult to do with the 1000 CP they get).

>>98842303Y'know, technically there is no restriction on being ORT in Angel Notes. Due to, at the time, everyone assuming ORT was just a normal Ultimate One using the normal japanese term (原初の一アルテミット・ワン, Gensho no Ichi Arutemitto Wan, lit. And it's an option in SkyrimAnon's FGO part 2 anyway, where you are not explicitly bamboozled by Malla into thinking you still have your heart.
>>98842384The origin description of Angel Notes doesn't give justice to the power of ORT, it feels cheap to use it. Also, I know nothing about Angel Notes beside the summary from the jumpAnd for SkyrimAnon's jump, I dislike jumps who just goes "here is a power level, take something in that". Which is why I was pleasantly suprised with the levels of divinity in The Immortal Handbooks, it felt like each level gave enough details about its mechanics to go around my usual dislike.Right now, the best Fate jump to be ORT in my eyes is Radiance of Pangaea by FancyFireDrake. Each one of ORT's abilities is a different perk. It just clicks for me.Also, if you don't want to make more jumps, don't read Lord of the Mysteries. It is awesome, and the current jumps are okay, almost good compared to most Reddit jumps
>>98842592>Lord of the MysteriesWay ahead of you, I avoid my countrymen's literature because it reminds me of everything I hate about their mindsets. Skimming Three Body Problem made me hope both the Chinese and the aliens killed each other.

>>98843176>>98836216https://typemoon.fandom.com/wiki/Event_StorageIt's something that all True Ancestors can do post-TsukiRe. Akuta can't do it because she's not a True Ancestor, she's a similar but different kind of Elemental that just happens to have bloodsucker gimmicks to be an unnecessarily indirect and convoluted Tsukihime reference while fitting Nasu's autism about Akuta's nature. BB and BB Dubai can also do it too because they are advanced AIs that can break down matter and compress it as spiritrons-effectively compressing the data of reality itself.

>>98843687I have generated all sorts of shit, but I worry about how AI is used in anything requiring precision like lore, math, code efficiency, or file sizes. I've generated countless pictures of the duck character I post, webm related and more. I won't sit here and say I don't think AI isn't fucking incredible. I have listened to AI stories (what if X was in Y), music, videos, pictures and porn, and anyone who says there aren't gems is lying. People are even now doing things like adding Skate to GTA or Minecraft to Skyrim, and it's becoming seamless. The problem becomes when you're trying to make something literally as accurate as possible. I've spent hours tweaking singular images before. It's fine so long as you're the one inputting the creativity, but everyone I've seen use it for Jumpchain are otherwise people I think are detestable, with or without AI. Not that the community seems to have standards anymore. I went through every item compendium I could find when doing my D&D Jump. Even besides everything else, there are fundamental limitations. An AI cannot perceive what item you would think is most valuable if you don't know it exists. We shouldn't use it for Jumps. Like, I appreciate people who image their Jumps. I don't even think it should be used for that, but many times I've fed AI the pdfs of Jumps I've made and asked them to generate an image just to see what it makes. It's like I'm using a Skannerz toy again.
>>98843932It's not quite the same thing, but Family Time is apparently being made with gen AI for concept art, textures and mesh tests. It's scheduled to replace those with art drawn by real artists with the current art being for proof of concept and to bypass development bottlenecks, and this was allegedly always the plan. But at least AI helped the wolfgirl game go viral and get support faster while in playtesting mode.

That was never a requirement. The drawback was simply acknowledging you are probably going to mog regular Vecna without trying. First One Vecna is simply Vecna as a being of actual significance in the IH cosmology, and he's STILL far from the strongest fucker simply because Eve of Ruin Vecna was merely trying to undo all the defeats in his history. And there's no evidence Vecna ever aspired to BECOMING the universe instead of his ambitions in Sigil "merely" being limited to dominion over all mortal realities and the destruction of all pantheons and rival cosmic powers that fundamentally is still predicated on hijacking the Lady of Pain's place of power like a parasite.

>>98852162the scale of them is often higher in cultivation, and they don't need to jump through hoops for them either
>>98853084To be fair, there are some perks that actually disadvantage guys with greater scale, like Contrary Conjunction from Medaka Box which materialises an outcome based on it being the least likely thing to happen.
>>98853750It lets you reach an opposite conclusion to what you normally would from a given premise. For example "You're stronger than me, therefore I'll win." >>98852374In DnD, would the perk that lets you ignore material components affect the cost of making magic items based on spells that require material components?Like say my jumper made a scroll of Raise Dead, would he have to include the price for the diamond as usual or or just pay the normal price of a fifth level scroll?May have to alter my item crafter build depending on the answer, since for some items that can be a significant change.

I didn't think the answer to that one was obvious, you also dont really find much discussion online about the implications of epic feats.
>>98858023>you also dont really find much discussion online about the implications of epic feats.Nta but like using trap the soul/bind soul without a gem to actually hold the soul as it's a material component?
Why are Fate mages all about the unga bunga when choosing servants? They want saber because stronk, not to mention utter retardation like summoning Hercules as a berserker when he could've swept the whole HGW no contest as any other class. You'd think mages of all people would see the value of hax over raw power. Hell, there should be lots of mages that see getting temporary access to something like Rule Breaker as a more worthwhile pursuit that trying to win the HGW.
>>98858319yeah that one is espeically weird since there are several non-epic monsters(mostly evil outsiders) with soul trap as spell like ability so they dont need the gem either.I gave this a decent bit of thought as I heavily considered starting as an Ak'chazar Rakshasa or Pleasure Devil, both of whom have this ability. For the Pleasure Devil I just decided that it would instead turn the soul into a soul larvae, which is the form souls are traded in in the lower planes, but as far as I know there is no canon/official answer.
>>98858343>Why are Fate mages all about the unga bunga when choosing servants?Because for a lot of them they do have a strong ego as results of all the fucked up supernatural politics and they dont trust someone smarter and better than them. Though there are exceptions, mercenary types and the like who do prefer more subtle servants, like Kiritsugu would have loved teaming up with an assassin or caster.>not to mention utter retardation like summoning Hercules as a berserker when he could've swept the whole HGW no contest as any other class. that one was actually specifically because they wanted a mindless servants they could control without any issue, since they saw Kiritsugu's struggles with Saber in the fourth war and how from their perspective it resulted in the destruction of the grail.>You'd think mages of all people would see the value of hax over raw power. they do if they are the ones controlling it, needing to rely on an outside party really grates on their nerves. But if the war was about becoming a demi servant for example I could see them much more eagerly rely on it.>Hell, there should be lots of mages that see getting temporary access to something like Rule Breaker as a more worthwhile pursuit that trying to win the HGW.Yeah, again Ego, though some do like this from the get go, or come around to it.Like we know Roche for example, the master of Avicebron in Apocrypha was initially jealous of his servant being ridiculusly better at making golems then himself, but quickly came around to it because of how much he loves the magecraft and tried to learn from him instead, though that fucked him over in the end when Avicebron wewnt full mage and sacrificed his master to accomplish his magecraft.Paracelsus in Prototype similarly was valued by his master and eventually betrayed him.Best usage I can think of was probably by Reeve in Fate Strange Fake, he summoned Dumas and then put him to work in mass porducing noble phantasms for his own troops.
>>98858343>You'd think mages of all people would see the value of hax over raw power.See, here's where the problem of hubris kicks in. Your stereotypical arrogant young master-I mean, magus (although actually the terminology is technically correct) thinks that the MAGE with his years of study is supposed to provide the hax using his family's (theoretically) treasured magecraft preserved throughout the ages so their (theoretically) powerful mystical secrets can be unleashed for the sake of a (potential) miracle. Due to being able to cast magecraft on both the Servant and enemy Masters. And the SERVANT is supposed to provide the unga bunga, being able to (theoretically, under ideal situations) nuke both enemy Servants and Masters.
>>98856529>>98858023No. Spells and magic item creation are distinct processes.
>>98858373Honestly, it just feels like summoning a Caster is not only the best combat-wise the most risky option with the most potential to backfire with them being able to fuck with the summoning to pursue their own ambitions. In addition to those others, see everything that Medea did.
>>98858373>>98858606>the best*NOT the best
>>98858606yeah you do need to luck out with personality being compatible with the caster in just the right ways to the point that they are willing to sacrifice their own ambition for you, like Medea and Kuzuki or Semiramis and Amakusa. And as we see with Roche its not even enough to just be super similar to them.
>>98858585isn't casting the spell part of the process of creating the items?

>>98858645no, moe and st both work fine to me
>>98858023>The act of working on the armor triggers the prepared spells, making them unavailable for casting during each day of the armor’s creation. (That is, those spell slots are expended from his currently prepared spells,>just as if they had been cast.)">This cost is only for spells activated by the item that have material or XP components.>Having a spell with a costly component as a prerequisite does not automatically incur this cost>if the item doesn’t actually cast the spell.>>98858585Only some parts of them both are distinct. There are exceptions.Stop asking me stupid questions for which the rules are clear. In cases where it actually casts a spell, I would argue you don't pay it.
>>98859046Thanks for the answer and sorry for annoying you, but I really dont think that was such an obvious case, especially since there are cases where the amount of castings an item offers cant be matched by the amount used in the creation process. like you can make a wand with 50 charges of 3rd level spells in two weeks even if you can only cast 1 3rd level spell per day.Like based on the wording of things I really could have seen either way as reasonable.

Fuck me? Fuck you.
>>98859890>He has asked me over a dozen questionsjust to be clear that was not me. >>98858606Look, you know how IRL people YOLO into memecoins and penny stocks hoping to not even have to think in order to do a low IQ thing in order to get generational wealth? This is what mages rushing to summon Saiba think like, in terms of Servants. Theoretically, THEORETICALLY, you don't have to think once you summon Saiba, you just make her charge at the enemy Servants, tank everything they can dish out magically, and literally wipe Servants and Masters alike off the map.Obviously the ideal Servant is one who can do everything and that's what the Einzberns tried to get Angra Mainyu, but also mages don't fully know how their setting works and once again, overreached while trying to grab the easy Servant money.
I still think the obvious one is to summon a Hassan and have them assassinate the enemy masters. That strat is so hard to counter without a lot of trial and error, and Hassans even have the advantage of both generally being pretty loyal/obedient, and having a compability summon pretty much build into the process as you get the one of the 18 you are most compatible with in the first place. Not to mention that they dont tend to have any costly NPs.
Test. Are we out of the cuck chair?
Does anyone have advice on how to use solo RPGs to simulate successes and failures in their chains? The timeline of events is still up in the air.But I just wanted to stay that if you get F.R.I.E.N.D. and Tools of a Vision, yes you can totally put the AI into something aestheticlaly similar to Jocasta's femme Ultron body, that is an option.
>>98872802That got me thinking, are there any jumps made by someone involved in the creation of the original media the jump is based on?
>>98876431nta, but I think there are some fanfic jumps in SB that may have involved the author. I remember something along those lines, but never looked too deeply into it.
>>98794037Yo, can we take items in your BoEF jump as items that fill the same slot?Specifically, I wanna take the Belt of Magnificence +6 as a chastity cage, since they take take up the same slot and I have autistic sensory issues with wearing belts specifically. Also, which charisma score is said belt boosting? BoEF splits them into two and the item doesn't clarify. Same with the charisma boosting manhal
>>98879045Your manner of typing vexes me. I am not answering you.
>>98879492So, yes then. Thanks!
I should make the price scale for my next jump 100/200/300/500.
Do any of y'all use ttrpgs to gamify what happens in your jumps? Especially the generics. If so, any recommendations?
Everything is now figured out and named. I have just 50 screenshots to sort through here before bed to make sure I haven't missed anything obvious. That leaves me with roughly 5 days to finish this to count as a second Halloween Jump. More tenable than initially thought, but if I have one ADHD day, I'm fucked. The notes were a big part that was kicking my ass. It's wiki failed me, so I had to become a wiki.>>98879984>>98880001It's good to have confirmation then that the other poster has been a shitposter this whole time.Go back to your failed pngtuber stream, 9tard. >>98880173What the fuck are you sperging out about, dinglefuck? I was just curious if anyone else used games to play out their jumpchains. Specifically solo games.
>>98880233>genericsI will be giving you 1 Star on Yelp.
>>98879984As long as you have somewhere around 4 perks/items at minimum priced at 50, that's fine. There just needs to be enough of those little things in case someone picks up an odd number 300/500 options on a discount, and 2 things priced at 50 isn't quite enough while 3 introduces the same problem if all of them are something a player wanted.
>>98879492>he replied
>>98880463nta but I'd put options that no one would ever want just to make people struggle between their disgust and their compulsion to spend all their points.
>>98880001I'm...not entirely sure this is what you mean, but now I'm finally done with all the work to lay the foundations for my new chain, the premise of it is that the "Jumper" is actually 5 3e Infernals that will discover a way to bootstrap themselves into having the powers of a Jumper. Each of them will, eventually, share 200 CP apiece from the usual starting stipend in other jumps. In order to set that up, their first arc is actually just going to be the Exalted 3e Infernals jump that they all spawn from. And to simulate their development, I'm engaging with the mechanics of Exalted 3e over in my self-imposed quarantine thread on the bunker.DO NOT DO THIS UNLESS YOU ENJOY PAINTHIS IS AN ASININE, SELF-DEFEATING PILE OF TOMFOOLERYI am only doing this because for years now, Exalted 3e has by turns enraged and amused me both from what a retarded shitshow of a garbage fire it is in terms of mechanics, rules and lore, that has once again resulted in Infernals comically dominating the game simply by coming in after everyone else is done fucking up and learning from the mistakes of the past but also having more going for them than being the Lion's flunkies. I am doing this to viciously mock the desecration of something I once enjoyed, after waiting YEARS between sourcebooks and STILL not getting comprehensive FUCKING rules for how NPCs are even supposed to work, with Infernals as the proxy for my revenge (much as the Yozis are using them in 3e), and armed with an arsenal of obscure meta in-jokes that will only make sense to anyone keeping track with all the editions of Exalted and the inherent silliness of 3e's rules in particular. Such as why Ligier in 3e is normally unassailable by most characters, but can be felled by an Abyssal with the power of psychosexual unicorn tapdancing, or an Infernal being themselves. I am a bitterly disappointed birthday boy kicking over the cake and throwing my LEGOs out of the window.
>>98880463I'm just shitposting, actually. I hate those awkward 50cp increments.Even worse idea: 100/300/500/700 and the 100cp options aren't freebies.

>>98881764i support your resistance to quicksilver worshippers but still can't support your narcissism
>>98881764>/cyoag/ Honestly, every time I look in there and see a dearth of OC, I'm more and more convinced they'd be a net detriment to /tg/ at this point if they didn't function as a heatsink for all the biggest retards on the site.
>>98883025I haven't lurked there in years, to be honest. Jumpchain fills that niche for me now. People keep getting older, but also many aspects of /tg/ have been cut away with time. I just assumed /cyoag/ was still active, I mean. Smut threads gone, Quests now have their own board and secondary website, and even we've been fractured. I believe one of the White Wolf generals here on /tg/ had their Discord taken over by trannies at one point, and that general lost the entire community because of it. Not defending using Discord. PDFs are also gone. That's just shit I remember off the top. Then there's things like 5e which just lowered all the standards. There measurable differences in how newer generations consume content. iPad Babies is a real thing.
>>98883130>I just assumed /cyoag/ was still activePfft. It's active in the sense that a corpse being hollowed out by vultures is active. Posters go through cycles of blaming each other, blaming the creators, splitting off to do multiplayer circlejerks only to come crawling back, being (rightfully) pissed off at Tok, and then shitting on the rare new OCs being made. And technically yeah, OC is being made, but there is less than no incentive to engage with that community when they're more interested in dickwaving with the CYOA creators' Discord than contributing. It's a complete shitshow.>White Wolf generalsYou'll have to be more specific, that's pretty much all White Wolf and former White Wolf products (all their IPs are currently owned by a lazier, worse company called Onyx Path right now due to an international fiasco caused by a Dracula LARPer. Not a shitpost). >iPaD BabiesYep. Anyway, /exg/ is so depressing that's why I've fucked off to my corner of the bunker to write text walls and eventually roll for silly shit in peace most of the time.

>>98880255What, you never did Generic Western, or generic Wuxia? Or Generic 80s Sword and Sorcery Movie Night? There's a lot of good generics out there.
>>98884043Generics are inherently power grabs and almost always inexcusable. They're also disrespectful to actual Jump makers who spend their time learning a setting only for some chucklefuck to add that setting's super specific ability to something that is fanfiction. It disincentivizes various Jumps from getting made. Case and point, I was going to make a Dungeon Maker 2 for the PSP Jump, but a Generic exists which is close enough to make the point moot. >>98884110>It disincentivizes various Jumps from getting made. You mean it disincentivizes you from making a jump, because other people certainly haven't been affected.
>>98884264Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence. Generics insist upon themselves. >>98884701>>98884750It is the objective truth, and many of you need punched in the mouth. It is neither productive or useful to debate you. >>98884787Absolutely not. In terms of my Jump making ability, I don't really see many equals. My only limitation is a lack of imaging understanding. Even someone like Shard who I have acknowledged their effort, I have also pointed out how they often fundamentally don't understand the Jumpchain format. There are people who could come back and that I would say are better, but I am the best you got. Anyhow, I'm beating my dick and going to sleep. Entertain yourself. As I said, you are pointless and deserve violence. I finished everything in my Jump but perks and items today, by the by.
>>98884809your jumps are worthless to me, good night
>>98884778Keeping shitposting, I see, well have fun with that, I guess.
>>98884809>they often fundamentally don't understand the Jumpchain format.Get it right. The charge should be malpractice, not jump-manslaughter. I've been here since Jumpchain was a single page CYOA in /cyoag/, and I was there when Quicksilver left. I understand full well the format, I simply choose to not let it limit me if and when I deem it suitable for a given setting; hell, you yourself admitted the addition of canon companion options were a net positive, and as I did when we had this talk for L5R I keep all the receipts for why I did X or Y. 1/2/4/6 and 1/3/6 are fine for simple settings with clearcut and differentiable advantages, but fiction isn't always that simple and I read/game widely so sometimes I have to go walkabout and I don't accept "it's nice and easy to read, and it's the way we've always done it" is worth producing an imagination game where it's harder to imagine yourself as an actual character in it instead of an awkwardly shoehorned guy. I don't expect you to follow my body of work but Heaven's Reach, House of the Dead, Exalted vs Chronicles of Darkness and Burn Legend are all pretty straightforward applications of it. Below is the first post of mine I can find on the archives from back when I was so new I didn't even bother learning how to roll dice:https://archive.4plebs.org/tg/thread/34765004/#34768477Also I don't know who told you I'm a they/them, but they did us both a disservice. I'm still on track for the 31st. Over half the items are done, and I'm trying to finish them before bed. Then perks.>>98888089>you yourself admitted the addition of canon companion optionsI don't remember doing this. In any case, I was being charitable. Doing something wrong intentionally is often worse. I have praised your DC Collab Jump for being a good representation of the setting, but a bad Jump due to volume. We've been here the same length of time. I just didn't start fucking up Jumps until later, and only started making them relatively good consistently just recently. We could probably go pound for pound if we tried, but I still dislike how you deviate from formating.
>>98888480Unless you're backtracking on your previous claims of having left before, you definitely haven't been here the same length of time as Shard.
>>98888907I've said this further back, but I didn't use my name because I didn't back then. I'm not looking for it. Working on my Jump.
Shard. On a scale of Chinese Litterature to Exalted, how likely are you to one day make a Mass Effect or Star Wars jump?
>>98890571I have no conceivable reason to/10, I'm content with the ME jump we have even if it's very Quicksilver and my interest in Star Wars died with its sex appeal.

>>98891980His argumentation is basically right, but he's the God of Tyranny or some such, so there's no reason to accept anything he says in good faith. Either everything decays, rocks fall and everyone dies, or we accept the Marker's love and become as one. There's not really an objective middle ground. The world either is or isn't, and all other arguments are succeeded by that.
>>98891980>Annihilating everything and returning reality to before existance is making things better
>>98892122>His argumentation is basically rightThe hell it is, it's just declaring living isn't worth it.
>>98892131It isn't, not if it ends. Believing otherwise is just unobjective. The "middle ground" position is accepting that could be wrong and trying to find a third gambit through scientific research, but that's a crapshoot and basically cope. It's why I made a Jump of Lust From Beyond, it addresses this third position with just becoming literally as hedonistic as possible while destroying everything else forever to maintain it, thus being a valid infinite solution. "We're all just dancing in red".
>>98892208>Believing otherwise is just unobjective.Believing in general is unobjective, life being worth it or not being so isn't an objective truth, because life has no inherent value outside of what you give it.If you truly believed life isn't worth it if it ends you wouldn't be here.

DC is not subtle that Darkseid is never supposed to have a point, ever. It's not a Marvel Doom situation or even Thanos written as a warrior-poet under his creator and biggest fan Jim Starlin, if it was not clear this guy's whole deal is being a joyless prick who wants to control everything. The most novel thing about this event is that his current ascent to power was predicted by the only woman he ever loved (provably, we still have no fucking idea what went down with Myrina, and in most timelines he doesn't get with Wonder Woman, and the longer comics go on the more clear it becomes what an exception the DCAU timeline is).

>>98903896I've said it before and I'll say it again, I do not care for balancing Jumps around companions. When it comes to 'unique' powers like the "Hero of" perks or something like being the Dovahkiin in Skyrim, I believe it's better to balance around the Jumper. I am most definitely of the school that companions are treated too flippantly in Jumpchain. If I give 200CP, I'll have multiple Heroes of Strength and Skill running around, and that's just no can do. Hero of Skill could be worth 600CP, but they will always require a ranged weapon, preferably one with infinite ammo, so they have to expend CP or get creative like Reaver. A Hero of Strength is less capable in practice than a Hero of Skill, but they can literally just pick something up and go to town. When I can't treat companions as individuals due to my preference of not letting them get unique things, I try to treat them a a party to be used. That's why I let you create or import 8 tor 300CP. It's not an elegant solution, but companions are not elegant.

>>98905517At least you waited this time, lol.>since all of your responses to criticism is Nu uh you are wrongA number of the Jump makers like 9anon who criticize me literally don't even make Jumps anymore, they write three origins and call it a Jump when that's a WIP.
