we back
>>158281586snow clearing has gotten pretty bad last year under a new mayor, and they plan to use more salt than before, so it's definitely going to ruin my bike. I'd get a beater to do winters, but my main good weather bike is already a beater.I was thinking of finally getting an e-bike but I can't really justify it. 95% of my round trips aren't longer than 10km, and I'm barely sharing the road with car traffic at all so I don't really need the speed. Would just be so nice to go 30km/h without breaking a sweat when going up a mild 5~8% grade hill or when going against a headwind, or when the air is very cold and dense in winter, but desu i wouldn't want the salt and water to fucking up my bike, I'd want it to last at least 2 years before I inevitably bin it. Frivolous consoomer behaviour but man it would be nice.Wish we had Oulu levels of snow clearing, the finns really got shit right with their frequent plowing, front and rear sided tractor blade and zero salting
>Iván Ramiro Sosa to EF Education - EasyPost>Michael Valgren to Netcompany INEOS
>>158287652I don't like e-bikes for multiple reasons, but there's a few upsides too.Downsides:- It gives people the feeling that they're exercising (they'll even be proud about it and say they CYCLED 30km) but it's not even walking-level of effort- It's a bunch of batteries into the world, like we dont have enough e-waste yet- For most people there's zero need, they can perfectly get to their destination with a regular bike or by feet, but for some reason it got "cool" among all age groups. Kids and young people who would get some exercise commuting now don't get any- These speed pedelecs are a fucking danger on the road, 10x worse than motorcycles. As a cagie you can't anticipate their speed, they dont think they need to slow down at roundabouts or that any rules apply to them. And as a regular biker youre in danger as well of them slamming into youPro's: There's a lower chance of my regular bike getting stolen because ebikes are way more expensive. It gets some cars off the road, if you'd be going by car anyways i'd say an ebike is a good choice for society as a whileAlso, how many sleeps till omloop?

Okay time for some serious discussion: supposed team strength is an absolute meme and is used as a cope by the cycling world to promote the collective effort, when the strength of the leader is all that matters (except for TTT, we'll come back to this). Now there's obviously endless examples to use, but the best one is UAE in the last TDFs. In 2026, where did this super team actively and concretely gain Pogacar time compared to his opponents, instead of Pogacar's superiority doing so? OTOH Visma gave Vingo about 30s to him in the TTT (Pogacar pulling a lot vs him none, still at the bottom of the climb 16s faster). Also, what concrete (not better verbal encouragement) help would the super team been had Vingo been stronger than Pogacar on the mountains? It seems to me the team is called a super team only bc of Pogacar's dominance, and more so it seems impossible to have a super team without the strongest rider. For chances of GC win having strong support (at least in this era) matters almost none, and is more about controlling more and increasing chances of more stage wins. As a matter, if feeding didn't exist the strongest rider basically wouldn't need a team, unless we're talking about some silly break tactics deciding GC.
Or accidents etc., where risk obviously would be super high without a team. Even formations in peloton to max protection from wind is almost completely a meme, and UAE especially don't have good bodies for that in TDF.
Granon 2022 might the the dumbest example ever, bc they were on the same team Vingo and Roglic actually teleported between their attacks to save energy instead the same thing that always happens happening, the strongest rider going uphill winning.

Ineos' roster is tiny at this point going into next season. I wonder how much of it is rejection versus keeping a small roster. Either way they look absolutely fucked. On track to fold before 2030. One or two shitty seasons like the last few years and they're gone. Crazy how Q36 have basically usurped their position as a British flavoured WT team. Ineos deserve their death and I will rejoice when it finally happens.

>Tadej Pogačar revealed that his injuries sustained in his crash at the Vuelta a España were more extensive than first reported. Initial reports stated that the five-time Tour de France winner had suffered a concussion, fractures to his left collarbone, a stable C7 cervical fracture as well as various cuts and bruises. But weeks after his crash, further exams showed that he had broken two more vertebrae.>“There’s actually a funny story. Two weeks ago, I was in Slovenia and I went to do another CT scan. I knew I had a C7 fracture, but then we saw I had two more broken vertebrae, the T1 and T2.”>“At that moment, I was happy I didn’t do the European Championships, which had been my initial goal. When I saw I had three broken vertebrae? I’m just happy to be alive, actually, or just to be standing.”>“I don’t have discomfort anymore,” Pogačar said. “I have to be careful not to crash on the bike, or do some heavy lifting with my left arm or with my neck. But I can do basically everything normal now.”>He admitted that the two weeks post-crash were difficult, with concussion-related nausea and dizziness affecting his coordination and forcing a delay in getting back onto his bike, or at a minimum, on the rollers.>“For the first two weeks, I was really mentally not OK. I was really down. I was not a fun person to be around. I don’t think Urska [Zigart] was happy to see me around the house, because I was just, like, depressed. You know, just not feeling anything.”>“When I started to get on the home trainer, to go to physio every day, then I started to feel better — also in the head. But it was a day-to-day fight.”>“Now, in Monaco, I go for runs, swum a few times — it’s important to build a really good base now through the winter. Actually, it’s not winter yet here — I was in shorts today riding outside. But I‘m feeling like I’m getting back into the proper rhythm of training and recovery.”
