About that yesterday comment about too dense table - are tables like this really "too dense" in your opinion? Warcor pointed out that it's important to prevent single sniper to cover half the table and giving units options to get around and secure objectives instead of turning game into sniper duel.
>>
Or this.
>>
Is pic related an alright terrain set up for some demo games? Gonna be teaching a friend but it's my first time actually setting up a table
>>98778806
>>98778809
Both those tables look good desu. I think the main problem people had last thread is that the maps were so dense that it seemed like any model could just go anywhere and get partial cover. Also those tables looked like a nightmare for TAGs and REMs to move around
>>
>>98774094
What strikes me is that you didn't score any points in the games you've lost, how did this happen?
>>
>>98778806
>>98778809
on the other hand, the first table does diminish snipers and general long range firepower very much, and emphasizes impetuous activations and short rage firefights. the second seems more balanced, has at least a couple long firelanes which can be used.

yes, is important to prevent sniper dominance, but not at the expense of not being able to draw a LoF longer than 40cm.

Put the sniper towers out of the dep zone, block their vision with large buildings or trees...

Those missions were: Data Harvest, The Dig and Double Blind. The one I won was The Dig.

As my opponent pointed out in first game (Data Harvest), it turned out to be very "all or nothing" mission - while I managed to grab two harvesters, I failed to place one at zone inside enemy half of the table, second was placed inside DZ but deactivated in last turn since I had no proper defense left to prevent that (only single Fennec left here, Yamabushi died just close by), likewise my opponent managed to place one harvester inside closer zone and, with last order, placed second inside my DZ - and since it was last turn of the game (I had initiative), I couldn't do anything. 6 points total scoring multiple objectives (two harvesters, having more than enemy, having none active in your zones, etc). Second lost game, 9-0 score because I had to surrender, lacking any active pieces left - my goal was to "dominate" zones around consoles but lost hard here - initially Crux got to one, Tikbalang to another but in opponent turn he managed to land Total Control on TAG and used him to kill Cruz, then retread deeper into his own territory, ending his turn with him in base contact with Shona, so in my turn I could only get control back, try to dodge and have him die to Shona CC attack. Here my opponent claimed I should had use Heavy Flamethrower instead of trying to dodge but I assumed I cannot use template weapons while engaged in CC. On my second turn tried to salvage situation a bit but couldn't do much. We agreed that he had all the tools left to destroy all consoles (which was his mission) while I had none to secure any.

Do you plan to use paratroopers or other such shenanigans? Those empty sides look a bit iffy.
>>
>>98780344
Hadn't actually considered that honestly, at this point the two demos I was gonna run was one game of 3 line troops vs 3 line troops and then another demo with 2 line troops + whatever model they think is cool vs 2 line troops + something much weaker then whatever they pick. Mostly just waiting on her to actually pick a faction she likes so I can tailor the demo a bit. I'll add some clutter to the sides though, that's a good suggestion

I did also try making pic related with the terrain from one of the starter sets but it still feels too open?
>>
>>98782186
This table actually has a little too much clutter.
Learn to love having at least one major fire lane on your table. Learn to love using weapons other than boarding shotguns. Learn to love using drop troopers.

I see too many tables posted here and IRL where cunts just scatter crates and shipping containers in every possible 4" square of space.
>>
>>98778809
This looks fucking retarded. Why are the buildings and shipping containers on the roads? The pink tranny buses are parked like fucking barricades.
>>
>>98778806
This looks really bad. I mean the buildings have that nice colour scheme, but the table layout is just terrible.
Why are the buildings all overlapping the roads? Roads are great. They give someone a place to site hmgs and snipers. They give you a reason to use infiltrators, smoke, holoprojectors, or move+dodge.
The insane density of the scenery doesn't do much for the game. Boring as fuck. I hope you like shotguns and impetuous troopers.
>>
>>98778985
I like it. But note the position of the truck with the pallets. Whoever created it is trying a little too hard to prevent flank attacks, and also really doesn't want the diagonal road to be a fire lane. But it's cool with all the crashed cars.

Now I know to use damn gloves when handling this shit, this is stronger than plastic glue, holy shit. How do you guys deal with it?
>>
>>98782474
I was using the regular Gorilla Super Glue, and was reading that people use the gel version. Does it matter which one I use?
>>
>>98782497
The gel version is just easier to use as it doesn't tend to spread everywhere.
>>
>>98782330
But when I take closer look, there are multiple options to shoot across almost entire table and from DZ single sniper can still defend a lot of potential choke points. It's just that other units can still advance around without having to use smoke (which is good for armies that don't have them or have limited availability like PanO) and move + dodge is still very risky. Those three games I played were on more dense tables and I still could utilize long distance rocket launcher ARO or engage HMG fire.

>>
>>98782474
Dry fit everything and learn to spot possible mould tears in joints. There shouldn't be gaps if you cleaned it properly. And don't splash glue everywhere, you don't need to use much of it. Never used gloves myself, if some ca-glue I use do end up on my finger it just peels off eventually. Fingertips regenerate anyway.
>>
>>98783102
>There shouldn't be gaps if you cleaned it properly

NTA but a lot of Infinity minis I glued so far had gaps and similar problems. Most of TAGs had to be pinned on arms/legs since they would otherwise "wiggle" inside their sockets and as such, refuse to glue properly.
>>
>>98779797
well, mission selection seem to have screwed you over a tad, unfortunately there's no accounting for bad luck.
that being said, an old advice from VaulSC was to (if possible) go second, which can be a significant advantage for missions in which scoring is tallyed at the end of a turn (this could have proven useful for the first game). the second game seems a rotten case of bad luck/lack of experience (both not your fault).
Under the circumstances you did what you could, perhaps the one thing you noted about the Tik and Crux doing most of the work could be amended by trying to use these pieces in concert with the other elements of the list (such as fireteams and coordinated orders)
>>
File: list2.png (265 KB, 692x701)
265 KB PNG
>>98783592
I'm a bit afraid of going second - from what I understand, by going first I can force opponent to hide some of the pieces and otherwise react instead of act on the opening and have some chance to eliminate some pieces. With counterintelligence, reducing my order pool makes less sense, too. If I would go second, I'm afraid I would end up like my very first game - with all key or ARO pieces disabled or removed.

As for Tik and Crux (which autocorrect keep changing to Tim and Cruz, which sound a bit funny), here is the list I was using for that second lost game and one that was not made by me but proposed by Warcor. It was also the same list I used for that one game I won, against Bakunin. In theory, it have four active/mobile pieces - aside from mentioned two hitters, there is also Banshee (which I kept waiting until very late, assuming she would go down on the edge only when truly required) and Pathfinder, who would be essentially a "runner". Rest were either defensive (Black Air) or support (Tech Bee, Mechanist) or order generators. In worst case scenario, two FO Fennecs would try to move forward a bit to press some buttons, throw discoballer or such.

I admit that moving Tik so much forward was a mistake, I completely didn't took into account that Svalar still have some hackers, in this case two Locusts in hidden deployment. Rest of key enemy pieces included, aside from Shona, Karhu and Vargar, forming a team with Shona and Infirmarer, Knight of Justice with some Fusiliers and few other pieces I forgot. But Shona Pain Train was pretty effective group.
>>
>>98782474
I suggest you get a small bottle of nailpolish remover, it breaks down the glue so you don't have to kill your hands scrubbing. You're welcome.

>>98782591
gel is easier to overuse, which is that guy's problem. You get the liquid stuff, you apply it to the edge of a piece of paper and you apply it to the model parts you want to glue. Over time that tip of the paper will get hard, just keep using it as your applicator, and wick away any excess liquid with the end of a paper towel (blot, don't smear).

I use this, a piece of junk mail, and a paper towel. It never fails me.
>>
Btw, does a brand of superglue exist with a thin needle applicator like for plastic glue?
>>
>>98784342
CA glue tends to clog, something plastic glue can't do without plastic, but there's thin channel tips on certain brands. None are needles, no. You can buy a bundle of thin applicators that will adapt to any bottle nozzle though.
>>
>>98782474
Fucking kek I didn't know people with worse motor skills than me existed
Brush type applicators are good
>>
>>98783383
You didn't clean them properly.
>>
>>98784774
Yes, I did. CB molds are not perfect.
>>
>>98784774
Let's call a spade a spade here; metal models are notoriously difficult to properly clean up, though not impossible. It takes a lot of time working with that material and its maker to get a feel for what steps need to be taken to ensure a proper fit. I do endless dry fits and adjustments on mine, and only when the whole thing is put together I will notice there was still some material that needed to be cleaned off to flawlessly mate the parts.
>>
How do I clean up this glue from the guy's feet? Noticed it was covering some of the toes.
>>
>>98785000
Superglue debonder would be the solution, but imo it won't be very noticeable after you add terrain paste and everything. It could just be mud or something.

just as curiosity, did you try the list we tried to work-out in the previous thread? noticed any differences?

as i can see it, the Black A.I.R. was used in a fireteam with the Fennecs for the bonuses? you could deploy the Banshee from the beginning (thus giving you KHD coverage against people trying Total Control on the Tikbalang) and adding her order to the pool (as she is still the cheapest KHD in the faction, and has super-jump to move in later turns). Also, i would try to switch the Crux for a Hetkari multi red fury.
>>
>>98785000
That's where having a piece of card stock or paper towel to remove the excess glue helps, but only when applying it. Some people even use metal tools and just break off the glue once it cakes on.
>>
>>98785354
The one that was named "List 1" from previous thread was indeed used for first mission, Data Harvest. It was overall more defensive but it felt okay, had it's own problems as instead of having two strong solo pieces (Crux and Tik), it had duo of Tik and Firefly engineer, rest was largely stationary (Griffin couldn't leave without breaking fireteam, when he died however, two Fennecs FO could move forward and the one carried harvester to enemy DZ, using discoball to cover himself, normally Yamabushi would follow to support but he died to mine in DZ).

Why exactly Hetkari instead of Crux? He is also rather stationary piece and not a specialist. Also, against Svalar, Banshee couldn't protect Tik as both hackers were in hidden deployment, attempting hack only when in comfortable position of their active turn.
>>
Oh and tweaked a bit that list from previous thread actually, forgot about it - changed hacker Fennec to second FO and Squalo to Tikbalang. I can't take screenshots right now because CB changed something in their desktop version and now clicking on loading code shows just "local" icon that does not work. Eh.

Code, if anyone want: axZrZXN0cmVsLWNvbG9uaWFsLWZvcmNlE0tlc3RyZWwgYWx0IHRha2UgQzOBLAIBAQAKAIcMAQUAAACHFQEBAAAAIQEBAAAAhxEBBAAAAIcSAQMAAACHCwEJAAAAhwsBCQAAAIcLAQQAAACHCwEKAAAAEwEBAAACAQAFAIcNAQMAAACHIAEDAAAAhwwBAwAAAIcVAQIAAAAQAQIAAA%3D%3D

>molds are not perfect

>>
>>98785075
Oh yeah, I could just use my mmud texture I put on my Warhammer bushes and a bush and people won't notice a thing.
>>
>>98784233
But how do you get the glue off of the paper and onto the part ya want before it dries fast enough?
>>
>>98785468
because in active (and, up to a point, also in ARO) is much more dangerous (marksmanship and bs(-3) makes a rough affair for those on the receiving end), has a better gun, and mobility is the same as the Crux; as far as being a specialist, I think other pieces are better suited: firefighters are for killing.

Why would you say the Griffin couldn't move without breaking the fireteam?

My point on the Banshee was for future experiments, wasn't intended as a solution for last matchup (which was a nasty situation, I must say)
>>
>>98785611
Oh, okay. I wish I could squeeze in both Crux and Hetkari but that would not really be possible I guess. As for Griffin - most of the fireteam was spread around and often separated by pieces of terrain so they would need to jump first and I would still have to worry about breaking coherence.
>>
>>98785567
Use a toothpick.
>>
>>98785567
It doesn't dry that fast? I honestly don't understand the question.

>apply CA glue using card stock to part
>dab away excess with a paper towel
>assemble, in no rush because the glue doesn't set instantly
I'd film it if I didn't have a horrible desk setup.

Laziness probably. I imagine it's just cause they functionally do almost the same thing even if there is a pretty distinct difference, so people just call them discoballers cause discoballs are more universal/available. I have a friend who refers to marksman rifles, rifles and combi rifles as just

>>98782186
The 24 x 32 size should be okay for the 3v3 games but if you ever decide to do like 150pt games make sure to play on a bigger map. Most missions say to set the board up that size at that points value but I've played a couple games on those smaller maps and they really do not actually work with how "standard" infinity plays, everything is just way too close and cramped to be tactical about anything
>>
>>98785647
so a list with Tik lieutenant, Hektari and Crux?
>>
>>98788878
That's 167 points on just three guys, squeezing remaining 12 suddenly becomes a real problem, especially if you want them to actually contribute.
>>
>>98788902
>needing 15 guys in every list ever
Cuck.
>>
>>98788923
You won't get 15 in, but you can make a serviceable list with 13? You're playing Kestrel bro
>Do any duo pairing of your liking with the Tik, Crux, Hek & Pathfinder
>Form a core with the fennecs so your thunderbolt fennec can ARO and blam cunts to death (could even get the Crux to join them if need be)
>Machinist jerks off in a corner and uses palbots to run out
>Fugazi, Jackals + Magistrate are your ARO pieces + backup Lt in case the Tik goes down
ARO duty and providing backfield support with repairs, hacks and network establishment is still doing stuff, even if it ain't flashy.

As long as you have Jackals, Tech Bees and Fennecs you can basically do whatever the fuck you want in Kestrel and it will work. If you really didn't care about the hacking you could probably replace that fennec with just a normal guy and grab a tech bee or Sacha for some E/M Grenades. Don't fall for the 15 order meme; gutting your list so you can get an extra order or 2 in is like losing weight by using a knife to slice off chunks of yourself. Especially not worth it when you have such ready access to Tac Aware so you can basically get 15 anyway

What does this actually mean to you? Legit curious. As in playing any scenario at all?

It means that I would need to sign up, pay fee (which covers rewards) and have to play set number of games at fixed dates, with pre-selected missions, against people with similar official score (all games are reported to Corvus Sphere), with previously declared sectorial (without option to change). Meanwhile, as I'm green guy (one 300p casual game, one local tournament with 3 games), I would rather prefer casual game without pressure.

i doubt it, hte FT Master (jackal) on the magistrate doesn't seem to cover it, and the ColCorp fireteam is limited to duo and haris.
>>

Actually, FT Master skill works on all members, not just the ones stated in brackets. However, if unit in bracket is part of that FT and FT Master unit leave the FT, it gets automatically disbanded. So it's more of "negative" modifier, so to speak.

IIRC, there were some old rules for N2 or something, current editions are strictly 2 players only. However, Eldfall Chronicles (which is very similar to Infinity in many aspects) do have 2v2 or 1v1v1 modes and their rules are also available for free download so you can check here and apply accordingly. Infinity ruleset call that "free game". Just remember that game is optimized for 150-400p games on one side so if you intend to play in 3-4 players, adjust maximum number of points and play on biggest map size.
>>
>>98803867
>Infinity ruleset call that "free game".
No, Free Mode is the one that removes the model cap.
>>
>>98803907
Free Mode is mentioned as generally open to any house rules, removed order cap is just one of options.
>>
>>98803907
In case someone would wonder, page 144 of manual:

>This ruleset establishes a series of Game Modes with preset features—
like table size, number of Army Points and Game Rounds, maximum
number of Troopers allowed, and so on—that are considered to be the
most suitable to fully enjoy this game. However, the flexibility of Infinity
allows players to play games that modify these parameters, without
altering the essence of the game.
>Players are considered to be playing a Free Game when they agree
beforehand on different features than the ones listed in the Game Modes.
>An example of a Free Game would be a game with the table and
Deployment Zone sizes of a Raid Match, but played with 250 points
instead of 200, without a cap on the number of Troopers and with a
duration of four Game Rounds instead of the usual three of a Standard
Game.
>Free Games are a good resource for experienced players to test different
game combinations and to keep exploring the possibilities of Infinity’s
gaming system.
>>
>>98804287
>FREE GAME
>This Extra removes the limit of 15 Troopers in an Army List. So, a player can use Army Lists with more than 15 Troopers in them.
The ITS definition of Free Game is much more restrictive than the CRB's.
>>
>>98804309
Imagine playing against Ariadna without turn limit. Highlanders cheapest profile cost 5 points and are unlimited. Impetuous and irregular but slap Wallace with his Inspiring Leadership and voila, 50 orders under 300 points.

>>
>>98803830
2v2 would be easy to arrange. Stick to something like 400pts max per side (200pts per player) and it could work. The biggest decision is whether to treat the team as "one" army (with 2 lieutenants!), or to have a player in a team use all his orders before his teammate.
Either method could work.

Proxies are one of the best parts of Infinity. Being able to play without having to buy every single model if you have fitting one is great. I don't imagine having to suddenly buy and speed paint one missing model days before official play, having to buy entire box because I need 4 of some troops and box have only 3 or hunting for OOP model.
>>
>>98809359
Proxies are nothing but an excuse for CB to not release minis for missing loadouts, make many existing ones OOP "just for a while, honest:^)" and stuff them all into big boxes that raise newbie entry point uncomfortably high.
Proxies as a friendly allowance were always a thing, and it should stay a friendly allowance, not a dev-given right.

Moran's really are just the most "I'm gonna carry the game or eat shit and die" models in the whole game
>Hold him in reserve and drop him halfway up the board
>Get a perfect koala near an antenna that cucks my opponent's Nokk from going to press the button
>First turn I activate him, run him up and deploy another koala right in the ZoC of a fireteam ready to blitz out from behind a shipping container
>Cautious move to sneak along the shipping crate and get within ZoC of a hacker and HI in said fireteam
>KHD and HD zap their respective targets through the repeater on the Moran
>Spends the rest of the game holding the shipping crate down with his boarding shotgun gunning down button pushers trying to go for objectives
>Last turn he runs out and presses his own buttons to secure me the win
Next game
>Deploy him prone upfield behind some crates
>Opponent sends Valkyrie up the street and long bomb throws a grenade behind the crate
>Knocks the Moran unconscious and destroys the koala it planted nearby

I understand why people play Corregidor and vanilla Nomads just to get to use them now.

Few weeks ago I took part in local tournament in FLGS, next one was announced in next few weeks. I was that guy who won one game and lost two, overall that was my fourth game. Despite two loses, it was valuable experience so I guess I would take part again. Question is - since I played Kestrel last time, should I switch to some different sectorial or stay with Kestrel? I also have lots of minis for Military Orders and Varuna.

Proxies are the worst part of infinity, just before the speedball rules.
The proxy rules allow mongoloids like you to min/max and play nothing but "tournament meta" lists, while telling your opponent that the morat with the combi rifle is a proxy for an azrael with hmg. I've seen the rubbish that passes for peoples miniatures these days. Acrylic standees, random aliens, and pano troopers dropped onto the table like they shook out the carry case over it. Then they tell you "this is my aleph army".
Homo scum players.
>>
>>98810130
Having more weapon options on the models benefits everyone.
Painters don't get bored, collectors get all the options, and powergaming fags won't have to proxy. It might even encourage people to spend some money on their hobby.
>>
>>98818094
Nobody does that and you know it. Proxy rules allows to place Aleph remotes painted in blue and call them PanO bots because they have same base size and are easily recognisable, paint Squalo II in green and call him Tikbalang because your store still don't have the latter in stock or Marut (siocasted) in blue to pretend he is Seraph for same reason. Or avoiding spending extra money on "support pack" to field Mechanist.
>>
>>98818141
I dont want extra bits. Back in the day, when ITS packs included weapons sprues, absolute nobody want them and we ended throwing them to the bin. Same with actual minis that have extra opcions, like spec ops or some blister with optional arms. I put the extras in a box and never use them again. I dont want leftovers when i finish putting together my figures.

JSA have lots of fast, stealth and mimetism units as well as generally pretty high CC stats combined with decent enough vision control. Basically what this means is that you're trying to force your opponent into taking bad trades with you. He may have a MSV model or two, but he won't have enough to reliably cover and deal with your entire army and you should always be in a rangeband that's great for you but sucks for your enemy. All of your HI have stealth so they really can just go wherever they want. They don't care about pitchers or repeaters so hackers will barely get to molest them, and you have some exceptional profiles that are great for close ranged gunfighting with spitfires and boarding shotguns.

JSA can also do something unique in that they can run fireteams of actually good melee units with multiple wounds. Usually it'd be a death sentence to just bumrush a fireteam up the board, but you can force these "bad trade" moments where you run 5 dudes out and your opponent's ARO is either
>shoot at a jizamurai/domaru that's about to rip your asshole out from your spine but don't shoot at the hatamoto/daiyoyaki with a red fury that's trailing him
>shoot at the hatamoto/daiyoyaki and brace for the inevitable DA katana that's about to split your model in half
Oban is especially good at doing these banzai rushes. But yeah you really want to try and get some work out of your CC since with how good it is you can basically trade with anything and walk away the victor. A single 20pt Domaru is capable of taking out a TAG just by himself, so as long as your units are trading "up" from their suicide rushes you're in the all clear.
>>
>>98825380
Alright, sounds like very skill intensive army then, as in knowing exactly where and when to charge forward. Thanks a lot for explanation.
>>
>>98825445
Kind of yeah. They'll take a couple of games to get the hang of but they're fairly easy to understand. Melee is a core aspect of their army so you definitely need to approach them from a different mindset than something like Nomads or PanO, but that doesn't mean
>lol just try to get into melee only ever
Take gunfights when they work in your favour, and then when they wouldn't that's when you unsheathe the katanas. If a domaru can't reach something, send a shikami or teishin to parkour over some roofs and do it instead. If a valuable skirmisher would die, then you send in some retard on a motorbike or unveil someone from hidden deployment to give his life for glorious nippon.

As per usual always focus on the objective and you're golden.

made the mistake of thinking ORC's were just jobbers because everyone calls them vanilla HI troops and just got my ass absolutely handed to me by a boarding shotgun ORC running around with Hannibal and a Machinist.
>>
>>98831211
At the end of the day, they are relatively cheap (mentioned +1B boarding shotgun profile cost 26 points) BS 14 troops with 2 wounds, 14 PH and good armor. The fact that lots of people meme about their low WIP is mostly related to meta chasing.
>>
Forgot to mention that they are also 6-2 and sectorial variants are even better - Svalar one have Climbing Plus while Varuna have Stealth and Warhorse (why Acon have nothing still puzzles me).
>>
>>98831347
>>98831356
The +1B and fireteam +1SD really did make the Orc an absolute monster. The climbing plus was something I figured would not come into play but then fast forward my sniper being domed by hannibal and suddenly there was an Orc yeeting herself up a skyscraper and cramming a shotgun into the mouths of my Brawlers.

You'd think it would have been the Jotum or the Knight of Justice that'd be the bigger deal but nope. Honestly it was pretty cool to see her just go ballistic but god damn
>>
>>98831347
>they are relatively cheap (mentioned +1B boarding shotgun profile cost 26 points)
The meme predates their low cost by a decade. Editions changed, people's perception just hasn't caught up.
>>
>>98831655
HI absurdly high cost in previous editions was ongoing and game-wide problem, one of reasons why MO was called weakest army was how they couldn't really offset said cost with cheap units (unlike, say, YI who could field Kuang Shi for example).

I recall some cries about lowered HI costs in M5, however. Don't really understand why. But then again, removal of templates from shotguns also made a lot of people cry.
>>
>>98831670
The problem wasn't the HI cost per se, it was the crit mechanic. From what I've heard it should've been "crits auto-hit but don't auto-wound", and if you run N2 or N3 like that, the balance improves massively. Then CB made the (very inelegant IMO) changes to crits AND discounted HI at the same time in yet another episode of their overcorrections, and here we are.
Template weapons were another problem, specifically the huge negative "cost" of the very useful chain rifles, which meant everyone and their dog maxed cheap chainsmokers until unit limits were introduced.
>>
>>98831981
>crits auto-hit but don't auto-wound

But that's how it works - in f2f rolls, crit hits and negate success(es) from opponent, unless he scored a crit as well (where they negate each other), plus it means extra one saving roll.
>>
>>98832500
I meant exactly what I said, as in no extra saving roll, just "crits just take priority over all normal hits, but you roll for damage normally".

To be honest - how dickish would be continuing to play green painted Squalo MK2 as proxy for Tikbalang? I bought him year or something ago, when Tik was always out of stock, painted green to better serve as proxy. If you can buy one stop being a cheap bitch.
Infinity is too permissive with proxy culture. If the model exists, use the model. I get tired some seeing cheap fags having damn near half their list be unrelated shit when a model exists that would make it easier for the other side to know what you have.
>>
>>98836850
In my experience nobody cares about proxies unless 1. most of your force is proxies, you have the option to get actual minis and just refuse to do so out of laziness, or 2. most of your list is such a convoluted mess of proxies that it makes the opponent's eyes glaze over halfway through the explanation.

>but >>98836938 clearly cares

>>98836983
Nah, I only use few proxies and logical ones (like Aleph remotes painted in blue and light grey as PanO remotes, normal Fusilier with rocket launcher as Fennec with rocket launcher because Fennecs lack model for that and I wanted him to stand out, MO's Curator as Mechanist) so I guess that's okay then.

Proxying only matters for tournaments anyways, because casual groups are gonna play however they want. If two people demand you play with 100% accurate models, fine. Just play with them. If two guys are okay playing with a cardboard square that says "Cutter" on it, fine. Don't play with them.

Tournaments without proxying are still gonna be dominated by meta lists. It's just that meta lists will be fielded only by guys willing to drop overinflated prices from third party sellers on meta models game stores can't keep in stock. Which is far more degenerate than just allowing reasonable proxying.

How does "Jump(3'')" skill works? It adds 3 inches to standard 2 or adds 3 instead of 2? I mean, Griffin have it and move value 6-2, would that mean he can perform jump for whooping 11 inches or just 9?
>>
>>98859976
It replaces the standard 2" with whatever the number is in the brackets, so for the Griffin it means he'd jump 9" since he's adding 3" to his first MOV value of 6".

It's 67.50 for 10 intercessors, 55usd for 10 cadians, and it's 72usd for 5 Terminators. But tbf to GW, Space Marines are going a slightly more elite, and armies like Custodes and Grey knights are very elite armies (like 9-20 models for an army).

I want to get into the game, stuck between PanO and Yu Jing. I like PnO's "mnore shooty" and "more TAGs" aspects, but I also really like HI and it seems like that's YJ's thing. I know PanO has MO but I heard they suck because they try to be a melee army in a ranged faction. Is any of this true? Also I found this pic, which model is this?
>>
>>98860549
>Also I found this pic, which model is this?
Epsilon Unit from O-12.
>>
>>98860549
MO definitely requires more finesse to play than some of the other PanO factions but saying they suck is a huge exaggeration. Having actually decent melee is a viable strength that few really try and lean into; much easier to just say something sucks than it is to say "I'm bad and lazy and inflexible". MO is probably the best sectorial if you want to do hacking in PanO, which is another viable draw and angle. Their HI are also nothing to turn your nose up at; a Knight of Justice with a missile launcher wild-carded into a fireteam core is rolling 3 dice at 15 BS as an ARO. That fucker alone can wipe out half your opponent's list in their own turn.

If you're struggling to decide, I'd say first think about what lists you wanna run. If you like the idea of running lots of HI, like say 1/3rd of your list just being HI units, or running HI units solo that are absolutely supreme, then you might be leaning more towards YJ. If you only just want a few really good HI in fireteams though PanO is more than capable of providing that. TAG's wise PanO definitely has an edge since all of them are remote presence, meaning they're much harder to put in the dirt. You have a lot more variety since they just have more TAG units too, but keep in mind that YJ has
>A werewolf tag that can run 10" and shove their claw hand up a unit's asshole while dodging on 16's with TagCOM support
>A heavily armoured brick shithouse tag with martial arts 2 that can super jump 8" over a building, land on the other side and chop someone's head off with a sword
>A short king tag that can confidently push up against anti-armour setups in the active turn thanks to it's smaller silouhette and BS (-3) letting it pick fights a TAG should not be winning
YJ very much are in the TAG game so to say

>>

I think as long as you have some element of blue in the scheme you can really get away with whatever so long as it pairs well with the blue. Red PanO's still look different enough from nomads thanks to how their tech actually looks, and I've seen primarily white PanO with a single blue element (beret, shoulderpads, tabard, gauntlets etc.) and they work nicely.
>>98862287
Swiss Guard are strong but they're broken in the same way someone trying to stab a tank to death with a spear would think they're "broken". Most strong units are only considered strong because people lack the right tools in the moment to take them out.

No one is calling Noctifiers broken and they effectively do the same thing just slightly shittier and cheaper. Actual "broken" units in infinity are far less exciting since most of the time they're something like a tech bee or pathfinders with the tac aware upgrade that can run objectives and give you a free regular order for super cheap.

I have a question about Military Orders, I still intend to keep playing Kestrel for a while but since MO were the first models I painted, I would really try to understand how they properly work.

First and quite important one is who would be the lieutenant? Kestrel, for example, have very good Magistrates that can turn Jackals into regular orders while sitting comfortably at the back, either as actual Lt (with strategos) or as Chain of Command unit while someone else, like Tikbalang, operate on the front. In worst case scenario, it can be some Fusilier, maybe wasted Lt order but not that much. Meanwhile MO have all costly options - Knight Commander cost either 20p while also just sitting on the back, 23p for CoC or 24p for second order - but almost nobody can actually utilize that second order, Holy Sepulchre have NCO but he is questionable unit on his own (53p for rather big guy, who might be good shooter but that's all) and maybe Seraph if you don't mind using TAG in already very costly sectorial. Other options are only slightly cheaper Teuton at 18p, who pretty much still sit and do nothing or Joan, who would then require some Chain of Command (which is very costly already) since 40-50p unit won't just sit behind buildings and avoiding exposing herself, while her leadership skill can turn Warcor into an order - and that's all, since Techbee is now regular already. I'm confused.
>>
>>98867243
Honestly I think you want the knight commander regardless of what you do because she's so appilicable to all the strats MO can do.
>chain of command route (you take an active Lt)
The knight commander holomasks herself as a crozier or raveneye and sits in a corner the whole game. This means you can do crazy shit with Joan who really wants to run off the leash with her lt order and kill fuckers and die in a blaze of glory, or you take a Santiago Spitfire Knight and have him pop off
>cheapo Lt (you take the cheapest profile)
"But the teutonic knight is 2pts chea-" and is impetous. The last thing you want is your cheap Lt running out of their cubby hole to get shot. You're just doing the exact same thing as the CoC route, but now you have more points to play with. If you want to run a HI core I think this is the way to do it.
>shotgun monster (you take the +1 order Lt profile)
Most people see +1 order and think to just NCO that but like the knight commander has +1B, a boarding shotgun and BS13. There's an interesting case here where instead of just jerking off in a corner your commander holomasks herself as a tech bee or crozier and plants herself on the edge of the board. On your active turn she activates, runs 16" up the board and uses those Lt orders to start kicking down doors. She has basically the same comparable killing power as an ORC with a boarding shotgun, so you should use that. This also gives you an excuse to take Joan AND put her in a link, both for her CoC profile in case the commander bites it but also to psyche out your opponent into thinking you brought her as your obvious Lt. You then also get the benifit of having Joan running around and doing her own shit.

The NCO options aren't "bad", I think you're snubbing them a bit too much. A BS14 gun platform with good ARM that can use his holograms to set off mines is never a bad, especially when said gun platform has an AP HMG. The teutonic knight is appealing just cause cheap + lots of orders
>>
>>98867455
Had no idea Commander is a girl... Anyway, thanks for for rundown. You also mentioned HI core, is it actually necessary to utilize fireteams like this offensively? It's probably my lack of experience but I prefer to use large FTs defensively and operate on individual pieces or pairs.
>>
Forgot to ask but, again it's mostly lack of experience, but is it important to bring engineer (read - Mechanist + Palbot or two) if you have lots of HI? Or it's rather pointless to try to remove status that way? Similar question to having paramedics or doctors. What I puzzle with is if it makes sense to bring medics and spend extra orders to try and rise up unconscious guys and girls instead of letting them rest.
>>
>>98867562
medics and engineers are useful for force reconstitution: you don't revive all of the dead, just those you really need (main ARO piece, main gun, TAG, linchpin of a particular strategy, take your pick).
On the subject of engies: one of the main way you can severely hamper a TAG or a monster HI is through a mobility kill (glue, E\M ammo, hacking); unless you plan on avoiding those like the plauge, you're going to need a way to mitigate this kind of attack.
There's of course an opportunity cost, but a specialist that can also recover an important piece is valuable.

Have to disagree on the teuton: impetuous is not mandatory (but they do have limited cover), so if you put the lieutenant in a hole, you can keep hidden all game.
On the other hand, the teutonic knight has PH 14 and dodge(+3), which makes him a bastard and a half to hit, so you could reasonably use one as a Lt.
>>
>>98867608
Alright, thanks. Probably also helps that MO medic options like Infirmarer (cheaper) and Hospitaler (expensive) are both very mobile and latter durable but I don't understand why I heard so many prises for Curator when she looks like more expensive Mechanist.
>>
>>98867550
>Had no idea Commander is a girl
It isn't, I'm just retarded and always get the model mixed up with the curator for some reason
>You also mentioned HI core, is it actually necessary to utilize fireteams like this offensively?
Not at all, it's just an option you can choose to do like anything else in this game. Most factions can't really wield cores in an effective way because moving multiple models safely can be hard and unsafe, but with HI with high MOV, V and ARM you can pull it off. A non-PanO example is Tunguska and their hollow men or Oban and their domaru links.
>I prefer to use large FTs defensively and operate on individual pieces or pairs.
If you like pairs MO is honestly really solid for that. Kyle Hawkins basically does the boarding shotgun thing I mentioned with the commander more reliably for 2pts more and is a specialist + wildcard to boot. He makes a great buddy to a Hospitalier knight with a HMG that can tag team with him to cover every rangeband
>>98867626
It just feels a bit too sketch to be running for an Lt. The extra wound definitely makes him appealing though, but whenever a model has impetous it really does feel like you should be using it whenever you can just to get value, but I guess it does technically make him the ideal cheapest option.

As a Druze player that's constantly told "Arslan is great because he can just dodge everything bro", when you actually try to lean into it it very rarely plays in your favour and you end up losing him to like a Dikpala with a combi rifle or some dumb shit because you just high roll.
>>
I've been browsing the various factions, and is it just me or CA feels completely OP? They appear to have the "best" unti for every role, and a ton of low cost chudligns for padding out your orders. Sure something like an Avatar is probably too "eggs in one basket" but they you have stuff liek Anathematics, Achilles, and a bunch of stacker morat profiles. Raicho looks like a Jotums with 2 less armor (still ARM 8) but SR-3 and other goodies like Warhorse and Combat Instinct and it's cheaper to boot.

difference between Arslan and the Teutonic knight is also the absence of shellgame: you can (even should, in certain circumstances) max out knights AVA, and there aren't many pieces which would like to try and murder the Teuton, chances are not good.
Frankly, for my money, De Fersen is best LT with mobility Joan with Coc: WIP 14, has use for lt order, don't-care-come-at-me in shooting or melee, Joan will go and do her job, and if both are dead, i'm fucked regardless.

I don't know, anon, in my very first game (150p), my Teuton died to flamethrower bot from CA (Ikadron I guess), because he kept failing his dodge rolls, until the final failure that cost him flamethrower to the face (which he also failed to save) when he tried to doge into base contact with it.

I mean that implies taking Arslan as your Lt, which is a no-go. The WIP is nice and it does feel fluffy to do, but the fucker needs to be in a haris chucking out disco balls or he's just wasting his time and you're wasting your points. What I'd give for CB to give him climbing plus or 6-2 MOV so he could do something other than be a glorified ball thrower

I wish I didn't think Druze and this bastard were just so cool because it feels like a constant up hill battle just to do the most basic things in this game sometime.

It's cool and it can be good, but it's a "Bully" type unit that's only really good for punching down. It also just has a normal spitfire which is not enough to put down really meaty enemies. God forbid you try to take on another TAG, cause even something like a Gecko will kick your shit in.
Gwailo's are HI with 4-4 MOV, BS13 and have pricey af link options. Good? Maybe. OP? Certainly not.

If you want potentially OP examples for Shas, my suggestion would be Seed Soldiers. They aren't OP, but they give you so much for so little, especially in some scenarios like Outbreak. Sheskinn is borderline busted, but she's way more cooked in vanilla CA since the cheap filler you use to supply her orders in CA are actually useful things like Daturazi and Morat's rather than Nox.

agreed, but in the previous post there was discussion about taking a Lt, so even if Arse-lan can "dodge good", he lacks the layer of protection that the Teutonic knight gets beyond the dodge(+3).
>>
>>98869596
What do you mean "as a meme"? Feels like a really strong playstyle-defining mechanic. You can go full Rambo with your Lt abusing the extra order without needing to spend extra on NCOs or CoCs, and if it goes down you just pick your next best Rambo and laugh as they've now given it an extra order. And iwth those stats, I bet you can just walk into range of the first repeater you see and bad touch their hackers through Wi-Fi . The more I read this thing the more it feels like it's even stronger than more expensive models like an Avatar? Like sure, Avatar is a BS15 HMG with a bunch of shooty modifiers, but that's all it does. This guy shoots at like 80% of the Avatar's power, costs half as much, and has the rapist hacker profile on top of it

Serious question, why did Infinity never really take off/isn't more popular in the US? I feel like for how long it's been around, the amount of conversation I see about it not even in that obscure of places, it remains something that at most I've seen stray handfuls of models for sale at best usually relegated to a sort of mix corner. I live in a relatively populated area of the US, decent scene for really anything, but not Infinity. Is everybody here just playing solitaire at home, I don't get it.
>>
>>98870059
I think it's due to the fact US scene is based more on local game stores and Infinity is a hard range to carry for small retailers. There are hundreds of itemst to stock, most of which won't realistically move in a justifiable timeframe. You could order stuff online for your customers, but at that point it's easier for them to do it themselves.
>>
>>98870059
Can't really speak for US, since I'm from Poland but Infinity have high entry barrier. Basic rules are quite simple and easy to grasp but once you start digging deeper, it starts to get more and more complicated as extra rules pile up and you need to keep track of those AND of your opponent to form a coherent strategy. Meanwhile game does NOT forgive errors and if you fuck up, you fuck up HARD. Rolls and luck factor is one thing but skilled player can easily screw you over so much you would regret buying those minis in first place.

it's a reasonably well-optimized model: BS and PH14 so you natively shoot good and are easy to pick up with a MedKit (especially considering PanO's abysmal doctors), BS(-3) and Marksmanship means you fuck over people, even those with visors, while ignoring shooting penalties from cover (effective BS17 in good rangebands),ARM 5 and combat instinct gives you a decent reactive ability/survivability. All this is reasonably priced for an apex gunfighter that can be linked. The Multi Redfury isn't an excellent gun, but it's AP and has B4; the missile launcher is more random (being low burst even in a fireteam), but it's very scary.

NTA but this make me think - does this sound good idea to swap duo of Tikbalang (not Lt) + Firefly engineer with Crux Knight (marksman rilfe) and Hetkari, both operating alone? What I have in mind is that I simply feel that two of my current Kestrel lists suffer from focusing on very few units, with rest being pure support - in one, more defensive case, it's mentioned Tik + Firefly duo, with Griffin sitting back with Fennecs as defensive fireteam and Pathfinder being only other mobile piece (support include two Magistrates, one with CoC and one Lt, both having Jackal attached to confuse opponent about who to target if they want to snipe Lt, Blink and Yamabushi as defense, in worst case scenario Fennecs FOs move forward a bit but in such case it's already lost cause), in another it's purely offensive Crux in one group and Tik Lt in second, both basically eating all orders from their groups, Pathfinder to move towards objectives, Banshee KHD awaiting out map to drop where required to grab said objectives, and rest being standard defensive formations + some supports like Mechanist + Palbot. Few bad rolls and either one or both groups are severely crippled. Wanted to mitigate it a bit, based on what I saw from my opponents where points were more evenly spread and as a result, whole army was less affected by losing even strong pieces.

The Anathematic is indeed very powerful, but it does still need to be careful: you can bully all "middle range and below" hackers, but if you walk into a Tunguska/Aleph repeater net, you're about to be in pain.
Secondly, while very powerful, the Plasma rifle has very close-combat range bands, and the Anathematic has very little do deal with someone else's visual mods (smoke shooting with AP fucks it up), and visors hurt it's chances badly. The CC score is useless, as is the Monofilament CC weapon (in a vacuum is decent enough, but why the hell would you risk your monster in CC? if a CC specialist is charging in, shooting may be better odds; if you're going into CC...why?).
Lastly, as a personal experience, it's rather difficult to take the Anathematic and another decent Rambo-piece, and still have a well rounded list (you can do it, even with multiple EI aspects, but it's very thin at the bottom); i find it better to transfer LT and WIP to a very fast specialist for turn 3 objective runs.
>>
>>98872451
I'm the Anon with whom you've workshopped the lists before the event.
I'm still a strong proponent for the Hektari being well above the Crux, and while i undestand you point about
>Few bad rolls and either one or both groups are severely crippled
you must remember that there is a cost: concentrating on good units gets you apex pieces, but you must support them, dilluting the points can get you good-to-very-good units, but you're liable to being outclassed.
Having the Crux and Hektari operating separately can force your opponent to deal with a two-pronged assault, and force him to choose "which of the two i lose" instead of "if i lose", but you need orders to do that
>>

They just cut out the gear bloat and replace it with better bs, immunity enhanced and actually good profiles. Be aware you have no hacking or engie protection, so all your main guns are at risk from hackers and repeaters/pitchers; the Crux has Stealth, so he cares only in reactive, but still you need to hunt down and murder enemy hackers fast.
I know i will probably start to sound insane to you, but the CoC Magistrate is much less useful than an engie with a palbot, especially if you face massed E/M weaponry of glue guns (IMM-A is pain).
A radically nuts approach could be picking the Hetkari Lt. profile and being aggressive with it (possibly forgoing using the Lt. order first turn and revealing it the second turn; in this case WIP12 could work in your favor: your opponent goes second, so you can alpha-strike and take board control), freeing up points for a machinist+palbot to babysit your HI: you still have insurance with CoC/disposable ARO chaff with Jackals.
And keep in mind your two attack pieces fill different roles: the Hetkari is a bully (mobile, specially with the TacAw order team, effective BS17 in good range, -3 to ARO unless you fight Warhorse, high burst AP/Shock), use weight of fire to overwhelm everything; the Crux is a scalpel (take on visors aggressively, cross repeater nets with Mov6, troll people with PH14 Drop Bears, and generally go where you cannot afford to risk the Hetkari).

Most mercenary factions could really use a touch-up:
personally (in addition to your 2 to 3 points discount), i'd like a bit more weapon variety (especially ammo types, but godverdamnt give me something other than a combi), and options for board control (Smoke Grenade launcher, discoballs).
>>
>>98875956
I'd take more weapon profiles and special profile variants over having the mish mash of merc units desu desu. Stuff like yuan yuans, bashi's and hunzakuts can stay cause they're staples and make sense since the druze have such strong ties with haqq society but taowu and kunai ninjas I could care less for, they just feel really out of place. I'd exchange them in a heart beat just so I can get druze profiles that aren't active sabotage to take
> i'd like a bit more weapon variety (especially ammo types, but godverdamnt give me something other than a combi)
I honestly like that they get combi's but I'd fuck with the different ammo types. Really I think extra gear/toys is one of the key identity points of Druze, so even having profiles that swap out an x-visor for a biometric visor or exchanges the viral pistol for a viral combi would be something at least. Brawlers even follow in those footsteps since you have funky profiles like the HRL goat w/ assault pistol

Really what I crave though beyond a points discount or BS13 is a feurbach or crazykoala profile but I know I'll never get those. Our 8"+ defensive game is fucking awful since all we have to rely on is TR bots and BS12 snipers.
>Most mercenary factions could really use a touch-up
True to an extent but honestly white company is really fucking solid and Ikari isn't nearly in such an awful state.
>>
>>98876077
StarCo and Dashat are both kinda bad, pesonally i don't find Ikari much better than Druze, never touched White company so i'll take your judgement as correct.
The kunai could be useful if the Thunderbolt had Total reaction, sort of a discount Atalanta. Our defensive game would benefit from something with Minelayer(2) and/or decoys, creating a crumple zone which is dangerous to cross (perhaps more "in theme" rather than pure fire superiority), or something like the Camo Daylami with panzerfaust.
And while we can't have decent gunfighting HI, i'd really like some specialized Druze profiles (such as a mimetism HMG, or MSV2 on the marksman rifle).

>never touched White company so i'll take your judgement as correct.
They take some good things from white banner and svalarheima which are both pretty decent sectorials. They also have access to Hannibal and Laxmee which are pretty standout mercs
>Our defensive game would benefit from something with Minelayer(2) and/or decoys, creating a crumple zone which is dangerous to cross
It'd be awesome if we could get some Long Ya or a Sputnik but we seem to only like pinching stuff from pano or haqq. I do hard agree with the specialist profiles, but honestly even just MSV1 + a good gun would be a god send. If they want to lean more into our techie side a REMdriver could actually be a welcome addition.

Speaking of our defensive game it does have me wondering if it's worth just having a duo of the panzerfaust druze sticking their heads out and holding annoying af angles to try and get lucky pings off.

>if it's worth just having a duo of the panzerfaust druze sticking their heads out
given how much those two Druze would cost, i would suggest otherwise; a couple of Brawlers i could stomach.

It also occured to me that we need some "cloak and dagger" profiles, something like:
>Druze with holoechoes/holomask, FD(+8), Viral/T2 Boarding shotgun;
or, better yet
>Brawler with Dogged, Hidden deployment, minelayer(2) E/M or (dare we dream) DA, AP smg and chain colt (+1B)
and (yes the weather is delightful in the madhouse, thank you for asking) finally
>gremlin (possibly irregular) with IMP-2 with repeater/deployable repeater, SR(-1) Grenade launcher, Breaker pistol (B+2)

Regarding your point:
>It'd be awesome if we could get some Long Ya or a Sputnik
i, respectfully, disagree: Druze aren't hi-tech, something like a Camo regular, FD(+4) or (+8) with minelayer, seems more their style and language, possibly an irregular Camo shitter with a Flamethrower.

Old Avatar, N3 Morats, ALL OF TOHAA (Carlos! why have you forsaken meeeeee?), the older O-Yoroi, Marut, Cutter...
>>
>>98876821
>Avatar
I disagree, though the aesthetic is so different it's pretty much apples to oranges. It looks like it's doing the "Chad stride" pose
>Morats
Are those the ones prior to their current redesign, or the ones before that? I like the previous ones just as much as the ones, but the oldest ones are too monke
>Tohaa
They'd need to have a modern range for the comparison to exist... though modern CA and especially Next Wave seem to take heavy isnpiration form their designs
>O-Yoroi
Old one had a more interesting silhouette, that's for sure
>Marut
I miss BIG EARS but the new one is much better imho, old one was cool but too humanoid, why did it havea juicy ass and detailed back muscles? Looked like a giant woman in a suit
>Cutter
Gun was cooler, everything else about the model was horrible
>>
>>98876876
>why did it havea juicy ass and detailed back muscles?
Because Aleph is best girl, obviously. I also find the neew Marut to be a bit "excessive" (though this is true for most new tags) in the details.
>everything else about the model was horrible
De gustibus etc etc, i think the older pose and proportions are superior, even if the detail wasn't as clear.
>Morats
Yes i am speaking of the "black and red" Morats, the newer-old models.
>Avatar
On the whole, i preferred the more alien look of CA (Doktor Worm endures, thank the EI for that), and the "incorporated into the bodywork" weapons of the older aspects (Avatar, Anathematic). The new ones are certainly superior on a technical level, and convey a more unified look.
>Tohaa
I was being facetious, i just wish they weren't on the chopping block, because i liked very much their strangeness (swarm grenades, stratocloud, nullifiers) and (again) alien feel to their models

Alright. I guess I could remove CoC Magistrate and replace him with said Mechanist but would that really be safe? I might sound paranoid but I really expect some more pro player just drop parachutist or something else off table and try to take away my obvious Lt.

Biggest problem I have with new Marut is how he is Siocast, this material is pure ass.

Look at the tiny legs compared to the upper torso, it feels like it's about to fall over.

You're asking the wrong question, one that shows your weak modern sensibilities. The question you should've asked is "why not?"

Yeah, I couldn't find Seraph back then so I picked up him instead and painted blue to proxy as Seraph, due to this whole sword and "wings". Now, local shop have Seraph in stock and I play Kestrel instead of MO so let's just say I enjoy painting.

All of N2 Steel Phalanx, N3 Bolts, N3 Morats, old Marut, old Avatar, N2 Bakunin models, Asuka Kisaragi, Shinobu, old Posthumans, Al Djabel, Naga Sniper, N2 Asura, Zoe, ...Honestly, almost all of post-N3 resculpts have been utter failures to me aside for Imperial Service, Exrah, and a handful of kits here and there.
>scarface and cordelia
The oop kit got me into the game. The redesign is shamefully ugly.
