Peak Evropa. Christianity's "youth", with clear emphasis on the beauty of the things to come. We must endure old age and death before we get to witness the authentic version of this again.

Better from a composition standpoint. Crop is pretty strong and showing issues on that front, but yeah this is nice. Kind of reminds me of how a rally group would set up before the start line. In fact I think I'm subconciously expecting more going on in front of the cars but in your og pic it's just wide open sand with nothing going on, so it feels odd. All the cars are pointing at something but that something is nothing.

Car photos with good context always make good photos. Based photoposter.

get lower, get higher, find paths or interesting landmarks to guide your look, get good light, have foreground, middle and background. if you take a picture with a wide angle of stuff that's only far away, you'll get a monotonous blob of nothing a lot of the time

    basically put in some effort

A real perspective corrected lens would have a less unnatural looking tower on the left

The real problem, the light just looks off. Industrial fluorescent lighting and sodium lamps were kino. Miami Vice couldn't be done today. Look at this kino, the blueish lighting is from fluorescents shot on tungsten stock. It is graded of course but they didn't start from nothing. And the sound, the scene still gives me goosebumps. Now most cars sound like vacuum cleaners and lights look like shit.

I think that boils down to light bouncing around inside the lens due to uncoated glass. It gets worse when you open up the aperture. Can't blame the lamps for that, but here you can see the difference between LED and sodium.

    long time no post
had a big trip recently that ate up all my time and attention, will post from it when I get around to it

picked up a ZR shortly beforehand and loving it, selling my XH2s as a result
also picked up 35 f1.4 Z and like it a lot
need to pick up another lens before the year ends, leaning towards 85 1.8 S or the 105 f2.8 macro

AF in video was a little bit of it, never had an issue with the AF for stills on it. For video, sometimes the tracking would get lost or I would see AF pulsing when the subject was relatively still. I had to leverage an AF-Lock button to more proactively control it. The video quality on it was great, but when shooting video I really felt like it needed to be rigged up to get the most out of it.
ZR's all area AF has been solid, and it has lots more advanced features built-in, as well as stuff like open gate and desqueeze on the way. ZR has been the perfect pocket cine camera.
A nice surprise is that 6k N-RAW on the ZR is smaller in filesize than 6k (open gate) Prores 422 LT. 32-bit float has been great too.

    >>4536654

Recently I considered switching to bigger sensor for that extra stop of dynamic range but every time I look at FF cameras and especially lenses I realize how big they are and then I'm happy with my X-H2 again. With APS-C I can have a top notch 135mm equivalent lens the size of a FF 50mm. Image quality is great and I will probably never need more resolution from a camera. It's mostly the more limited dynamic range that can be annoying sometimes and obviously shit auto focus.
I guess I'll wait for X-T6/X-Pro4/X-H3 and see what kind of improvements they bring to the table. If next gen is unimpressive then maybe I'll learn how to edit my photos and get a Snoy.

Totaly agree. And even though I despise the concept of a zoo, das Haus des Meeres is really quite cool. Also for photography. They even have a storage there for the MAK Museum. And once they thought about building a huge aquarium on top of it, but afair and ridicoulosly enough they didn't, because of static concerns.

Yeah. Unfortunately they are the closest lab to me and still a 1 hour drive. I need to start scanning myself but at that point I should also probably start developing C-41 myself.

it isn't a great view of the tree or the cathedral, because the frame cuts off the tree and it, in turn, cuts off the cathedral. it's up to you whether you agree or how you adapt your framing in the future.

    >>
    >>4537054
unless your framing intentionally cuts off something distracting/ugly to the immediate right, there's a real imbalance here between light and dark. you don't need that much dark when the light is so good. it would also benefit the vanishing point, so to speak, if the person were pushed closer to the top right corner and the lights and their reflection were more central to the image. i mean i just don't like the composition, though. the atmosphere is cool and the exposure is unremarkable for its goodness.

nowhere. my point is that photos of building corners are all indistinguishable from one another yet noobs gravitate to them like the bogong to your porch light. they're nice fillers for a photo carousel but no one will study these photos or feel anything because of them, I'm confident of that; they inspire indifference; but it is fun to take the photos, I know that.

to add to what I said earlier, with the yellow tree on the right, I would have spent a while seeing if I could get its canopy to have a clear ring of sky around it separating it from the other tree's canopy in the foreground. I like it overall though. this is definitely someplace worth revisiting. and anyway, all my critique is just what I find ideal in composition: all the separate elements having their own breathing room. It seldom works in practice. Things get in the way...
