    Wait, /p/ has rules?
    >>
    >newfag discovered that boards have rules
    >>
    >>4536610
"Do not upload random snapshots" has been a meme ever since the fujislugs were allowed to take over ca. CY. The board took a nosedive and never recovered. Now in CY+11, the consequences are readily noticeable.
    >>
    >>4536611
They're obviously not followed. There's not even a link to them in the sticky. I think the board could be improved massively if #1 were followed strictly (i.e. eliminate gearfagging and brand war bullshit). You would have to own the camera you were talking about and, according to rule #2, take a decent photo of it if you were to talk about it with an image post. That doesn't happen. No one enforces these rules and they're not even displayed somewhere you could be reminded of them every time you log onto /p/ (newfags never log out of 4chan).
    >>
PS: Enforcing #1 would eliminate WEBM posting from India or encourage users to make OC for their sperg-tier brand bashing. Lazy memes would be snuffed out like granny without her life support.
    >>
    >>4536615
It would also kill the board
    >>
    >>4536610
Enforce the rules would improve quality and kill the little engagement we have.
There's nothing to gain, either way.
    >>
    >>4536610
1.) yes, unless it's in a gear thread
2.) it's 4chan, im not sure half the people here can pronounce composition.
3.) exif died while back did it not? Im still not sure about even posting it, seems like a hassle unless someone actual cared enough to ask.
4.) If i post bird to bird thread, why?
5.) did they ever ban snoy mcsnoyface that shits on everything?
    >>
    >>4536624
#5 at least could be enforced with a bit more vigour. A lot of abuse is passed off as criticism. It's really disgusting, and it seems to come from one or only a couple of people.
    >>
    >>4536610
/p/ doesnt even have mods or else cANON and cinefag would catch auto bans for using their names/trips for evasion. We just go to a global mod’s report queue.
    >>
    >>4536655
    What evasion?
    I'm not banned k3k
You on the other hand sound like a projecting ban evader, you should get a trip so we know you're not evading.
    >>
    >>4536655
It's true that those two have shat the place to high heaven. Moop was at least kept in check by isi, and isi at least posted photos... I miss those halcyon days.
    >>
    >>4536656
You would also be perma’d for being a dogfucker
    >>
Just stop engaging with the moronic tripindividual
    >>
    >please post as much relevant technical information as possible, such as: camera, kit, lens, etc.
    >Include a short description with your photograph, such as when and where it was photographed and under what circumstances.

I wish these were followed, I want to know how the resulting image was achieved, with what gear and with what settings. Not to be a consolewar fanboy but to know what I would need to use to try achieve similar results
    >>
    >>4536696
If 4chan wasn't a completely outdated and insecure site, we could have EXIF data back. Maybe when the owners get another government check...
    >>
    >>4536700
If anything this site will only keep getting worse and worse. Chatbots will soon get so good you won't be able to tell them from humans and there will be no captcha that could slow them down. Since this site is not generating any real income it will be left to slowly rot and die. Sad truth is that there is no place for "anonymous" discussion on the internet anymore. You need ways to identify users and verify that they are not bots to keep communities alive. The golden age of the internet and 4chan is at least ~10 years behind us and what's in front of us is slop and further erosion of trust rendering most information on the internet useless and all discussion futile. The new era of touching grass is approaching slowly but surely.
    >>
    >>4536624
    >1.) yes, unless it's in a gear thread
Some people here actually enjoy photography and share artworks from other photographers as inspiration

    >2.) it's 4chan, im not sure half the people here can pronounce composition.
Then why are you here. There used to be very talented photographers creating threads, but for the reason we all know of there is no incentive to do that anymore.

    >shits on everything?
If you get out the gear thread you will realize people don't shit on people posting photos. Most comments are constructive and nice. But of course that would give you one less excuse to post pictures.

    >>4536700
It's not 4chan fault if users buy material that records personnal data and share it online.

    >>4536704
    >Chatbots will soon get so good you won't be able to tell them from humans
They have been for years already, you just don't know because you can't notice them. If you think LLMs have a recognizable style it's because you haven't seen LLMs that are specifically trained to be indistinguishable from humans. A couple years ago they did this study on reddit that was really controversial where they used LLM to try to change the opinion of people or something, and you can see that the messages the LLM wrote are just like any message anyone would write.

    >there is no place for "anonymous" discussion on the internet anymore
true although I don't think 4chan will die anytime soon so maybe there'll be a second golden age
    >>
    >>4536706
    >They have been for years already, you just don't know because you can't notice them.
They are still too dumb. I use them every day and they have IQ of a brain dead child combined with an approximate knowledge of almost everything. Hilarious combination.
    >>
    >>4536708
No, you don't use LLMs properly trained to imitate human writing on a specific langage, website and topic.
    >>
    >>4536708
cANON and cinefag are the same LLM
The blinkies/moire spammer is an LLM
    Sony shills are LLMs
Dumb, but too dumb? It passes as a retarded human
    >>
    >>4536713
    >implying an LLM would openly advocate for its own destruction
You're just too cowardly to try to step out of Plato's cave
    >>
    >>4536706
    >It's not 4chan fault if users buy material that records personnal data and share it online.
It IS 4chan's fault if they encourage sharing it thoughbeit.
    >>
    >>4536797
Sure, that's why you were so easily convinced I was from Belarus and even looked up some furfag there to try to latch his identity to mine.

What are you, a pms-ing woman? A little hatred goes a long way.
Anyways the only content that will actually get you banned from /p/ is any sort of antisemitism, no matter how valid or mild, which makes sense given the medium I guess.

    >>4536620
    Fucking Kek

    >What are you, a pms-ing woman? A little hatred goes a long way.
Some of the abuse on display. Yes, just a little hatred goes a long way to spoiling a great deal. It's not constructive, at any rate, and doesn't meet the stated criteria of rule #5. Of course, to a man determined to show his photos to the world because he believes they are worth showing, any amount of hatred will only add fuel to his fire; but for the little children here who hardly stand on their oen two feet, a collective atmosphere of encouragement will be far more productive than hatred. I'm not suggesting we adopt false praise and saccharine, trite platitudes, like another website we all know; but to genuinely want each other's photography to improve and to advise one another to that end sincerely. All that will be much more beneficial than hatred.
A bad photo must be called bad; but do not assume the fellow who took it wants to take bad photos all his life. Instead, advise him on how to improve as well.

Not the other anons, I have no strong opinion on OP's discovery, but I've been on 4chan since 2005 and /p/ since 2008.

Go outside anons, or don't forget, you're here forever.
